Just bought a rooted HD2 - HD2 General

I just bought a new T-mobile HD2 and just found out it is rooted with ultimate droid 2.5.0 umm says model number is HTC brovo...android version 2.2.1....thats all i can seem to get a hold of. But I have rom manager (free) installed, super user installed nothing in it...What can i do with this phone?? do i need to update anything??

Well I think you have the ROM from this thread so yes you have the most up to date version of your ROM. But you updating is up to you and your wants and needs. There are so many ROMs out there to choose from. You just have to check them out to see if you like them better. Ohcand don't forget the MIUI ROMS.
Hope this helps some.

That pic in the link is what shoews up while its booting so if i want a different rom what would you suggest? also any help on a video or post you can point me too to show me how to change roms quick since my phone is rooted already?

Come on you may be new here but at least put some effort into searching
Try here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=928
There are a bag full most of them very good.
Its a matter (as T-m said) of choosing one you like the look of and give it a go, I like the rom in my sig, but hay have a good look around

Sorry for the late response buit to change Andriod ROMs quickly all you have to do is use Clockwork Mod Recovery. Check out the guide in my sig to learn how to use Clockwork Mod Recovery and also look for the link at the top of the guide to the HD2 NAND Toolkit. This toolkit is a all in one tool to flash anything that can be flashed to NAND on the HD2. Makes flashing the HD2 easy as pie in my opinion.

Since you seem like the only one helping me i also have another issue the globe on the main screen you press to get to internet is gone and when i click the blank space it says no application. It was working fine but now the only way to use the internet is when i downloaded firefox and can access the internet threw there. Although i rather use my old one before it went missing...Any advise on what i should do to get it back?

Ok first do you have the globe icon in your app tray? If so you need to long prrss the icon so you can move it to your home screen then long press it again to drag it to the open spot on your launcher.
If that does not work for some odd reason or is not a option for you. Then you might want to look and see if you have a NANDroid back up of your ROM made with Clockwork Mod Recovery. To do this you need a file manager such as Astro File Manager. Then go to sdcard/clockworkmod/backup and see if a backup exists in that folder. if so you can use Clockwork Mod Recovery to do a restore with that backup. How you get to Clockwork Mod Recovery depends on if you use MAGLDR or cLK for your Android bootloader. So you might want to say which one you are using. Or just check out my sig you will find both methods in the guide link. Anyway after you do a restore you shouild have the problem fixed. But be warned, the backup will revert any app version if it has older app versions backup.

Also i noticed on my htc hd2 when i bought it under Model number is Htc bravo? is that normal?

It says Bravo cause that is probably the device the ROM came from. It probably started out as a ROM dump from a bravo.

No. icon was not in app tray ..Also no i did not have a back up clockwork in my sd .. So where do i go from here? I can access clockwork threw rom manager but no older version available

Ok I suggest you do a reset of your ROM thos requires Clockwork Mod Recovery. It depends on if you use MAGLDR or cLK as to hpw you have to boot into CWM.
To get to CWM with MAGLDR you hold the end key down while booting your HD2 to get to the MAGLDR main menu. Select either option #2 AD SD or option #8 AD recovery. One of the two should boot you into CWM if you are using MAGLDR.
To boot into CWM if you are using cLK you need to hold down thechome key while you boot your HD2.
Next you select "wipe data/factory reset and then select yes and it will reset the ROM just like it was when first installed.
If this does not work go to the thread I linked for you in post #2 and download the ROM. I looked and the ROM developer says nothing about having two versions of the ROM. Then copy the zip file you download to your SD card. Then you want to boot your HD2 into Clockwork Mod Recovery.
So after you are booted into CWM you need to select "install zip from sd". Then you select "choose zip from sd". Then you just find the zip file on your sd card and select it the select yes and it will flash your ROM. Now be warned this will be just like a hard rest of your ROM. You will lose anything not backed up on your computer or SD card.
You can though make a backup of your current ROM though seeing as it is the same ROM I told you to download. You can then use the advance restore and only restore your data and cache, this should atleast put the globe icon back in your app tray and you can then move it as I said in my last post.
Sorry for the long post jist wanted to cover as much as posible in one post.

when i choose #2 it says "SD kernel option failed" and #8 says "No boot sources"

SD Kernel failed means you either do not have the two necassary files, initrd.gz and zImage, to boot CWM from your SD card. Or that something is wrongcwithcCWM and you need to delete and re copy good files to your SD card to be able to boot CWM from your SD card.
No boot source means you so not have CWM flashed to NAND of your HD2. Or maybe something is wrongcwith your CWM in NAND. But I am leanong more towards no Cwm flashed to NAND. Which is weird cause Ultimate Droid does not have a DAF file with it Idon't think. To flash CWM to your NAND I recomend you use the HD2 NAND Toolkit
Either way it goes it means you do not have a working CWM on your HD2. My advice, you need CWM,
Let me know if you have any trouble flashing CWM. Later...........
.

