hello
i have idea for great idea !
if u jailbreak iPhone u will get cydia
if u root android u will get superuser
why android dosen't have app like cydia ?? cydia is awsome
on android if any developer have idea just he added on his rom..if we have app like cydia the developer will put his idea on android cydia
u can slide any notification to remove it on CM7 (if we have cydia this advantage will be in android cydia)
there are many script and tweeks in this formus and other forums..Hopes to see the script and tweeks in one application
What?
Cydia isn't an app as such, it's essentially an alternate marketplace for apps that Apple wouldn't allow on their store, and quite a few pirated ones too.
Google already has several alternate marketplaces, and you DON'T even have to root your device to use them, so really, what the hell are you on about?

You know why it cydia works like that? Because it only has to support ONE handset. Android however, have MANY handsets in different configuration (touchscreen, hardware keyboard, etc.), different processors, different GPU, different display hardware, different resolutions and a lot more different from handset to handset. One program that works in one handset does not mean it will work in another. One rooting program in Android does not work on all handsets running android. Your request is impossible at best.
Cydia is a repository of apps that aren't permitted for AppStore. Market isn't so restrictive, so there is no need for "underground" Market.
cydia not for pirated apps !! installous for pirated apps
can add many advantages from cydia for your phone

just like the android market... there is a fundamental difference in the two platforms that makes the idea of cydia not needed on android. most of the apps that you can only find on cydia are just available in the android market.

i mean Android OS should be have store like cydia
we can download from him tweeks and other things
on iOS 4 u can't make folder and on this folder 3 folders (with cydia u can)

The reason there isnt a "Cydia" for Android is because android is an open system, if you wanted an App or Tweak you can Download the APK's and ZIP's freely online through the phone whereas iOS is closed and very restrictive, also bearing in mind the Amount of Android Versions and handsets in use today (loads!) compared with iOS. its not Feasable as there will be major compatability issues

Wow. The more you say the more i feel this is a joke. Some ios android trolling.
I think you are confusing what cydia does with what jailbreaking does. Cydia is just an alternative app store for stuff that would never get into the apple app store because of their strict guidelines. It is made possible by the jailbreaking of the device.
If that is what you want there are many alternative app stores for android. And you won't even need root.

You can do these things without any "Cydia for Android" - Android supports them natively. Same for most of other tweaks for iOS.
i know android have tweeks ! but not like iOS
guys..understand me
u can't download pictures from Facebook for iOS (there r tool from cydia make u download the pictures from the same app)
iOS have tweeks on one store [cydia] and u can download him from the same device
xda forums, droid forums and other forums have scripts, tweeks, other things..we need all than on one place one store

Please understand:
This would be impossible due to the oh say 200 android devices compared to the say 6 of iOS. To make it even harder there are multiple android versions and each version has multiple sub versions (CM, or Sense, or TouchWiz, etc)
Basically what I am hearing from you is "I am lazy and want to have everything in one app that would be so huge that it would be even slower the Cydia"
Go open Cydia and see how it takes a while to load?
Everything you can do on cydia with a jailbrken iphone you can do on a rooted android device but 10x better and 10x as much stuff. enough said.
From someone who has an iphone and android devices
Edit: I mean seriously? it wouldnt be feasible "LIKE EVERYONE ELSE SAID" cydia works and can host tweaks because its one set of software and even cydia is starting to get limitations (some apps dont work on ipad or ios5 b2 isnt supported or you need ios4 etc) Just think how this would be with 200 plus devices?? and every tweak your naming..downloading pics from facebook for example you can ALREADY do without a rooted phone just go to facebook from the web browser...and thats another tweak downloading things from the browser android has it without any superuser privleges!
Think about this there is no want or need for something like this in the android community.
Edit again: BTW its "Tweaks" not "tweeks" sorry a little irritating lol
There's just too many devices and too much stuff to be able to accomplish this on Android.

