my streak has been freezing and rebooting at least every 45 minutes, sonetimes it goes into bootloop for a while!
Anyone know any remedies?
It would be much appreciated
read THE WHOLE gingerstreak topic
I hope the moderator deletes this thread, it's all I can do to keep from just going bullistic on the the guy that posted. This is just blatent laziness. There are hundreds of posts on the Gingerstreak thread and countless times it has been made clear that the build, although usable is still unstable, if you made it past the 5th grade, and IF you read past the first 2 pages of the thread you would know that
...............
Ok, hopefully this gets this POS banned.
He doesn't even know how to pit something in quotes correctly. The last thing you should own is a smart phone.... why not look for a dumb phone and then you'll have a matched set
@Seanzy35, this is not the place to be talking to people like that. You got that response because the streakdroid thread is relatively new and would be fairly easy to find the answer you are looking for.
The streak section is not as active as some others I have used and this could be due to the users/devs being sensible and researching before posting questions.
Please use the search function before laying into someone next time.

I had those issues with Streakdroid 2.0, but I applied some of the fixes found in the main Gingerstreak thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1091236 and they helped.
The restarts eventually came back but it was due to some still unsorted hardware error in my case. I had the restart loop even after I returned everything to stock via the QDL tool.
I thought it was my SIM card that was bad, but the restart loop came back after I replaced it and now I've got another Streak coming to replace mine.

Hi everyone sorry to make a topic but I can't find the one that I think addressed this. I think the last build I used that had a consistently working ppp connection was a bangster cm6 but unfortunately I can't remember because I'm constantly trying out new ones. Right now I'm using FRG 83 and HyperDroid Sense 1.1. I also tried out others but I had the same problem. Is this a new kernel issue?
Sometimes I can switch to wap.voicestream instead of the epc APN but eventually that will cut out too.
Pls pls don't flame.

The issue isn't that you opened a new thread but where.
Thread moved to HD2 Android General Discussion forum.

So I'm just gunna sneak this in here cuz I expect really knowledgeable people to answer. I've been reading through a lot of build threads trying to find a good one that might not have this issue and I see people saying stuff like "wow! This build has only frozen up on me like three times! And I've only had to do two battery pulls for screen locks!" But, these are problems that were fixed in mid-September...and now internet doesn't work. I feel like a **** being critical of any of the work on this board...but it almost feels like one step forward two steps back. Am I crazy? And then some people are asking when wifi tethering will work...but it does work...wtf...I feel like a ****, I really do but what's going on?

There is a thread here. Its a problem with the new kernels.
Okay before I continue with my question I just need to point out the following. My phone is fixed, and for the most part through trial and error to this point I know what I am doing. For some reason with both superclean and blackhole dl09 roms I miss phone calls. It may also be a kernal. I was using a stupid fast kernal for dl09/dj05. My girlfriend tried to call several times and it never came through on my side though I could get some texts. Is this a problem I cause or something more wide spread? I really can't use a rom or kernal that makes it so that I can't get calls. Funny thing though some calls went through to my cell and others wouldn't. I had her call me as a test from a few feet away while my screen was off. My screen turned on like something was going to happen, but nothing. I'm running OTA dl09 if it matters. Right now everything is fine after I ODINed.
Did you read the sticky? I think not...
This may surprise you, but I have never noted any ROM here affecting call performance in any way, neither for myself nor for others in my brief tenure here. Your assertion that texts come through at all implies that your kernel matches your baseband. The only thing I can suggest is a timely *228 in the future, but we may never know what your actual issue was.
Fun anime quote of the month: "... bring Makoto's Bakoto to Captain Yamamoto."
From what I read you have to port over your Dj05 radio/modem over to your Dl09 rooted phone I had the same issues myself. My only problem is I use a MAC and we all know Odin does not work w/ Mac and I have no luck w/ Heimdal So I cant use any Roms at this point. I could be wrong and if I am please let me know. I would like to use the Superclean Rom.
Any reason this was posted in the Development section?
It belongs in General. Request a Mod move this thread.

Where in the sticky thread does it say anything about calls not coming through on a dl09 rom?