Ok so MAGLDR is CWM?
And even though i pwer up my phone and says a have MAGLDR 1.13 the latest version?

Also my red green blue and white screen it says SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE

Your bootloader is fine. (2.08 HSPL is what you want and have)
Flash CWM from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898913
use the 150 for smaller aosp roms such as CM7, use the bigger ones for like Sense 3.0 and such.
just flash it via the USB flasher in MAGLDR, then use the ad recovery option to enter CWM from magldr and flash the ROM from there.

also, off topic I know, but it's good to see a fellow houston HD2 owner hacking his phone

Are you in houston? maybe i can have you look at it because im a complete noob and i think i need to start from scratch as you can see because i got the phone like this

Need help reformatting my Hd2

So over the weekend I bought the Hd2 and tried installing android. Which I did, to a certain point. However I get no sound because haret is launched before CLRCAD.EXE.
The reason for this is I installed one of the boot loader where it automatically runs those two files boots Android automatically.
Before I use to reformat the SD card via computer and the phone through WinMo but now I dont have an option to boot in WinMo at all. How can I reformat my device since I can run WinMo.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance
Take the card out and put it into your computer then format.

I have done that, but it still boots the program and comes to a screen saying " Launch Android" or "File Explorer". I might have accidentally saved the program on the phone rather than the SD card.
It does not give me an option to boot in WinMo where I need to reformat my phone.
Is there any other way where I can reformat my phone?
try a hard reset
power off then back on while holding the volume button in (up and down)
follow on screen instructions.
try a task 29.search for it in the forums
I will try this later on and report back. Thanks for your help

I am not able to use the first link because I do have a Tmobile USA phone and the website stated its not recommended for that phone.
I will look into the second thread which I did not come across as of yet. Hopefully there might be something useful for me.
This is the information I get when I boot the screen
R: 2.12.50.02.2
G: 15.40.50.07u
D: D2 Energy
Then it takes me to the following screen after booting up

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614
How do you flash your bootloader though? Or does that do it automatically when flashing the device.
mate, enter bootloader (phone off, then phone on while holding VOLUME DOWN key) then connect your phone through USB to the PC and re-flash a new ROM via PC.
Make sure you have HSPL installed on the phone! If not try searching for HSPL2 and install it while in bootloader. Make sure you read the instructions.
It should be OK!

Hey guys,
I recently had issues with the HD2 I purchased from ebay. The seller said it was fine and it was, just a few little screen cracks and lag issues had to be mended.
So I did what most people do and took it to my local phone repair store.
Now, I sent it in and it was booting magldr and android RAFdroid 2.2 or something like that and everything was fine just lagging and shutting down when I ran large games or large apps ( main problem ) <-- the reason I wanted it fixed.
But now it came back into my possession and it wont boot at all it just comes up with the image posted below.
the only thing I have managed to boot onto it is the HTC default stock - RUU_Leo_Telstra_WWE_1.72.841.0 -
BUT
Even the - RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2 - Didn't work.
Is my phone screwed? where should I go from here?

you flashed telstra rom, but sure its a telstra model hd2? That screen is usually encountered when one tries to flash the wrong stock rom whilst hspl is installed.
Hey I also just tried installing the
and that failed but I got this message (read below), any ideas?
I'm going to continue trying to flash more stock roms until one works that isn't the telstra one.
Do you have any idea's on what I could do to maybe erase all the data on it and start again?
(I'm pretty sure task29 only does a specific part of data deletion)
well first off, IS it a telstra? It will say telstra on the actual phone if i'm not mistaken? (or perhaps not, cant remember)
Secondly, what does it say in bootloader? (all lines, please)
I had the same problem
Hi, I had the same problem yesterday but soon had it fixed!
First you have to make sure you've got the correct stock ROM, as samosamuel pointed out. You should just be able to go to your countries HTC site and find your ROM.
Download the ROM, rename it to .zip and extract the files. Find the file with the .nbh extension, copy it to the root of your micro-sd card. Boot your phone holding down power and volume down. It should now install fine.
Thank you all so much for your help.
After installing the correct stock rom I was able to re-install the HSPL and then Magldr Thank you.

