[Jul 6] [Q] Reverting completely back to stock? - HD2 General

Hey guys I used to be in the HD2 scene, but sold mine and to make a long story short, I'm back. I bought a HD2 running Android, but I want to get it back to the original out of the box state so I have a blank slate to go off of. Its a tmo HD2, but I dont really know where to find a TMO rom, if its 512/1024, what radio I have, etc etc.
So where do I start??

I don´t know how many times that very question has been asked in this forum. It feels like hundreds of times.
A TMOUS HD2 is easily recognizable through colored buttons for start/end call (green and red), while other versions are just white. Also, through your serial, you can try to find out on htc.com if you can download a stock ROM there.
There is a special TMOUS ROM section, you can download the ROMs there. Or directly from TMOUS support. All other ROM can be easily found in the other ROM section. Just read a bit: For virtually everything else, some efforts from you are required, and you will easily find what you need.

Just to add, There is no reason for you to add teh date to topic, That is for dev releases. We have no need to know the date of your topic.

where should I do!

I see slot of people flashing their phones but I dont see why.what are the perks of flashing and would it void my warranty with t mobile
The purpose of flashing is so you can get new roms that are created by developers which mostly run better than the stock roms. Yes you do void your warranty if you have a HSPL (Hard SPL) but you can return it to stock SPL if you need to use the warranty. It will act like it has never been there.
Its up to you what you want to do.
hnmmm i see. is there something that other roms offer that others don't?
Yes, the operate without all the fail that that stock rom is. Quicker, Smoother, and just more awesome. Try kumars rom out. its good stuff!!!
hmmm ok i meant app and widget/feature wise

Yes, tons. Just imagine everything you've added onto your phone with cabs would already be placed on the phone from the start. Having them already "cooked" in keeps the phone from lagging and makes it mush smoother. I had a lot of lag and freezing problems with the stock t mobile rom but since switching to Energy roms I haven't had any issues. For a list of apps and programs already cooked in just check out the official rom thread of the rom your eying.
i don't thinkid be able to cuz I couldn't really understand any of the tutorials on how too doo it sad day for me
does anyone wanna help me out here or is it just too much to explain. I'm just worried about bricking my phone
What's to explain.
Go and get the HSPL for your phone-put phone into active sync with computer-run HSPL.
Download a rom for the phone-load the file LEOIMG onto the main directory of the memory card-put phone into bootloader-ROM loads-done.
That's it.
but what if i need to hard reset or something and who can give me a list of roms that are compatible i don't understand how to find them
There is a thread stickied on the top if this section listing T-Mobile compatible roms. If it says T-Mobile,T-Mous, T-Mo etc, or 1024 leo it is compatible. The thing is T-Mobile hd2's hsve 1024 mb of flash memory while the Euro hd2 has 512 mb. If you flash a 512 rom you will have a brick. There are some really good threads stickied about flashing roms, tweaks and such. Read them a few times to get an idea of terms and procedures.
BTW... YOU and ONLY YOU are responsible if you brick your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653114
List of compatible roms.
yes i agree man which is why i wanna get all the details about my phone cuz i chose to flash it. i shall look over it. thanks much guys. would anyone be willing totteach me various things or point me to such places where i can learn to make a theme for myself or possibly make one for me?
Uhmm compatible roms..........Maybe in the T-Mobile section I linked to the one that says "T-Mobile USA HD2 ROM Development"? Granted there are other ROMs in the Standard Leo section as well as other site out on the net but you have to sift through to be sure they are compatible.
anyway what if i need to hard reset will it install my stock tmo rom or will it install custom rom again.
It would reinstall the ROM that you have loaded.
ok a few more questions and I'm done. will tmobile still notify me of updates and where can i find the stock roms in case i need to warranty my phone
Have you even opened the ROM development section? If you did you would have seen the first sticky is all the different stock ROM's that are around. As for updates from T-Mobile yes you will still receive messages from T-Mobile if they put out an update. If you want to load an update you can. If you ever have issues and need warranty work yes you can flash back to a stock ROM and stock HSPL.
haven't cuz it takes forever to load cuz i only have internet on my phone. sorry
you do realize that you need an actual computer to flash your phone right? You will have an amazing adventure cracking your phone with no internet access on an actual computer. Its not impossible but good luck..
This thread seems to have :facepalms: and written all over it.
Read up and read more. Then when you think you have an idea what to do, read again!

