Fastest 2.3 rom? - Hero, G2 Touch General

Which is the fastest 2.3 rom? I use setcpu to overclock on every rom. Tell me your opinion
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA Premium App

Its all down to personal choice really
So far I like Elellinux's Roms and Feeyo's they both are the best so far for me....

I tried the elelinux rom but i had so much freezes especially when someone calls me. I used overclock again. Can you pm me some 2.3 roms i could flash? thanks

www.hrdb.tk - take a look at the roms on my homepage. the latest releases are the best. at the moment feeyo (cronos) and elelinux are working on their roms. so you should choose one of them.

EliLinux had some issues the last release, but the latest release is very stable for me, and is pretty fast.

I current have Elelinux's v2.1 build of CM 7.1 / Android 2.3.4 on my phone, and it is running quite well. I have not tried 2.3 yet. Feeyo's Cronos Ginger 2.2.0 is getting some very positive feedback. I had CG 2.1.0 for a while, but the default kernel just did not play well on my phone, so I had gone back to CG 1.9.5 for a bit.

I tried Elelinux's v2.2 and Cronos 2.2, while Ele's seems to be a little smoother, the battery life isn't good at all. On the other hand, Cronos 2.2's battery life is great, but I missed all the CM7 options...

stantang, i have the same problem as you described ;/ used ele's rom but it sometimes freezes when incall comes... I've flashed almost everything from iPasta's site but don't have my favorite.
Best way for me is to wait for CM7 stable for hero (but how long should we?).
Back to thread, fastest for me was Ele's, but i had problems with GPS so i don't use it any longer.

Hello.
Elelinux's one is great !
Cheers.

Feeyo's Cronos Ginger 2.2.0 working like a charm for me.

I will try out mentioned roms when i have time currently my Folio 100 tablet's Honeycomb port keeps me busy thanks for the answers!

Elelinux FTW
I've tried Cronos, Herolatte (my current daily rom because its pretty) and Elelinux. I would definately have to say that elelinux is the fastest and most stable ROM. Cronos is pretty damn good as well (I love the font on it) and Herolatte has sense albeit it's a little slow at the moment. It all comes down to personal choice but with the number of flashable extras, sheer speed and stability of it, I have constantly found myself coming back to Elelinux.
..And they said Hero would never get to taste the Gingerbread...

EleLinux alll the wayyy baby

Which ROM would you recommend?

I'm currently using FroydVillain 1.5. The problem i have with it is it quite often seems laggy and slow. It also tends to stop responding sometimes when the screen is on and when the screen is off, both times meaning i need to remove the battery and put it back in again and restart the phone. FroydVillain also has numerous other bugs to do with the gallery app and camera app which are quite inconvenient a lot of the time. So i'm looking for a solution.
What's the fastest Hero ROM for Froyo, and which is most reliable? What do most people use these days?
I'm not a technical person so try and keep it simple enough please.
Floyo with flykernel for speed. But I am using cyanogen with that kernel on my hero
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
VR12 with Flykernel is fast and stable on my device.
Cronos 1.6.0 with gani's galaxy s theme, puckerrr
Sent from my HTC Hero using Tapatalk
if you are looking for a sense rom i would suggest modaco custom rom.. i´m using it and it just works. no problems..
I have experienced all of the problems with FV 1.5, but recently I've tried FroydVillain 1.6 and the speed is SICK. And I really do mean WICKED SICK. Try it, you won't regret it.

