After they shut down the servers for setting them up, I quit using it. If you use cm 10. 2 with amp support and cheap cast its almost like it still works, but i haven't taken the time to put it on yet. There are guides. Don't trash it though. There are still people that will have uses for them as a desktop computer.
I haven't used mine in 6 months either but I am gonna dust it off and try to load 10.2 on it next week now that the hdmi and spidf are working. Does anyone know what keyboard and mouse combos work? I thought it was a Microsoft wireless 800 combo that I was using last time with wireless adb since there's only one USB.

I just installed cm 10.1 using the method posted by user ianandamy. Works great and my input methods are a Microsoft wireless mouse with with an OTG cable connected to the Q, and I have a wireless Bluetooth keyboard. The only things I would like to see fixed are the primal LED lighting function, and a way of powering off the Q other than unplugging it.

If you install CM on it and then install cheapcast, you can cast to it as if it was a chromecast.
since putting CM11 on this device it feels and works amazing!!
-full screen immersive mode
-transparency
-snappy
-play store works perfectly
If anyone is in the UK and willing to part with their Q, I'd love to make you an offer!

So far I basically use this thing as a web browser, twitter reader and forum crawler.
Of course I rooted, themed, installed new kernels, bricked it, brought it back to life, and now I'm back to stock rooted.
So what else can this thing do? I bought a USB dongle thinger but I don't like watching movies on the small screen (I get headaches easy). Give me some ideas?

Have you tried alternate ROMs? If not, I'd recommend Paranoid Android. It's smooth, fast, stable, and it allows you to choose between phone, phablet, and tablet mode for every app.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800268
If PA isn't your style, try Slimbean or Cyanogenmod 10.
There are a lot of ROMs out there to mess around with.

How about getting tablet mode by installing ROM Toolbox Lite and changing the DPI from 213dpi to 160dpi?
It's under Performance/build.prop.tweaks
You'll need to be rooted though.

So, as far as I know, this should be able to control PC's too, and maybe PS3's. But, I've only tried this on other Android devices. Should control anything on CM7.X, or anything on any form of Android 3.0, 4.0, and 4.1.
Prerequisites(Epic 4G specific):
Has to be on an AOSP based ROM(CM, AOKP, Paranoid, etc)
Step 1.) Enable Bluetooth on your Epic 4G and other Android device.
Step 2.) Pair the devices together
Step 3.) Now, install "BluePutDroid" on your Epic from the Play Store.
Step 4.) Open BluePutDroid, hit the Start key on the top left
Step 5.) Swipe up the "Log" bar to make sure there were no errors. If there were, try step 4 again.
Step 6.) Tap the device you want to connect to(your other Android device)
Step 7.) When it finishes loading, the screen should be green. Swipe on this to move the mouse on the other android device. Tap once to click on the other device, and hold down till the screen turns red to do things like scrolling, drag and drop, etc.
If the S/W keyboard shows up, hit menu "Toggle Soft Keyboard" to hide it. If it keeps enabling itself, install "Null Keyboard" from the Play Store and set that as your input method while using BluePutDroid. Also, the H/W keyboard works great. So you can use that to type, or navigate with the Dpad
This app works on other devices as well, but I can't go into great detail on ROM compatibility and such.
If your device has CM7/9/10 or any AOSP based ROM, this will work.
This will work on the (rooted) stock ROM of some devices, such as Nexus S(all forms), Galaxy Nexus(all forms), and Galaxy S3 (all forms)
On other's it will not work on the stock ROM, regardless of root, such as Galaxy S(entire first series), and many older HTC devices(not sure of newer ones).
According to the app developer, this is kernel related and nothing he can do; if it works, it works. if it doesn't, get.cm
Thanks! I'll look into this.

There's apps for PCs similar to this. Like RemoteDroid and gPad. I'd prefer gPad because it has many other uses, like controlling windows media player, microsoft powerpoint, and using it as a mouse/keyboard obviously. But again, it's over WiFi. Bluetooth is beta AFAIK.

