So far the advantage of mt4gs is the awesome camera software and hardware, but lacks in the screen section which is not qHD. I'm open to discussion and opinions, also if there is any other phone you'd like to mention please do so.
It would be nice to get a mt4gs since a lot of our devs went that route and I'd be able to keep following them but I seen some nice development in the Sensation community as well. Any opinions?

I have seen them both and I have to say the sensation is one of the best phones I have ever seen. It has a beautiful design and a really clear camera with 1080p HD camera. If you ask me, id go with the sensation. But that's only my opinion, in the end its all down to personal perspective. Whether you like a slide out keyboard or you like having a large screen. It all depends what you like.

Agreed, on both posts, I do have a long time before I can upgrade (got this as a gift) but i figure I will jus pay cash for one from like amazon.com or something! and The Sensation is Absolutely hands down the best Android Phone to date! HOWEVER, while I am still a slide user, i will develop for it proudly!
Just got a 4g slide today and am liking it the way it is so far. I HATED sense on my 3g slide but Sense 3.0 is much better IMO. Camera is awesome as well. I need the hard keyboard so my choice was easy.

Thank you guys for your opinions and input. I went and demo'd both phones today and I found something interesting.. the HTC Sensation is shipped with 2.3.3 while the mytouch 4G slide ships with 2.3.4. When I checked for an update on the sensation nothing showed up. Im sure they'll have the update soon

Thx for the mention, but i feel like all i did was get people's toes wet concerning gingerbread with sense. Really wish i had time to do more for everyone. Thankfully team medicated worked hard to bring a working gingerbread rom for us.
As far as a new phone, its almost scary to buy a new phone knowing something better will be out in 6 months or so and we're stuck with that phone for another 18 months. Personally, i've looked so many times at other phones that i think the store reps know my face by now lol. I just cant bring myself to spend hundreds of dollars to get with the hottest handset. Its tough, but waiting till im due for a full discount on a new handset. Im really intreaged to see what google's next handset is going to be. It should be out by mid 2012. I just hope its better than the nexus s. Lets face it, nexus one blew us away, but the nexus s was a bit of a let down. A beautiful handset, i just expect a google phone to be the best out there.
Personally, at the start, i really hated the Slide and was getting disappointed that i even bought it. It's only thanks to developers here that had the SalsaSlide made possible that i've actually started enjoying using it.
As for a new phone, i don't run after technology, i've learned that it's a losing race and if my phone keeps working, then i see no reason of upgrading it just for saying i have the latest. What can i say, i'm not an apple fanatic that will rush to spend hundreds just to get the exact same phone in white
Anyway, if i'll be fully honest with you guys, once they get Android on the Fuze as native OS. I'd probably be switching to it, so instead of upgrading i'd be downgrading
Guitarist you deserve to be credited, in my opinion you introduced gingersense to the slide which gave devs the jumpstart to want to incorporate sense back into roms. Thanx again. Undoubtedly there will always be another smarter phone that's just how it goes. I also understand Sefy also, it is not only money draining to keep up with the latest handset but it is a bit cliche for that matter. (my secondary is still an iPhone 3gs, never upgrading my Apple handset)

I've been using a G2x since June. I do miss the slide's community though. Not that it should really affect what phone you get.
I decided that now that I have a phone with not just one, but two 1ghz cores I can rest, haha. I hate looking at the G2x forums though, at least general anyways. It's full of trolls and rudeness, lol.
I kind of wish I had stuck it out a little longer and got the mt4gs and feel like I upgraded rather than just went to a new phone completely.
It IS fast though. I got lucky enough to not get one of the terrible ones.
Wow I felt like this a while ago and I am torn about getting a new phone when there are a lot of phones out there and its hard to choose what to get next. Mt4gs looks like a great phone and might jump ship to it.