I m trying Froydvillain 1.6 And works really good. Much better than 1.5
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
I tryed all Froyo Rom on my Hero and my choose was Floyo.
- Floyo 1.1.9 is the most stable for me. For a great experience you can add Launcher Pro and remove the included launcher with the "ReplaceSystemLauncher" utility (see Floyo post for more informations)
FroydVillain 1.6 (with 1.6.2 beta update) is very complete and amazing but a little bit buggy at the moment. I hope in future updates. Note: I found GPS works very very well in this rom.
I can suggest villainrom 12. I have tried numerous newer roms but they are laggy, especialy floyo.
Hello there
I'm currently using RCmix, which lately is getting more and more laggy.
I like sense, but I'm willing to test Vanila ROM's.
Checked 0.7 Froyo sense, but I frequently use camera, so that's out of the question.
So which ROM would You recomend ? Villain 1.6.1 / Floyo ? I think that others are quite old. Or perhaps nightly/CM rc1 ?
There is also Tegro , slide ROM.
I just want a rom that works
What do You recommend ? or should I just backup everything and test run everything for a week and decide ?
cheers!
I've been using Froyd 1.6 since it was released and its been great. Battery life is fantastic only dropping 20% on light usage days. Text/call/game 5 mins.
I'm not sure i'll even bother with the patches at this stage as its been so good.
I started on 2.1 stock which was quite nice but since purchasing the phone I wanted to root it and install custom roms etc and from the research the Villain roms seemed the best option. I had Villain Rom 12.0 and Froyd 1.5 before and have found 1.6 to be much faster.
I haven't tried any of the others though so don't have a wealth of experience as some other users might do. Really it depends on what you want from a Rom... There are always going to be trade offs with the Hero.
GLHF whatever Rom you choose and give some feedback on the ones you do try as I'm def interested.
Well I was using fv1.5 a while back. Switched to floyo 1.1.9, which is a great rom. speedy at 614Mhz, had only 2 FC's in a month. Battery life was good, getting about 16 hours with light-medium usage. Am currently testing fv1.6 now tho. Have calibrated my battery, so hopefully it will last longer than fv1.5 did. Speed Is also fast on 578Mhz. Haven't tried overclocking yet. But its best to try different ones yourself and see which one suits you

[Q] Elelinux or CM7 and why?

I have been a user of Elelinux for a long while -- after trying several other ROMs: I simply think it is the best out there in terms of long term stability.
About a couple of days ago, I decided to give a try to CM7 and so far I am pretty impressed with it, but it does have its bad moments here and there with some unexpected slowdowns or FCs.
Which of the two is better in your opinion and why? Also, if you have another 2.3 ROM in mind let me know which it is, so I can give it a try.
Elelinux : Continous development so it's updated frequently, A2SD-EXT included.
CM7 : The development for the hero stopped. AFAIK they don't have a dedicated developer for HTC HERO GSM anymore so it's outdated. A2SD-EXT is missing and if you flash one, you are stuck in a bootloop.
Elelinux is the best i think
I use Elelinux which i think is the best for my hero.
It has been so reliable and fast. not had any problems.
Tried others and none where as good i think.
It is great i can run gingerbread on my hero so well.
Love it.
Well done Elelinux for a great rom.
Long time CM user here.
Changes specifically made for the CM7 hero / base can be seen here:
cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=hero
(The forum requires me to have 8 posts to post a useful link. This isn't fun.)
Also, what do you guys think of Cronos Ginger?
The last CM 7 nightly I Flashed was #22, hero GSM. Very active and stable.. performance/19-748/no-compcache /32mb-vmheap
Had a few force closes due to me pushing it.. but less than i expected at 748..
Avoided good advice .. installed setCPU to try ' interactive ' governor.. What was striking is that after seeing a report after checking mail, twitter, YouTube, etc. I spent very little time @ 748 .. spent most time under 567.. quite smooth.. oc over 567+ really makes little difference for light usage.. wish I kept the report to post here.. just my 2cents..

isn't elelinux's rom built on CM7 rom?
it should contains good points of CM7, with more great features

Why is that?
You do know that if you are running Elelinux, means you are running Officially: Cronos.... I do not understand why Elelinux has not been banned because of releasing a rom based fully on Cronos.

Best Sense Rom?