The Windows Mobile platform is light years behind the iPhone for the application market. Yeh, there's loads around that do some things, but in terms of the micro-applications model that Apple has, WinMo is just nowhere near.
It won't be like that forever, but MSFT is playing catchup. Personally I think the release of WinMo 7 will be the big change that swings a bit of momentum. I still think MSFT need to release a dev environment better than the native (C++) and make it free.
I'm sure there are many more folk on here more qualified to talk such things than I am.

Why do you even use the Marketplace? There are tens of thousands of applications for Windows Mobile available! Windows Mobile isn't that far behind at all.
The appliacations just aren't in the Marketplace, but that's huge advantage over the iPhone: With Windows Mobile, you don't have to rely on a company to allow applications, developers can distribute their applications through whatever channel they want.
Don't bother buying anything from the Marketplace.
Instead, have a look at this forum, handango.com, mobihand.com, freewareppc.com and (for games) gameloft.com.
The best Windows Mobile application repository is unfortunately not legal, so I can't mention it, but the sites I mentioned already give you a glance at what is available for Windows Mobile.

How many apps do you think were available for the Iphone when it had just been released ?? Probably not much either. So, how can you expect that there's thousands of apps in the Windows store, when it's only just 'open for business'?
As already stated before, there's lot's of places where Windows Mobile Apps are available, many for free!
So stop complaining about the amount of apps in the Windows Store, and try searching the Web.....I hear Google is pretty good doing that for you.
can you pm the link??
i dont know about u but personally i LMAO everytime i see an iphone ad which is actually advertising the tons of apps that 3rd party devs have actually made for them rather than advertising their product....
their moto.. "an app for everything.." lol WM had an app for everything way before apple even developed iphone!
i even had an app for everything in my old Symbian S60 phone

Hi
Thanks for the reply. I don't use the marketplace as my main source of apps, and I've had an on off relationship with WinMo for quite some time and have used handango extensively in the past.
One of my biggest gripes over the App Store from Apple was its monopoly over what could be or not be in there. MSFT's model appears a little different as they appear to be more concerned about compliance rather than commercial conflicts - which is good.
But honestly, if you want WinMo to compete in the iPhone and Droid space, which I'm sure MSFT want, then their needs to be a marketplace for micro applications that cost reasonable amounts. And the apps need to be slick looking and not your usual .Net CF form bores.
I believe it will come, but it'll take some time.

The task you ask is a great one, neigh on impossible to do on current phone hardware. The games would run terribly, the OS wouldn’t be properly loaded. And the coding to do so would be great. Oh, and it would be highly illegal

Not so sure about this though. Emulating another platform's app on a secondary platform has been done before and sure isn't illegal. For instance, the StyleTap PalmOS emulator which is out for WinMo and iPhone OS and it sure is legal. Only problem is that with android emulating iPhone apps/games. Apple will be the one that is going to kick up a fuss about it.

If it was ever to be developed it would be something similar to Wine on Linux which has been going for years successfully, so not illegal but apple would kick up a fuss.
Another simple way, get those dev of iPhone games to come over to Android ASAP. Those dev need to know that Android is on the rise against iPhone, just like China rising against the USA.
Is anyone else concerned about the fact that Google found 50 apps with a Trojan virus?
I’m starting to wonder if I made a good move from the iPhone. It looks to me like the Android OS is quickly becoming the Windows of the mobile market.
Nope, no concern here unless you download any of those "SEXY" apps.
So they are not in the general apps/games? How do you know?
Bit of common sense helps, noticed one developer which put me off when looking at battery save apps, had the same app listed about 12 times all with different icons, I wonder why he wanted his app used
lots of different anti virus apps if you are worried about it.
Coming from iPhone I had a look at LookOut as the pro version is like everything I had from Apple - remote wipe, find phone etc etc.
Several other big name there as well like Norton, AGV, Kaspersky etc.
I have very little space and don't want to be bothered with virus apps and updates. I don't even use them on my PC. On the PC I just don't visit poker or porn sites. On the phone I only have the market option for my games so it should be trust worthy. I get what you mean about common sense but if a hacker wanted to they could simply make a cool free app for something as simple as camera enhancements and put a virus in it. Lots of people download free apps.
And that's where common sense makes its entrance. Unlike Windows, any malicious code ran in Android needs your consent to run.