The developing community for the Slide slowed down a long time ago. I stopped really even checking back, haven't logged in for ages. I'm due for an upgrade on September 16th, and I'm DEFINITELY going for the HTC Sensation. The screen is bigger, super high resolution, 1080p video shooting, and better battery life. I liked having a physical keyboard with my Slide, but it is cumbersome as it makes the phone significantly thicker and heavier. On an MDPI device I would go for the hard keyboard, but on HDPI, ESPECIALLY qHD 4.3" screens, I have no problem typing on the screen's keyboard. It's worth the thinner and lighter phone. Plus, on the Sensation, almost the entire front of the phone is screen space. The mts4g seems to have a thick frame around the screen, especially on the top of it, which I don't like. Yeah, sure, the camera features of the mts4g are certainly attractive, but at least for me, since my Slide camera has been broken ever since I got the phone and I was never that big of a camera user to begin with, the Sensation is a MUCH better bet. Both phones are the same price.
I had the mt3gs since It's release, after much thought and consideration, I decided that like this forum it was dead, so I upgraded with the myTouch 4G Slide. I love it, the keyboard, the screen, the look and feel. It's just like I ran my mt3gs through an update machine and the MT4GS was the result. Although it doesn't have the giant 4.3 inch touch screen and while it is not a not a super light phone, I have had a great experience so far.
The camera, let's start there, fast, clear, macro settings better than any phone I've seen so far, don't believe me, my Google+ profile has a pic of a mosquito I took with no zoom. (Link on profile) the sweep shot, the HDR multi shot that layers different white balance shots up to get great definition and color in bright light, (backlit pics as well). The action shot and shutter (as long as the camera app is already open) is just as fast as they claim, but if not held very still can be just slightly blurred, but better still than most mid grade digital cameras on the market. The only thing keeping this camera from being an actual replacement it the lack of an optical zoom. Oh and night shots....they are pretty nice as well.
The screen, 3.7" inches, Super LCD, is crisp and clear, with resolution that has honestly impressed me. The best part? You have a screen that's big enough to enjoy watching videos on and you don't feel like your gonna break your thumbs trying to reach the screen's extremities. Although I do wish it was just a little larger when gaming.
The processor, a 1.2GHz Dual Core, Snapdragon, is a beautiful change from the 600mhz of the mt3gs, finally games and apps that none of us could enjoy like Gun Bros, Need for Speed, Dungeon Defenders, and Google Earth are smooth and flowing. Even Quadrant standard's video benchmarks are now enjoyable to watch.
The keyboard, which is the reason anyone wants the phone is quite different from it's predecessor's or any others I've seen or used. The buttons are almost flat and press very easily, almost too easily at first but after about a week of using it, it's almost a pleasure to use, just be careful of the back button when typing the letter 'M', I have lost several Facebook posts, even part of this post so far.
Sense 3.0 is beautiful but it and it's components eat up 3GB of the MT4GS 4GB of on-board storage and around 40% of its 768MB of RAM. And T-Mobile's removal of the 7 screen option and lockscreen shortcuts make it slightly frustrating.
Kid Zone is also a big annoyance, while it is a neat alternative lockscreen geared toward kids is built into sense and not exactly what I would make for a child.
The '4G' aspect is not quite all its claimed to be, in Pittsburgh averaging 3-4 Mbps, but is quite a bit more reliable than I would have thought. The GPS is fast to lock, till rooted it seems, and compass and multiple rotation sensors make it crazy accurate and very sensitive. This makes it great for gaming, almost as good as a gyroscope, if not slightly better in some aspects. And the Bluetooth 3.0 makes file pushes fast and simple. And the usb transfers at around 4MB/s making video upload easy.
The over all feel of the phone is awkward at first being just slightly thicker than the HTC glacier(MT4G) yet not as thick and stocky as the mt3gs, it has grown on me more everyday, and I am very happy I made this choice.
My over all rating of this phone would be a 4.5 out of 5, it is a beautiful piece of technology, and should be relevant for a while to come.

Speaking of other phones, does anyone know if the Nokia N9 will work on tmobile? It's a sick piece of equipment and IS the best camera for smart phone. The UI is effin dope and from specs and reviews this phone is killer. Any help will be appreciated .. thanx again for all the input. If there are any other phones out there please post. (worthy of posting)

You could always wait it out for the samsung hercules, nexus prime and htc ruby to show up. As far as i know they should all be hitting the market fairly soon. Just a suggestion

I just replaced my wifes MTS (Warranty) with a MTS in red, she loves the phone with CM7 on it and she likes the keyboard all in total I have replaced the 2 mytouch slides 5 times through t-mobile due to hardware failure (Camera, Front buttons, and keyboard issues)
I however just ordered a G2x and it should be here today, I'm not going anywhere though, I have always liked the MTS though it has not been a reliable phone CM7 Makes it so much better. One of the reasons I got a G2x is it has Vanilla android so I will get updates faster (More likely than phones with Sense)

As a fellow G2x member, I say welcome! However to the updates, I'd have to say... Nope. We don't quite have Vanilla android... We waited a few months for Gingerbread and when we got it, it was "half-baked" and still not exactly Vanilla.
But the phone is a beast. Do enjoy it, cause I know I do.
And there's always rooting and roms.

