new baseband reduced 3G reception - XPERIA X8 General

Hi all,
Flashed the new (...015) baseband version to my e15a phone a few weeks ago (chose the correct 'a' baseband), and since then have not been able to get any 3G coverage in my home town which originally had almost perfect coverage, if I put my sim into other phones it will detect 3G, which leads me to believe the problem is my phone. Weird thing is, I still get decent 3g coverage in the city, and I can pick up the 3G signal on other networks in my home town, so I know my 3G signal hasn't been fried completely. I've tried restoring my phone to factory settings via PCC, re-installing the old baseband, and trying a new sim, all to no avail. Is it possible that i've partially fried the 3G receiving hardware in my phone?, or maybe vodafone (my network in Australia) runs on a different 3G frequency in my home town that this new baseband doesn't recognize? any other possible suggestions?

Problem with 3G Coverage in Sweden / Tele2

Hi,
is there anyone else that have problem with the 3G coverage in sweden? I'm using Tele2. Especial when the phone is "all clean" like after a rom update or hard reset.
On places i know there is 3G coverage it only says GSM, i have try the band settings and then i got 3G , BUT when it's out off 3G range i have no signal.
I tried my sim card in a Sony Ericsson, then i got full 3G coverage on the same spot. I got a new sim card, and no luck with that.
My friend had same problem with his phone, using Telenor. The strange thing is when we played around with the settings and left the phone on WCDMA a few days, then shift back to Auto in Network type it seems to work pretty good UNTIL i got the new rom. I tried the same metod and had no luck this time.
Anyone else that have experianced problem with 3G coverage in Sweden?
I experience the same problem with Telia. I had no problems before the last ROM-upgrade that came in april. Now the reception is very weak and the signal is just one dot in places there it was full before the upgrade. Please keep in touch if you find a solution.
I got the same problems and havnt done the new rom update yet, i think the 3g reception just was this bad and never thought about maby its the phone.. So if its someway to solve it id be very happy to know
As far as I know rom has nothing to do with it. Upgrade your radio
I think i found a solution that works.
I call a few people and found out this, go into Phone Settings, found the tab Network, put the "Network Selection" to Manual, press "Set Networks", wait a for a moment and when you got the list, move and check "Sweden 3G" (i got 2 of them) to the top of the list and after then put you provider below Sweden 3G, i got 6 Tele2 under and make sure that all are checked. So my list looks like this, (make sure that you have 3G on the spot you 're at when searching for networks)
Sweden 3G
Sweden 3G
24007
TELE2
TELE2
TELE2
TELE2
TELE2
After this i got 3G right away! And i have seen a gsm signal also when i lost the 3G.
Sweden 3G is a "network" that all 3G providers in sweden use. Then it up to your provider to put up more antennas for better coverage. So if you using Telia,Telenor,3,Tele2 etc you should use Sweden 3G.
It must be a problem with the "Auto search network" thing in HTC. The HTC Support lady told me that she got some calls about this thing, and not only for Touch HD.
I Tried with GoogleMaps on the way home from work, and it works perfect, and at last i got the speed of the map update thru 3G .. Realtime at Satellite View.
Tell me if it worked for you guys.

Tele2 and Telia(TeliaSonera) has their own 2G/GSM networks but share their 3G Network called Sweden 3G (SVENSKA UMTS NÄT) between themselfs.
Telenor inherited the old 2G/3G Network from (Europolitan later bought by) Vodafone who fled the Swedish scene years ago.
3 (Tre/Three) Has its own UMTS/3G network, but no own 2G network.
As you are a customer in this mixed Tele2/Telia network, you need a 64K SIM card. Speak to your customer service, and they will be able to help you.
I know that at least Telia is blocking less than 64k SIM cards in their 3G network.
Svedis
(Swedish)
I cahcked, and i got the 64k simcard already. Same problem, seems to be some problem with the phone. My friend uses telenor and got smiliar problem. I running on my solution that i wrote above and it works.

3G or HSDPA on Aria in South Africa

Howzit
I've noticed there are a few South Africans on this forum. Anyways I have an HTC Aria which I brought in USA on AT&T's network. When I got back home in SA my brother (who has a HTC Hero) helped my flash the phone, or root, or whatever its called. Bottom line is the phone is now unlocked and working on Vodacom network and its running Froyo 2.2 100% no problems with apps or anything.
The major problem I am having is network related. I can't seem to get 3G or HSDPA on my Aria. My brothers Hero get's HSDPA signal no problem, the only thing my phone displays is a "G" above the signal meter. I've got Vodacom settings and I can connect to the internet with my phone, but it's slow cause it's only GPRS.
If I go to settings and change Network Mode to WCDMA only, then I don't get any service at all.
Can anyone help out?
Regards!

On Tmobile UK, crappy 3G Signal?

Hey,
Ive been having problems with my data connection, which i only noticed because when i had a motorola defy right next to my DHD the Defy was getting a very healthy and usable HSPA signal wheras my DHD was struggling to get any data connectivity at all.
I put it down to a problem with the new radio i flashed, but before i flashed back to the old one I had a poke around.
Then i realised i had set my phone up to be able to take use of the Orange signal too.
That meant that network selection was on automatic.
So if the T-Mobile 2G signal was weaker than the Orange 2G signal the phone would register on oranges network, where there is (currently) no data connection.
Hence the problems.
Switching it back to T-Mobile only means i now have a solid and stable 3G signal.
In a nutshell;
If you are having data connectivity trouble and have signed up for the Orange signal share, try switching back to Tmob only.
good to know, will give it a go if i have any problems with data.

3g Signal problem

Hello all,
I just got my N4 couple of days back. I have this problem where when i connect to a 3g network the signal keeps fluctuating. As in it connects to the network for some 5 seconds i ll have full signal and after a couple of seconds there is no signal it shows emergency calls only. This keeps happening repeatedly. But in the 2g network everything is fine. I figured this is a radio ( i had .48 ) problem and flashed an older radio ( .33 ) still the same. i m looking for a solution 2g network is way too slow. This never happened in my nexus s :/
P.S : i dint have a micro sim, so i got the sim cut into a micro sim, is this the problem do i have to buy a micro sim itself ?

It's goes according to your carrier's cell coverage. If you're in area with low HSPA+ coverage then you will lose it and it will automatically switch to another frequency band. Big building can block cell coverage. Going underground or being in the basement will lower your data coverage. It has nothing to do with your sim card or your baseband.

I never had this problem with my nexus s, is it because nexus s doesnt have HSPA+ ?

Network issue after update,Cant detect specific networks after update.

I was using IDEA's network for months after buying this phone, and even though 4g was not available at my room the speed got by my 3g connection was fine, but suddenly (most probably an update) I lost my 3g coverage for which I thought the operators are responsible, but two days before I saw my friend who was using the same phone getting 3g coverage in my room. So I checked and found out only my phone (and my roommates' phone, note 4 ) couldn't detect the network. Is it a bug or any way to fix it??
