Cant update to the latest x10 update, had no issues running the '20' update but when the phone is plugged into pc and downloading and preparing the update its fine then halfway along the install before the phone itself actually does anything it comes up with the box of checks asking me to check battery [which is fully charged] and to try taking the battery out them rebooting phone holding the back key etc etc to connect the phone, although the phone was connected fine.
This is happening last 2 days with this update tries on my laptop / pc and works pc lol still not getting to the install of the firmware update on the phone. Any ideas? phone is stock no rooting or hacking on it. Tried rebooting removing battery all that stuff. Was only a week ago I got R2BA020 as my original phone was replaced under warranty after the mini usb port broke.
Have you tried downloading the Sony Ericsson Update Service Software? I couldn't update at all through PC Companion but no prob with SEUS.
Just going to try this hopefully it works
It has said its installed the 140meg update although the build number on the phone is still R2BA020 is this right?
Maybe the usb cable or port is not fixed well, you know going on and off.
sent from my x10i that is banging for a 2.1 upgrade. ...
that worked fine with sues dont notice any changes for a 140mb update though lol and like i say its still build number R2BA020 ?? although checking for updates it says the phone is up to date assuming this is right
I updated late last week to 026 from 023 but to be fair I can't tell any difference. The leap seemed to be from 016 to 020 so you probably have all the goodies.
Maybe its something to do with whatever carrier you are with cos I think I gained a Tmobile 'Top Apps' thing on my menu which is quite frankly a waste of space. The market gives you its top apps anyway.
I will just check every now and then on SEUS to see if I can update again. Waiting for the big one now... 2.1 OS.
I have just done the registry hack and got JPM through kies without a glitch.
It took me literally 2 minutes to do the registry and then just let kies download and install the update through the normal method.
I have not lost any apps / data.
My connection over 3g and sms and wifi is working fine.
All google accounts are intact.
I updated from JM1 to JPM.
If any UK users are having any worries about doing this i can tell you that it ran perfectly for me.
I would recommend the method but dont blame me if something did go wrong lol. Do so at your own discretion.
Did it change your product code?
Did the same as you 2 hours ago and it running like a dream!
I'm really tempted to give this a shot but after reading about a possible brick form another UK user, I think I'll wait until Samsung UK officially rolls out the update.

how I've searched the forums but can only find the registry hack for the i9000m
us UK galaxy is named as just i9000 right?
and what difference are there between JPM to JPA to JP6? They all run froyo don't they?
Can someone please upload some MP4 HD video so we can see how it looks now and is it close to the iPhone 4 quality ?
Tnx

Sorry im new around here, what you mean by normal method ?
Just tried it, a bit nerve wracking during that looooooong (well, it seemed long) reboot but its brilliant now. GPS a lot better, flash playing, the pinch to see all 7 home screens etc. Very happy!
FYI I am on an unbranded SGS with a vodafone contract (bought through phones for you).
PS the RAM monitor in the samsung task manager only shows 304 meg of RAM. I remember reading somewhere that FROYO uses all 512 meg, is the difference because of chunks reserved by the OS for stuff?
After an incredibly long boot, I have successfully updated my JM1 unbranded phone using this method
Nothing at all was wiped and the market etc. worked perfectly without me doing anything - the entire process went very smoothly.

By normal method i mean after you have changed the kies registry you just go back into kies and click on pgrade firmware and install 2.2 as you would with any firmware through kies.
Glad its worked for the rest of you guys too.
It is a little bit nerve racking lol but its worth it and as long as you do everything correctly you should have no problem at all.
The people that HAVE had trouble are mostly people that have forgotten to take the lagfix off their phones before starting the update... Even if it was the UK version and they went for the upgrade without taking off the lagfix it would still cause problems to the phone.
Vow, I thought hd video quality cant be better than this, for a phone..

Does anyone have a change log for the update anywhere??
I DESPERATELY need this update to fix my alarm clock but if it doesn't the phone is going back as I'm sick of being late for things due to having no morning alarm! (The clock on my SGS stops updating when the gphone goes to sleep hence I get no morning alarm!)
all worked too easily for me

I did the registry trick and updated but I've lost the market! How can I get this back?
Hay all. So, I got up this morning and like I do every morning and plugged my phone into my PC to see if there is any upgrades available yet. Usually everything goes smooth without a hitch. This morning, when I tried, Kies connects to phone no problem, but yet when i check for firmware upgrades, the firmware upgrade window pops up, and is completely blank for 5 or 10 seconds (sometimes more, sometimes its instantaneous ) then a messages comes up saying 'no response from server, check your internet connection and try again". I kept trying and trying, and then FINALLY after an hour or so, it said "this devices version cannot be updated." WTF?!?!
I am running the latest version of Kies 10103.100 and usually it just says there is no updates available at this time or whatever it says..
Any ideas?? Maybe Froyo is being uploaded?!?! Anybody else suddenly have the same problem?
I'm in Canada, and completely 100% stock. JH2 2.1
EDIT: okay, I just tried again, and now I'm back to the Latest version already installed on this device... Crap.. I was hoping it was a good sign that Froyo was on it's way like someone said in another thread that claimed he worked for Bell and the update would be rolled out on the 15TH. Suppose, the day isn't over yet..
yeah i just got the cannot connect to server message as well earlier. I was hoping they are taking down the server so they can roll out the 2.2 but i guess i was wrong. lol oh well, still hoping it'll come later today.