I am thinking about switching teams to the Epic from the EVO. I love the development on the EVO, Cyanogen is just amazing. It's so lite and fast I love it.
The Epic calls because of features like S-AMOLED, physical keyboard!!!!, similar size, 45nm hummingbird and better battery life have me itching for this phone. The only think that would keep me in the EVO camp is that there is an uncertain path for development.
I have heard that in the past Samsung did not release open source drivers for their phones, but that in the case of the Galaxy S the drivers are out there(at least the international version)
What do people think? Will we see development for this phone? Cyanogen? What would you do?
I wouldn't mind the epic once it was able to be rooted and get that horrible launcher the heck off there.
I actually don't like physical keyboard...feels too much like a prepaid texter phone I guess =x just a matter of taste.
I'm absolutely satisfied with the EVO even if I do wish I could change several things about it. For me, I wouldn't change because I would have to pay full price, if I had an upgrade then maybe. I would possibly change to a phone that would get Android updates faster because as we know with the Hero/2.1 debacle, Sense UI makes things rough and even when the hero did get 2.1 ...it was a dumbed down version. I seriously hope our EVOs get better treatment.
Ultimately, I guess you have to maybe play with one and see how it feels to you.
One word...Samsung. Maybe Samsung will finally redeem themselves to me with this phone, but they have always given their phones poor support after release and in general been really crappy for hardcore enthusiasts. If this phone develops a large user development crowd, you will be safer. Either way your going to have monster hardware, what will the community and the support after the sale be like?
Have you tried swype? If not try it first and give it a few weeks to get used to it.
After using it I feel it makes physical keyboards obsolete.

Get a second battery,u should get about 8 hours from each at the least. i get at least 10 hours. 1500mhz batteries just arent enough for a 4.3 inch android phone.blame htc for givin us this battery dont blame the phone plz. right now im on 7 hours and 40 minutes with 50% battery left

The Droid X apparently has much better battery life than the Evo, and it has a 4.3 display. Then again, that might be due to its 45nm processor vs the 65nm found on the Evo.

The things I wouldn't want to give up on the Evo are:
The extra .3" of screen size -- it doesn't sound like much, but when you see the two side by side, the Evo screen isn't a little bigger, it's just flat out bigger.
I like Sense, and the home screen and app screen layouts are more my style.
The GPS on the Galaxy phones are reportedly poor. They lock on fewer satellites than the Evo does and are slow to do so.
I had a slider on the TP2, and I rarely used it. The keyboard on the 4.3" screen makes a physical keyboard only helpful in specific situations, and even RDP is fully functional and usable even without a physical keyboard. So I'd rather not have it and save on the bulk.
I also have zero interest in 3d gaming on the phone, so the 3d capabilities of the Hummingbird hold little interest for me. YMMV.

It really is up to you. Both are great phones. Personally I would go with the Evo. I wouldn't mind having the Samsung either though.
AFAIK all the Galaxy phones have been rooted no? Rooting the Epic shouldn't be much harder. Since the Evo has had such good development and a little experience with WiMax, should be easy to port over that development.
I am mulling over the same decision right now...
The big drawback for me is the display on the Epic... while it is true it is S-AMOLED and should provide more vibrant colors and such, the display itself is subject to burn in (not as much as AMOLED but still there) and the tech they use in the display makes it like half the effective resolution of what it really is... I can't remember the name of it right now... Its somewhere on the forums. I have seen a Galaxy S screen next to my Evo and its vibrant and bright but my Evo (Epson panel) is easier to see outdoors and text is much crisper on it.
Second, its a Samsung. I have never liked a single Samsung product I've tried from their TVs to their cell phones. While I would like to have a physical keyboard, the lack of support Samsung gives to their products sucks.
Third, yes the hummingbird and SGX540 absolutely spank everything else on the market right now... but dual-core snapdragons are coming and so is Tegra2. I would rather wait and see what happens than just jump from a phone that's working perfectly fine to another one with better specs... Only to kick myself in the balls come Christmas time.
Lastly, Sprint chopped the 16GB of storage to 2GB in their version which kills a main selling point for me. Internal storage tends to be much faster than a microSD card of ANY size.
The cyanogenmod will never be on the Galaxy S.
The Galaxy S will never be as snappy as the Evo.

When did Cyanogen say he won't release for the Galaxy S? Its a HUGE market base for Android since EVERY carrier will have a variant...
EDIT: Looking at the various Galaxy forums it looks like a community FroYo isn't going to be easy since the hardware info won't even boot in the emulator... Guess you're right.
But one more reason to get the Epic - it supports a crap ton of codecs out of the box and won't require most video files to be converted unlike the Evo.
Samsung is notorious for not supporting their devices after launch. Just look at Behold II users, Samsung promised 2.0/2.1 on video, then later pulled the video to remove any evidence of them saying that.
It's a great phone, just don't expect it to be supported down the road.
Kinda pointless post but was bored at work so thought I'd share my views for anyone else who's on the fence about getting it:
I was waiting for CES announcements to see what was coming out in the future but changed my mind and decided to jump in and get a Nexus S. I was coming from an old WinMo phone that I've had for ages (having been a poor student), which probably isn't the best base to be commenting on this but I'm used to android as I've been deving on my housemates HTC Desire HD.
I'm so glad I did, I won't lie and say the phone is perfect as no phone is. It is, however, a true pleasure to use and looks gorgeous (especially compared to WinMo).
I mostly just wanted to put a nice positive post on the forums because there's allot of people moaning about one thing or another to-do with the phone and as with anything people only tend to post when they have a problem or issue. Especially regarding the specs being current gen and not next gen; and therefore a lack of longevity. It's easy to forget that being a "Google" phone means that regardless of hardware it will be around for a while, and will still be enjoyable and exciting to use during that time thanks to the ongoing updates.
The device feels solid and premium, even the plastic backing, and I prefer it in the hand and visually to my house mates Desire HD (which is also a great phone). Battery life is better than most equivalent devices. Sound is crisp and clear. Reception on the same network has been better that the HD. Everything has worked perfectly. The screen is beautiful, especially if you like darker backgrounds.
My only disappointment is the lack of gorilla-glass, but that's not a biggy for me.
The phone wasn't meant to be bleeding edge. It was meant to work, and work well. It does, and to quote Mr. D's "I'm loving it".
Thumbs up Google and Samsung.
Even though people are going crazy over the dual-core phone announcements at CES, but none of those phones won't be available in months and they still will launch with Froyo.
The Nexus S still uses the most powerful harware available at the moment but the feature that it's really marketed for is the fact that it will be running vanilla Anroid and will get update priority.
I have this phone and I can easily say it's one of the best android phone the market. Here in the UK there is no 4G so all this no HSPA+ stuff doesnt really affect me.

