LauncherPro Plus Now Available

LauncherPro has released a paid version. Here is the information from its site:

"Introducing the new LauncherPro Plus!
So last week I promised you big news coming to LauncherPro. It took a bit longer than I expected, but hopefully it was worth the wait!
One of the features I get requested the most is to support HTC Sense widgets. It seems everyone wants them. Because of the way these widgets are built into the HTC Sense launcher itself, this is simply not possible. And since not every Android user has a phone with HTC Sense, these widgets are not even available to all users.
Today I’m glad to announce a new milestone in LauncherPro’s history. Starting today, there’s a new version called LauncherPro Plus, which will contain several widgets, exclusive to LauncherPro Plus users.
Upcoming widgets include:
People Widget – To quickly access all your contacts, or just your favorites, or a particular group. (Included in this release)
Bookmarks Widget – Quick access to your browser’s bookmarks
Friends Widget – Lists your friend’s status updates from Facebook and Twitter, and lets you update your own status too.
Calendar/Agenda Widget – Shows you a calendar you can scroll through to switch months, and also lets you see your agenda for any particular day right within the widget.
Messaging – Scroll through a list of your SMS messages or one by one. Quick links to delete messages, reply, etc.
I’ll be adding these widgets over the next couple of weeks. The “People” widget is available right now to LauncherPro Plus users. There’s going to be other features in the future that will be available only to Plus users too.
Pretty cool, eh?
Now, as you can imagine, LauncherPro Plus is not free. I’ve been working full-time on LauncherPro for the past two months without making a single penny. Obviously I can’t keep devoting all my time to it without making any money, so hopefully enough of you will buy the Plus version to keep the project alive.
The early-bird price for LauncherPro Plus is only $2.99 USD, and you can buy it today through Paypal using this link. The price will most likely go up once all widgets are included, so you’ll want to get in early to enjoy the discount.
I haven’t made it available through the Android market because unfortunately I don’t live in one of the few countries that Google allows to sell paid apps from. And there’s stil a huge amount of people (including myself) who live in countries where paid apps aren’t even available to purchase. (Way to go, Google!)
Another good thing about this new Plus version is that, if sales go well enough, I’ll be able to actually hire programmers to help me develop LauncherPro even faster. So even if you don’t have a use for these widgets, you should consider buying the Plus version to support the future development of LauncherPro."

2 questions. Does the people widget allow facebook contacts? Sense doesn't. And in assume all future updates are free for the purchasers? Didn't see that, just making sure.

Quick Question...
How are we going to get Updates? If the APP is not in the Market?

I'm not sure....I'm amusing that he will send an email with the update

ummm.... FACEBOOK contacts NOT supported? I bought it and the only contats that show up are google and phone.............

im running a sense build and have my fb contacts synced, i just clicked on all contacts and that was it.it sows all my contacts lol

I think there is some misunderstanding between Facebook contacts and Facebook info that gets LINKED into contacts you already have in your contacts list. Just to check and see, I synced Facebook contacts that were not part of my Gmail or Exchange contacts to my phone, and they do not show up with pics in the People widget. The people that I had as my gmail contacts and then LINKED to my FB account show up perfect.

I know in sense u can go to people and then go to menu and click on view and u can select fb contacts

I tried that.all it does is update the pictures of the contacts I have. I am wanting to make my facebook contacts into phone or g mail contacts

Facebook, the new battery killing app.

I have a real issue with the new facebook, since they introduced chat to the FB app it stays open even when you use the back button, im not using home because I know that doesnt close the app. I try to avoid even pressing the app until it is fixed.

No Facebook drain here closes fine

Do you leave chat on? I have no problems either.

When you're at the main chat screen:
Hit Menu -> Go Offline.
That will sign you out of chat and not drain your battery.

now try to disable the notifications lol

The built-in chat sucks anyway.
Use go! chat, much better and no battery loss for keeping yourself logged in.

I never *****ed about chat in the app.
I would rather have a dedicated app for it.
My only complaint was that we never had push notifications.
And still don't.

We don't have push notifications?
I can't turn mine off!
Every time I get an update or comment or some crap I get the app notification then the email...so annoying. I hope they fix it soon.

we most certainly do now....and it works so well I had to downgrade to the last version of the app in order to turn them off....

