Easy question.
Taking into consideration, power, reliability, build quality and possibility of future software updates. Wich of this phones. do you recommend to someone who is going to use the phone with official firmware only, no ROMS.
And if possible, the whys ;-)

Easy Galaxy S2 as it's faster without any of the sense bloatware and it's pretty much the best phone out there, so why settle for second best?
BUT if you like sense then go for the sensation.
And PS you came to a Galaxy S 2 forum so expect the answers to be biased!
Well i can tell you now that i had to send 4 sensations back for letting dust in under the screen. I was selling this gs2 and im glad i didn't, got so frustrated with the sensations that i popped the seal and have been using it ever since. Also when the sensation gets the sticky ring as i call it you will get that frustrated you may end up launching it at a wall

Hmm.. I like how the Sensation has that "quality feel".
+The sensation is even more expensive than GS2

I've played with the Sensation...I'm a fan of Sense and HTC devices altogether along with their features.
I now own a GS2 and I can honestly say, it's better than HTC Sensation.
Simple Answer, GS II
The GS2 is undoubtely the best smartphone available there is simply no comparison, read the many online reviews for yourself.
Galaxy s II of course,,,,, as some1 already said it,,,if u can have the best y settle for the 2nd best

galaxy s2 is better in everything (excluding sense 3.0 )
sensation is heavier..much heavier..metal is not made for phones..galaxy s2 plastic is very high quality...
screen has high resolution but is a very poor quality lcd..can not compare with the s amoled plus..no way..
ram is less and no internal ext4 storage..no sd cart can be faster than internal memory so galaxy s 2 will always be faster...
battery is 1500..galaxy s2 with the battery drain sorted can last much more..

The unlock ring to unlock the phone gets very unresponsive, to the point it can take 5 or more attempts to unlock. Then once in you can launch an app then hit back button and that is unresponsive for upto 5 -9 seconds.
I just call it sticky ring as that's just how it feels

Owned both and I stuck with the GS2 its much better. Sensation may feel nice in the hand but the death grip is very real so it went back.
Gs2 is simply the best on the market now.

Its "quality feel" isn't so much any more. The volume rocker has fallen off a few, dust gets under the screen, the power button's crooked, the back cover's delaminating, and there's display touch issues (may be software). If you read their forum, it's not a happy place.
P.S. - The SGS2 is more than the Sensation, at least in the U.K.
My Sensation works perfectly as does my SGS2. I've had ever dual core device currently out including the Evo3d (which IMO is better than the Sensation). That being said, there are devices than their is the SGS2. It's not only the best Android device available, but may be the best device currently on the market.
I choose the GS2, had no regrets.
Next part of Clove Sensation head-to-head review with the SGSII is up, this time dealing with non-video playback media, browsing, and gaming:

Never used Sensation but I can assure you that SGII is no regret.

Hi,
I will answer your question under two main thoughts.
1. Having used HTC already and nothing but HTC:
I have been an HTC person since day one. I owned the XDA,PDA2K,Tytn II,HTC HD2
Always seen HTC as a good phone, however I did have several hardware problems with them. (XDA,PDA2k none, but the PDA2k keyboard got very loose). Tytn II, one day I was using my phone and it reset, when It turned on again, the RAM available was 0. Basically I had a phone that was "read only". Could not save anything on it, not even the call log, however it used to make calls I had to change the memory chip in it to make it work again. HTC HD2, same problem happened once and after around 1.5 years of usage, the touch screen started to become buggy. I thought it was a software problem until finally the touch screen died after around 3 month of the initial symptoms. I did not fix it, I just sold it as is... I know two friends of mine who have had the same touch screen problems with the HD2.
2. HTC sensation vs. SG2:
I am the chief software specialist at telephone.com. So you can imagine that I am a hardcore developer and a very advanced user. I read over 50 pages worth of detailed reviews between the 2 phones and I must say, SG2 got the favor, always and the comparison wasn't close, Just a small recap: Wifi is better (has N), 3G speed is faster,Camera is better (both front and back), the front being the only one with 2MP in the market, most of them are VGA. Battery better, screen much better (although the resolution on the Sensation is slightly higher). GPS lock was faster during the reviews I read. Hardware in SG2 includes active noise cancellation or whatever it is called, should make your voice calls better quality.SG2 is faster (benchmarking). Memory is more, with built in 16GB and still with the possibility of sd card...
Joining these two thoughts, I decided to try out Samsung, I have never owned samsung phone before.
I have it now for around 1.5 month and the phone is simply excellent, flawless. The only problem with it was the "Wireless sharing" application that runs in the background sometimes and drains ur battery quickly. I developed the habit of killing the process after turning off wifi as I did not root my phone yet and not planning to unless I feel the urgent need for that.I think this process only starts if it detects "DLNA devices" (or Allshare devices) on the wifi, which I do have in my home. Also if I use it heavily, It tends to warm up to an above average level, I wonder if this would cause hardware problems in the long run... I usually let it rest my turning it off or exiting the CPU intensive application.
As for the plus side of using a samsung:
-Screen is excellent, beats the LCD very easily
-Being very lightweight, at first you do feel the "cheap feeling" as we are trained to feel it robust/reliable when a phone feels heavy. But after using it for sometime, especially long phone calls, I fell in love with how light it is. after 10-15 min of talking you don't feel you have a phone on your ear, which is a feeling I never had with any other phone before.
-Battery life: better
-After using touchwiz4 and getting used to it, I now like it more than the HTC Sense. The main reason behind this is that, while it may not be the best looking (but it will grow on you), interface is very smart/practical. I could intuitively find my way around the phone and using it, it is like the interface was designed for me Lots of thoughts went into making it practical when using it, even small things that the end user misses or dismisses as not important, takes lots of thought by the designers of the phone.
-The SG2 could have used dual flash for the camera, I miss this from the HD2, since sometimes at night, it does come in handy and I do feel I miss the extra light...
I hope this post makes it clearer for you to decide
I think SG2 is an excellent phone, it can easily change you from the HTC train to Samsung in no time, at least it happened to me
Best of Luck in your choice, although there is really not much room for luck in choosing, just be smart