I understand and agree with wanting the Nexus S for the timely and clean updates, but I've always called people out when they play the "I don't need it" card when specs are compared. There are many things on phones we don't "need," but that doesn't abate people's disappointments. Granted, it goes both ways; people will find anything to complain about (like if it had 720p recording, some would say it should have 1080).
Everyone is different, everyone has opinions, and everyone can voice them at an open forum.
I love the clean black look of the Nexus S. No emblems, no harware, and no icons.

Amen. The SAMSUNG on my i9000 and the T-Mobile & Samsung on the Vibrant are just butt ugly compared next to the totally unmarked NS.
Still, that ugly Verizon logo on the new Samsung LTE phone won't keep me from buying it!

Agreed! My first 'real' smartphone too (my Nokia E63 could be classed as a smartphone, albeit not a very good one, suited me at the time though) and I absolutely love it! I have finally jumped on the Android wagon (lack of money prevented me before ) and I am not looking back!

Same with Australia. We have WiMAX but only in Perth and a couple of other places (not in my area though) but it doesn't support phones. So everything is perfect for me! Sure there are other features that would have been nice to have, but I would never had really used them, so overall it doesn't detract from the experience.

Seriously, I love this thing.
I think I'm one of the few when I say that I like the build. It looks very good, all black. Plastic makes it lighter, and it's firmer. Only con is that plastic is slippery, and of course fingerprints. The Contour Display, although subtile, makes it very appealing, as does the chin on the back.
Especially with Super AMOLED and it's deep blacks, the phone is awesome. I really like the notification bar fading into the phone itself, and that the buttons are not visible when the phone is turned off. We will get the Nexus S with Super Clear LCD here, which will be nice for lighter interfaces and for browsing the web, but I am a little bit jealous on the Americans and the Britons. With Super AMOLED a dark background looks much better, and in combination with the black finish of the phone, it's beautiful.
The Nexus S is my 4th android phone & I love it. I started with a T-Mobile Pulse (I really liked that phone, coming from a Nokia n97!), then the HTC Hero, HTC Desire & finally the Nexus S.
I thought the screen was good on my Desire (when I'm not outside lol), but the 4 inch NS screen is just amazing. I had to get used to a few things though...
1) No notification light (noled app is a good solution, but obviously uses a little bit of battery as the screen is on).
2) lack of trackball (this is just personal as I used the trackball a lot for moving the curser when typing).
3) the phone is really light & a bit slippery (i love the handsets design, but I'll get a case once I find one I like).
4) no sense ui (not for the Widgets, I jus prefer the dialler, gallery & SMS apps over the stock android ones).
Overall, the points I mentioned have not stopped me loving this phone. They are just things I became accustomed to from my previous android phones. I also miss the excellent Facebook integration from sense ui (birthdays in my calendar for example).
Having said all that, I still wouldn't swap my Nexus S for any other phone on the market today. I'm a big fan of complete customisation & I haven't even mentioned the ease of getting full root (anyone tried to get 'S-OFF' on a Desire lol) or the fact I have gingerbread out of the box! Finally, any phone with a screen bigger than 4 inches is just too uncomfortable for me.

I came to the Nexus S from the Evo, and I have to say that I like it more in almost every way. I do, however, have one legitimate complaint, and that is that the wifi connections are very weak.
I just switched over to the NS4G from the Epic 4G today and after playing with this for a solid 8hrs now.
NO REGRETS.. It's fast right out of the box.. I almost didn't even bother rooting it I was so impressed.. Then I did root, flashed mikeyinid's v.5 ROM and WOW. It just got faster...
Amazing phone.. I will never.. Ever.. Go back to a non-Google phone again.. Yeah, it's plastic on the back, but it feels solid.. Not wobbly and cheap like my Epic felt. Swore Tyco made that thing.
I love my Nexus S too, its my first Droid phone, although my girlfriend had the mytouch. I learned how awesome droids are from rooting and installing a custom ROM on. I had jailbroken iPhones and iPod for my self and friends in the past but the freedom of the Droid was what made me want one. I was going to get the mytouch 4g but after I saw the nexus s at best buy, I knew I had to get it, the screen is by far the best looking, and its just sexy. I have had for two months and I love it. James Bond Sabi Dee UV kernal is so smooth, running cm7.