well for a start there are no hd2s that would take both of those roms, , , they are for different versions. The wwe 3.14 is for unbranded (carrier unlocked) regular hd2s, the 1.72 one is for telstra branded hd2s, , so a phone that took one wouldn't take the other (well unless using hspl of course, but im just making the point that it isn't as simple as getting 'a' stock rom).
so, first job - enter bootloader (power off - voldown(keep holding this) - tap and release power)
in stripey screen, (bootloader) please write out all the lines (or take a picture)

you know cLK is not clockwork right? clockwork is shortened to cwm, cLK is a magldr alternative. Completely unrelated to cwm.
If you have wp7 on nand then no you cant put clockwork on.
@samsamuel
thanks for clearing things up
so the only way to put CWM is to start all over again?
You don't need to start all over. Check out this thread for help. If you already have some steps done/installed then move on to the next step.
Here's a youtube video to help out
..But will it still erase the WP7 in nand?
Installing a recovery shouldn't break nand anything whether Android or WP7 but since i'm on Android and
have little first hand knowledge you may want to wait for someone that has more experience with WP7.
I have nand Android and have installed CWM, MAGLDR and CLK several times over which didn't break nand. It may
have reset it to factory settings though, not sure now that i think about it. After all its 5am here and i'm running
on no sleep so maybe i'll come back to this thread once i've been able to get some rest. If you use the HD2
toolkit there is a set of precautions and warnings listed. It might be in those steps so you could always check
that out if you dont hear from someone else.
cool avatar by the way ?:^D
i repeat, you cant have cwm and wp7 on nand at the same time, so yes, flashing cwm will erase wp7, because there currently is no recovery partition in which to load cwm, so you would need to flash a new partition layout, which would remove wp7, and install cwm. If you then flash wp7 again, it will remove cwm again.
OK here's the deal I'll be trying out a new WP7 Rom (Tigers ROM) & since I will start all over again I'll try to install CWM first & see what happens
many thanks for your input guys & Hooray for our HD2!!!

Ok look guys Samsamuel has told you twice now. You can not have anything Android in the NAND of the HD2 if you are running a WP7 ROM. just as you can not have anything WP7 in the NAND if you ate running a NAND Android ROM.
When you flash a ROM to the NAND of of a device it cleans the NAND before flashing the ROM. The recovery partition gets wiped too just as if you flash a recovery it will clean the recovery partition before flashing the recovery. So if a recovery for a different OS is flashed it is going to clean the whole NAND as it will have to repartition the entire NAND first.
This is not to even mention the fact that the HD2 at the present time is not possible, well maybe if a new way of formatting memory space is discoverd. But it would be a small meracle if that became possible, still it is highly doubtful it will.
Edit: By the way what's up Sam, good to see you are still shinning a light on things here in the HD2 forums, message me on Google+ sometime look for Tony Roach. I personally learned a lot from Sam, he knows the HD2 very well.

He's not trying to install Android to nand, WP7 to nand and Android via SD. This says it in the first post. He's trying
to install Clockworkmod but wonders if he goes to do that if it will break nand WP7. Since i personally didn't really like
WP7 and only had it a few short weeks i suggested him to wait for someone more knowledgable.
So the questions are:
(1.) why does he want to install Clockworkmod if running SD version of Android?
(2.) if he tries will it break nand WP7 with Android on SD?
1st answer: Not really sure why he wants to and he hasn't said why
2nd answer: He can not install Clockworkmod with nand WP7

Yes I know he is wanting to flash CWM, the point I was making is if he flashes CWM it will remove the WP7 ROM, or "BREAK" the WP7 ROM.
Oh ok. I got confused because you pointed out "you can not have anything Android in nand..." My mistake.
So he can not install Clockworkmod or it will break nand WP7. Thats good to know if i ever decide to go back to it. I
know he can only boot WP7 with MAGLDR since clk does not support that but i was unsure about cwm and to be honest,
it was so early in the morning and i didnt feel like doing any leg work to get the answers since i was way to tired.