HTC HD2 US T-mobile Flashing - please help.

Hello. I know I should have looked around more but I did and I am still confused.
I have got a HTC HD2 today from USA(the T-mobile version) and it has lots of the branding, now I would like to simply flash it with a clean software(ROM) so it would have an original boot screen and stuff but I dont know how to do it (i looked at the flashing tutorial but I did not understand it at all, although I know how to flash Nokias and Sony Ericssons )
Would someone be able to provide me with a few simple steps what to do? This is the t-mobile version with 1024 mb of rom and 16gb internal memory. (Well it has the simlock as well but as far as I know the ebay seller has to provide me with an unlock code as they promised). I am sorry for creating another topic but this is my first Windows phone I ever had and I really want to get it working asap because at the moment I can not even call/text because of the simlock.
I am unsure whether I should have posted it in the ROM section or the General section so mods please move it if applicable.
Oh No. I just realised there is a special forum for T-Mobile HD2's. Sorry!
Thanks for any support. I will appreciate it a lot.
Look Here. Do try to at least read the stickys before posting. This thread is found in the T-Mobile USA HD2 ROM Development forum, believe it or not.

Did you even read his post before giving him crap?
He said he read it but didn't understand it. I don't really blame him since that write up is a bit confusing. I even had a hard time following it and I had owned and flashed my Fuze long before going to my HD2.
It's a pretty simple process. Go to the T-Mob section/ROM section. Find a ROM you would like to try. You will also want to download the HSPL found in the tutorial. Run HSPL once the phone say "We Hacked It" you are good to flash a custom ROM of your choice. Once you download the ROM you want go into the file and pull out the file ending in nbh. If it does not have the name LEOIMG.nbh rename it to such then place it on the main directory of the memory card. Go into bootloader by turning the phone off, pressing the volume keys then while pressing them press the power/end call key. Once there just follow what it asks/tells you.
It's that simple. You don't have to worry about doing task29 right off the bat. So let that wait till later when you are more confident of what you are doing.

Everything you need to know is in that post. I worked it out reading from the same tutorial, how is it that he fails to do the same?
can you be more specific in your question? what part is hanging you up?
also...why can't you make calls? that doesn't seem good...
Would his simlock issue not be him trying to use a non t-mo sim in this phone!?!?

Maybe because you had a WM phone before owning an HD2 and already understood the flashing process? He said he read it and didn't understand it clearly because he had never owned a WM phone before this one. Like I said there is some confusing information in that post that kind of conflicts with itself. It could have been written a bit more clearly. The OP of the tut kind of takes it that the person reading it should already know some things about flashing.
Also to the OP of this thread. Changing the ROM will not sim unlock the phone it will simply update the OS. If you want to get the sim unlocked you only have a few choices. You can either wait for the person you bought it from to come up with one for you, you can go to one of serveral sites and purchase one (normally around $14 US), or you can contact T-Mobile for it. Since you are3 most likely trying to run this on another carrier that latter will not work for you.
Also what carrier are you trying to put this on. Depending on the carrier you might have limited service. If you are trying to put this on At&t it will not get 3g service.
I looked at those ROMs, but they are all modified, all I want is a brand new rom with no t-mobile stuff and I would stick with it until my htc skills get better. I just really want to get the software stuff done before I actually start using the phone.
- I think I will get the code tomorrow, they have to give me one as its a part of the transaction.
- I tried to use it with 3 UK as I live in the UK.
- I can't make calls as I can not start the phone with my UK simcard (I made it sound like a faulty phone in my first post).
Once again, sorry for posting in a wrong section... I was too unpatient. Got my phone in hands and gone to xda-developers.com straight away hoping to get everything done quickly and then I realised the difference between HD2 and HD2 Tmobile
Simply... I understood the tutorial better after reading it many times, but all I want is just debrand my phone (with no cooked roms or any other stuff), at least now.