I may as well plugin my thoughts too. I just passed down my Nexus One to my girlfriend and got the Nexus S. I'm quite happy with it!
Things I like about it versus the N1...
- 4" is my new favorite size
- The haptic feedback feels better
- Light weight
- SCLCD makes texts easier on the eyes
- It feels faster overall... smooth scrolling in stock launcher!
- Camera mic picks up much better audio when recording
- Battery feels like it lasts longer after heavy use!
Things I don't like about it versus the N1...
- It's plastic and I'm very hesitant when putting it in my pocket - need to find a case soon
- Display colors don't seem as vibrant, but definitely clear and great color reproduction... just not excellent (again, I'm using the SCLCD version not AMOLED)
Summary: No regrets switching my N1 for NS! The size, speed and battery life made me one very happy owner!

How would you rate the battery on the Nexus S compared to the Desire?
Ahh while we are praising our NS's, I want to say something about how I felt when I first got my phone. Ordered it beginning of April from negri-electronics and was a bit skeptical at first, but after being brainwashed by the ads online and playing with the NS that was on display at Best Buy, I couldn't wait any further.
The day came and I had been creeping on the tracking status every 2 minutes to check the location of the package. I had gotten it expedited so I'd get it as fast as possible, yet the shipping day felt like the longest day ever when I was sitting and waiting outside my house with 3 cups of coffee, my laptop, and season 6 of The Office. After waiting for about 283828833 hours (in reality 3 hours) my package came! Felt like christmas when I opened that box, popped in my sim, and watched that sexy Nexus Bootscreen in awe much like my first time last year.
My cellphone journey was weird.
I started out with a small nokia phone that lasted me quite a long time. Then I 2 christmases ago I got a blackberry. My mother had picked up the N1 at that time and I loved it so much I traded her my blackberry (after countless times of persauding the blackberry was faster and such.. ) From then on my love for the Google Phone spread like wildfire.
And now I'm with SNS. Not Samsung Nexus S, my Sexy Nexus S.

Hi all,
Well it's been a good few months that you guys over in the States have had your hands on the Atrix.
The release is apparently 'imminent' here in the UK, so hopefully this thread and your feedback will help us decide whether it's worth pulling the trigger or not .
Whilst we are fortunate enough to be expecting either one or both of the HTC Sensation and the GSM EVO 3D by July, they are both 4.3" devices, and the Atrix - at the moment - still remains the only dual core device that we'll be getting here in the UK .
So, honest opinions, if you had your chance again now, would you go for the Atrix? Or hold out for something else?
Voting appreciated.
Pros/Cons would be ideal.
really loving mine. I have had two blackberries, 8330 and 9650 bold with os 6.0, all iPhone versions and numerous other stuff.
I love the Atrix for the 4" screen... the new 4.3" ers are too large for my hand.so 4" is the perfect screen size compromise in my opinion
the software is exteremely fast...
so yes, Im really loving mine to be honest.

However, talk of everything being locked down is disappointing. Having run a HTC Legend, I'm lucky that we've had some dev backing, which has enabled me to run CM7 and a few other ROMs. Without this kind of dev work/support, I'd still be on FroYo at best...
The Atrix really, really, seems to be lacking on the dev front - it seems to put so many people off, and more significantly, the developers

I'm very pleased with mine. the best phone I have ever owned and I have been through them all. The bootloader is a bit of a bummer, but I know they will crack it it soon.

I really like the Atrix and have owned one from its release date. Very fast and has many useful applications right out of the box. The virtual keyboard is much better than other Android phones I've owned, though I must admit that I do still prefer a physical keyboard. I have owned the G1 and Nexus One and like this phone much more than those.
There is only these "regrets". I wish the boot loader and software was easier to circumvent for custom rom installation. And I wish CyanogenMod had a ROM available for it. He does such great work.
I'm going to try to be patient and wait for the Motorola released version of Gingerbread, but I might try Gingerblur if it takes too much time to get an official release.
Very fast, great handset functionality, nice keyboard, great size, and the screen is beautiful. No regrets buying one with the exception noted above.

I love my Atrix. It's the first Android phone I've had. The iPhone 3GS was a perfect fit in my hand, and the Atrix feels exactly the same, albeit the buttons are in different places. I prefer my Atrix over the iPhone, and have found that even with it being locked down, the opportunities for customization are still way above the iPhone.
Is the Atrix fast?............Yes...............How does it compare to other Droid phones?..............I can't answer that one.