Galaxy S is way better phone I have both.
I guess samsung galaxy S2 is coming soon !!!
Well in theory its a good swap, in terms of hardware the Galaxy S is lightly better than the X10i, the GPU in the Galaxy S is unmatched but the camera is a lot better in the X10i cos soon it will have HD recording with Continuous Autofocus which is brill, plus that beautiful screen is to die for in the Galaxy S, X10i beats the Galaxy S in terms of design, cos Galaxy S jus Looks like an iPhone wannabe, im stickin to my X10i even though i got offered a HTC Desire HD. Once it gets the 2.1 Update il be fully happy.

What about the upcoming 2.1? Is that anything to hope for and any reason to hold on to the x10?

Yeah... Agree for the SGS... I also have them both.
Only for the screen and the screen responsiveness already the SGS is way superior, not to mention the much better audio volume, audio equilizer, more memory, ability to remove the sd-card without having to remove the battery, fm radio, divx/xvid playback... and so much more...

He must have a reason to swap.Maybe not happy with it?
if you don't mind to get GPS issues and lag within the core chip of the galaxy S go for it, the Amoled display is brighter and the photo camera is better, also there is no flashlight on the samsung
also, the amoled consumes more battery displaying the white color, keep that in mind.

no that is not the case. She is not aware of the power of android and wants to sell it along with her blackberry to buy an Iphone 4. An ignorant decision according to me and probably many of you, but for the common phone user who dont quite know how to use android it looks appealing. Therefore she accepted a swap because she is selling it either way.

My Samsung Captivate is my first android phone and I've never handled an x10, so I can't make a direct comparison. But I'm very pleased with it and I doubt you would be disappointed. It is ridiculously simple to mod. I had mine rooted & Froyo'd the same day I got it. The xda SGS forums are *very* active, so if you are interested in trying different hacks/ROMs, the SGS is a good choice

My phone was slow getting a sat lock (sometimes >20 secs) while it had Eclair, but now it consistently gets a lock within 5 seconds. Lag is noticeable only when there are multiple apps still running in background. This is easily remedied by killing unneeded apps. If you think it's still laggy, you can install One Click Lag Fix (OCLF) and lag disappears automagically
Yes, the screen consumes juice to show colors & white, but it uses *no* battery to show black. That is also why the contrast is awesome (black is black, not dark grey)
My phone's camera isn't the best and there's no LED flash, but it's good enough for quick shots of everyday stuff
Dropped from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
No.
The only thing I like about the Galaxy S is the screen, it really is better than the X10's. That's about it though -- I wouldn't be wanting to hold that - as someone already mentioned - horribly tacky looking phone. It's embarassing. Samsung's TouchWiz UI is comical. Seemingly they targeted the 8-12 year old crowd and by the looks of it, they've succeeded. The X10's UI is FAR more profesional looking.
The X10's build quality and looks are to die for, I wouldn't even dream about swapping it for anything else. I've also demonstrated the X10 to many inquisitive people, definitely much more than when I had the iPhone previously. Currently it can be modded to a decent level as you can see from the Homescreen screenshots thread -- and with 2.1 coming, I'm confident it'll address few other shortcomings the X10 initially had when it launched. Personally I don't care about 16 million colors, it doesn't seem to hinder my media experience one bit.
Ultimately, it's your choice -- all the best
GUYS I am really desperate I want to buy a new phone on Monday and I am totally lost as to what I should get. I finally figured out two phones I would like to get. Either the DHD or the SGS. They both have there ups and downs, and its really really really hard to pick one lol... u cant imagine how hard it is. Could you perhaps give me some advice as to what I should buy please? I would really appreciate it !!!!
If you search the forum you'll see there is already a thread for this.
I want my own
Do you mean sgh i9000 I can't find a phone called sgs i9000
I mean Samsung galaxy s i9000 aka SGS
I think you should definitely go for the DHD.. more ups than downs better quality (metal) SGS is plastic and simply looks like a old Iphone... blah bla... HTC rocks!
period!
Yep but it's full of bugs and badly made (battery and sim cover) upside however is HTC release fixes quicker and android upgrades quicker than most.
Problems at present are the laggyness, sim and battery cover issues, crashes on market, not so good camera, reboots occasdionally