ok, so thinking outside the question, go find the clockwork thread that has 'yes/no' in the title, and there is an sd card version of cwm in there. you copy it to root of sd card, and choose " boot ad sd " from magldr to start it. However since you are running android from sd, you will need to manually edit the target folder that magldr looks for android installations.
Confirmed! Once I installed CWM it erased WP7!
so WP7 & CWM cannot be together inside the NAND. I "thought" when i have a separate partition for WP7 & CWM it would be ok, silly me comparing it to a HD
@samsamuel
I'll give that a shot!
@mengfei: not that silly really.
i was also hoping that the nand could be like a hard drive and have the boot loader and cwm in a protected area (having just installed WP7).
then, if you install wp7 or android you could still have the benefit of a backup/recovery.
(my laptop has boot-it boot manager and 7 different os's which is where i am coming from)
maybe one day eh?
(is that PCB for real?)
CWM doesn't work with android SD. You don't need it on wp7 android dual boot.
@hengsheng120
oh OK, even for fixing permissions?
@gazzacbr
i was hoping it would be possible too lol but i guess it won't be of any use to have CWM if it can't work with SD right?
& yes that PCB, thermal scanning, is real & here I am re-doing the pre-production unit. it takes up my flashing time

i was hoping it would be possible too lol but i guess it won't be of any use to have CWM if it can't work with SD right?
& yes that PCB, thermal scanning, is real & here I am re-doing the pre-production unit. it takes up my flashing time

Just use ROM manager or other apps to fix permissions

after boot to android welcome screen, the screen fade to black

hi,
i try to figure why , buy when i start the device he boot regular to adnroid but after 3 sec the screen fade to black and not responding.
the device worked good.
i decide to back to wm 6.5 and then all this mess start.
use hspl 2.08 , radio 2.15.50.14 , leo t8585 , magldr 1.13 .
any idea?
thanks.
Need more info ...
What ROM were you using?
What was the last thing you had done before this problem started?
Are you on NativeSD, SD or NAND? if NAND, which recovery?
We can't help you if you don't help us help you.
thanks for your help.
last thing i did is downloaded wm stock : RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship
but after installed this stock , phone was stuck on htc white screen with some letters in red in the left corner.
after i saw that i cant install this wm so i tried to back to the old nanndroid.
installed hspl 2.08
magldr 1.13
recovery 150M
clockwork mode 3.0.0.5
with this i installed once :
typhoon rom and hyperdroid
after that i used recovery with 400M and coredroid rom.
maybe its importent to tell that in the recovery and in the boot animation and pics there is no problam.
same same with all this
thanks again.
I wonder why people flash back to stock, and when they get problems they flash back to android.
Okay, use the HD2 Toolkit (google it) to repartition your NAND and install a later recovery. Choose a bigger partition than 150, like say 180. After that, install Typhoon or Hyperdroid and see if it works.
I am telling you this because I can't see anything wrong in your steps.

Did you switch HSPL back before flashing WinMo??

I hope that 150 MB for recovery is wrong! Your recovery partition should only be 7-10 MB!
Further you said 400 MB - is that the system partition? Are you planning to use DataOnEXT?
Make sure you set partition sizes correctly for the ROM being installed. If you have the space make the system partition 20-100 MB larger than minimum recommended in case you have bad blocks.
Hanging at boot animation can be a sign of insufficient free space in system or data partition or corrupt binaries.
This is one of the few times I might recommend a Task 29 to start clean.

hi,
i already use the task29 to delete all.
i used recovery 400 because i use ext partition with coredroid rom that use sens3.5.
after flashed wm from the start, i return to spl 2.08.
i preffer to back to wm , so if someone can help with that it will be the best.
the phone stuck after flash with the htc white screen
r 2.15.50.14
g 15.42.50.1 1u
d 3.14.04666
mayb this will help you to help me
I think you're confusing the /system partition and the recovery partition. You should change the /system partition to whatever is needed by the ROM but leave the recovery partition the same. The easiest thing to do is follow what both of the above posts say and flash a slightly larger than needed partition to account for any bad blocks by using the HD2 toolkit.
If you want to flash back to WinMo then just flash the Stock RUU from the bootloader. You shouldn't need HSPL to do this (AFAIK) but I'd flash HSPL2.08 just in case. As Marvlesz said, I also don't see anything wrong with your steps. If that doesn't work, try flashing a stock ROM from the SD card (google it).

