That's odd?? I got right on and registered ... wonder if they closed it again.

I wasn't able to register! Maybe they closed it again!

maybe it only for usa account?
i will try with my fake usa account
update : it turns out all my account have become indonesian..

im in the USA and was invited but still can't register. This sucks. Google is pissing he off

They closed it about 25 minutes after they opened invites back up.

It says I need an invitation. How does one acquire one of these?

It's not open at the moment. there was a rumour that some people could get in through the front door, no invite.
That seems to be down again. They are doing this very slowly. They need to test all angles. The worst thing would be a spam fest where the worst people would get in and turn G+ into a trash heap.
This is going to be a huge site. Facebook is going to lose big time and Google wants to do it right.

Thank you.
you know if you own a nexus one you automatically get a voice invite for free right? whatever account you set the phone up with, go to that account on a computer and log in to Google voice and create your phone number.
that and there is a thread full of members willing to pass out invites to other members

I have a Nexus One but when I go to http://www.google.com/voice and sign in with the account that the Nexus One was registered with, it just says "Google Voice: Coming soon". Am I missing something?
did you try clearing GV data and re signing in? or a wipe?
I never had a problem like this, so I'm just guessing

if you log into gmail via the web interface, there's a link at the bottom of the page that says
"last account activity ..." [ details ]
if you click on that, you can see all the IPs that has logged into your account. see if all those are your IPs. if not, there's nothing much you can do, but at least you know for sure if you got hacked, or someone you know is playing with your phone.
I recommend using Google's 2-step login system & authenticator app from now on. Its more secure then a password alone.

This made me laugh.
As for that 2 step verification deal, I find it to be too secure. Every time you switch roms you need to make a new verification code, and sometimes you won't be near an authorized device to do this. PITA if you ask me. Just my 2 cents.
Isn't that what the backups are for? And i mean that in many ways... titanium backup, the google backup codes, backup email, send-to-text backup... etc.

ALL THE PHONE NUMBERS of your contacts are now on Facebook! Go to the top right of the screen, click on ACCOUNT, click on EDIT FRIENDS, left side of screen and click CONTACTS. You will see all phone numbers that you have stored in your cell phone (FB friends or not) are published. TO REMOVE go to the right column, click on "this page." Pls repost so your friends can remove their numbers & prevent abuse if they don't want it public.
Didnt expect all the numbers of my family members to be posted on my page. Erased facebook from my phone, never installing again.

It says,
"Facebook Phonebook displays contacts you have imported from your phone, as well as your Facebook friends".
It seems as if you would have to manually import them for that to happen, weird.

Google Shipped me a previously opened box, should I send it back?

Hi,
I just got my Nexus 7 and upon opening the box, I noticed that someone had retaped the box over the old black tape, using the black tape.
So it has to have been someone at Google that opened the box and then resealed it.
I want to send it back. I'm the kind of person when purchasing new products, I don't like bait and switch products. I don't know if this was a Nexus 7 that was sent back in for repair or whatever the reason.
I don't seem to find any phone to contact Google to get an RMA to send the unit back for a refund.
I can't believe this happened. How could Google do this?
Thank you for any opinions or phone number to contact Google.

if there is nothing wrong with it hardware and software wise don't because you risk getting a faulty "new" model. if you do notice any problems, send it back

I wouldn't worry too much about it if it's defect free. It's practically impossible that someone could have bought it, received it, returned it, and Google reselling it in a span of a couple of days.
It probably had a last minute firmware update and they opened and reboxed it.

Wow was there really an option for that when pre-ordering it? I actually did the pre-order from my web browser on my Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch.
If that was the case, then would that be reflected in the order statement.
But don't you think that Google should have put some sticker on the box for why it was opened before! That would stop any confusion over this. Maybe customs opened it? I just want to know the reason and then I maybe if I am satisfied, I will open the box and enjoy it, until then, I won't open it.
Thanks for the info, I will check my order for that pre-setup as you mentioned.
Rob
UPDATE:
Here is what I found on the order page (they don't do this by opening the box)!
Linking your Nexus 7 to your Google account during purchasing
When purchasing a Nexus 7 from Google Play, you'll notice a 'Link this device to my Google account' checkbox appear in your cart just prior to checkout. When you link a Nexus 7 to your Google account, we'll automatically send your name and username to the device when you first power it on. You'll just need to input your Google account password to get started.
So they do this by linking the serial number, not opening the box and manually entering your gmail account, which they can't because they don't have access to my password!
Now what is the reason they opened the box, since I've ruled out setting up the unit before shipping!

