Yesterday, vodafone (in Germany) asked me to update my android to a newer build. Since then I can no longer use tethering. I tried in on two computers with which it worked before, so I know its not the computer.
the new version is:
firmware version 2.1 update 1
build number:
1.25.162.1 CL229476 release-keys
Is there anything I can do? would a factory reset help me? Is there an app that I can load to get tethering back?
Thanks in advance!
UV
You will have to re-root your phone. Updating the firmware removes root
Did i get this right?
Re-rooting my phone means doing a hard reset?
what does it mean "it removes root" I am more of a newbie than I thought.
thanks!
To get the wifi tether to work you must've first used unrevoked tool to root the phone to get superuser permission and then installed wifi tether. You need to use it again after the update to 're-root'. You do not need a hard reset
Hello, today I got my Amazon Kindle Fire! After starting an connecting to my Wifi network, I made an update, wich was available! But after installing the update I can´t find any Wifi-network! Also tried the factory reset, but didn´t work!

Try contacting tech support they might have something for you to flash. And if they do, you should post the files and process here. Unfortunately without solid kernel, or recovery information there's little we can do.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Hopefully, cause I don´t want send it back
After chatting with Amazon, the problem wasn´t solved! But I looked a bit more on the Amazon Homepage and found where I can download the Software Update to 6.1:
Download Link
And here is the instruction:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_k6_updatesi?nodeId=200790620
I will try it now and report what happends!
I think you already have that don't you?
When I got my KF, it immediately before I did anything updated to that version.
Code:
Current Version 6.1_user_2017120
Yes I have the one but I´ll try to run the update again manuelly, or do you think t wont work?
Masterc, didn't you say in another thread that you are in Austria?
You should mention that here if it is the case as it might affect the responses you get.
Yes thats true, but Wifi worked before I downloaded and installed the update! It also showed my name... the Amazon support told me it should work abroad..
I tried to install the update again, but it didn´t solve the problem.
So after playing around a while, the network pops up (yeahh) but when I enter the (right) passwort it always shows:
Error in conncection
unable to connect to selected access point. Please check the password you have provided
the kindle found my hotspot from my galaxy note (without password) and it connected just one time for arround 10 seconds..
Now I can´t connect again... quite intressting
Hopefully it is not the hardware - but I don´t think so otherwise I couldn´t download the update.
The updates are rolling out now for UK and WE tablets..

Where is the zip file?
I can't see the right one....
Edit: OMFG....i was too excited to see it.

How to update ?
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPa...y-install-updates-and-fix-stucked/td-p/579867
The us release is expected for 8 June 2012
I've lost my 3G connection after updating. It still shows signal strength etc but has no internet connection. I'm using an O2 Germany SIM card
There are some other people with the same problem at android-hilfe.de, so be careful if you need 3G, there might be some more SIM cards that stop working
Does anybody have a stock nandroid backup of A310_02/0039_0089_WE?
I cannot install the update because the checksum is wrong on a lot of files (20% of them to be precise).
Alternatively, I think a nandroid backup of a working OTA 4.0.3 would also work.
Hi!
I've got the same problem after deleting chinese FelxT9. No OTA possible and so I'm searching also for an nandroid backup WE for 3.1 or 4.0.3

Here you have FlexT9chinese from my 0089_WE
I already made the update but CWM is gone and I cannot reinstall it.
You can also modify the update-script and remove the check for the missing files.

Android assert failed apply_patch_check ("/system/xbin/busybox)
I did factory reset but still the same error
The second problem now it cant connect to the router after the factory reset it keep saying obtaining ip number

If you have root and CWM-recovery installed you can remove the check for busybox and install the update via recovery-menu

Exactly the same as me and I've tried everything I can think of and come to the conclusion that 1. ICS isn't happening 2. The tablet is now broken.

It is not rooted and I could not root it now
OT: And the battery performance in 4.0.3 is still terrible.
The same problem to me!
To wifi connecting: you will be connected but you must change IP Settings to Static (not DHCP) and then manual entering IP etc.

Thanks it works for now
But it keep disconnecting and connecting from time to time
Any way it somehow works
But still can’t update it to ics
what about ROW?
Is there any info when this OTA update will be available also for rest of the world?
Can we say that this upgrade provided by Lenovo to ICS is not working well, regardless if the TPT's are root or not?
As anyone with non-rooted TPT made the official upgrade without problems?
Thanks
The real problem is Lenovo lacking willingness to supply us with a real factory image, so the tablet can be reflashed to absolute stock and reupdated.
It's like... your laptop breaking down because of software failure and then you can't even do a restore because you don't have the software. Only the patches provided by windows update.
Terrible move from Lenovo's side and I would consider taking it up with our consumer rights movement.

Hi,
I tried to post on this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1838391
but the forum didn't allow me as I didn't post 10 replies yet
Yesterday I've flashed my P6800 with the latest version: AROMA 2.55 27Dec2012 found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35953842&postcount=1817
before that, my tab was on android 3.2 .. and I was able to access 64-bit WEP WiFi with no problems at all !
But now, I can't ... It sees the AP with excellent signal, asks me for the password, tries to connect (The signal changes to poor/fair while trying to connect only !!!)... then it's says "Saved" and the signal is excellent again... without actually being connected ! and when I try to connect again, it does nothing at all !
I have to try to connect to another AP/router in order to make it try to actually connect again to my WEP WiFi !
I can't change the security encryption of my AP as I'm using four 3Com routers with WDS enabled and that feature only works with WEP
How did I flash my tab?
1. root
2. CWM
3. flash new rom (no wipe at all)
4. restart
5. wipe whatever required to be wiped
6. flash new rom again (allowing wiping again.. and restart)
There's an UI patch fix that I should do after finishing the initial setup wizard which requires connecting to the internet to sign into Google account
Thank you for your efforts
My baseband version: P6800XXKL2
I tried the factory reset and cache wipe now... didn't work !
I'm now back again to android 3.2 ... Kies doesn't allow me to update to ICS !
I'm downloading now XSG rom ... the baseband version is also different.. but I have to try !
anyone please, which rom would you suggest for P6800 XXKL2 ?
Thank you in advance ?
Daniel_hk sent me this:
Your baseband is too old. I uploaded a new one for you.

You may flash it with Odin or mobile odin. Put the file in the Phone part of Odin and flash.
Goodluck!

I had to upgrade to ICS official XSG manually... but having problems with WiFi being drops from time to time forcing me to turn it off and on to make it work each time !
I'll try this modem bin !
Now I'm using the official ICS firmware for XSG region... now I can access the WEP WiFi but I have to toggle the WiFi Off/On nearly every hour !
I tried your modem.bin file on that ICS firmware but still have to toggle hourly !

Could you tell us more on your phone. The version of firmware before, which root method you use, which stock version of firmware you install via odin, etc...
This might help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/general/guide-odin-to-stock-updating-rooting-t2926642
