I have a problem with my desire Z, the LED notification (not the trackpad), It report new messages only for 5 minutes, then goes out and does not report them anymore.
I tried Gosms, Handcent, but nothing changes, and if I leave the stock message app can not set the stock LED.
Help
no one?
Telling us what rom (custom or stock) as well as kernel (custom or stock) would probably get you more answers.
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using XDA App
Stock rom, Gingerb 2.3.3
Kernel: 2.6.35.10
Sense 2.1
no LED at all
I found this thread while searching for solutions to LED problems too. I've tried CM7.0.3, CM7.1RC1, HTCClay SuperCM7, GoSMS, Handcent, stock SMS, none of them will light up the LED for SMS notifications or anything else besides low battery or charging battery. any link to some LED faq would be great.
I'm in the same boat. Just picked up a DZ and the notification LED timing out after 5 mins is a real bind... kind of defeats the purpose of having an LED if I have to switch on the screen to check in case a message arrived 6 minutes ago when I was away from my desk!
Anyone have any ideas about how to keep the LED flashing?.. I'm on the stock UK SIM-free ROM, Gingerbread.
LED Me Know used to work, until the upgrade to Android 2.3
I had it working until my update last week!

Hi everyone,
Thanks to KarrdeNZ's well written guide, I managed to flash my rom to
********Hero ROM for Magic modded for TW users (based on Fatal1ty2787's releases)********

I just noticed that my phone's LED lights are missing. The LED doesnt light up while charging, and it doesnt light up when receiving SMS as well. I think the LEDs just disappeared completely.
Anyone encounters this and is there anyway to solve it?
Thanks!
led lights do not currently work on Hero Roms, although there are a few hacks to make it work over at the "Dream development forum" of this site..
...someone who needs notification leds that do not time out?
Hi guys, and happy new year to everyone!!!
I am trying to setup a friend's wildfire, and i need to flash a new rom.
My friends biggest issue with the stock rom is that the missed call / new sms notification leds timeout after 5 minutes. This is not good for him because he needs the leds to stay on until he interacts with his phone.
Is there a rom out there that supports something like that?
I already tried "ledmeknow" and "missed call" but the leds still timeout after 5 mins, despite the fact that i have disabled the stock notifications...
Can somebody recommend a ROM?
Thanks very much
aalex
No ROM supports this AFAIK. I still think you are doing something wrong, because, just yesterday mornng, I woke up to find my Wildfire's LED on, and, a notification saying I received an SMS 2 hours back.

Hey 3xeno,
Nice to see you again... I probably am doing something wrong LOL...
I am still waiting for a response from the developer of ledmeknow, but i thought i might see if anybody has had more luck with another rom, before i start a long trial and error process and flash all available roms - i am on holiday and have a bit of time on my hands lol...
Try all the roms available. The notififcation LEDs work fine in all cases for me.
Hi guys,
I flashed the Wildpuzzle rom and ledmeknow works perfectly now!!
Thanks for the help guys!!

Hi,
I finally took the plunge and installed this rom and must say it's great, thanks!
Everything is working good thus far except the trackball does not light up like when I had 2.1 Sense (VillainROM12). It would flash briefly and rapidly and then go, whereas before it would remain lit until I had read the message. Likewise, the amber led would flash but that's gone too. I'm using Handcent as my SMS app and I've set it on in the settings like I did before.
Can someone tell me how I can get these features back please? Thanks.
Hi XDA
I'm running Cyanogenmod Nightly, at the latest Kang but, since the official nightly of some months ago, the led started to behave differently:
Before it flashed in green for notifications, and in red when the battery was out;
now, even for notifications, it flashes always in red...it gets green only when plugged and the battery is charged, and with notifications when charged and plugged.
I tried various utilities for led configurations, but none of them fixed it..
Am I the only wanting the old led behaviour?

Try Light Flow its in the market, After setting it up and configuring your led's, reboot to see it take effect.
I'm on the latest kang as well n have been using Light Flow ever since nightlies have been pushed out.
Some of the latest official nightlies seemed to mess up the LED stuff. I use Light Flow, which works perfectly for me.
Sent from my Desire Z running CM7.
Thank you for the advices!!
Is this Light flow a program that runs in background or something?
Do i need the paid version?

Yes, it's a program that runs in the background. It also works with your Accesibilty options free vrsion works just fine.
Also, as a suggestion, tsubus, an xda user who is compiling nightlies (ILWT) has created a zip file that can be flashed via recovery that will revert led notifications back to their old behavior. The file can be found in ROM Manager or the ILWT OP here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242480 It should work with any CM7 based ROM.

Testing in a few minutes...i'll let ya know!
This patch works like a charm!!! that's just what i wanted...i tendo to avoid programs running in BG
Big thanks to you!!!
Will i have to flash this every time i update my rom?
That patch will have to be applied everytime you wipe data. If you update your rom and just clear the caches, you will not have to reflash the patch.
Hello
I am experiencing the same issue. I tried the patch from the ILWT page but it doesn't seem to be working. I have the CM7.2.0 stable release on HTC Desire Z.
If you want true led notification get an N1

along the same lines I downloaded that program but it only shows 3 colors? I am new to the G2 from blackberry and G1 before that. Are there really only 3 colors in the G2 LED?
Thx.

Hi,
I've finally received my Nexus 4, and quickly upgraded to Android 4.2.2
One thing I noticed is that my notification LED does not seem to light up when receiving email from the Gmail app, nor does it light up while charging the phone using the LG charger.
Edit:I've just noticed a white LED notification for email... I didn't notice it before because it was very low-key and had a large time interval.
Is it supposed to be like this, or is the phone faulty?
P.S. Does the LG charger make a rattling noise for anyone else when it is not connected to the phone?

I know that the LED is not supposed to light up when charging (some custom ROMs have this feature though) and the charger "rattling" is a known issue.
The gmail thing is software side, for sure. So I'd say your phone is fine

the led notifications on stock rom aren't that great. they have a very long pause in between each flash so it's hard to see.
download and use lightflow. i purchased it from the play store and it was definitely worth it. you will get the ability to customize how and when the led flashes and for which app you'd like to receive notifications from.

I hated LightFlow on my GNex, and I still hate it on my N4. I much prefer CyanogenMod's custom LED notifications. They actually work like they're supposed to, and don't get stuck on.
Light Flow works great on my N4. Have a look at the thread on it in the Apps forum, you'll see the number of people having problems is very small.

If you use light flow make sure to use their widget because with out it you will think that it was staying on when you didn't mark am e mail or sms read.
