How to backup all my SMS on Tmo HD2??! - HD2 General

guys how i can back up my SMS on my HTC to be readable on pc and i can put them back on my mobile
Thank you

you can use pim backup.

i backed up all te things in a file now on my card but i want to be able to read my SMS's on my pc through that how i can do it?

Pim Backup creates an XML file as far as i know. You should be able to open the file on your PC with a normal text editor like notepad and be able to read your messages.
This is the only option i know since Microsoft shut down the myphone Service.

iMobile sms backup is good for this as you also get a pc viewing editing tool. The most accurate for purely backup is SPB backup & doing custom messaging backup, PimBackup & iMobile do not backup all folders correctly, MMS are not backed up & sent folder will be empty. SPB mail,MMS,SMS & contacts can be viewed via SPB unpack viewer, you can also load SPB Messaging & contacts backup into the PC WM emulation software giving you viewabilty/edibility to cover a huge amount of future import export scenarios ...

Is it possible u give me the full version of SPB backup??!
thank you

Edit...... my bad

Can I back up phone SMS's to my PC?

Whn I use Activsync I can back up Outlook calendar, contacts etc.
But, can I back up my text msgs in my inbox on the phone?
If so, how do I do that?
many thanks
nicojo
i did not try that yet. . .
but you can use Jeyo Mobile Companion. .
its not free but i thinks its worth the fee , PIM Backup also backup SMS via ppc itself.
awesome and free software would be PIM,
you can store the file(s) on your device and copy it to your pc afterwards!
Thx open_source
Do u have a link to a specific app?
I tried AllExport v3.1 which says:
"With this program, you can backup, restore and export all your messages (SMS, MMS, E-mail, etc.) which are stored in Messaging application."
I installed it but couldn't see how to back up SMS, only contacts list
Anyone tried this program?
thx

try using microsoft my phone?
Install pimbackup on your phone or just run it as an application (.exe)
You can find it everywhere on the internet
After that start the program and select backup....
Give the backup a location (I'm always using storage card)
After that just do your thing, flash rom or manila as you suggested.
Now start PPCpimbackup and "restore" search on sd card your backup and finished. That's all.
Good Luck
pim backup is ok, but not satisfing... I encounter a strange order of threaded sms in titanium edition.
with SPB backup.... it worked fine.
ok, it is a commercial product, so you may investigate further, but I did the trick for me.
beside: it may not be the greatest idea to import mass of sms into manilla 2.5.
I've tried PimBackup and Sprite Backup.
Both backup and restore fine the SMSs, but PIM when restoring, when using the HTC Messaging client, don't put the pictures of the contacts in convertation mode. With Sprite Backup I have no issues...
MOD EDIT - Moved to general discussion
Thankyou for your replies I intend to flash my phone tonight - I have flashed my phone many times, It will be the first time using manila 2.5

Transfer SMS from HD2 to PC

Hey there,
My SMS program is lagging a lot due to having too many messages, is there anyway i can transfer them to my pc?
Ive tried searching but i cant seem to find what im looking for!
Thanks!!
Take a look at Jeyo Mobile Extender. Integrates perfectly with Outlook 2007. When registering your name, make sure its the same as the 'ME' in the HD2 contacts list.
or use microsoft myphone and archive the messages. They will be removed from your phone on next sync, but will be kept online. not sure if you can UNARCHIVE messages though if you want them back on the phone .....
If you just want to STORE them on the pc and not READ them there, then use PIM Manager to do a complete backup on your storage card. Remove the backup from the card, and move it to your PC. Then delete all your SMSes from your phone.... If you want to reinstall ALL SMSes at a future date, do a backup, put the old, stored backup back on your storage card, restore the OLD backup, then restore the NEW backup, making sure that on the second restore you untick the boxes telling it to delete messages
EDIT:
Just checked MyPhone FAQs, and yes, the archived material CAN be restored to the phone.
gonna try it now!
thanks for the response!!

[HELP!!] moving contacts/messages from wm6 to android

Hello!
my old phone (wm6.1 htc diamond) has been stolen yesterday. i have got a backup of this device including messages and contacts. the backup was made by spb backup.
now i bougt a new phone...a sexy galaxy s i9000 *happy*
after a huge look on google, i found out, that the software "sprite migrate" is able to transfer contacts+sms from wm6 to android.
here comes the problem.... i've only got the backup made with spb backup, but no device to restore the backup on (then i could use sprite migrate to transfer everything to android..)
is there at least any chance to get all the contacts&sms exported from the spb-backup file?

I have not tried this nor have i fully read it, but maybe this?:
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/backup/unpack.html
if you have the Original Full version of the spb backup, with the windows desktop client, then yes you can export the SMS.
but there is no easy way to import it into your Android phone.
as for contacts, that's the easiest thing, just connect to Google Contacts, and select import from a CSV file
use the SPB backup client export to export a CSV file

[Q] SMS-database: Where is it, how to read it?

I have now had the whole summer my sms-database messed up. I can read my messages only in threaded view, but I can't i any way back them up with pim-backup or smsImport. PimBackup sees only 149 messages in the inbox, and 73 in the outbox. PimBackup complains that
the messages file in \Application Data\Volatie\msg_20100902.csm can't be added to the backup file, an internal error (2) occured.

SmsImport exports only messages after 23.6.2010. I have about 1000 sms-messages in my device, and i can read all of them from the phone, but i would like to get them backed up before doing a clean install of the x2 (it's getting slow as all windowses do!!)
Does anyone know how to access these files, and how i could be able to read them/Extract the messages from them..?
Try another backup programs like SPB Backup or Sprite Backup.

Hi, backing up the files seem to work, it's just that they seem to be corrupted in some way.. I would like to get out all my sms:s, and reset the phone.
SPB Backup has a tool for PC to open archives. You can extract needed items. Or if there are errors while backing up, then it seems your databases are corrupted. Try to use MyPhone service - it backups your PIM to online storage. So later after reset you may restore your SMS.
smscontrolcenter
I use SMS Control Center and is very happy with it!