I'm pretty sure they said it was a download Trojan.
This is old news...Google already took em out and the market is safe and I think they already upgraded security? this is just assumption.
They can remove one and ten more replace it. It is a cat and mouse game really.

2-CyanogenMod Market
ok i think this is so great idea for CyanogenMod..CyanogenMod should have a special market like Cydia on iPhone..there r may Scripts , tweeks and others add-ons..so all that should go in CyanogenMod Market
that's will break iPhone and most of android users will come to CyanogenMod
ـــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ
you guys don't realize how much work development like this is. iphone and its mobilesubstrate framework (and the mods which can be built on said framework) are completely different than what is available to our devices. it would take a crazy amount of work to make something similar to what they have.
and with cyanogen, again you don't realize the amount of work put into it. why make their own launcher when there is nothing wrong with adw and anybody can and will install their favorite launcher? it would be a waste of time. the market would also be more work than it is worth, the idea of cyanogen is to have a modded and tweaked aosp type rom. if there are available tweaks they will already be in cm, not some market. and the way most of the tweaks work it would be near impossible to make it so people could download and install them without screwing up the whole phone.

Samsung Touchwiz has a move2unlock thing. Use the mobile Facebook site to save pictures. ADW Notifier https://market.android.com/details?id=org.adw.launcher.notifications&hl=en . Folders in folders is only needed because iOS limits the number of Apps you can have in a folder, Android doesn't. Does your Android phone have a retina display?
How cares about cydia I wouldn't want something like that on android or any roms like cyanogen roms cause it is basically an app for free paid apps and different types of tweeks you can do to your device.

you truly are insane. lets say there was a magical app called cydia for android. it still wouldnt make it possible to do the things you want. someone would still have to make the things you are talking about. and once they complete these programs why would they put them in cydia? the android market reaches way more people than some non existent 'special' market. so then the question is why use the cydia market? use the real market.

I was in the iphone development scene for about 4 years before android. the major reason Cydia exists is because of apple's stranglehold on the app store. they have very strict guidelines on what goes through. you will never see a replacement lockscreen or notification system or music app or anything that might modify any part of the system to make your phone customized more than a wallpaper.
Cydia is the place that developers who want to do more than just make a fart soundboard or a game and that is why it thrives, because it is the only way to get and distribute the apps and themes you can get through it. On android, developers put all their great tweaks inside their custom roms, and the market has way more freedom. There is no need for anything like Cydia.
In response to one of your comments... if you used Cydia you would see why people pick android over iphone.
(from the standpoint of somebody experienced in that community, Cydia has actually gone downhill recently, at least before I moved to android. most of what you find is a bunch of terrible and crappy themes, you spend way more time trying to find things worth downloading than you should have to.)

Well said! Cydia is not really a magical stuff or things. It's more like a repository of things where you can find themes/hacks for your phone. Way before Apple introduced Folders, Cydia already had folders and users are able to customise the icons of folders. Apple like the idea and incorporated it into their IOS.
Camera+ had the idea of using iPhone's volume button to take picture (instead of the usual onscreen-click-capture). Apple was mad at the idea and had Camera+ taken off the AppStore for about 3 months before Camera+ developer took away the feature of using volume-button to take picture. But again, with the upcoming IOS 5, Apple is going to introduce the ability to take pictures with the volume-button (apart from onscreen-click).
Cydia was at the forefront of Apple's IOS. The tweaks and hacks were easier to manage/code/tweak as there's only 1 physical product, the iPhone or the iPad; whereas in the Android market, the base code is shared out by Google but different OEM will try to brand their hardware/solutions.
My 2 cents.
Cheers!
I've used Cydia. I have an iPod Touch 2G. I found it terrible. Takes ages to update itself on my 30MB connection, it was buggy as hell, half the stuff didn't work.
If you really want Cydia and its "magical tweaks" that make everything brilliant like
Changing lockscreens (woo!)
Themes (woow!)
Wallpapers in the form of naked women (WOOPWOOP!)
Soundboards that don't work (wee!)

then get an iPhone and use a forum like iFans or iPD.
Sure, there are some good things in Cydia. Name me something there that we don't have in Android (CM7, Sense, MIUI, etc) I can only think of... erm.. nothing.

with cydia we can do anything for iphone launcher..
we need one launcher for android users and this launcher should have add-ons and more like iphone launcher
if we have cydia tweeks will be android more than amazin

Have you even read the last posts?! Cydia is just an APP STORE! It is NOT magic!
And there's a lot of tweaks, just SEARCH!

