Soo my contacts just decided to stop functioning correctly. All of my facebook contacts with phone #s dont work anymore, the phone tells me they have phone numbers but i cant call or text them. and in my texting app all the names dissappeared (just the persons # shows up now). any thoughts?
also does anyone know how to configure google voice to jsut handle voicemail? i am very annoyed that it always tries to handle my text messages too. how do i disable texting though it?

Are your FB contacts linked with Google? With CM you have to do this manually.
Regarding sms and GV you need to disable the Sprint/GV integration in order to stop GV from handling texts. You can still use GV for VM if you disable the integration.

thanks for the reply. my google and facebook contacts were synced before... last night it was all fine (all my contacts had their #s and i could text /them) then today it just doesnt work. it appears that some of my google contacts are missing too. How would i go about a manual sync in cm7?
When you're viewing a contact I think it's menu->edit->join. Something like that, I've been off CM for a bit.
Sounds quirky. I'd go into settings->accounts & sync, and uncheck than recheck Google account. Let it sync and even restart. Odd it was working fine and now it's not. Of course there's the clear cache/dalviche and fix permissions uid that seem to fix a lit of oddities.

My FaceBook contacts keep giving me an error when trying to sync them? Everything else Twitter Myspace Google Gmail etc etc sync just fine. is anyone else having this issue? Can someone please force a sync and see for me its driving me insane I rely on that for my contacts

I have found that you must sync through contacts instead of settings for it to actually connect and sync/link them. Go to contacts ->Menu ->Accounts ->Add Account. Then add an "Integrated Contact Account" at the top. Once it's added, click on Menu-> Get Friends.

This technique does not work. I have tried every possible way multiple times. Ticking facebook to "get friends" does not even do anything. Doing research about this problem with other phones seems to point toward FB servers as the problem. Pretty much FB = epic fail. I have only gotten my FB contacts to sync twice but it never updated - one was right when I got the phone but did not like the epic syncing 390430.39 contacts to my gmail (since there is no option to choose what to sync or even what groups to export!!! annoying i decided to do a hard reset). I had my fb contacts sync one more on my 3rd hard reset but i had to do yet another HR to clear a notification error due to conflicting apps. Now I am about to do my 5th. FML!

my voice search has stopped working other than opening browser to google. no calls, no music search, no nothing. apparently you have to sync ur contacts with google for the voice search to analyze your contacts to find the one to call. You can not have them stored to your phone group. switched all my contacts over to my google group and nothing happened. I was hoping maybe it would and that would also be why fb would not sync. guess not.
Mine synced today after turning on 4g for awhile.

It doesn't sound like a FB issue as mine synced immediately after doing what I outlined and has stayed since.

I think you trying that technique and getting it to work was just timing. I just checked to see if I can add contacts from my FB and it is the first it let me in a week trying every day. Has to be server side. People from other carriers and phones were reporting the same issue...

People reported success with this technique on other forums too, where going through the actual settings didn't work for them. IDK, it's whatever...
I'm sort of having a similar problem, except with MySpace, I haven't been able to log in since I got the phone. Any suggestions? I've tried it on both wifi & 3g (no 4g where I live) have flashed different roms and gotten the same result. Any ideas?
I'm Loosing Facebook contacts, that im still friends with, the contact manager no longer shows them as a facebook contact just a phone contact with no picture and stuff.

Do you possibly have the option selected to only show contacts with phones numbers? When you're in contacts hot the menu button and then display, and check your contacts display settings. If you have only show numbers selected or facebook deselected then you won't see those contacts.

i was not set to only show contacts with numbers, and some of the contacts had numbers anyway.
i resynced facebook, retstarted phone and went to find more contacts and they showed up again weird...
Perhaps the sync was the key? Don't know, glad you got it working again though

I transfered all of my contacts from my iphone at a sprint store, but when i try searching for a contact when composing a new message, the phone cannot seem to recognize the contact name. This happens to the majority of my contacts, only a few actually work. Anyone know a fix or why this is happening?

sounds like something got borked when transferring contacts. I would try linking the contacts with numbers in the Contacts app and then try it again and see if it works. Try a few, to see if its working. I manually enterred all of my contacts a while back when I switched from Pre to Hero to my google account (I know, there is an easier way, now). So I haven't had any contact issues.
It was happeneing to me too, but no port from iphone. Also when contacts would call it would only display there number even though the were already contacts with pictures.
I Just played with the contact settings and not sure how I fixeed it sorry.

Whenever I start dialing a number, all my facebook contacts with that area code and first few digits start showing up as people to quick-select. In reality, only about one or two of these numbers are actually stored to my google account.
I have my contacts list to display only contacts with a phone number, and facebook contacts are set to be hidden, so if I were to search these people that auto-display when I'm dialing a number, they don't show up.
How do I prevent these facebook contacts from showing up when I'm dialing a number? Why do they show up when I'm dialing a number, but they don't show up in my contacts list? It's quite annoying.
PS) I'm running SRF 1.2 with genocide.