Galaxy S for form factor, display Super Amoled best ever seen, because 10 millions people have it now and more and more will have later and will have the best support ever (XDA rulez, and if you see now there are some ROM which make it incredible fast and no lagg or crash, even better than Nexus One)
Than you can wait for Nexus Two
You will spend less to have the best in market now.
Why cant people just look in the freaking forum or use the search bar, theres already a thread about this..
Don't have all those problems no lagging no occasionally reboots.. crashes on market are true but not anymore now I can download and install all apps want fluently..
The sim cover is indeed a little bit of poor quality but I use a silicone case which compensate it.
truly, the design of the sim cover is good as it allows quick access to your SD and sim without having to remove the battery.
And about the battery... if you use your phone correct then there is no need to remove the battery.
Camera is perfect for stills in all conditions (yes also in the dark, due the dual-LED flash) Recording mode is good in good conditions but in the dark you can record while the dual-LED flash light is still on.. the quality isn't that perfect but it is good for me...

11 Nov Gingerbread release or the Nexus S release? But if it was the nexus S release then why would they bother making 2 events 3 days apart wouldn't it be more logical to announce everything on one day?
I had to make this choice a couple of weeks ago and went for the HD, not regretting it at all.
I'm not noticing any of the 'downsides' mentioned here (slowdowns, reboots etc).
True the battery and sim covers are fiddly and spoil the initial unboxing experience as you need to open them both to get your device working, but once you've got them back on (which there's a knack to) you need never touch them again and the rest of the phones build quality is excellent, the SGS felt very plastic to me when I tried it out.
Put it this way, my Steve Jobs worshiping flatmate said it's as good as his iPhone 4 which is a BIG admission from him... almost had a tear in his eye as he said it
I sold my SGS for DHD
I sold my SGS and got the DHD.
Now I wonder It wasnt really necessary. Screen on Galaxy S is really awesome.
DHD's screen is good. very crisp text but not as good as Super Amoled.
Speakers on Galaxy S is nice on the other hand speakars are just pure pathetic on DHD. I cant hear a while playing youtube videos. You have to uses the headphone.
I think problem with the camera on DHD is software issue. Needs upgrading. To be honest 5 MP SGS takes better picture than DHD in a well lit environment.
To make things clear. Issues with DHD.
1. Awful speakers
2.Bad camera software (hope its not hardware)
3. Battery and sim lid could have been better but ok for me.
4. Flash videos are laggy. ( Was better on SGS after the last Froyo update)
Now things to consider to get DHD-
1.Living on the fast lane (lol 1600+ score on quadrant)
2. big screen (black level not as good as SGS)
3. Feels solid than SGS. Good build except as mentioned above.
3. HTC sense.com experience. ( really good)
4.More frequent update than Samsung.
So cant think of anything for the time being
Also had to make this choice.
I simply held both phones in either hand, the DHD felt like it was worth something, the SGS felt like it was worth £140 + £10 top up on PAYG.
The SGS is a brilliant phone, but its light, plastic and feels cheaply made - it doesn't have that premium feel you want your nice new expensive phone to have
And the DHD screens a monster, all my iPhone 4 friends love playing Angry Birds on the mammoth screen.
I guess it's settled then... Unless Samsung comes out with the Nexus S in the near future I will be getting the DHD. Thank you guys for helping me !!!
Just get an iphone 4 best phone ever desire hd and galaxy s are terrible ;D