Ummm the only rom for the TMOUS HD2 you are going to find "Without" the TMO stuff is a Custom rom ...
To take the TMO stuff out you have to MODIFY, or you take another ROM from another provider and MODIFY it ... So for what you are looking for is a clean, slim custom ROM ...
There are a few out there that are really slimmed down ROMs some even very close to stock , find one that sounds like you like and is compatible with your phone and give it a whirl , you will need HSPL first, HSPL3 is out so search for it ...
Just in case if someone wants to help me searching for a "clean, slim custom ROM", I will provide some hardware and software info that I think my be useful.
Ram Size: 576mb
Flash size: 1024mb
OS Version 5.2.21889 (21889.5.0.87) - isn't Windows (6).5.3 out?
Manila version: 2.5.20121412.1
Rom Version: 2.10.531.1 (82076)
Radio Version: 2.08.50.08_2
I will have a look for a clean rom (is anyone using a clean rom or is it just me demanding too much from that phone?). Please help me look for one...

I prefer the energy ROMs but they may not be close enough to stock for you
so look here ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656835
If you seen 21xxx in the OS version it is 6.5
If you see 23xxx it is 6.5.x (Actually I think 23xxx is 6.5.3.xxx)
Basically getting rid of startup and shutdown logos would be good.
This is the generic rom I would like to use but it will not work: htc.com/europe/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=2&dl_id=856
Is there no equivalent ROM to this one but for the TMO US version?
And finally, I can hardly find any clean ROM but i will keep searching...
EDIT: I found the newest T-mobile rom on their website which I have now downloaded... is there a way I could remove all branding from there before I flash it into my phone?
Btw, Is it true that the US TMO HD2 will not work with 3G network in UK? I'm scared now
I will make a new topic in the appropiate Tmobile HD2 Section... Please answer there if you want to help me.
My bad I did not notice the tmobile section before... Sorry Once Again.

If I flash my HD2 T9193 will I still have acces to ??

Hi all, yes sorry newbie nob here.
I have been reading this site for days & days to make sure I get it right but still not sure
If I load a HSPL and then a ROM (which one I have nooo idea) will I still have the Outlook and Office software or will that be wiped out to.
The main reason for getting the HD2 was the original functionality but I need to loose the Telstra hardcoded stuff.
thanx
There are so many Roms to choose from
Dutty, NRG, Chucky etc they are all great as they all offer different things for different users
Most will have the same stuff you are after usually called a stock Rom
others will have lots of stuff taken out LITE Roms
Choose a Rom chef and look at the Rom they are providing stick to one in the beginning to get used to flashing and read there threads they will usually have what is included at the beginning of that ROM thread if ur not sure ask in that thread most users here are very happy to help you out as we all started where you are now
To get started go to the ROM section and have a real good read at the thread on flashing your first ROM for noobs. And before you decide to do anything, re-read the first post.
Just so you get the hang of it, it is best to HSPL then flash the latest HTC ROM (this includes the main ROM and the Radio ROM). Once you feel a bit more confident, then you can go ahead any try the custom ROMs - remember that the custom ROMs will specify which Radio ROM has to be flashed prior to flashing the main ROM.
The main ROM includes the operating system, Office mobile, Manila & all the programs you already have except the operator specific ones. The Radio ROM controls all connectivity - WiFi, FM Radio, Bluetooth, GPS, telephone connections (including data) - it also has a major impact upon battery.
Thank you, thank you, thank you this answers everything (well for now)
I'll go read the Flashing your 1st ROM for Nobs AGAIN - think I've read it 10 times now lol
Oh I think I'm going to enjoy this new phone adventure

To answer this question: Most, if not all, custom ROMs contain Outlook and Office Mobile -- they are essential software in WM.
On a sidenote: It's best to try out multiple ROMs. That way, you can find one that suits you best.
I don't believe it, after weeks of being a total NOB and reading and re reading I have finally flashed a rom to my HD2 -
It was easy thank you all sooo much - now I'm hooked. lol