Tried it still didn't work. Guess I am going to be waiting until all roms are on DL09. As per the comment about this not being in the correct section I would think considering this has to do with dl09 roms (hence android development) it is correctly placed.
It's not the end of the world just a bit annoying. I'm sure it won't be much longer till it gets figured out.

Make sure you followed all instruction in the ROM version install process, especially concerning modems
When switching from ROM to ROM, make sure you do a full wipe, including Dalvik
After a new ROM install finishes loading, go through the *228 option 1, and then option 2. Just humor me here, I know what they do and why this doesn't seem necessary
If you are still having issues, run through the entire thread for the ROM and Kernel you are running before asking questions which may have already been addressed
If you still have issues with calling or texting, check with other people to make sure the issue isn't with your Girlfriends network configuration
If you're still having issues, call Verizon tech guys. Blow smoke up the a$$ of the first two ppl you speak with until they get the Tier 3 guy on the line. Make sure it's nothing on their end.
If the issues continue, post them here. At that point it may be something a dev can look into. Just post it in the right place.
Honestly not being an A-hole here, but the vaaaaaaaaaaast majority of the time, these are troubleshooting issues that can be easily resolved with these steps. This is a question for general, because it has nothing to do with development.

Thanks. It just prevents clutter with development.
All questions should be asked in General. The development forum is for the developers to post ROMs, kernels, etc.
Please don't discount me as some ignorant noob despite my fairly low profile account.
I actually used to have an HTC Touch Pro 2 and used to flash custom ROMs like it was my job but once I got an EVO I decided against it because I didn't really have any complaints with the stock system. Until now of course.
I accepted the OTA update over the air without really knowing what it was. So I decided to go online and research what was actually included in the update and after doing some XDA searching was quickly refreshed on the joys of flashing customs. In the painful irony of it all, I quickly realized that by accepting the update I had screwed myself into some custom flashing purgatory where I suffer from that "itch" for a new custom ROM that we all know.
Anyways, long story short, I was wondering if there was any type of sticky/thread that is continuously updated on the progress of a 2.3.3 exploit or maybe the progress of the unrevoked team so that when I search for that sense of hope multiple times a day I can simply check one location. I did some searching for such a thread but returned no results.
Thanks in advance and hats off to the devs for all that they do.
damn....that sux that you had no complaints until AFTER the OTA update. thats definitely a bad stroke of luck.
I would say, in the mean time, try out different home launchers to try to get the different feel for them (i.e. if it's the Sense launcher that's bugging you, change it up ) I like both LPP (LauncherPro Plus) and ADW...tho I prefer LPP
and to answer the main question: No...there isnt a sticky or thread discussing the progress of the root exploit.

hopefully the devs will get the exploit out soon so 1)we stop getting the threads demanding the exploit (im not saying this is one of them...just saying that there have been 1 too many of those threads as of late) 2) so that you can start experiencing that "itch" again
I personally will take the OTA and then reroot after the exploit is out so that I'll know how to help others
Progress won't be mentioned until the actual exploit is found, so there's no need to search for a progress report. Until the exploit is found, the progress would be "nothing yet"... so that's pointless to post. As soon as a root method is made, you won't have to search for it. Go to the Evo Q&A section and you'll see questions about it - you'll see discussion & celebration in the General section. You'll probably see the root method itself (unless it's Unrevoked) in the Development section. You won't have to go past the first page to know it's here.
That being said, there's no need for a sticky. And unless you're trying to build a root method yourself, no need to search.
People have to realize that these devs do this in their free time, for free. It bothers me that people that have never given these devs anything expect the new root method now. I'm not talking about you, but so many others come here whining about nobody telling them when it will be ready or about nobody rooting it yet, as if they're owed something. If I had the skills to find a root exploit, I would stop working on it because of these kids *****ing and moaning.
Again, I'm not talking about you... I'm just ranting.
I agree completely. I found it funny that you guys call these guys "trolls." It's perfect. On the PPCGeeks forums back when I was flashing for my HTC Diamond we just called them douchebags but I like trolls, it's clever.
I also wish I had the skills to discover the exploit. I would love to give back to the community. It's all a little over my head though. I'm just another guy reaping the benefits of those generous enough to provide a more enjoyable experience from our devices and liberation from the corporate *cough* horsesh;t.