i had sensation as second phone so i would like to share my feelings.
I purchased this flagship from HTC having HTC desire S, and also HD. Desire S is owned by my wife atm and she is happy enough. so i like HTC - thats for start
First feelings - impressed- nice phone. Got it - charged to full and lets rock!
Booting and starting to check out system. after 1 hour with screen on + wifi my battery went down to 35% - i say ok its the first cycle lets wait. - after one week its the same. if u wanna watch movie in plane while flying for about 2 hours u better take spare battery - not saying there is no divx support at all.
- keeping sync on gmail and just stand by eats the battery about 10% a hour! not touching the device at all.
-i though ok, lets live with pure battery anyway. but then it started. while holding the phone in landscape - death grip is saying HELLLOOOO i am here! loosing conectivity is normal - wifi disapear - signal went down 2. amazing. i coudlnt believe it. i had never suffered from anything like that -talking about HTC.
-web browsing - no hardware acerelation at all means opening web sites with heavy flash content is taking ages. not mentioning zoom in or out during the stream. while SGS2 can keep streaming during the zooming interval without any lags or issues! i was disapointed a badly. i can see small plus with the resolution - u can feel small diference - i mean better - sharper pages. but not brigther or lighter - the display is so reflective that u can use it as mirror and using the phone under direct sunnlight is almost impossible. so one more +handy mirror
someone rings you? hm how can u hear the phone if the volume set on max is extremly low - even my dog cant hear it!!! if u wanna share some youtube video with your friends they gotta put thems ears on the back panel in order to enjoy it. another disapointment - a big one. not speaking about the quality of the speaker (poor anyway) its about the noise level - being extremly low.
i said ok i like HTC so lets find something i can like/enjoy and finally be happy about.
camera/compare to SGS2 is a bit disapointing again. double flash doesnt help. i could paint better pics then sensation can make. i mean it.macro? what is it?
so i kept going and trying - still searching with hope i will like something.
i though ok i will use it as gps navigation in car at least. lol what a fail. after 4 hours on gps battery dead! maybe i am gonna develop double car charger 2in1 in order to keep sensation alive.
no i am not HTC hater at all. but the huge disapointment that HTC made this time is deadly bad. They made nice looking compact device without brain. its like ferrari with skoda engine and seats from seat. i though it will bring something extraordinary and special - even after installing costum roms - the battery improved and speed 2 - not browsing speed and the battery went up from 8 hours moderate use to 8 hours and 10 min - not mentioning juice defender on at all the times ofc.
so i just changed the sensation on local advertising web site for another SGS2 - u set the add and then meet the possible costumer in person.
and i told the guy that i made the deal with him - lets exhchange hurry - and now i will tell u what u did. U could see his frozen face! He become my friend now and after having almost all previous HTC devices he said he wont come back untill something better will be developed - on HTC side.
SO happy days guys here. And just small tip - sensation is the only one device getting closer in terms off hardware to SGS2 - but the reall power of SGS2 is deep in THE SKY!
I hope this will help some people with doubs about battery life and performance issues.
Once again - i have nothing against HTC and i like them, but i believe they didnt set up sensation well atm. looking at stats list it should perform much better then it does. just quick example - i dont like quadrant or bench tests once its fast and smooth i dont need any bench to confirm that. but the highest i could get from sensation was 3400 on quandrant with 1600 OC!!!!! lol
so i will end this with words;
HAPPY BRIGHT DAYS WITH SAMSUNG
forgive me for my broken english

The Sensation is seeming more and more like an interim flagship. The E3D already has more RAM and from everything posted Sense 3.0 is a pig and needs all it can get. The Vigor on Verizon is going to have a full 720p display and a 1.5ghz processor. The Holiday on AT&T is going to have a 4.5" qHD display and also 1GB of RAM. By the end of the year the Sensation's going to be forgotten.

I've only just recently jumped onto android after owning every iphone, the sensation was a handset I was considering but reviews put me off.

If I had to guess, I'd say either a SGS2.5 or SGS3 will be out before the holidays. The Nexus 3/Prime is supposed to be out in October and the advances I mentioned above in the two HTC phones will probably prompt Samsung to release something higher end. Think about this though. They just updated and are continuing to sell a version of the SGS1 and it's been out for over a year. So the SGS2 may not be state-of-the-art by Christmas but it should still very much be current.
honestly i believe u can use SGS2 for about an year - untill another companies will reach its level. and SGS2 will last on the top untill SGS3 will be released. and the date inst confirmed yet. but SGS1 is still a good phone. if u dont have enough money or dont wanna waste it just stay where u ar and wait for bargain to upgrade.

Thanks.
That's one thing I find overwhelming coming from apple phones, android has so many handsets running so many different versions of the operating system.
With an apple handset you're pretty much fine for a year, though you have to put up with the restrictive nature of ios.
Ah well either way I'm going to try and keep hold of this handset for 12 months, unless something really tempts me to "upgrade"

I appreciate the OP's comments as I have been wondering how the HTC sensation fares compared to the SGS2. I also find it funny that the HTC battery seems to be a little worse than SGS2 especially given the complaints by some SGS2 users about battery life. I can watch about 5 hours of video on mine no problem.

I have the Sensation as well and the battery life on it is pretty bad. On the SGS2 with moderate to heavy use I get about 16-18 hours. WIth the Sensation it's a miracle if I get 10. There are two things about the Sensation that are better than the SGS2 and only one is of any practical significance. The first is the HTC keyboard. The auto-correct function on the HTC device is excellent and is far better than Samsung's stock keyboard. The other is weather. No one comes close to what HTC has done with their weather UI. It's nice eye candy but that's about it.

