Mouse randomly crashes - Acer Iconia A500

I use a mouse on my tablet quite a bit, however ever since I got the ability to use a mouse with it, after a while the mouse will freeze and no matter what I do I can't get my tablet to see the mouse again unless I restart it, I'm using the Microsoft arc touch mouse currently, but had the same issue with the mouse I used before it. I have the latest .10 update and I'm rooted. If you need anymore info just let me know.

Is no one else getting this?

Strange
I have used my mouse and a full sized keyboard on my a500 for weeks now - ever since the early leaked version of 3.1
Have since upgraded to the latest official stock 3.1, use my mouse and keyboard for hours a day and have no problems with any lockups or the mouse not responding.
Wish I could be of more help.

I can never get my mouse to work on this thing...

Are you on a 3.0 based ROM or a 3.1? As far as I know - mouse only works on a 3.1 based ROM.

Need 3.1 or root + mouse app from Dev forums. I've used a Logitech wireless mouse and a Gear Head mini-usb keyboard w/ trackpad with no issues. I suspect that the mice you're having trouble with may include power-saving hardware & shut off w/o constant communcation

Well both of the mouses I use are microsoft, and its right in the middle of usage that it freezes, the while system will freeze for a second, then I'm not able to user my mouse, the cursor will sit there until I touch the screen then it disappears, and no matter what I do I can't get the system to recognize the mouse again

I've actually find out that it is my usb port that just stops communicating, so I'm restoring it as we speak

Rii wireless keyboards

I have both the usb version and the bluetooth version of this keyboard. The keyboard functions on both work, but not the touchpad.
Just picked up the Targus BT keyboard. Paired painlessly, works just fine - typing this note using it!

That stand rules. Anybody that is looking for the best tablet stand for their Iconia should grab one.

Could you provide a little more info on the keyboard? Do you have a model number, a vendor link, etc? I am looking for a functional BT keyboard and so far both my Apple and a generic model do not work.
Any additional information would be most helpful.
Thanks!
I just got my stand and the keyboard, they both are great.
FYI the stand is $49.99 at Staples.

FWIW, I can confirm that the Motorola Xoom keyboard works too -- I'm glad to finally find something functional after trying and returning the Apple KB and the Microsoft Arc USB KB. The app shortcut keys don't work on the A500, but home/back/search and volume controls do, as well as regular typing.

Logitech dinovo bluetooth keyboard and mouse pad
I just got one of these and the keyboard works as well as media buttons, touch mouse pad, and right click is same as back and left click is enter. Pairing was simple and would probably work on devices that take usb keyboards but didn't have bluetooth embedded with the included dongle because it pairs with it with a button no software. Would like to get it working in first player games like Modern Combat. Any ideas How?

Have you looked at droid vnc (don't know if there is something else similar). I thought I saw another app that would also work, but haven't tried anything yet.
I did. I couldn't get DroidVNC to run on the tablet without crashing.

Ugh, sorry, I was planning to try it out myself but hadn't had a chance yet. There is another thread on androidforums about this also with some possible usable apps:
http://androidforums.com/android-applications/8858-remote-control-my-phone.html
You dan do it wit WiFiKeyboard that is in the market
Just tried that wifikeyboard and seems to work well for me. hopefully it is what the OP was looking for too
I use it to get cheats in gta 3 ;p
There is this... haven't tried it.. http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...blet-android-phone-your-pc-other-android.html
And other than that I have a Microsoft keyboard that has a little 2.4 ghz dongle and it works great. Mouse works too. If you really want the keyboard-tablet experience. Lags in not-native roms.. perfect in gmail, talk and a few others.. My two cents.
And of course there's always the transformer..

[Q] Right click on ICS bug?

I just upgraded my firmware to 4.0.3 and I'm having a little bit of trouble. I use Splashtop HD and it says that it has enabled right and middle click for ICS, but when I try to right click, it just asks if I want to disconnect the session. Is there a way to set right click on an external mouse to open the context menu? I'm using a Logitech MK500 keyboard/mouse combo if that helps any.
Thanks, TechPlease

This is not a bug it it work as design. I would like also to have the old behavior back.
I've seen that on Asus there is an extra menu developed by them to chose the behavior of the right click is it possible to make an app or something to do the same.
Thank you
@Thade "Old behavior"? Do you mean where a long left click will bring up the right click menu? If not, sorry for the misunderstanding on my part. I hope they put that back in for now, as, when I use my mouse I can't right click at all.

