I recently buy PNY 8GB SDHC card. Then I use it in my X8 running 2.2.1 FroyoBread. the problem is, sometimes the card stop working. when I play games, the game just stuck, and show FC messages. I restarted the phone, but same problem happens again. so I decided to do some test with the SD card. I got zero marks for SD card read/write speed in Antutu Benchmark. that means my SD card is not readable! I've tried to set sd card cache size to 2048, but I still can't get rid of the problem! anybody facing the same problem with their 8GB SD card?
No, im am using my 8GB SDHC card for a few months without any problems.

whats the brand then?
I´m using Kingston 8GB SDHC Class 4, and everything works, like playing games, file explorer and everything else that a sdcard can be used for.
I even set sd cache to 4096, and it works.
Try to install a newer version of FroyoBread, it should work on 0.18, 0.19 and 0.20.
Or install ponanovn´s latest version of miniCM, I´m currently using it and everything works.
Maybe try fully format.
I'm using a TOSHIBA 8Gb SDHC class 4 and I have never had this kind of problem...well, sometimes I had to format it because I couldn't download anything from market in CM6 ROMs...I suggest you a format from phone's settings...neither from recovery nor from pc...

thanks for the reply guys. maybe the problem is the SD Card itself. will try to find a new one today.

I'm running android on an ADATA Class 6 8gb microsd card. But I'm experiencing SODs after 2 days. I think its SD card corruption thats causing the SOD
Anyone using the ADATA SD card?
Thanks!
Did you try it only with one build, or did you try a few?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
i'm using it with the following perfectly fine.
baseband - 15.42.50
kernel - mdeejay S 3.1
Build - mdeejay Froyo revolution
I have been using the same sd card for the past few months running all different kind of android build as main OS for my phone without adverse effects.
Put the card into a computer and run a checkdisk for fixing errors...
Ive tried several roms. Matt Leo, MDJ Clean, MDJ Evo Sense and they've all had problems. I've scanned the sd for error and defraged the sd card as well.
I might try a few radio combination, but I'm currently using the latest radio. I've heard the 12 and the 14 radio works well.
I used an class 6 ADATA microSDHC card for a while, also 8GB. Stopped using it when I found out it was significantly outperformed by the class 4 Sandisk card I was using before.
It would seem not all class 6 cards are created equal.
i am using the 16gb ADATA (class 6) card, and have no problems with it.
//edit
why u defrag a SD card ? .. there is no need to do that

Just want to find someway to fix this 24 hrs sod problem. What did you guys do?
Did you try formatting the card? (Don't use the quick format option)
yesir... but after about a day or so the sod comes back
i'm using adata class 4 8GB card. Android is running fine for me. Although, i do reset my mob once a day almost daily...because i need to use software in Winmo, but it when running android there are no issues..
I have the same card as well, i'm not really experiencing any issues with my card so far and its been about a week or so. Im using VBN alt 2 with latest radio .. mdj froyo sense revolution 1.6
Ok...I've bought a new Lexar 16GB MicroSD Class 4 to replace my old Sandisk 8GB Class 4 card.
I copied everything across. However, I get random phone freezing.
The freezing only occurs when I have the new MicroSD in. I've replace it already with a new one, but it seems my phone doesn't like it.
I've tried:
1) Checking drive for errors
2) Reformatting drive using Windows
3) Reformatting drive using Android
4) Factory Reset phone
But its still the same.
[EDIT] It seems that Android is corrupting something on my card, because when I run chkdsk it comes up with the "Errors are Fixed" dialog....it says it puts the :"files in a 'FOUND' folder". However when I look into the MicroSD, there is no 'FOUND' folder. Also, copying files to and from the MicroSD card in Windows works fine.
HELP! and thanks.

Ok..I'll give it a go. Using SD Formatter with Full (Overwrite) option. I hope this works.
[EDIT] SD Formatter has not solved problem. Also, reformatting in 8k, 16k, 32k, 64k not working.
Annoyed.
I think Milestone2 have a SD card compatibility issue .many kind of sd card can't run well on the device .but sandisk is good on it .
I have the same problem, can´t fix... I think is a bug ...