The screen is bad. PenTile matrix is more visible on Atrix than on Amoled PenTiles despite higher resolution. Small text is blurry with visible pixels. Blue/green colored icons etc has very visible pixels. Blacks are grey and the screen suffers from banding / not showing true color. Scrolling in menus with small text results in flickering and inability to read the text. Moving the phone, like giving it a short twist makes pixel-patterns temporarily occur in bright areas.
The power-button is among the worst buttons ever put on a mobile phone. It has no feel, almost no travel and is placed in a 45 degree angle which makes it even harder to press.
Pinch zoom in the browser and photo gallery is extremely(!) choppy, much worse than many single core phones.
The camera is not good with tons of noise. The front facing camera is almost a joke as it produces cartoon-like pictures.
Other annoying thing is that it isn't possible to turn of the vibration of the google-buttons.
I have no idea what the he'll you're talking about. Because the fact that the 3.5 mm jack is on the right hand side, they couldn't have put it there. The lock button is also a biometric sensor, which saves me alot of time. It's not awkwardly placed once you think about it. Because it's a 4'' phone, the form factor is rather large. Not having to stretch my finger joints out to the very top seems like a bit of an advantage, no?

And most if the lagging issues are w/ Motoblur. Get rid of it, and problem solved. The camera is a bit weak, but i'm not here to complain. I prefer a standalone camera anyway.
Overall, an exceptional phone that's a bit rough around the edges, but that'll sort itself out soon enough. Either from Moto, or third-party.

Hell, i'll take a second one. Never hurts to have a backup. If you want an awkward lock button, try the Galaxy S. That stupid thing is on the side. Whenever I use my friend's, I always end up locking the thing by accident or nearly ripping a hole in his USB port cover...

Ya, the Sensation has some nice eye candy and naturally evolved features built in that currently require 3rd party apps on the N1, but it just didn't have that "Wow" factor for me.
Makes me proud to have a Sexy Nexy. It may be rare (I've yet to see another), a few years old and not as big as some of the others, but she's still got life, my friends!
The encouraging part for me, is the fact, I've yet to have the balls too root. So there's still a lot to look forward too for me.
You know what I'm gonna miss most about the Sensation? IT'S GOT TEETER!!haha, I'm serious. I love that little game.
wow if you returned to the n1, and on top of that you have not even rooted your n1, then wait till you actually root this thing! it becomes an entirely new device with a good ROM on it.

I just sold my MT4G after getting it to replace my semi-broken N1. Back to using the N1
I sold it because I wanted to get the Sensation, but now I'm not so sure after reading this thread and others in the MT4G and Sensation forums.
What to do? I cant rotate my screen or use camera with my broken proximity sensor, camera and led. so i am hurting and would like a new phone.
What would you guys do?
I tried replacing my N1 a few times before (MT4G, G2x) but they didn't quite cut it. The Mt4G just wasn't... better enough. I went through multiple G2x and none of them worked right.
I grabbed the Sensation and I am entirely happy with it. No issues so far after 2 weeks, and it does everything my N1 could do and more. Minus rooted things, which I do really miss. If I could just get SetCPU on the Sensation like my N1 I'm sure I'd have amazing battery life.
I had the Sensation for about a week, but just returned it today. Each device had one minor issue, which was just enough for me to go back to the Nexus. The performance increase wasn't really there, either, though I'm sure once they have root that'll be fixed.
I was on the Atrix but now I'm back to the Nexus One. I love this phone and the trackball. Nothing else seems to cut it. It's like a bad drug habit. Can't seem to let it go. Lol

No, no external contacts, but it does automatically go into a dock mode in the car dock, from what I've heard. People have said it responds to magnets, but I haven't experienced it personally. I haven't picked up a car dock yet cause I really can't find a good place in my car to put it. Same issue I had with my N1's dock, lol.