I wouldnt know what to feel if something new and better comes out before the end of the year, If they are going nvidia quadcore (Kal-El) then its highly possible they are gonna out a 720P screen as its been in production already.. I wonder if they improved anything aside from bumping the res.
The SGS1 was the fastest phone for almost a year when it got released. NOTHING from the competition could compare when it came down to pure specs last year.
The Desire HD and iPhone 4 were the closest competition, and the SGS1 always won out in benchmarks and in IRL usage.
I would say that the SGS2 will probably not be trumped until early next year. The Nexus Prime will probably have similar innards as the SGS2

iRL usage there are some few aspects the the Iphone4 is faster but other usage scenarios the S1 was faster and was even far more functional than the Iphone4.
Im pretty sure Iphone5 will be targeted to compete with the S2, Infact I even wish the Iphone5 would be better + faster in the majority of tests so that Samsung and Google can hurry up ang release the S3 and ICS.

This would fall under "General" or "Q&A" but we all know that no one clicks on those tabs anymore, in addition this has a little to do with development. Seeing that the mt3gs is ancient in smartphone years and that our major developers have moved on, I figured we could start a comparison thread. Before I start I would like to thank all the teams that worked hard for all of us to better enjoy the "slide"; Team Cyanogen, Arrayray, CR, CM, Guitarist, Highly Medicated so on and so on. (if I missed anyone its not personal your work is also appreciated.) With that being said its time to discuss what's next..
I myself am almost due for an upgrade and would like the communities opinion on where to go next. Right now I have two options MyTouch 4G Slide versus HTC Sensation. So far the advantage of mt4gs is the awesome camera software and hardware, but lacks in the screen section which is not qHD. I'm open to discussion and opinions, also if there is any other phone you'd like to mention please do so.
It would be nice to get a mt4gs since a lot of our devs went that route and I'd be able to keep following them but I seen some nice development in the Sensation community as well. Any opinions?

I have seen them both and I have to say the sensation is one of the best phones I have ever seen. It has a beautiful design and a really clear camera with 1080p HD camera. If you ask me, id go with the sensation. But that's only my opinion, in the end its all down to personal perspective. Whether you like a slide out keyboard or you like having a large screen. It all depends what you like.

Agreed, on both posts, I do have a long time before I can upgrade (got this as a gift) but i figure I will jus pay cash for one from like amazon.com or something! and The Sensation is Absolutely hands down the best Android Phone to date! HOWEVER, while I am still a slide user, i will develop for it proudly!
Just got a 4g slide today and am liking it the way it is so far. I HATED sense on my 3g slide but Sense 3.0 is much better IMO. Camera is awesome as well. I need the hard keyboard so my choice was easy.

I went and demo'd both phones today and I found something interesting.. the HTC Sensation is shipped with 2.3.3 while the mytouch 4G slide ships with 2.3.4. Thx for the mention, but i feel like all i did was get people's toes wet concerning gingerbread with sense. Really wish i had time to do more for everyone. Thankfully team medicated worked hard to bring a working gingerbread rom for us.
As far as a new phone, its almost scary to buy a new phone knowing something better will be out in 6 months or so and we're stuck with that phone for another 18 months. Personally, i've looked so many times at other phones that i think the store reps know my face by now lol. I just cant bring myself to spend hundreds of dollars to get with the hottest handset. Its tough, but waiting till im due for a full discount on a new handset. Im really intreaged to see what google's next handset is going to be. It should be out by mid 2012. I just hope its better than the nexus s. Lets face it, nexus one blew us away, but the nexus s was a bit of a let down. A beautiful handset, i just expect a google phone to be the best out there.
Personally, at the start, i really hated the Slide and was getting disappointed that i even bought it. It's only thanks to developers here that had the SalsaSlide made possible that i've actually started enjoying using it.
As for a new phone, i don't run after technology, i've learned that it's a losing race and if my phone keeps working, then i see no reason of upgrading it just for saying i have the latest. What can i say, i'm not an apple fanatic that will rush to spend hundreds just to get the exact same phone in white
Anyway, if i'll be fully honest with you guys, once they get Android on the Fuze as native OS. I'd probably be switching to it, so instead of upgrading i'd be downgrading
Guitarist you deserve to be credited, in my opinion you introduced gingersense to the slide which gave devs the jumpstart to want to incorporate sense back into roms. Thanx again. Undoubtedly there will always be another smarter phone that's just how it goes. I also understand Sefy also, it is not only money draining to keep up with the latest handset but it is a bit cliche for that matter. (my secondary is still an iPhone 3gs, never upgrading my Apple handset)
Speaking of phones dropping in 2012, I stumbled upon an article earlier that's a game changer for Google. Google has agreed to buy Motorola mobility for 12.5 billion. Here's the article