Hey guys, I'm looking for a new Hero rom, would prefer it being Froyo or Gingerbread. Hopefully I can get a sense rom because I like the syncing options and the sense clock. Are there any roms out there that would suit my need, I know the camera is a bit of a PITA with Sense but I can live without a working cam. Running one of the CM7 betas still on my phone at the moment and I'm kinda getting bored with it. Hope you can help
TIA
Well VR13 is the best IMO but it's 2.1.
SalsaSense is the best 2.3 Sense ROM but it's a bit slow at times. Hopefully that will improve over time since it is beta.
Thanks for the reply, I was running SalsaSense for a few hours but was a bit laggy for me at times, If it weren't for push notifications I'd love to go back to Eclair
2.3 sense was too unstable for me, though I have to say I was impressed of SalsaSense. Erasmux HeroLatte has got some real potential if the work continues, it's still way faster than SalsaSense. The fastest sense rom is probably VR13/ Elelinux 2.1 reloaded, but my favorite is the Tegro Sense rom. It's espresso sense (=good looking) and supports landscape
I decided to go ahead and flash tegro so far its easily my favourite Rom I've used. Minimum amount of bugs , sense and froyo, all together I'm happy thanks for the suggestions guys

hey man if you like sense you can try VillainROM-v13 it's awesome and very fast and camera also work in it but i adore salsasense so i have solve the problem of laggy by flashing (salsasense laite version ) it's awesome and fast
Where did you download salsasense laite version?
In the SalsaSense thread.

I've been using SalsaSense for a few day, and really enjoying it. It needs a big improvement in speed though...
fr speed stick to 2.1 sense roms like elilinux reloaded http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1003381
i believe erasmux released a new update to his herolatte,0.5 version was really fast n check out the 0.9 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1026699
During my plenty of test, this is the one i finally stated at :
[ROM]Elelinux-Hero-2.1-update1-Reloaded * WWE *2011-05-26
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1003381
it's done by elelinux, which is obvious, 2.1 ROM, as world wide stock, plenty of languages no CHinese. Official alike, just rooted and with app2sd which is essential for Hero to install more.
VillainROM-v13 KERNEL?
What kernel should I use for VillainROM-v13?
FlyKernel or stock one IMO.
Can you post link to kernels? Thanks!
SalsaSense
Now testing SalsaSence RC1 with kernel LV 0.4.6. The developers have released version RC2, I don`t want to firm it, waiting for all of bugs would be corrected.
RC1 in conjunction with the kernel LV pleasantly surprised by his fast work,
and of course there`re some minuses.
When you upload content from the Market, downloading status is lost. The same thing happens when booting from HTC Hub. The truth is not always the case.
In general, I will hope that the developers will bring work to the end and make a decent and reliable firmware-based Salsa
SalsaSence RC2.5 with kernel LV 0.4.7!!
I test the last RC2 and it works fine (for me...)
The greatest sense ROM i have tested!!
And sense 2.1 is Awesome! (for my Hero!)
i agree salsa sense is good but it still has its problems, the sense 2.1 roms are much more usable
I also prefer salsa 2.3

What is the best ROm

Hey folks, what is the best ROM you have ever tried for Wildfire, and why?
CM7, very stable and because it's gingerbread. Also frequently updated and in my language (dutch)
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
CM7: rich in features, allows overclocking, activity in bugfixing and many more great features and community.
CM7.1 Nightlies all the way! They are stable and fast, especially after#149.

Really Depends if you want sense etc etc theres plenty of good roms.
Well CM7 runs quite slow after a day or even less, even if you overclock...it's because Gingerbread is quite demanding on this little fellow.
You could try Cm7 Nightly 151 and Rempuzzle (sense froyo with widgets+WIL script+cm7 kernel for OC) and see there is a big difference.
Personally, I liked CM7 a lot, and still do, since i've used it for half an year or so, but a stock android just can't bring what I need, nor market apps, but htc sense does.
I hope I helped. Good luck with your choice.

I do agree that CM7 is much better .......but there are some flows in it...
Like……… dialing pad is not much attractive, pathetic Radio app, SENSE is not much attractive .......etc.................that my point of view
thanks guys for you advice, I have tried CM7 but it was a little bit laggy, also I tried Wildbuzzle, but now I'm using original ROM I think it's more stable than the other ROMs.

I won a wildfire and I liked him with the CM7

Most stable Desire Z ROM?