The HTC Diamond is like 3 or 4 years old by now. These days that's an eternity. I tried using my old diamond for a week or so a couple of months ago, and while I still love the size and form factor, I can't stand the lag factor. The os of windows mobile doesn't bother me, but the lack of power sure does.

I wouldn't consider myself old school at all but I would say I have experience. I was flashing for about 2 or 3 years with a combination of the Diamond and TP2.
I'm not crediting myself with any kind of "elderly knowledge" if that's what your concerned about. Some newbs probably know more than me definitely with the Evo being a different OS altogether.
And yes, I loved the phone but the lag was unbearable.
Since the mods have seen fit to lock all three threads relating to Honeycomb 3.2's launch tomorrow, I'm starting somewhere else that we can discuss this important news.
Perhaps the mods might consider merging threads rather than locking them, in future (especially when there was only a 4 minute difference in start time on the first two threads -- there's every chance that when the second thread poster started typing his post, the other one didn't exist yet.)
To get folks up to speed, here are the locked threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188621
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188627
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188754
Important info from these:
* HC 3.2 will be out for the Transformer in at least some markets tomorrow
* According to ComputerWorld, writing to SD isn't possible in HC 3.2. Hopefully this is specific to the Xoom, as this is a feature I use VERY regularly, and I'll be furious if it is removed.
the mod still referenced the whole SEARCH BEFORE POSTING RULE...
</removed tacky non-productive, useless comment>
I am amazed at how well Asus is at getting updates out. Granted my only previous experience in Android was with Samsung (Captivate) which is awesome in the Dev world (XDA devs really do awesome stuff on the Cappy), but Samsung and updates (whether it's their fault or not) have not been a good experience... plus I don't think they even do OTAs.
Asus has my attention, I'll keep an eye on what they continue to offer.
That second point really concerns me and I hope it's a generalisation.
Right now, I have Titanium Backup backing up to /Removable/MicroSD/TitaniumBackup. I do this primarily to keep the backups safe in the event I have to NVFlash the device and lose the contents of /mnt/sdcard (this has happened to me already!)
i bet we will see custom 3.2 from some of the well knowns within hours of it dropping. In other words, by the time Im awake, 3.2 will be an CWM update
Asus and the Dev's here are doing GREAT!

As I said, there was four minutes between threads. There's every chance that the second poster checked and there was no thread, then he spent 4+ minutes typing his own post.
But either way, there's no reason to lock a thread (still leaving a separate, duplicate thread which everybody sees and reads, but then can't reply to), rather than simply merging the two threads.
And it seems even more baffling to lock two threads as dupes, link to the supposed original, and then lock that too without any reason why, leaving people with nowhere to discuss what's one of the most important pieces of Transformer news in weeks...
I REALLY hope that the second point there is not true. I would not be as closed minded to say that it is not possible.....we just have to unlock it to make it possible.

I'm going to hope that at least 1 lock was an accident. That could happen... It's not normal to see a mod lock a thread without throwing a link to the rules in there for backup... but still... frustrating...

Yeah, if the default firmware leaves us without write ability, this may be the point that finally pushes me to root my TF. I use this regularly, both to delete videos from my SD card when they've been watched (so I know what I've already watched), and to review raw files from my digital SLR, then delete the bad images to free up space. I also use the SD card as a way of transferring data between devices, because it's easier than faffing about with the network.
I am happy to see Asus doing these updates on such a regular basis. Since getting my second TF I have been increasing pleased with my purchase. Let's keep the momentum going.

Releasing lot of updates is one thing, all I want is fixes to some of issues we are having.
OK noob question here(only reason I ask is because Honeycomb and Tegra are completely different than any phone I have owned or do own). Will taking the OTA kill root on the Transformer? I probably won't accept it anyway and just wait for a flashable or nvflash 3.2 Rom. Anyway, thanks in advance folks.

