As you know, 3.1 added resizable widgets. For the g-mail widget, this was rather pointless, because if you extend the widget the length of the screen, it just shows the same number of e-mails with a "View more conversations" button which just launches the g-mail app (same as the app icon).
Whats the point of having a resizable widget if you can't fill it up? Am I missing a setting or something?
I have my widget stretched out and it populates the thing just fine... do you keep your inbox empty?
No. If anything, I don't clear out my inbox enough. I've tried removing the widget and reloading and it still does it.
It will fully populate after I open up g-mail, but if the screen goes off and I turn it back on it will be back to 3 messages only.

This problem really frustrates me. Is there any known workaround?

Has anyone gotten this Widget to work? I can add it to my screen but when I try to configure it it just crashes.
yes, the way i did it was by setting up the Mail app first then putting the widget on the screen... make sure you hit refresh
My Droid isn't receiving my Gmail emails, I have to manually sync my phone to get my emails. Anyone having this problem? I have my phone rooted.
Do you have set to only sync when on wifi?

There's an android widget called ' power control'. Make sure the little circle icon with the circular arrows is on. Somehow I had mine turned off and it caused this same problem.

i had this same problem. Found this solution.
Try this: gmail>hard settings button>accounts>hard settings button>account settings>be sure auto-sync is enabled
I am having the same issue and I am not understanding you instructions as far as where to go to try and solve the issue.
Same issue here. I get my other emails, just not gmail. I have to manually push them through with a refresh. Not cool.

Menu/settings/accounts/gmail/
Check the sync Gmail box and/or
Contacts and Calendar if you want these sync'd as well..
Another easy way to enable auto sync is to put a power control widget on 1 of your home screens and make sure the circle with 2 arrows is enabled.
Hold on empty space -> Android Widgets -> Power Control to get the widget on screen
Nice solution @Ryphez Love it!
I think it proven that the auto-sync with gmail is a battery killer, but I can't seem to update my calendar and contact with google unless I turn auto-sync on. bummer..
Can anyone help?
Have you treid to.... simply... update it manually?
if there is even such a button in the calender app to let you do that.. stupid huh? Or unless I am blind.
There is a refresh button at least in gmail.. but where is the button to manually refresh in the calendar app?
Or I just have to go into Setting>Account & Sync>Gmail>Sync Calender. All the time? That just really annoying and unproductive...
You could always create a shortcut for this screen in settings. Newest android has an option for that. This way it will be just 2 clicks to udpate manually.
Check out an application called Synker from Market. It is one-click-sync-all without enabling autosync.

So when i use new stock browser with navigation controls and go to bookmarks, everything is empty. But when i try to rebuild bookmarks I get a message that says bookmark already in use.
Anyone else getting this?

Not sure if this is exactly the same but on my homescreen I had the bookmarks widget whose outline was visible but the bookmarks themselves were invisible. I had to go into my browser "Settings">"General">"Sync" and apply sync with google chrome account for my bookmarks to reappear.

Yes, I have the same issue. Creating a new bookmark in a folder (bookmarks/test) works, but creating bookmarks in the root (bookmarks/) directory does not work. But if I try to recreate the bookmark, it says it's already there! I also see (doubled) bookmarks on my Chrome on the PC, so sync works...help appreciated!
TW is a bit strange, if you restore or sync bookmarks they end up in "history"
So to restore bookmarks;
Restore
Go to bookmarks/history.
Press the "stars" 2 times and the bookmarks shows up.
Wipe the history to get rid of the double bookmarks.
I had the same issue with bookmarks before this rom for GT10.1"
Here is how I solved it.
1) made a TB of your bookmarks before you flash the new rom...(hope it's not too late for some of you)
2) ensure the bookmarks widget is not on some screen (check to make sure its not hidden somewhere - strangely, I have found this phenomena with widgets on GT10.1" - dunno why)
3) flash your rom, after rebooting, ensure the bookmarks widget is not running/loaded/hidden somewhere.
4) restore your TB bookmarks - it will replace what is there/missing/ 'appear to be there'
Hope this helps. Works for me everytime(but sometimes between android release changes, it can be tricky. Then I combine my restore effort with 'my backup pro' and running the two apps restores in different sequenses, get the trick done.

I tried it, but it didn't work. But now, after cleaning the history I'm able to manually create bookmarks in the bookmarks/ root directory (which I wasn't before). But now they don't sync to my PC / Chrome anymore. However, I get very frequent FC on com.google.process.gapps. According to the stacktrace in the failure report this has something to do with the chrome bookmarks sync. So no surprise the sync doesn't work anymore. Anyone else having sync and/or bookmarks trouble?
Edit: I cleared the browsers chace, history and cookies and reset it to default (settings - advanced - reset defaults). After this, creating bookmarks works fine (with touching the star) as it should, but I still get the FC on Google Chrome sync...working on it..
Go to app management and clear the browser's cache, force stop it, clear all defaults...pretty much wipe the app clean. Then start the browser and go into settings and make it sync bookmarks with chrome. They eventually show up...whenever it decides to sync.

I have lots of bookmarks in Chrome and have been trying for 2 days to get them to sync. I just picked up my tablet and they all there now with all the different folders. I haven't done anything in the last 7 hours so I guess Google fixed something or it just takes forever.
Hi All,
Got my Nexus 7 in Dublin Airport T2 Dixons yesterday with no queues, fuss or drama, no pre orders to worry about, just walked up and paid... love it so far however one little issue i have.
Adding the Gmail widget is fine. Inbox emails show all is good in the world. If I put it to sleep and then open after a few mins the emails in the widget do not show... just blank!!!!! any ideas. The gmail account is fine and all emails in here but the widget just seems faulty.
Thanks
Darren
I use that widget with no problems at all,are you using the stock launcher?

Just tried it on mine and when adding the widget, it prompts which label (or folder, e.g. Inbox, sent, etc.). I picked Inbox and like yourself nothing showed up although I have 3 read emails in my Inbox. So I flagged one as unread again and removed and re-added the widget and hey presto all 3 emails show. Now when I actually read the email the 3 emails still show, all greyed out as read. Looks like a little bug in the code to me ?
Same issue on new Nexus 7

I don't have this issue under 4.1.2 on my Galaxy Note 2 but I can reproduce it under CyanogenMod 4.2.2 on a Galaxy Nexus and on my brand new 2nd Gen Nexus 7. When I add the widget it works fine. Go to sleep and it turns blank.
I've got the same issue in motorola RAZR M and samsung S4. The problem is that for some reason the gmail force closes in the background (i see a error) and then the widget goes blank. I use apex launcher and no task killer apart from swiping away the apps using default app switcher.