IMO class doesnt matter...I have used data2sd on a class 2 sdcard without the lags
Dunno about app2sd, as i havent tried yet...
try with v3..if it lags, then go for v2, and if it lags, then got to v1
I have a 2gb class 2 sd card and everything works fine with app2sd v2
Many people still use the stock sd which came with the phone i.e. 2gb class 2
It doesnt lag - even when using dual/tri boot
Try app2sd v2 or data2sd
Both wont cause lag - never did for me
Are all microSDHC cards compatible with u8800?
Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk 2
I guess yes. I have one of 32bg and class 10 and works well
I bought this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004BR2ZTM
Some sd-cards are sd 3.0 and I don't know are they compatible.

I guess micro SD 3.0 is the same as micro SDXC, so it is impossible to work on our ideos X5

So I've bought a 64gb SDXC card and filled it full of music. Tried it in the phone, and it was stuck on "Checking for errors". I then plugged it back into my computer, deleted the partition and plugged it straight back into the phone. No dice, same problem.
This is on stock 2.2.1, I will try on Aurora ICS and report back. So far it does not look good.
Try it with gingerbread first as it updates some stuff in the hardware

I think u8800 is incompatible with sdxc .

SDXC is very different than SDHC. There isn't any XC phone yet. Please use SDHC cards and please format it with your phone. You phone knows what is best because it's a smartphone which made by dumb company

yep, not because the phone cann't support it, but because the format SDHC only has a max of 32GB
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital
further all micro sdhc cards should work fine as far as I know/
edit: just found out that there does exist a SDHC card class 1 of 64GB, but probably it's best to take a card of max 32GB
So I've tried Aurora ICS, and it partially works. It only mounts if the phone is booted without usb connected and will not remount if it is unmounted. I can play video off the card, and the storage is correctly reported.

The hardware shouldn't be. The desire z uses the same SOC and it supports it.

How did you format your card, FAT32 or NTFS ?
I did read on another forum that some persons had problems with mounting on there android device ( there cards were formatted FAT32 ) but after formating to NTFS it solved.
Else other people report that there SDXC works well on FAT32 , maybe you can try changing of what your current using and report what's your result?

Only Fat32!!
I am running Infinity alpha 3 and everything is running supper except that I keep getting the "SD card unexpectedly removed" message and can't do anything to fix it except reboot but then I get it again after a few minutes. The card is class 10 16gb freshly formated.
Any help is appreciated

The strange thing is that with another 16gb card the problems persist but when I put in the stock 8gb card that came whit the phone everything is working fine. All the ad cards are working fine whit other roms.
That's just feedback for everyone and team virtuous.

try reformatting the cards that aren't working, in FAT32 format. Don't choose quick format!
Let me know if that works for you.
Already did that with both the non working cards.
And also tried different cluster sizes.

Could you try this:
-try to format your card on a different pc. It is preferable to use a card reader.
Some ppl were having the same issue.
It turned out that to some of them the sd was damaged (it needed to be replaced), others tried to format the card using another card reader (full format) and it worked.
Also, if you could, try a different sd card (new one if possible) other than the one it came with. does it work?
"SD card unexpectedly removed" thats what i get on all ICS roms,it cant be cards error as it works fine on Ginger roms, tried format tried all things that i know

When you say all ICS ROMs does it include the stock ROM as well? Have you tried different SD Cards?
Have you tried your card on a different ICS phone?
I have tried other ics roms (sense 4.0а, AOSP) but never had this problem before.
Also all the cards works in recovery.

If your computer's OS is Windows, I suggest you use FAT32 because your computer can read it.
On the other hand, ext2/4 can not be read on windows without a special extbrowser.
Now even though the FAT32 wastes some space in your SD, it hasn't been a problem for many ppl.
Same error - on Sense-based ROMs only
I have the EXACT same issue of the SD card unmounting itself randomly. I tried 2 different SD cards (8 GB, 32 GB) BUT the problem ONLY happens with Sense-based ICS ROMs. Already did a CHKDSK via windows and found no errors.
MIUI 2.8.x works perfectly, no errors whatsoever over 1 week period. But on ROMs like BlackOut, Mabsa and Nik Project X, I get it every hour or so and have to do a restart. All other features of those ROMs work great otherwise, even the USB storage mounting via the PC works fine (until the error pops up).
Would appreciate any help!