Before people start *****ing about this being a "n00b" question, hear me out.
This forum absolutely SUCKS for learning how to actually do the things that are mentioned here all the time. I've been following this forum every since a I got a tf101 in December, and yet I STILL have yet to see one up-to-date and accurate description on how to root. The current 'how to root' post dates back to December.
I had a tf101 for nine months now and still haven't rooted simply because I've never seen an easy tutorial on how to do so.
Same thing for installing CWM, or for flashing a rom. I've always wanted to do so, and I really want to flash a JellyBean rom today, but I realized that every relevant post is either outdated or not helpful at all.
Please take this as constructive criticism and not as a n00b complaining or asking questions. XDA is a great place with great people, but every single "READ THIS FIRST" post or "BEGINNERS LOOK HER" thread is so convoluted and messy that it's impossible to glean any information from them. Most of them link to twenty other threads that are just as confusing.
I hope this makes sense. I guess I am now obliged to say: "sorry for the noob question"
Thanks,
wontstoptalking

Should explain it all.
A little tip to make it easier if your using the XDA app change it to 50 posts per page instead of 10 makes everything easier to take in.
Edit after you get root and recovery id recommend you install goo manager from the app store and install TWRP recovery because using touch trumps key presses on a tablet

Thanks. Sorry if my OP seems a little harsh or frustrated, but it IS frustrating when you ask a pretty simple question in a thread ("how do I root?") and you get people saying USE THE SEARCHBAR! Which gives you two types of threads: tons of threads telling you how to root in tons of different and potentially outdated ways, and then tons of threads ASKING about how to root (which only get redirected to the searchbar again).
I mean, there are just so many old threads and alternate ways to do things that it's nearly impossible to just figure it out on your own, even with the searchbar.
I've always enjoyed the "always up-to-date" Lifehacker posts, like "The Always Up-To-Date Guide to Jailbreaking"
http://lifehacker.com/5771943/the-a...jailbreaking-your-iphone-ipod-touch-and-ipad-[ios-511]
(link for reference)
Because currently the "READ THIS" posts are really outdated or not very helpful.
Anyway, thanks!
EDITED so as not to bump:
Ok, so I'm following the EasyFlasher instructions, and there are things I don't understand. What USB mode do I use for the transformer? Do I enable usb debugging? How do I install the APX drivers? I mean, you don't have to answer these, I'm just saying that a definitive guide that is always up to date and consistent would be nice. I'm sitting at the menu that says "flash" afraid to do anything because the thread says that ADB drivers are required, but even when I tried to manually install the drivers it wouldn't work. Do I need the SDK downloaded to do this? That's what one thread seems to indicate, but not the other. This is why XDA drives me crazy sometimes.
Not to jump into your thread too much, but you sound just like I did when I first showed up here wanting to root my tablet. I'd become pretty comfortable rooting my phone and previous tablet but this once had me stumped for a while. The one that worked for me (and made sense to me when when I used it) was viperMOD PrimeTime v4.6 | Auto Root/Unroot/Busybox/CMW Flash. In fact I just mentioned this to some other guy in a different thread. I couldn't get any of the others to work for me but this one did.
My tablet was just updated to ICS (from Asus) when I did it (if that matters).
Rooting is the hardest part in my opinion. Once you have root and a recovery installed flashing to another ROM, or even another recovery, is pretty easy - wipe your caches, select a zip file and reboot. Tada. Rinse and repeat when the 'new thing' comes out.
Rooting is something people usually only do once, then move on so it's generally not a topic people want to revisit, or maybe even remember doing in detail so don't be too put off by XDA's brisk attitude in the General Forums.

Thanks a ton for this. I'll look into it. I'm actually gonna try to sell my 101 first, nab a good $250 so I can get a Nexus 7. If I get no buyers, I'll go through with the rooting and flashing (I want to try selling first because if I brick it or something... then I'll have nothing to sell haha).
Again, I apologize if my OP was a bit of an angry, noobish rant... I know that XDA generally hates those. But I do think it is a real problem that it's hard to learn anything on this forum if you have 0 experience to begin with. So for those who helped me out, thanks very much.
I know that since the original ICS update, there were one or two other updates (trying to fix the rebooting problem, I think) and I'm wondering if your root solution will still work for these new updates. I guess you wouldn't know since it doesn't affect you anymore, so I'm just throwing this question out there.
