[Q] GingerBread v021b vs. Floyo? - XPERIA X8 General

Hi everyone,
First of all I'd like to thank the awesome developers that made these roms possible! I've really enjoyed using them
But now I'm getting really confused with all these roms.. As far as I can see there are 3 good ones I can use; GingerBread v021b, Floyo (2.2.5) v1.0a HACKDROID and 2.2.9 CM Floyo v0.30. But for example, these 2 Floyo roms, are they different? (Floyo & CM Floyo) And which rom is the best one (most options, best performance, etc) because I'm really confused now xd
Thanks in advance,
Alex

Floyo 1.0a has lots of bugs (market, maps, wifi issues), I can recommend you Floyo 1.0, it works fine

One thing to point out though is that Floyo 1.0 is based on FroyoBread v018 code so it has some bugs, that FroyoBread originally has. Namely the recorded videos have out of sync audio when played.
P.S.: I actually posted a thread for this Video/Audio sync issue here in the general section, asking if anybody knows a fix or workaround.

[Q] Elelinux or CM7 and why?

I have been a user of Elelinux for a long while -- after trying several other ROMs: I simply think it is the best out there in terms of long term stability.
About a couple of days ago, I decided to give a try to CM7 and so far I am pretty impressed with it, but it does have its bad moments here and there with some unexpected slowdowns or FCs.
Which of the two is better in your opinion and why? Also, if you have another 2.3 ROM in mind let me know which it is, so I can give it a try.
Elelinux : Continous development so it's updated frequently, A2SD-EXT included.
CM7 : The development for the hero stopped. AFAIK they don't have a dedicated developer for HTC HERO GSM anymore so it's outdated. A2SD-EXT is missing and if you flash one, you are stuck in a bootloop.
Elelinux is the best i think
I use Elelinux which i think is the best for my hero.
It has been so reliable and fast. not had any problems.
Tried others and none where as good i think.
It is great i can run gingerbread on my hero so well.
Love it.
Well done Elelinux for a great rom.
Long time CM user here.
Changes specifically made for the CM7 hero / base can be seen here:
cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=hero
(The forum requires me to have 8 posts to post a useful link. This isn't fun.)
Also, what do you guys think of Cronos Ginger?
The last CM 7 nightly I Flashed was #22, hero GSM. Very active and stable.. performance/19-748/no-compcache /32mb-vmheap
Had a few force closes due to me pushing it.. but less than i expected at 748..
Avoided good advice .. installed setCPU to try ' interactive ' governor.. What was striking is that after seeing a report after checking mail, twitter, YouTube, etc. I spent very little time @ 748 .. spent most time under 567.. quite smooth.. oc over 567+ really makes little difference for light usage.. wish I kept the report to post here.. just my 2cents..

Why is that?
You do know that if you are running Elelinux, means you are running Officially: Cronos.... I do not understand why Elelinux has not been banned because of releasing a rom based fully on Cronos.

Fastest 2.3 rom?

Which is the fastest 2.3 rom? I use setcpu to overclock on every rom. Tell me your opinion

Its all down to personal choice really
So far I like Elellinux's Roms and Feeyo's they both are the best so far for me....
I tried the elelinux rom but i had so much freezes especially when someone calls me. I used overclock again. Can you pm me some 2.3 roms i could flash? thanks

www.hrdb.tk - take a look at the roms on my homepage. the latest releases are the best. at the moment feeyo (cronos) and elelinux are working on their roms. so you should choose one of them.
EliLinux had some issues the last release, but the latest release is very stable for me, and is pretty fast.
I current have Elelinux's v2.1 build of CM 7.1 / Android 2.3.4 on my phone, and it is running quite well. I have not tried 2.3 yet. Feeyo's Cronos Ginger 2.2.0 is getting some very positive feedback. I had CG 2.1.0 for a while, but the default kernel just did not play well on my phone, so I had gone back to CG 1.9.5 for a bit.
I tried Elelinux's v2.2 and Cronos 2.2, while Ele's seems to be a little smoother, the battery life isn't good at all. On the other hand, Cronos 2.2's battery life is great, but I missed all the CM7 options...
stantang, i have the same problem as you described ;/ used ele's rom but it sometimes freezes when incall comes... I've flashed almost everything from iPasta's site but don't have my favorite.
Best way for me is to wait for CM7 stable for hero (but how long should we?).
Back to thread, fastest for me was Ele's, but i had problems with GPS so i don't use it any longer.
Hello.
Elelinux's one is great !
Cheers.

Feeyo's Cronos Ginger 2.2.0 working like a charm for me.
I will try out mentioned roms when i have time currently my Folio 100 tablet's Honeycomb port keeps me busy thanks for the answers!