Hi
Currently Im on Cyanogenmod 7.2.0 RC1 nightly 414 and while OK, the other day it had a HORRIBLE (unbearable) slowdown period. Even multiple restarts didnt help. Finally it seems it fixed itself but Ive looking for something new. I use Go Launcher if that makes any difference. Im into speed but I think Im going to go with stable over speed this time.
What ROM do you recommend? Also nothing broken (automatically discards all CM9 ROMs)
If you are into Sense UI, go for Virtuous ROM, stock ROM tweaked + enhancements. If CM7 works if you are into vanilla ROMs.
I have been using virtuous glite 2.0.1 its stable I had no issues at all and I get great battery life, plus its slightly overclocked. Gslim1.6 is also very good but I had better battery life with glite. Both roms are based on GB 2.3.4. Here is a good rom index thread it lists all G2-Desire Z roms

Yes, Im aware of the list but I wanted user feedback.
(Im not talking to any of you or anyone else Dont take this the wrong way at all as it is not a insult to any of you). Its funny: People ***** (a lot) when their ROMs go bad but when they are great, they dont say anything at all.
WOW G-lite is VERY old...
and i like ROMs with features; stripped down versions are not for me
sound like you will be most happy with elitemod, the cm7 based rom although i have been testing out nik3r's ics rom and like it better than most ics roms, i would go with his gingerbread rom. should be all you are looking for and great support from nik3r as well

Damn I'm still happily running it! If it works great why worry how old it is. It's a testament to how well it works as it sits. anyways I'm waiting for a stable cyanogen 9. Then maybe, frankly I don't want to mess with it too much I want plain Android and I can customize it from there

I don't think you have tried much of the Sense ROMs back then, or maybe you were doing something wrong. I have had quite a few stable and fast sense ROMs. Of course they were not as fast as vanilla ones, but it works, knowing that you are the type who wants more features in ROMs.

Have you tried a CM9 Rom lately? Don't let the Beta name scare you, I have found the latest andromadus audacity extremely reliable, and everything works. I actually think it has less bugs then my stock htc GB rom.

Same, though I'm still tweaking my SetCPU settings and such, I like EliteMod's ICS rom the most right now particularly in terms of features and responsiveness. I was trying the unofficial CM9beta13 for a couple days and that thing was eating battery like no-body's business. EliteMod seems to be much more tweaked as it's the same setup Nik3r is using for his own personal Desire-Z.
But far as stability goes, I would agree that going with a Ginger rom would be the best bet, ICS right now is still too experimental in my opinion.
I've never tried the CM7 version of EliteMod, only the official CM 7.2.0 which was ok-ish for me. The EliteMod ICS Rom to me feels much faster and responsive than even the stock CM7rom, and I much prefer QuickPix app the EliteMod uses over that slow-arse Gallery app in CM7.
I would recommend andromadus mimicry (ics) its pretty stable and everything works (for me at least). It has the ics specific flaws like scrambled text in app drawer but launcher restart fixes it. Using this rom for 2 weeks and had this text issue 1 time. Battery is good also
Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk 2
You should try Elitemod cm7 it has never failed me, all the features you need, speed and stabiity plus amaizing battery life. If you wanna go ICS get the cm9 elitemod, but it is still a bit buggy.
I tried a lot of roms, and I always came back to ILWT CM7 (not new versions). Sense roms are quite good but not on Desire Z (too small amount of ram memory, multitasking on sense roms are poor - even on sense 2.1 roms with supercharger script). I waiting for stable CM9 (and yes i tried all versions of CM9 but text glitches and manually change apn to send/receives mms, makes me nervous).
That is only my subjective opinion
Anything CM7 based is very stable. Probably the most stable of all. Stay away from CM9 or anything ICS on this phone for another few months in terms of stability.

Going to install the Beta14 right now, the ALPHA 1 month ago had a lot of issues... but that was 1 month ago. Will post back...
Try Quadrasense! Not true that rom based on CM9 is not stable....
Quadrasense is very fast and stable
inviato da HTC Desire Z
For most stable overall rom I would recommend the latest ILWT CM7. For most stable ICS rom I would recommend the Andromadus Mimicry rom.