[HOWTO] Use your Epic as Mouse/Keyboard for other Android devices

So, as far as I know, this should be able to control PC's too, and maybe PS3's. But, I've only tried this on other Android devices. Should control anything on CM7.X, or anything on any form of Android 3.0, 4.0, and 4.1.
Prerequisites(Epic 4G specific):
Has to be on an AOSP based ROM(CM, AOKP, Paranoid, etc)
Step 1.) Enable Bluetooth on your Epic 4G and other Android device.
Step 2.) Pair the devices together
Step 3.) Now, install "BluePutDroid" on your Epic from the Play Store.
Step 4.) Open BluePutDroid, hit the Start key on the top left
Step 5.) Swipe up the "Log" bar to make sure there were no errors. If there were, try step 4 again.
Step 6.) Tap the device you want to connect to(your other Android device)
Step 7.) When it finishes loading, the screen should be green. Swipe on this to move the mouse on the other android device. Tap once to click on the other device, and hold down till the screen turns red to do things like scrolling, drag and drop, etc.
If the S/W keyboard shows up, hit menu "Toggle Soft Keyboard" to hide it. If it keeps enabling itself, install "Null Keyboard" from the Play Store and set that as your input method while using BluePutDroid. Also, the H/W keyboard works great. So you can use that to type, or navigate with the Dpad
This app works on other devices as well, but I can't go into great detail on ROM compatibility and such.
If your device has CM7/9/10 or any AOSP based ROM, this will work.
This will work on the (rooted) stock ROM of some devices, such as Nexus S(all forms), Galaxy Nexus(all forms), and Galaxy S3 (all forms)
On other's it will not work on the stock ROM, regardless of root, such as Galaxy S(entire first series), and many older HTC devices(not sure of newer ones).
According to the app developer, this is kernel related and nothing he can do; if it works, it works. if it doesn't, get.cm
Thanks! I'll look into this.

I can confirm that this works with windows and linux - I've been using this app for nearly a year, and it works well
But I didn't know it worked with other CM devices - that's an awesome find

Would this work if the other device doesn't have bluetooth?
Amazing stuff though, I wish my netbook had bluetooth that would have made it even more amazing lol.

Lol. There is an app called WiFi Keyboard that'll let you type using your Epic, but its not near as awesome as this. And all text gets sent through in Caps lock

There's apps for PCs similar to this. Like RemoteDroid and gPad. I'd prefer gPad because it has many other uses, like controlling windows media player, microsoft powerpoint, and using it as a mouse/keyboard obviously. But again, it's over WiFi. Bluetooth is beta AFAIK.

This app has been around for at least a year - the benefit of bluetooth is faster response times than over wifi. I think that's partly the result of the direct connection, and partly because the wifi methods involve a computer-side server (often using vnc, which uses some processing time to send a live stream of the screen, even if the connected client app doesn't need it, such as with a remote kb/mouse app)

I can also vouch for this on the ps3. Donate, help him out and no ads.
My wife was giving me **** "you are so techy, why can't you ruin the ps3 with your phone". So i googled and XDAed until i found this app.

I love to log on while the wife is using the computer. Move the mouse as shes trying. Priceless. I use advance touchpad. Its via wifi but very responsive, and it gives me all the keys. I have to be able to windows key + p to switch to my TV.

Are you still using your Q?

Is anyone still using their Q now that it's been completely abandoned by Google? If so, in what ways are you using it? I was hoping someone here would hack the Q, but it looks slim. Should I throw this thing away? I want to use this things amp!

After they shut down the servers for setting them up, I quit using it. If you use cm 10. 2 with amp support and cheap cast its almost like it still works, but i haven't taken the time to put it on yet. There are guides. Don't trash it though. There are still people that will have uses for them as a desktop computer.
I haven't used mine in 6 months either but I am gonna dust it off and try to load 10.2 on it next week now that the hdmi and spidf are working. Does anyone know what keyboard and mouse combos work? I thought it was a Microsoft wireless 800 combo that I was using last time with wireless adb since there's only one USB.

I just installed cm 10.1 using the method posted by user ianandamy. Works great and my input methods are a Microsoft wireless mouse with with an OTG cable connected to the Q, and I have a wireless Bluetooth keyboard. The only things I would like to see fixed are the primal LED lighting function, and a way of powering off the Q other than unplugging it.

Actually found mine in the cupboard the other week, got it working thanks to a few forum posts here, running CM on it, using it as a quick XBMC streamer + android games console with a Moga BT joystick... works a treat.

If you install CM on it and then install cheapcast, you can cast to it as if it was a chromecast.
since putting CM11 on this device it feels and works amazing!!
-full screen immersive mode
-transparency
-snappy
-play store works perfectly
If anyone is in the UK and willing to part with their Q, I'd love to make you an offer!
Just send me a PM