I've been using a G2x since June. I do miss the slide's community though. Not that it should really affect what phone you get.
I decided that now that I have a phone with not just one, but two 1ghz cores I can rest, haha. I hate looking at the G2x forums though, at least general anyways. It's full of trolls and rudeness, lol.
I kind of wish I had stuck it out a little longer and got the mt4gs and feel like I upgraded rather than just went to a new phone completely.
It IS fast though. I got lucky enough to not get one of the terrible ones.
Wow I felt like this a while ago and I am torn about getting a new phone when there are a lot of phones out there and its hard to choose what to get next. Mt4gs looks like a great phone and might jump ship to it.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA Premium App
The developing community for the Slide slowed down a long time ago. I stopped really even checking back, haven't logged in for ages. I'm due for an upgrade on September 16th, and I'm DEFINITELY going for the HTC Sensation. The screen is bigger, super high resolution, 1080p video shooting, and better battery life. I liked having a physical keyboard with my Slide, but it is cumbersome as it makes the phone significantly thicker and heavier. On an MDPI device I would go for the hard keyboard, but on HDPI, ESPECIALLY qHD 4.3" screens, I have no problem typing on the screen's keyboard. It's worth the thinner and lighter phone. Plus, on the Sensation, almost the entire front of the phone is screen space. The mts4g seems to have a thick frame around the screen, especially on the top of it, which I don't like. Yeah, sure, the camera features of the mts4g are certainly attractive, but at least for me, since my Slide camera has been broken ever since I got the phone and I was never that big of a camera user to begin with, the Sensation is a MUCH better bet. Both phones are the same price.
I had the mt3gs since It's release, after much thought and consideration, I decided that like this forum it was dead, so I upgraded with the myTouch 4G Slide. I love it, the keyboard, the screen, the look and feel. It's just like I ran my mt3gs through an update machine and the MT4GS was the result. Although it doesn't have the giant 4.3 inch touch screen and while it is not a not a super light phone, I have had a great experience so far.
The camera, let's start there, fast, clear, macro settings better than any phone I've seen so far, don't believe me, my Google+ profile has a pic of a mosquito I took with no zoom. (Link on profile) the sweep shot, the HDR multi shot that layers different white balance shots up to get great definition and color in bright light, (backlit pics as well). The action shot and shutter (as long as the camera app is already open) is just as fast as they claim, but if not held very still can be just slightly blurred, but better still than most mid grade digital cameras on the market. The only thing keeping this camera from being an actual replacement it the lack of an optical zoom. Oh and night shots....they are pretty nice as well.
The screen, 3.7" inches, Super LCD, is crisp and clear, with resolution that has honestly impressed me. The best part? You have a screen that's big enough to enjoy watching videos on and you don't feel like your gonna break your thumbs trying to reach the screen's extremities. Although I do wish it was just a little larger when gaming.
The processor, a 1.2GHz Dual Core, Snapdragon, is a beautiful change from the 600mhz of the mt3gs, finally games and apps that none of us could enjoy like Gun Bros, Need for Speed, Dungeon Defenders, and Google Earth are smooth and flowing. Even Quadrant standard's video benchmarks are now enjoyable to watch.
The keyboard, which is the reason anyone wants the phone is quite different from it's predecessor's or any others I've seen or used. The buttons are almost flat and press very easily, almost too easily at first but after about a week of using it, it's almost a pleasure to use, just be careful of the back button when typing the letter 'M', I have lost several Facebook posts, even part of this post so far.
Sense 3.0 is beautiful but it and it's components eat up 3GB of the MT4GS 4GB of on-board storage and around 40% of its 768MB of RAM. And T-Mobile's removal of the 7 screen option and lockscreen shortcuts make it slightly frustrating.
Kid Zone is also a big annoyance, while it is a neat alternative lockscreen geared toward kids is built into sense and not exactly what I would make for a child.
The '4G' aspect is not quite all its claimed to be, in Pittsburgh averaging 3-4 Mbps, but is quite a bit more reliable than I would have thought. The GPS is fast to lock, till rooted it seems, and compass and multiple rotation sensors make it crazy accurate and very sensitive. This makes it great for gaming, almost as good as a gyroscope, if not slightly better in some aspects. And the Bluetooth 3.0 makes file pushes fast and simple. And the usb transfers at around 4MB/s making video upload easy.
The over all feel of the phone is awkward at first being just slightly thicker than the HTC glacier(MT4G) yet not as thick and stocky as the mt3gs, it has grown on me more everyday, and I am very happy I made this choice.
My over all rating of this phone would be a 4.5 out of 5, it is a beautiful piece of technology, and should be relevant for a while to come.