He's probably referring to the old recovery packages. The 150mb, 250mb and 400mb. Hence the old recovery version(?)

Yeah I think ny_limited is pointing out the fact that he said 'recovery partition' when he meant 'system partition'. The old recovery version shouldn't matter, I still use the old packages and edit the flash.cfg and all ROMs I try work fine for me.

Depending on what you have used (HSPL 2 or 4) make sure you are set on either 1.66.000 SPL (HSPL2 file) or 2.08.000 (HSPL4 file).
Make sure you have the original Stock ROM/SPL for your appropriate HD2 - there probably are others but these are the ones I can find quickly at the moment:
T-Mobile Stock ROM/SPL
ELL HTC HD2 Stock ROM/SPL
French HTC HD2 Stock ROM/SPL
NLD HTC HD2 Stock ROM/SPL
Extract the .zip file the ROM comes in (if it comes in one).
Plug your phone in via USB.
Sync it with ActiveSync or Windows Device Center 6.1 and wait for it to finish.
Double click the .exe file inside the folder we extracted earlier.
Follow the prompts and wait for it to finish flashing.
Once it is done, click ok, close the program, and reboot the phone.
If all goes well that should bring you back to Windows Mobile...

Any ROM is flashed through the "treecolor bootloader", and if you can't flash your original WinMo through SD, there might be a "big" problem.

Explain further, what do you mean byt "android stuck when it finish loading system"? You mean you can see the setup wizard/lock screen but then your screen becomes unresponsive? Or you get bootloops? Or Everything force closes? What is "stuck" exactly?

Did you REALLY try nativeSD or you're just adding it to your thread without knowing what it is? Because NativeSD should have worked unless your device has a hardware issue or your setup was incorrect
You don't need HSPL to flash windows mobile, and MAGLDR doesn't work on other than 2.08.HSPL, so why flash 3.03 and 1.66? Just flash the 2.08 and stick to it.

Not necessarily, but if it's not, then you must be doing something wrong you're not telling us about .

You can try this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633243
Even though you don't have fatal hit, you can't flash anything (as you say)
I still can't understand how you can flash MAGLDR, CWM and WP7 yet you can't install Windows Mobile.
Are you sure that everything installs successfully?
yes im sure that everything install successfully...
ill try it later today thanks

When i start phone it's stuck at the boot HTC screen i wait for hours nothing happens.
the only thing i can open is the tricolour screen right now. i have no idea what to do now i was trying to get from Windows 6.5 to android
I have already done this right one another HD2 from 6.5 to anroid 2.3.7 and i had no problems, did same thing but it didn't work with this one.
Man, you're definitely have a lot of homework and (obviously) we need more info..
I'm sorry if I misunderstood something, but in general, here's what you'll need:
First, for custom ROMs whatever it is (winmo, wp, android) you're definitely need a HSPL (2.08HSPL for wp & android, or 3.03HSPL for winmo).
Second, a Radio ROM that support 576MB RAM.
Third, a loader (magldr for wp7 or android, or CLK for android only).
Fourth, a highly compatible & high speed uSD.
Fifth, a flashable recovery image (if you plan to use android).
Sixth, a flashable OS ROM image of your choice.
If your phone stuck at boot screen image (white background with a green HTC word if it's still stock boot screen), then it's definitely your NAND is empty.
No loader, no ROM image, nothing.
Read some sticky thread to dig up a lot more info.

As i said i have done this before. many times on different android devices so i know the basics i need.
I got the ROM i'm planning to put and 2.08HSPL is on the phone.
Not sure what i need the Radio ROM is for
I tried putting magldr didn't work, neither did CLK... they were put on succesfully but then i couldn't load them due to the fact there's no current ROM on the phone
SD Card is there. It's a good one
Got the recovery image
Still need help.
Probably the partition is to small and can't load, flash again and make bigger partition.

Did you flashed? You did not because it not say anything? Well, to me happened many time. If you have the right image in the folder should not be any problem. Just flash. If you still stuck in boot it's because the partition is small or you using a wrong image.