The phone had to be rooted for it to work, and my phone is not rooted. I chose not to until I'm completely satisfied with the unit as I have had it replaced 3 times now due to defects... Thanks for your input tho. After 30 days goes by and all is still working good, and I'm more familiar with the Android OS, I'll be playing...

Root is only needed to auto-discover the codes, if not rooted the presets can be used. Just pm me the desired codes and I will add it to the presets.

Presets? I see no option to choose a preset value.
EDIT: Nevermind.. I got it.. Soon as you type in a couple characters the list pops up.. Just trying to figure out what goes in the second line now.
my PC is GT-I9000HKABMC
Just got notification.
BMC JL2 avail via Kies. FYI
But that is kinda old news.
I9000M darkyV10.rc5.3 darkcore2.1 UGKC1 BMC
Seems unlikely to be JL2 since KC1 has been out for a while.
I think that was just a not updated web page you saw...
I got the same SMS from Bell. But I'm already in JVB.
My bad.. KC1 confirmed.
I9000M darkyV10.rc5.3 darkcore2.1 UGKC1 BMC
same message came across my phone , wonder what improvements are there ?
Yep, It's just KC1. Jeez, Bell is some slack notifying people whaaaa.... Doesn't surprise me tho that's for sure.

If you got the Update a couple months back, there is nothing new. Bell is just slack as hell notifying their customers that their is an update is all.
I re-installed Kies to see what that text was all about. And after installing was notified that I didn't download the latest version... right... ok, update, and...
Yeah, no new firmware.
By the way, I know GPS issues are all over the place, but anyone here go from working great with the last firmware to hardly usable with KC1?
bull$hit waste of time message from Bell, wasted time getting Kies updated to find out its nothing... damn.

It all depends on when you got the phone. I think it was oct 2010 where Samsung updated the gps inside the SGS to a properly functioning one. My gps is fine on KC1.
Hi everyone,
my xperia arc lt15a has a problem since a week or so. I'm very concerned.
Everytime i shut the screen off, when i go to turn it back on, i see for a millisecond that on the top says emergency only, meaning that when the screen is off loses signal. Once i turn the screen on it gets the signal again. At the beginning it happened when i had it for long time in my pockets, but now its getting serious. It has US generic firm 4.0.2.A.0.42
Me too!.... Maybe its a firmware issue???
and if i go into About>battery use> graph.. it is mostly RED meaning NO SIGNAL over 60%
There is this problem going on with -56 baseband (which is present in the .283 and .42 firmware). Hopefully SE fix it fast...really fast.
oh thank god its not a hardware problem...anyway its very serious: this means that all the times the phone is on standby we loose messages and phone calls since it doesnt get signal!

Yep, it's a serious problem. Not only the one you mentioned, it is also leading to battery drain and the purpose of this device as a mobile phone is being defeated.
i can't belive sony ericsson is not taking care of it. i'm going to send an email to the support.
i have the same issue in miui rom
hey guys please tell me its not a hardware too, when I was on .368 with locked bootloader, it was normal, but after unlocking bootloader, and testing many roms, all roms, my wifi connect, but after few minutes, even it is connected, the internet become inexistent, everything that needs internet does not work, market says No connection, browser does not open pages, msn does not connect and so on. If I put wifi off, and on again, everything goes normal, but few minutes, like 5 or 10, it happens again, stay connect but no internet... some help please? Thnx anyway

This is serious but I must say I have not noticed this as a common problem.
Have you guys tried to reinstall/repair the phone software via either SEUS or PC Companion? If not please do and check if the problem remains.
If it does check if another SIM card makes any difference.
Keep me updated.
Its a sotfware problem , i haver .42 , in spain , and i`m having the same problem since .42 .
Wow, never would've noticed this if I hadn't come here. I have the same problem, LT15a with .42 in USA
Did anyone of you not have this problem before updating to .42? Has anything you've tried since you installed .42 helped (e.g. new sim card, sw repair etc.)?
We are rolling out the .58 software on some markets as I write this. Other markets will follow.
(I don't know which ones that have received it already or when it will come to a certain market.)
As soon as someone here with this problem gets this update, please let me know if this solved the problem or not.
If this is a bug in the .42 it will hopefully be fixed in this software.

I was using Singapore .145 firmware and didn't have any issues with reception, but since the day I upgraded to .42 the reception issue is there. Nothing could get rid of this issue and I noticed that it started with .283 itself.
Currently I'm using older baseband (-36 from .368 firmware) with the new firmware .42 and it's fantastic and stable without that buggy reception problem.
Note: Honestly I don't know whether you are really from SEAnswers, but I'm replying in a hope to get this fixed .
I know many arc in spain with the same problem .... so ...
Same reception problem
I have the same reception problem in Morocco since last update, sometimes i need to disable WCDMA in network options to solve the issue
yeah, i had one night this issue, 70% of battery drained to 5-6% wlan on, sync on. i think 7-8 hours.
and this day, 40 mins internet on with sync, mp3 1 hr headphone.
and batt. temperature 40°C and phone was hot.
10 min display on. and i havent run any app except fb and browser.
Try .368
I had this on both .42 and .58. Reception was terrible.
Have "down-graded" to .368 and I have perfect reception everywhere.
Whereas before I'd stopped using my phone for anything that required Data. Now am bock on Facebook and Twitter with avengance!
Its like a new phone.
Hope this helps others...
I have made a small patch for properly using baseband -36 in other firmwares.
Check it out.