Neanderthal, thanx for that beautiful review and sharing your personal experience with the mt4gs. I also must admit after I demo'd the handset I've been wanting it more and more.
Speaking of other phones, does anyone know if the Nokia N9 will work on tmobile? It's a sick piece of equipment and IS the best camera for smart phone. The UI is effin dope and from specs and reviews this phone is killer. Any help will be appreciated .. thanx again for all the input. If there are any other phones out there please post. I just replaced my wifes MTS (Warranty) with a MTS in red, she loves the phone with CM7 on it and she likes the keyboard all in total I have replaced the 2 mytouch slides 5 times through t-mobile due to hardware failure (Camera, Front buttons, and keyboard issues)
I however just ordered a G2x and it should be here today, I'm not going anywhere though, I have always liked the MTS though it has not been a reliable phone CM7 Makes it so much better. One of the reasons I got a G2x is it has Vanilla android so I will get updates faster (More likely than phones with Sense)

As a fellow G2x member, I say welcome! However to the updates, I'd have to say... Nope. We don't quite have Vanilla android... We waited a few months for Gingerbread and when we got it, it was "half-baked" and still not exactly Vanilla.
But the phone is a beast. Do enjoy it, cause I know I do.
And there's always rooting and roms.
I have had my Sony Xperia z for over a week now. I have been so impressed with the phone, it's speed, interface etc. The sound could be better but overall it's hard to complain. Defiantly the best phone I've owned.
Vodafone have kindly aloud me to trade my Xperia for the new HTC ONE at no cost or anything, straight swap. I know of HTC's recent poor history. My friends and family have had old HTC's (2/3 year old models) and they have been extremely poor in terms of reliability.
Just looking some opinions on the phones. I have read and watched many reviews on both phones and the HTC almost always comes out on top on each categorie (design, speed etc)
Considering it's a straight swap is it worth it and why. I'm a heavy phone user and I understand that phones with specs as close as these two are to each other that the differences is down to opinion. But would like some more expect (better knowledge or HTC ONE user help)
Thanks in advance

It's funny, my opinion might be of value to you.
In February I made my choice: the Xperia Z. I got it at the end of February and owned it for about 4-5 days. Then I send it back, cancelled my order. Yes, I was very happy my carrier accepted it. Why did I do it? First of all, what I didn't like about the XZ:
• Ergonomics: the phone may not be much larger on paper then my S3, but in my hand it felt much less comfortable. Ergnomic wise, the XZ is bad: it's all look but not so much feel. Because of the shape it was just not comfortable for me to use, mostly one handed. Note: I do have small hands.
• The One: On the other hand, the HTC One is a pleasure to use. Just looking at it's curved back and sides, you already can conclude it's nice in the hand. My feeling has been confirmed by all the fantastic reviews about the One. And besides ergonomics, it's seen as the most beautiful/premium looking phone out now.
• The screen: while the XZ's screen was super sharp, there are some problems with it. I have owned my Galaxy S3 for a year, seen the HTC One X a ton of times, but the XZ's screen just seems "washed out" compared to these 2012 flagship's. You really see it when looking from a side (angle) at the XZ's screen: it just seems "washed out". While you can still see what the screen is displaying, this does give the feeling of a "non-premium" product. It bothered me.
• The One: The One's screen is considered one of the best, if not the best, screen out now at the moment. It's the sharpest screen (it won't be a huge difference with the XZ in this aspect), but it also has fantastic viewing angles and contrast. The screen just looks much better, no doubt. While it's 4.7" and smaller then the XZ's 5" screen, you actually see more content 90% of the time on the One. The XZ has onscreen buttons, which the One doesn't. So when webbrowsing, chatting, using your homescreen, etc, you will actually see more on the One then on the XZ. Overall: the One wins with a supperior screen.
These are the 2 main reasons I send back the XZ and waited for something else. Now I can go on by saying that the One has much better speakers, also better audio quality overall (check GSMArena, audio wise the One is fantastic). The One also comes with at least 32GB of storage, though the XZ has microsd card support. For me, the One's camera is also (probably) better because of the excellent low light performance (most picture I take are at party's when going out..).
I would say to you: do the ergonomics and the screen of the XZ bother you? If yes, go for the One!
ps: I'm not really scared about HTC. I owned an HTC HD2 and HTC Desire, before my Galaxy S2 and S3. Both HTC devices were great, expect that the HD2 ran Windows Mobile 6.5 and microsoft announched WP7 3 months after I bought the HD2 If I hadn't send back my XZ and I would be offered what you are being offered, I would go for it no doubt.
ps2: I'm not going for the S4 for several reasons. First of all, I have owned the S2 and S3 the past 2 years. I would really like something new. Second, expect a sharper screen, I won't notice I have a new mobile if I upgrade from the S3 -> S4. Further more, I don't like touchwiz and I am running Cyanogenmod on my S3. The CM team is not happy at all about the S4 and I don't see a CM-build for it anytime soon. So for me going from the S3 to the S4 would almost be a downgrade.. I know, it sounds stupid but it really feels that way.

bad experiences?
ive owned
desire
desire hd
htc one s
htc one x
now the one.
the only one i ever found issue on was the one x,with the wifi. The desire and dhd were amazing phones.
ive got a weird issue with the htc one ive got,i think its a first batch? still regardless im getting another one. The s4..is the s4.you either like it or you dont. I still say the htc blows it out of the water. for sense alone comparable to touchwiz.
id say do the trade, although the xperia z is supposed to be a great phone. Probably down to which one you like the look of more than actual specifications. Although shelf life wise id say the htc one. Sony are already gearing up there next flagship which is weird considering the xperia z hasnt been out long.
i say do the trade.i was tempted with the z..but never had one of the newer generation smartphones..so decided against it.
best bet try the htc one in a shop
Thanks very much for your input. Very detailed and exceptionally helpful. Defiantly going for the trade. Super excited