Bingo. When you install Facebook on your phone, just don't sync it. That would drive me friggin' nuts.
Hmm... but then what about maintaining contact pictures? The only way they can be updated is to sync your facebook contacts, to my knowledge. Right??
Is there any way to sync existing contacts' images with their facebook accounts, but prevent ALL of my facebook friends with phone numbers from popping up when I dial a number? It's TOTALLY driving me crazy!
Also, in the account settings I have my facebook listed TWICE. One must be with a built in facebook thing, and the other is from the facebook app. I'm not sure which is which. One of them only gives me an option to sync contacts. The other lets me set the sync interval, sync the calendar, and sync contacts. Both of these have sync set to OFF on the main accounts screen.
Open your facebook app. Press the "back" button once. Press the menu key. Select options. Find the option for syncing facebook contacts and turn it off.

Your google should've saved the fb contact photos on your contacts...I don't use fb anymore but the contacts in my phne whom I synced with fb a long time ago still have their last display photos lol

I believe Its in the sync options. Make sure you pick sync existing contacts only and not all. All puts all your facebook friends into your contacts

Try this:
Contacts > Menu > More > Display Options
Under Choose contacts to display click on Facebook, uncheck All Contacts.
Reboot. All the contacts you have in google should still sync with facebook and keep their contact picture updated.

Blazinan, That's a good workaround for getting pictures linked to my google contacts, but what about keeping them updated? I know it's not a huge issue and probably sounds nit-picky and trivial... but it seems like it should be an easy thing to accomplish:

Now this is bugging the crap out of me. The steps that I suggested in my previous post don't work. My facebook contacts still show up when I'm dialing

You are oh so welcome... doesn't it seem like a quick line of code could add an option to filter out facebook contacts from popping up in the dialer? I feel like this should be a standard feature in all roms.

I think I know why it's doing this. If you do the steps I outlined in my initial post, it will only show the phone numbers listed in facebook that actually have their number listed on their facebook profile. I don't think there is any way around this. But it does block the rest of the numbers who don't have their phone number listed on facebook.
Small consolation but at least it's not all my facebook contacts like I originally thought.

I was actually about to open up a new thread about the very question but then I found this! I hope it's okay to post in this even though it's a month old.
I just got this phone recently and I hate how my Facebook contacts show up in the dialer too! I chose "sync only existing contacts" or whatever, which is what I wanted (to keep all their info and pics up to date), but I don't understand why Facebook contacts with phone numbers that I DON'T have in my existing contacts are showing up as well! Has anyone found a solution to this? Or have you guys just un-synced Facebook contacts? =/
Ok this is infuriating. Some days ago i noticed the contact picture of my fiancee disappeared in the conversation with her on Hangouts. It just shows a green circle with a white head/body. But in the list of conversations, the contact picture shows up, as well as any notifications from messages she sends. Her contact picture still works 100% correctly on my work phone that has the same google account on it as well. I logged into contacts.google.com and updated her photo there, and it syncronized on both my phones but on my main phone (Galaxy S7 Edge), in the actual conversation it still shows the blank contact pic, but in the conversation list and notifications the contact pic i set does appear. I check my settings and it says Contacts sync is having a problem. Turning it off and back on a few times gets that error to go away, but still nothing. Everything from clearing cache, to clearing data, to disabling hangouts and renabling it, rebooting my phone multiple times....nothing. So then i add a different account on my phone to hangouts, and add my fiancee there and her contact picture works 100% like it should. What the heck is going on? Id say its isolated to my account but my account on my work phone (galaxy s4) has her contact picture working just fine. My account on my s7e is the one not showing her contact pic in conversation, but a different account on the same phone works fine? This is driving me nuts. Ive also verified that the contact picture shows up properly in both conversation list and actual conversation on the integrated hangouts messenger on gmail.com. I even watched it update there, both ways. She doesn't have a google+ photo set, however that was never an issue before.
Does anyone have any solutions to this issue? Thanks
Having the same issue in Hangouts on my Nexus 6. For some of my contacts, their photo shows correctly in the conversation list and in the conversation list itself. Others have the issue as you described. I've tried some of the same things you mentioned. Can't figure it out either but it is annoying as heck not being able to tell at a glance who said what in a conversation. I realize the names are below the messages but the pictures are a lot easier to use.

What makes it worse is that my work phone that had my Google account on it synced, everything's working as it should be. But not my personal phone. It doesn't make any sense.

There was some update to Hangouts couple of days ago and I think Google changed where the picture come from. Now only contacts with Google+ picture are show correctly and it ignores pictures assigned trough gmail contacts. It's the same on my wife's Galaxy S7 and mine Motorola Droid Turbo.

That is unfortunate. Updated hangouts on my work phone and the same exact thing happened. Guess you're right. Who do we complain to to try to get that changed back?
What I find especially odd though is that the assigned contact pic still shows up in the hangouts notifications and conversation list, just not the conversation itself.

Same here, I really dislike it.
It does it when using hangouts on the desktop as well. It makes it difficult when I have multiple chats open to quickly tell which chat belongs to which friend.
I'm having this problem as well. I've temporarily switched to Messenger until I can find a fix.