Google opens the nexus 7 orders from the play store and adds the account you bought it with for your convenience. When I opened mine, I couldn't even figure out how they connected since the plastic was all on the tablet just like when I bought my transfrmer prime, perfectly intact. Whatever the case, I'm sure they take great precautions not to harm it and mine arrived pristine.

I hope if that's the case, if the device has any obvious defects, they notice them and don't send it out anyway.
I have the same thing with the a cut tape and another one taped on top like the OP too. The immediate thought was "...man someone opened mine," then seeing how there's so many defects I'm glad google opened mine. btw I did check the option linking to the account. Now that i think about it I hope that they opened everybox and check (more QA steps and less hassle returning).
Mine still hasn't arrived. I'm praying it's because someone opened it, realized it was defective, and switched it out for a better one. As long as my password isn't already typed in, I don't mind that it was opened and set up for me. Especially if that means someone has already done a check for defects. At any rate, I plan on taking pictures of the box before opening it, just in case. By the way, OP, did you notice any thing defective?
For all those users that think I am overeacthing.
Google should have placed a sticker on the outside of the box notifying the customer that is was opened for 'x' reason or reasons.
That would alleviate these issues.
All I want from Google is the reason.
There site said that they preload it by using the serial number? They don't state in that explanation that they need to open the box.
As soon as I am able to get in touch with them, I will get there reason and either accept it or request to send it back for refund.
I just wanted know how many other people noticed this?

[Q] I can't use Google wallet if I am rooted?

This is my first time having an NFC device, so please bear with me. I rooted my phone the evening I received it. Now I'm trying to set up Google Wallet, and it says that my device is unsupported. In the help topic regarding this message, it mentions something about rooted devices being unsupported due to security reasons, can I still use this feature? Is it discouraged in any way?
If anybody has some insight or experience with this, I'd like to know.

The reason it is discouraged is because anyone (with the now-how) can brute-force access your pin if your phone is rooted. And then skip away making payments on goodies.

Plenty of you fly to Japan and China, they have been using it for years. You can try looking up PayPass mechant, such as this link: http://www.google.com/wallet/how-it-works/in-store.html
So it doesn't have to be specifically for google wallet? They work on the things like the speedpass at speedway or your creditcard where you just tap it to the machine and it gets your infO?

I tried to use this at Walgreens today. They had the translucent blue PayPass terminal. I sat there for about 30 seconds and nothing happened. I even tried to enter the app and still nothing. NFC was on, and my card is attached in Google Wallet.
I think I set up wallet, then unlocked and rooted, then had to re-set up Wallet. Am I doing something wrong? The clerk was staring at me like I was crazy, just holding my phone next to the terminal....

I had that happen at Taco Bueno. And a McDonalds. But at some McDonalds it works. I think that so few people use this system that when its broken no one complains. And its probably never even tested when they set it up.
Typically you can just tap your phone to the thing (no need to be in the app). It'll prompt you for a PIN. Then you can pay.
If it's not working you may have a poor data connection? I think it requires data to work.

I'd still say it's more secure than that. Anyone can swipe a card and charge it as credit. Relatively few people would know how to brute force hack google wallet on a rooted device.
Everyone.
Google wallet does not require a data connection.
If its not working , I read on the wallet website to "hold it about an inch" from the terminal. Without placing it on the terminal. Try to see if that works.

Yeah mine didn't work at the gas station the other day, though I didn't log out of Google Wallet before I flashed a rom and rooted recently so some say that it'll never work again after that because of the secure element getting locked or something like that. Hopefully that's not true.
I've flashed and reflashed a lot. All you need to do is delete the data, connect to high speed internet like WiFi, then open it up. Worked for me.