I was initially in the market for the xperia z until feb 19th..... htc one announcement and it only took me three minutes to test out the camera/video and audio on the htc one and cancel my pre order of xperia z.
since then I have played with both side by side and I think the main things of the phone are better on the One
camera (imo)
video/video audio
audio quality and volume
battery life is great on the one (havent heard good news from my friend who has the z (and is now going to change it for the htc one) and other people who have the z)
call quality and volume
speed
UI(imo)
look and feel (imo)
loud speakers
I've used both but had to choose one to keep. I kept the XZ.
The HTC had a better screen and much better speakers and that's something I was very impressed by. Even Sense and the optional flash player were an advantage.
However, I was not convinced by it's reliability when it came to the basics. By that I am specifically referring to the signal reception. In LTE it just does not hold well to the signal in poor reception areas as the XZ and the Nokia 920. I'm on EE so this could be different when Voda launch 4g as I believe they are on the 800 Mhz band.
The HTC is one of the best smartphones but once again HTC fail on mastering the basics. They have a beautifully engineered phone yet the wireless components are always questionable.
These 2 videos show what I mean by signal instability and fluctuations. Watch the 2 phones on the same network and the variance in signal strength. I've had such a poor experience with LTE on this phone and it dropped so many calls that has not happened once on the XZ which I am enjoying high speed and stability even on one bar of LTE. (also better battery).
It's a shame about the HTC but it may be fixed with a software update.

I've owned several Sony, Samsung and htc products over the years and all have their shortcomings no doubt. None of created the "perfect" phone and nor will they ever.
Sony phone screen's always look washed out and ui sluggish and unfortunaletly Z is no different especially when comparing to S3, Note 2 and Htc One. That's been the biggest issue with Sony phones. I was tempted to get the Xperia Z because 5" 1080p, sd card, white colour but after playing with it I wasn't impressed, it reminded me of my Xperia T experience, which wasn't pleasant. Primarily sluggish, crashing and washed out colours.
HTC One on the other hand is a pleasure to use.
No lagging issues.
No crashing issues.
Sound is amazing, LOUD and clear.
Ui is brilliant and very different.
Camera is very good.
Screen is gorgeous, vibrant, bright and very sharp. Second to none far superior then Z.
Better reception, certainly better then S3, Note 2 and Sony T.
But what convinced me in getting HTC One, other the above mentioned points, rather then wait for S4 or Z was the premuim build, SLCD3 screen.
So good move mate you won't regret it.
Without a doubt trade it in and get the HTC One, myself and a mate (we're both technical geeks) found the screen on the Z lacking and the pinch and zoom gestures where hit and miss to say the least but let me push out a few points to you for why the one is for you ..
1. fast fluid and zero lag no matter how many apps are open
2. amazing screen with very good viewing angles
3. stunning audio (coming from a guy who doesn't really care about phone audio)
4. very clear call quality
5. camera can give very surprising results if used properly
6. 4 to 7 hours of screen on time
Bad points.
1. can get hot to the touch
2. can be slippy when holding it due to the metal back

How hot are we talking.
And no lag even with heavy apps and low battery?

Not hot enough that it is uncomfortable but it does get warm to the touch and not noticed any lag even with the battery almost flat.

The heat is under what circunstances? Playing games? Charging? Or it gets heat just by browsing, FB, etc?

From charging the phone as I don't play games on it or from constant use but too be honest it's barely noticeable.
Thank you all for your super detailed and honest device. My HTC One comes tomorrow and i'm more than excited for it. I think I could have a mental problem when it comes to buying, selling and trading new things. I get bored easily and usually change my phone, console or whatever I can every 4-6months.
I cannot fault the XZ. When I get the One tomorrow im not going to be biased if it never faults me and say that the Sony XZ is a poor phone or anything like that. Im not one to use a camera that often, I prefer performance and sound and I feel the One has that.
I wouldn't be trading these phones if it came to any cost to me, don't think it would be worth the trade if it cost me £. There was also an update out today from HTC improve there One's camera in high-light. Glad to see issues being addressed quickly by HTC.
I have always been an iPhone fan but have seen the light and will be staying with android with this trade, and gladly so. Apple iOS is outdated and I couldnt believe the much 'jailbreaking' could be done with an android phone. Look forward to learning more by using ROM's etc to get the most out of my HTC One, I would aim to have the best possible battery endurance and processor speed etc.
If anyone has any knowledge of a current ROM or up coming ROM that is in development that they could recommend for the perks I have mentioned I'd be very grateful for those recommendations.
Thanks again, and I will be sure to give uses all a update on my opinions of the HTC One compared to the Sony XZ