[Q] HTC HD2 Freeze - Pls take a look

Hi there,
Im very new here. I have a T-Mobile HTC HD2. Both HTC and WinMO are something new for me, as previously im iPhone user. Any guide/help is very appreciate. The phone keep hanging during boot. Usually its hang during the pink box and when htc sense finish load. How do I fix this?
I would like to install android on this phone. Is it possible for me to install after I update to latest OS(WinMo 6.xxx).
Update:
My HTC HD2 keep freeze during boot. Now I want back to normal, whatever ROM is it.
Welcome to XDA and whole real world as I am sure iPanzy kept you down but thats another matter for another day. Now I am not sure what pink box you are talking about you mean the splash boot? What are you using WM6.5? In that case look below.
Now you have few choice as HD2 is true multi platform device, as we are belessed with superior dev team and support many OS. You can use dual boot WM(NAND) and AOSP(mSD) or you can use NANDROID. If you pick dual boot I say use WM6.5.X as base 29XXX is by far the most superior stable then if you want to use AOSP then download and install Android on SDCard or skip all of that and use NANDROID as native.
Pink box I mean is probably shows "Stick Together" words
Now even worse, after few second the phone boot it freeze. I`ve tried factory reset, the same thing keep happening. What should I do now? Should I flash to new offical ROM/OS?
FYI in using T-Mobile HTC HD2 with 1024MB ROM.
For now let forget installing android on but focus on the freeze.
Thanks for the help STHNS
I know you are using Leo1024 as its TMobile also I had feeling it would be that ugly logo thats why I said splash boot. Which was the first thing I got rid of when I got HD2 and put custom splashscreen.
Now it would be unwise to jump in to Android as you might want to check if your HD2 is functioning properly so later if something does go wrong you can send it back for warranty without issue. So lets be clear what are you saying? You can't load in to your WM6.5? SenseUI never loads? or your stuck at bootscreen? Is it used/new? Where did you get this device?
My phone stuck on 3 difference places. I keep reset so the phone can be use normally. Indeed very few time its successfully boot.
1. Stuck on Pink box logo"Stick Together "
2. Stuck on loading Sense UI
3. Stuck after finish loading Sense UI.
Most of it stuck on 2 or 3.
Well no problem first where did you get this device? I have a feeling its used and you got it though some type of shady deal where original owner gave you talk about blah blah lol thats why he sold it, I could be wrong
But serious matter here shut the HD2 down completely and power it back on. Then report what you see the in steps. Hopefully you got it new if something is wrong due to faulty hardware you can send it for repair or warranty. But I have a feeling you don't thats why you came here :O again I could be wrong I am just always suspicious
Its used and i bought it on eBay.
Btw how could flash to offical ROM?
What rom is on it? And why would you want official rom? If you want WM based rom go use EnergyROM WM6.5.X 29XXX base as its far more stable.
EnergyROM WM6.5
Does the installation is same as official ROM?
To test the phone, I advice to go to the HTC Website and download a ROM (you have to use your phone's serial number to guarantee to get one suitable for your phone). If I remember correctly there are 3 variations: 2.08, 2.10 and 3.14. - go for the 2.10 (just to keep away from the 3.14 version as you want to move onto Android). Flash the ROM.
After a hard reset there should be no problems, if there is then your phone has hardware issues.
Thanks for the info fred.
Where I can download the 2.14 version?
What is shipped ROM?
What the diffence between shipped ROM vs official ROM.
Sorry for a lot questions. HTC and WinMo is something new to me. Im iPhone user.
2.14? You mean 3.14?
1) Shipped rom is the default manufacture rom that comes standard on it.
2) No diff between shipped and official rom they are same thing we call them stock rom. Which is supported and maintained by the folks who made the phone.
If you want to upgrade stock rom not sure why you want to do that you can go to Tmobile website and check under wmupgrade or go to HTC website and look under support. I say you forget about WM 6.5 stock rom and go use WM6.5.X EnergyROM base 29XXX its simply superior in every aspect.
The reason I suggest you flash, for example, the 2.10 ROM is that it will flash the SPL, the main ROM and the RADIO. This will get the phone running fully on an official ROM.
The problem you have can either be modifications to the operating system software or additional software or a hardware problem. By flashing a stock (official) ROM you will have cleared the existing operating system and additional software. Now if the problem is still there then it is very likely that it is due to a hardware problem.
If after flashing the problem is gone, then by all means flash the excellant Energy ROM or flash your desired Android ROM.
If you only flash a custom ROM which does not include the RADIO (which controls all communication interaction and not just the FM Radio) then you are reducing the chances of finding out the problem.
Silly question, have you tried booting the phone up without the SD Card?
After all the problem, freeze, hang up and etc I no longer put any sd card on my htc hd2. I beleive the problem might be with the hardware. But why not we try our best before given up on it.
I had several simple questions.
1. Can radio be downgrade?
2. What radio for? Its same like baseband on iPhone
3. Where I can download 2.10 HTC HD2 US T-Mobile? Search here found nothing