This app has been around for at least a year - the benefit of bluetooth is faster response times than over wifi. I think that's partly the result of the direct connection, and partly because the wifi methods involve a computer-side server (often using vnc, which uses some processing time to send a live stream of the screen, even if the connected client app doesn't need it, such as with a remote kb/mouse app)

Any advise as to why I should upgrade would be helpful.

i would wait as yoou wont really be able to mount any external storage until this stickmount or the nexus 7 mount app gets updated to work in 4.2
I am going to wait untill all the apps I use get updated where I know they will work.No use in haveing a new update if nothing works that I want to use on it.
It took hbo over a month to get working on jelly bean and some apps still don't work.I will wait and see before screwing them up because some things might take a while.
I say wait because:
- we didn't get miracast
- new issues with bluetooth, specifically bluetooth audio with wifi enabled/active. Bluetooth audio already had issues in android, now it's worse.
- multi user is no good. Other users can't access your apps, unless they already own them. Haven't tried this yet, but from what I read.
- camera app lost funny faces. Big mouth, small eyes etc. Yes it's gimicky but I've had friends' kids laugh their asses off while using this. Why remove it?
- I'm getting lag (sometimes) again, similar to the pre 4.1.2 issues. Not all users are getting this but I am.
I was initially excited about 4.2 but disappointed now, considering rolling back.
Also no tablet UI. Its completely ripped out. Back to phablet mode. I'm enjoying it though.
Also Apex crashes immediately. So I'm using the stock launcher and everything.

Well I don't have multi user ATM. But all I did was I rooted with wugfresh toolkit(sorry if I spelt it wrong). And the I just plug it in and it said USB mounted or what it normally says. Yeah I can veiw my files on it. I will try with muli user on and will report later
Edit
Stick mount doesn't support multi user son only the primary user can use stick mount. And the the second user I had set up did not read USB storage. So its still working but only for primary user

I just had a new deck installed, here's the one I had installed, http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/CD-Receivers/DEH-P8400BH
And when I plug my phone in to the USB, it says device unrecognized. Is that normal for Nexus devices? Is there any fix for it? And no bluetooth information is displayed, i see its something to do with something that LG or Samsung puts in their branded phones, so its absent from a Nexus, is there any rom with it in it?
Hey there. Same deck and same phone here. For the USB to phone, don't bother. Never got it to work myself. As far as information displaying while playing, many of the custom ROMs support this (CM10.1, AOKP, etc.), so you might want to give one of them a shot. I'm not sure this is something that can be added, or if it's something that that requires a whole ROM to implement.

The nexus 4 doesn't use UMS for mounting. It uses MTP. Unfortunately it won't be compatible with your deck or any other device for that matter.
There aren't any ROMs that will change that either.

Haha, gotta love a cheap solution. Esp as he's just bought a new receiver.
Don't bother with cm right now. Apparently because of the new Bluetooth stack Google used in 4.21 they had to pull out AVRCP v1.3 (the Bluetooth control protocol that allows for song meta data to be sent to the headset) out of cm10.1 and revert back to v1.0 that only allows control...No metadata.
Stock Android only has AVRCP v1.0 so that's why it doesn't work on any stock Nexus device.
...but my wife's GS3 has AVRCP v1.3...boo.

So I just bought the appradio3 for my car for use with my S4 and I'm wondering what is the best way to connect it. Ideally I would like full mirroring of my phone to the radio. I already ordered the android kit and the mirrorlink cable so I can chose how I want it set up later and return the other if I don't want it. I found the full screen mirror apk for drivelink already and have it installed currently. ARliberator currently does not support appradio 3.
The question I'm wondering is if drivelink will work with aosp roms as currently I'm using Task's aokp, or will I need to switch to a Samsung based rom, or google edition rom.
No one here has the radio or tried using mirrorlink on aosp?
I've been using Sony xav 601bt with mirror link. Using a modified app of mirror link that allows full mirroring. I have stock s4 on 4.3 with no issues. It can be a little laggy.
Btw I installed my friends app 3 and I absolutely hated it. Requires an additional kit and doesn't allow full mirroring. Also was disappointed in the deck it self just wasn't as great as I thought.
Good luck on your choice.

I'm not sure if it's already resolved, but there's an app for that. It's called ARUnchanged. But you have to have root access in order for ARUnchanged to work.