1. you are completely wrong. the iphone doesn't even have a launcher. it has a springboard which is hooked into by mobilesubstrate through root access gained by jailbreaking and modifying the boot kernels and other stuff that even I don't understand. Cydia allows you to download some cool tweaks that android doesn't need because it has the functionality on its own.
2. it's spelled tweaks, dammit. tweaks, not tweeks. tweaks.

So, As the title suggest I am coming from an iPhone 7 plus.
I still have both devices and with OnePlus offering a no quibble 15 day return policy - I thought , hey why not. It's been a little while since I've had an android..lets see how it goes.
I used to be a massive android fan. This all changed when apple started making iPhones with larger displays ! this was initially why I loved android ( Note 2 ).
Now I'm faced with a dilemma. - Has any one else done this move ? from iOS - Android for the OP5 ? How are you finding it/found it?
I really miss tinkering with android phones, It's a lot of fun reading, learning new things constantly - being able to change around the software as you see fit ; however this comes with a lot of consequence nowadays
so I have 12(ish) days for my return window .
Already im starting to miss iMessage - this really annoys me that android has nothing to combat this, if ONLY apple would release an app to work with it on android phones :/ .....l can dream I suppose.
I much prefer the look and feel of the Op5, I have the sandstone case and th 3d Glass protector and the device looks the part !
I'm just hoping to find someone else who is in this situation ?
IF not - what makes you guys stay with android over apple ?
IF not - what makes you guys stay with android over apple ?
-> Root
-> AdAway (hosts Adblocker)
-> Titanium Backup (save/restore your Apps with or without your data)
-> Install all apps/games/modded from others store
-> Install all apps/games/modded without Root (on iOS you must be Jailbreak for install Apps/Games out of AppStore)
-> Install Custom Recovery/Roms (Lineage, RR, AOSP, etc...)
-> Change Theme on the fly! (Substratum)
-> Custom your rom yourself (you can debloat/remove services/apps from your rom)
... etc!
There is really no replacement to iMessage. I use Allo and WhatsApp as a replacement.
Android customization for me over iOS.
TBH, only the Pixel is as smooth as iPhone. I'm hoping OP5 will be as smooth. We will see. I won't get my phone until Monday. ?

Which now doesnt allow you to use Android pay, Banking apps, Netflix ect .....(pain in the ass)

The benefit of unlimited data <3

Call me old fasioned but i prefer to support the devs in any means with apps - not official source most likely means they dont get paid and will in turn prevent updates or making another app/game

I'm not trying to say im right , but simply giving my rationale behind it all But you have a good set of reasons as to why staying on android suits you best
According to me
If we have apple, we can just show off.
But If we android, we can show the things off by modifying and customizing it. ?
iMessage isn't very popular in Holland. I noticed it's very popular in Canada. Here everyone just uses WhatsApp which would be the most logical step imho.
The rest is as above. No need for iTunes. Android recovery is so far superior to any phone. Freedom of choice of phone, vendor and specs. This is very limited with IOS devices.
Currently superior screen quality though this might change with iPhone 8.
Drag and drop files from pc. No need for stupid file import or file coversion tools like iTunes.
Open edit download modify any file on android. Zip rar any APK This is a far cry from IOS. Hence I made the move in 2009/2010.

AH man, Lucky you. Most of my friends/colleagues use iMessage! After I started to use the Oneplus5 within an hour someone had said Why are you not using iMessage ?! have you changed phones lol.
But yes, the rest of you points I do feel are the advantages of android.

That really sucks. I've never liked platform depending messaging. iMessage is a nice idea but incompatible with other platforms. That is one reason I tend to stay away from it. Anyway.. best of luck