1) Yes you can downgrade Leo_Radio's long as you use the correct one as you know there is .50 for HD2-US(Leo1024) and .51 HD2-EU(Leo512).
2) Radio is software that controls your phones wireless interfaces such as data, voice, bluetooth, gps, wifi and other power and memory related firmwares. Well never used iOS so can't say what they call it but far as AOSP goes yes we call it baseband.
3) Search for TMoUS 2.10 stock rom and you will find it or do search in this forum as I am sure someone has it archived.
3)
Answer to your question No. 1 - Yes, Radio can be downgraded and upgraded if you install HSPL prior to downgrade/upgrade. FOr the rest you have to search the forum for the answer.

How Do I Change the Radio ROM?

i got static on my hd2 when i make calls. it was suggested that i change the radio rom to hopefully eliminate the static. i've never modded an hd2 phone before. i got a stock 6.5 on it. i hope its possible to change the radio rom without modding the stock 6.5. how do i change the radio rom? what are the steps?
i ask ONLY serious ppl to reply, no trolls or negative ppl.
You change the radio just like you do a ROM you can flash it via USB are flash it via SD card. Download thw Radio you want to flash and put your HD2 into bootloader by holding down the volume doen button while powering on your HD2. Connect it to you computer via USB and wait for the Serial in the white bar of bootloader to change to USB and then flash the radio.
Be adviced though with a stock ROM if it is a 3.14 ROM these ROMs are ver dependant of what radio version you have on the phone. They need a 2.15.50.14 or 2.14.50.02 radio. If you want to use any lower radio version than these you will need to flash a custom ROM, but they may still give you issues as most of the very resent custom ROMs are based of 3.14 stock ROMs
Do not forget my wartning from my other post about what radio versions not to flash.