I've never, ever received a push notification for anything besides a facebook message [which I received prior to this update] and neither have two of my friends with the G1 and G2.
So please, enlighten me on what we are doing wrong.

I had problems with the new Facebook app draining my battery. I un-installed then reinstalled Facebook from the market, and my battery draining issues were gone.

do you have the notifications enabled within the facebook app?
It's probably just a ****ty app problem. Some people can't get push notifications at all and others can't get them to stop no matter what haha. Sounds like a well written program lol

Yeah, who knows. It's facebook.
The thing that will always make me laugh is how everyone moved to Facebook, which is buggy as hell especially the chat function, from Myspace AFTER Myspace solved all of the technical issues they had.

am I the only one?
When I open chat and I click "Go Offline" the app... doesn't. it'll close to the main menu but people can still message me from facebook and I get the notification at the top that says I have a new message... This open chat must be killing my battery. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program to no avail. Any ideas?

Facebook's engineers squash MySpace's then and now. MySpace just didn't have as many features as Facebook.

I use the Facebook app signed into chat and my battery lasted a day and a half yesterday. Probably would have lasted two days if I was in a place with good signal.

#1 Any news on honeycomb version?
#2 anyone else having trouble getting it to sync? It wont even let me add the facebook account on the accounts page.

Facebook no longer syncs with Android. That's for Gingerbread, but I'll bet they implemented it in Honeycomb, too.
And as for a version for HC, I doubt they'll have one cooked up before spring considering how slow they are with the regular Android version.

You didn't block apps from your Facebook did you? I had a problem recently where I could set up the normal Facebook app, on my EVO, but facebook for sense kept failing. Turns out when I went nuts removing annoying apps and trying to lock down my facebooks security, I blocked future unofficial apps.

I can confirm the facebook contacts don't sync on honeycomb. Although Twitter contacts still do. Must be software thing and less a google thing. When you try to add the account to accounts & sync it just flashes and drops you back to accounts.

It actually has more to do with Google's rules for Android. Here's a better explanation of it.

Probably FB will demand it back before making the Android tablet version

Friend Me works really well, it's made specifically for Honeycomb, and it's FREE. The ads are well done so it's not intrusive and for $3 using in app billing u can unlock the ad free version.
The only downside is as of yet they don't have any widgets

update : it turns out all my account have become indonesian..

im in the USA and was invited but still can't register. This sucks. Google is pissing he off

It says I need an invitation. How does one acquire one of these?

It's not open at the moment. there was a rumour that some people could get in through the front door, no invite.
That seems to be down again. They are doing this very slowly. They need to test all angles. The worst thing would be a spam fest where the worst people would get in and turn G+ into a trash heap.
This is going to be a huge site. Facebook is going to lose big time and Google wants to do it right.

For those who have it...can we discuss the horrid new messenger app

its horrible, you can't send higher res pics, you can even take a picture within the app without horrible quality

between Google messenger, and WhatsApp, i got everything I need.
I've never bothered with MMS, they have always been a pain to use, and compatibility across cell phone carriers it's abysmal.
I you are from Company A, you send MMS to friend on another phone Company B, chances are they will not get the picture.
that happened so often, that made MMS obsolete, specially with the intro of Skype, WhatsApp, WeChat, QQ, ICQ, Hangout,etc...

Toss out all HTC stock apps is my suggestion. Get Google dialer. Get Google messenger or Facebook messenger if you want chatheads. Get Google calendar. Get Google clock.

Sooo the stock messages app is the google messenger app, just realized it while trying to download it, I hate it, it's sends low res pictures, is there anyway to change quality or another good txt msg app?

I use Google Messenger, Calendar and Inbox instead of HTC's apps, but I do keep HTC's flip clock, it's an emblem.
And what's wrong with HTC's dialer, but the dark theme not available ?

Same. Android is just the name of the system Google developed.

Texting and MMS?!? Haven't used those for the last couple of years. WhatsApp has me covered for pretty much everything and more.
Good if you have no data signal though for a quick message.

unfortunately for me, my siblings and mom insist on a group MMS for communication. I've tried to get them to hangouts, allo, basically anything else. but no luck.
so annoying.