I have a G2x and love it. Running CM7.1 RC1 which was basically the same as what I was running on the Nexus One. The G2x does have some software bugs but CM7 fixed most of those.
Would I go back? Tough choice. I LOVED my N1. If I lost or killed my G2x and someone gave me a N1, I would use it without question and it would probably subdue me for a while.
The G2x is a pretty good upgrade from the N1. Tegra games are amazing and the touchscreen recognizes 10 inputs.
The trackball is missed when correcting typing but CM has a kernel based hack to light up our touch buttons for notifications.
I can see, using CM7 on N1 to CM7 on G2x, that the upgrade may seem dismal. I do, however, use the HDMI out and bluetooth gamepad for gaming.
If gaming isn't your thing then the Nexus One is still perfect.
Everyone who is returning the Sensation seems to not be giving any real tangible reasons for doing so. The OP lists not getting "wow'ed", but obviously that will always be subjective from person to person. downey_ryan had three devices each with a "minor issue" but won't list what they were.
For those of you downing on the Sensation, I challenge you to find some tangible reasons why the N1 is better than the Sensation. I'm not saying none exist; I just want to discuss them, rather than a "I hate the Sensation but won't say why" thread.
Anyway, a week and a half ago I sold my N1 and picked up a Sensation from Amazon. And you can tell by my signature, that this was NOT an easy decision! I've been a member of the XDA N1 community for quite some time
All throughout this time I have been absolutely dying for a larger screened phone (the Sensation is T-Mobile's first 4.3" Android), and the jump from 3.7" to 4.3" is already a HUGE enough reason for me to make the switch.
With the N1 having a larger bezel due to the trackball and HTC really minimizing the bezel on the Sensation, the total difference in pocketable device size is minimal. And compared to the benefit of such a larger screen, it is amazing. I can actually read a lot of text comfortably, and certain apps display a lot more content at once due to the qHD screen.
And this is not to mention the Sensation is even thinner than the N1 anyway. It's so thin and light that my coworker held it and said "You should put a case on it to protect it", and I already have a case on it (This one if anyone's interested.)
As I said, the screen size (and thinness, and lightness) is already a big enough reason but the lack of a trackball is actually quite nice. I thought I would miss it more, but the lack of a trackball makes the phone look sleeker, and makes it easier to put a screen protector on it to protect the entire face of the phone, buttons and all. Selecting text without a trackball is a bit more difficult, but the combination of Gingerbread's text selection tool and the qHD screen make it a non-issue. (And trackballs are a thing of the past anyway. Not a single new Android phone coming out has one, so it's best to used get used to not having one anyway.)
I admittedly missed trackball LED notifications for a few days. But then installed NoLED and instantly forgot all about them. It's much better because it displays notifications using the entire screen, which is more noticeable from far away (can configure to turn off via proximity sensor when in pockets etc to save battery), as well as repeated vibration/audio reminders (extremely helpful). If I had to switch back to the N1, I'd still use NoLED in a heartbeat.
Another huge issue is fixed as well, and that is that I can finally use multitouch everywhere without having the axes get flipped and sticking. And not to mention I can finally play all the games I couldn't play on my N1 with the much-increased processing power.
Sense 3.0 is very beautiful. Every person I've shown my phone to is instantly in awe in the first 5 seconds in just unlocking the screen, with the bouncing circle unlock and the carousel homescreen animations. I've had no issues at all so far with Sense, and I'm loving the Sense widgets, namely the photo album widget. I purchased LauncherPro Plus a long time ago, but I actually like Sense better so I have not yet had the need to use LP+ even though I paid money for it.
Speaking of paying, I sold my N1 for $200 (after the buyer's downward haggling) on Craigslist and bought the Sensation on wireless.amazon.com for $179, no tax, free shipping. So the cost was a no-brainer -- I actually made money
I would encourage everyone to make the switch. You would be surprised how fast the N1 sells on Craigslist. I literally posted in the morning, found a buyer hours later, and sold it right after work the same day. It's still a great device, and I probably could have gotten more for it (the buyer haggled down), but since I already profited from the switch and it sold so ridiculously fast, I didn't care too much.
Anyway, all in all, I am extremely satisfied with my upgrade. When the Hercules is finally announced (if ever!), I'll check into it , but for now I love my Sensation and the N1 before it. The funny thing is that I had a G1 before that. All three are HTC devices, so I guess no matter what device you pick, HTC has been good to me

1.5 years old and still keeping up with the big boys.
It'll be a while before anything really impresses us again. The fact is, the Nexus One was a well-thought-out device and includes most all of the features one needs in a very practical and elegant package. I don't want a bigger phone or another cpu core. 4G would have been enticing if the carriers didn't start capping the data plans and NFC will hopefully become accepted and I can quit carrying a wallet around, but until then I'm in love with this device.
One last thing, even with everything Google & HTC put into this phone, it wouldn't be half as great without the wonderful support from the community. Thanks guys!
I love my N1. I have a Defy, and a Desire HD also, but keep going back to the N1. Just the overall use, feel, and sexyness of it makes me want to use it. Plus it has the best call quality I have ever used. I like the Sensation's look/features. Reminds me of a bigger brother to the N1, but I just can't pull the trigger. My N1 does everything I need it to do, and I'm sure it can do a lot more, so no reason to stop using it. If anyone is looking for a new one here are some places to get one. All are T-Mo bands. The ebay ones are cheaper by a lot, but welectronics is a safe reliable place to buy. All are new in box. I bought an extra just to have. For $260 it's cheaper than my original insurance with $150 deductible and $10 a month payments over the life of the phone.