Elelinux FTW
I've tried Cronos, Herolatte (my current daily rom because its pretty) and Elelinux. I would definately have to say that elelinux is the fastest and most stable ROM. Cronos is pretty damn good as well (I love the font on it) and Herolatte has sense albeit it's a little slow at the moment. It all comes down to personal choice but with the number of flashable extras, sheer speed and stability of it, I have constantly found myself coming back to Elelinux.
..And they said Hero would never get to taste the Gingerbread...
EleLinux alll the wayyy baby

[Q] Hello! Help for newbie

Dear all,
I'm new to the smartphone game, just got an X8 for my mom.
I would like to upgrade to a smoother, faster ROM for her.
Her main requirements:
1) Fully working camera,
2) Music player
3) Wifi for facebook and gmail app
Which rom would you recommend? I prefer 2.3 but 2.2 is more than enough for her I guess, as long as it's stable.
Another question, after I install the rom, do I need to manually re-add all the contacts, and their customization (ie ringtones, pics, etc).
Thank you in advance for your patience and answers.
there are no gingerbread rom with a fully working camera yet..but theres is a few complete froyo rom..maybe you should check out floyo by racht, minicm by povanon, and elelinux v6 from frogy furnatel..but in my opinion, elelinux v6 seems to be the most stable of all..
you have to backup the contact before you us the rom and restore it after using new rom..ringtones and pics will not lose if you place it in sd card, but all of sony original stuff will be gone for good..
Using miniCM6 now, quite stable, lag free, everything works (at least in MY apps)...
Cons : fast battery drain.
Cheers to the developers!
use racht's floyo 0.20..no oc but fast n stable
I disabled the OC in my miniCM, as it cannot boot up with the OC.
Elelinux v006 + patch, working all.

If that phone is for your mum, than install Elelinux. On miniCm theres a bug when baterry is 10% or less, screen dims, goes black etc...
Elelinux is free of that bug, and battery last for long.
For example: I had 6% of batt last night at 1:00 AM, when I woke up, it still was at 6%. Than I chacked facebook and used tapatalk for 10mins, and it droped to 5.
Battery draind at 4pm.
ELELINUX FTW, belive me!
don't even try to waste your time flashing miniCM, it's laggy even when oc'd, try floyo or elelinux - satisfaction guaranteed.
Use racht floyo v. 20 its stable and fast
And about the contact make an export and import to the SD card by going to contact then menu
Hope I helped
proud owner of sexperia X8
I got yesterday FroyoBread by doixanh, and I really appreciate this rom...it´s smooth and stable.

[Q] guidance needed

Hey folks.
Ive been trying android builds for.a while now and tbh i just cant find what i need...
Evey build i try there are allways some damn issues like freezing. Lagging etc.
Can any1 suggest a build with high stability and speed? Not intrestid im i-candy...just want a solid issue free build if possible.
Thank you.
cm7 and miui builds have no lags or freezes.
tytung nexus hd2
Cm7 runs like a dream, ty very much!
its a pretty old rom but i like RAFDROID HD found here. the problem is people have different taste so what i like you may not. i do feel its a great rom, no freezing or lag problems..well none that i have anyway. i will say the only two things about this ROM i dont like are you can have custom bootanimations and you cant share a photo from inside the camera app. just go into gallery instead to share.

Need a little advice

Hello there.
Im not sure if there ist something like that but if not i realy would need it.
A ranking of the Roms or something like that.
I am trying arround some and have found many with grafik glitches and other problems. I have problems to understand in the nand thread which of those tons of roms are good. The newes? not realy.
anyway im serching for an android rom which is minimum 2.3.5 and with a good version of sense + facebook sense.it should be as stable as posible and everything should work excapt the 720p recording.
could someone give me a hint or share experiance with me. would be realy thankful.

Well this is going to be my own personal opinion on some sorts. If you want a fully stable android 2.3.5 then I would suggest the CM7 mod, as for 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0, I would suggest the Energy Rom. (Also both roms are NAND devs).
I think pretty much all sense 3 roms still have quite a few problems and every sense rom I have tried has been slow and laggy with graphical problems. There are a few sense 3 roms out now so your best bet is to try a few out and see if you are happy with any of them over a stock gingerbread rom which are alot smoother and more stable.
Start with ENERGY SENSE 3, RUNNYMEDE SENSE 3.5 and BOYPPC SENSE 3. Read the first few posts of each rom to see what works and what doesnt and also the last few pages of each rom to find out if there any problems with the latest version. You can then make up your own mind.
Mark.
ist there a link?
A sticky list would be great with data like :
Name - Camera (Stable, 720p) - Multitouch (Yes/no)
The dev forum is very uncomfortable for a clean search.

There is a website that a member made to compare all versions and hass a good look. The website is *HERE* and has a few filters to find the rom you want. It doesnt go into great depth but it has basic information and could be useful.
Mark.
I did about the same search. The glitches in every rom with Sense 3.0 did me drop Sense at all. I must say, in my experience the CM7 ROM with Fancy Widget is a good stable replacement.