This phone was awesome, I still have it laying around next to my computer, with WarmTwoPointThree, but this Rezound is such a perfect thing to upgrade to. Yeah, everyone here has been really helpful. But I'm starting to see other forums here develop similarly as their phones are rooted.
I was lucky that by the time I rooted my AMOLED DInc (a year after getting it), there was already a strong community here to help me through.
But perhaps the most important lesson I learned is that, while HTC hardware is nice, I don't really like Sense (especially now that I've been running CM7 for a year now). If HTC introduces an HD phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset, I'll be all over it. If it's a different vendor, then they will get my money. You see, now that I see how easy it is to customize a phone after it's gotten rooted, I really don't care too much about who made it.
And if I don't like any of the phones announced at MWC, I'll probably pick up an LG Spectrum and see what I can do with it...

i think im going to keep this phone till it dies. its the perfect size. i get great battery life and will all the development that has gone into it. It might not be supported but the great devs out there but it still lives on.
I'm so glad I went with the Incredible (although late). The only gripe is I use the 3500 extended battery and wished I didn't have to, as it does give it a bulky look.
But like they say, it's what's on the inside that counts right?
I notice I have been keeping tabs on the so-called HTC Edge/Endeavor that is supposed to be revealed next month.
Definitely a great community for help, and also some of the best dev's are here. I bought a Fascinate (for a semi-upgrade), and the community is lacking there. Sadly, I think I'll be parting the Incredible, for an upgrade to GN or Rezound.

A 4" screen is the most ideal IMO. I have no qualms with watching movies on the 3.7", but as I matured with the phone I guess I should step up in size as my video viewing has increased immensely.
A 4.7-ish" screen sounds scary but I'm sure I can adapt.
I finally went to see the nexus at my local Verizon last night and wow...compared to the inc screen, it is kinda big. I do want to get it for ICS, 4G, font facing camera, etc. but I don't really need a screen that big (that's how I feel), I guess I’m going to wait a bit longer to see what's coming out in the next few months. Plus, I hate the fact that after being a vz customer for a long time, the phone upgrade price is higher than a new customer price. (I saw new customer price on amazon.com for $99), why don't they have incentives for users to stay with the same company.
Also, I wish there was a doc or something listing the devs/themes/testers/etc. of the inc and where they are now in terms of dev/themes/etc, which phones they have moved on to....sometimes it would make switching a bit easier.

I finally went to see the nexus at my local Verizon last night and wow...compared to the inc screen, it is kinda big. Exactly the same way I feel about the GN. The screen is too big, I wish it was like 4.3". That's my limiting point. 4.0" would be ideal, and add that with 720p resolution, that would be a dream come true. You have a high PPI, not to mention, smaller screen = lower battery consumption (compared to a bigger screen). I'm due for an upgrade next week, and I'm leaning towards the Rezound. I just wish that phone was thinner!

The GN is really only a 4.3" viewable area. Its just that they have on screen buttons that take up that extra .35" but yeah it goes seem huge. Rezound feels nice, so does the Razr. MAXX. And the battery on that thing is 3300mah!!!!!! Holy Cow!

I miss the incredible community. I upgraded to the rezound, and though there are many familiar faces from here, it is not the same. Newtoroot, Nils,and Bored are all there with new Roms, but some of the other members are alot more rude, and hostile than here. I was just cruising through memory lane. This post got my attention, and just wanted to say you are right on the money. This forum is a great place, and I wish we could all upgrade to the same phone at the same time. Peace.....

I was able to pick up my dream phone (Weird how much we value these things now, isn't it?) August of last year after 4 months of research and another 4 of hunting one down. I found mine minty fresh used amOLED for $150 outright and never looked back.
1900mAh battery in stock back casing, Seidio Active Case, and Steinheil Ultra Clear screen protector.
So what does that give me? A small, quick phone with battery life up to 3 days, internet, maps (my favorite), and friends just a click away. There isn't a device made today that can touch us, which is why our Devs have gone so far.

If it weren't for the Incredible, I wouldn't be set on an AMOLED screen for my next device. It is astounding how amazing it still looks even next to some of the latest devices!
I don't care what anyone says, I'm hoping to dive into a Nokia Windows phone next. Specifically, if some of the kinks are worked out and a couple more functions are added by the time June comes around, you better believe I'll be hitting tiles and text and shooting with a Carl Zeiss lens! UberMusic on my Dinc is just making the desire even more intense.

WP7 does look fairly cool and the features aren't much different from Android. You wouldn't lose much in regards to functions which is great. I have UberMusic as well and love the WP7 theme for it.

^ This. I've had my upgrade available for a while. The newer phones generally get worse battery life vs dINC with mods- and I'm also not a big fan of the super large screens. I easily lasted the day with stock, but I put on the 2150 just to make sure I never had to worry, so while my buddies with the samsung galaxy nexus and moto razr go to plug theirs in at work I'm not even worried.
There's huge amounts of development here, people are awesome (unlike some forums I've visited ), and there's nothing on my phone that I feel needs an upgrade. 3G speeds can stream HD youtube, web surf and stream internet radio flawless so I'm all set until this baby dies or there's some god-like phone that comes out.
This has been a great community, I like many others have moved on to other phones. It is still a great back up phone so it is nice to pop back in here to keep up to date on new mod and roms.