hi, T-Macgnolia. good to hear from u again. ok, i read your message on my other thread. below are my current specs. but honestly, this phone shouldnt make any static calls whatsoever. its brand new. it should make CLEAR calls right out the box and i shouldnt have to flash it with any roms as a result.
os version: 5.2.21913 (21913.5.0.94)
manila version: 2.5.20181424.0
rom version: 3.14.531.1 (04666) WWE
rom date : 9/29/10
radio version: 2.15.50.14
protocal version: 15.42.50.11W
it looks like i got the most current version of the radio and stock rom.
but to be honest, all this flashing sounds risky and complicated. i already owned TWO hd2s and they gave the same static. i sent the 1st one to htc for repair TWICE and it came back unrepaired. i bought a 2nd hd2 and it had the SAME static. at this point, i cant beleive that any hd2s are static free. are you guys sure u dont have static everytime someone talks on a call?
also, this loser, samsamuel, is harassing me and i dont know why!! i STRONGY urge u to ban this guy from my thread and any of my future threads. he harassed me in my prior thread and hes creating problems on this one.
Lol, I was calling you on your bad attitude, not harassing you but enough said, I'll not post in your thread again.
Best of luck with your defective Leo.
lol "i'm not paranoid, they really are out to get me!"
i just want to add a few things:
1. you shouldn't HAVE to mess with your device. in an ideal world, it should work out of the box. but such is life...
2. the rest of us don't HAVE to help you...but we do, and for free! mind you, samsamuel's thoughts and posts are valuable and insightful, and i guess any "attitude" you received was probably well placed because your conclusion in your previous thread was based on statistical evidence when we all know that "correlation doesn't imply cause and effect". finally, your "how to change radio ROM" query has already been well answered and well documented on these forums, just search and read!
and now for the thread topic:
1. having the latest version of the radio doesn't mean it is the best version for your combination of network+location.
2. i honestly don't know for sure why you get static on every hd2 you have owned. the odds of getting a lemon so many times in a row are astronomical! mine works just fine. a friend and i brought our hd2s together from the same guy on the same day. his hd2 works fine also. my uncle has two hd2s, both of his work fine. another distant relative has an hd2, and given the pattern, you'd be correct if you guessed that his works fine too. no static on any of these hd2s!
3. are you using a TMOUS sim in the phone? have you tried another sim? have you tried demonstrating the problem to a TMOUS representative in-person?
4. is the device sim free, i.e. can you try another network's sim in your device? worth a shot...might be a long standing network/tower problem in your area.
anyway, cool down dude, don't be all paranoid, no one is harassing you in the true sense of the word...just slightly using the "stick" approach to nudge you into doing more reading and research of your own. it sure beats the whole process of posting->waiting->getting harassed->posting some more->waiting->so on. cheers

T-Macgnolia i'll be sending you a private message about this troll.. please read.

lol "i'm not paranoid, they really are out to get me!"
i just want to add a few things:
1. you shouldn't HAVE to mess with your device. in an ideal world, it should work out of the box. but such is life...
2. the rest of us don't HAVE to help you...but we do, and for free! mind you, samsamuel's thoughts and posts are valuable and insightful, and i guess any "attitude" you received was probably well placed because your conclusion in your previous thread was based on statistical evidence when we all know that "correlation doesn't imply cause and effect". finally, your "how to change radio ROM" query has already been well answered and well documented on these forums, just search and read!
and now for the thread topic:
1. having the latest version of the radio doesn't mean it is the best version for your combination of network+location.
2. i honestly don't know for sure why you get static on every hd2 you have owned. the odds of getting a lemon so many times in a row are astronomical! mine works just fine. a friend and i brought our hd2s together from the same guy on the same day. his hd2 works fine also. my uncle has two hd2s, both of his work fine. another distant relative has an hd2, and given the pattern, you'd be correct if you guessed that his works fine too. no static on any of these hd2s!
3. are you using a TMOUS sim in the phone? have you tried another sim? have you tried demonstrating the problem to a TMOUS representative in-person?
4. is the device sim free, i.e. can you try another network's sim in your device? worth a shot...might be a long standing network/tower problem in your area.
anyway, cool down dude, don't be all paranoid, no one is harassing you in the true sense of the word...just slightly using the "stick" approach to nudge you into doing more reading and research of your own. it sure beats the whole process of posting->waiting->getting harassed->posting some more->waiting->so on. cheers

i dont want your help.. dont comment on my thread anymore.
Member ASCIIker is correct as it could be your SIM card giving you issues as the HD2 has been know to act kind of funky with some SIM cards. I would see about getting a new SIM card and see if that may solve your issue. You have the current up to date ROM and Radio on your HD2 so it is more than likely a issue with something besides the HD2. Try the a new SIM and then post back here with the result.
Cheers

Damn that sucks man. Have you tried taking your SD card out maybe you got something funky going on with it as I have heard of some people taking their SD card out and it solving weird problems like this.
I assume since you said it was a prepaid card you do have your HD2 SIM unlocked, Ialso know you-know-what what SIzm unlocking is as you talked about it in the first thread I seen you in.
If trying different radios and another SIM card has not helped I am not really sure what could be the issue, unless there is just a bad cell tower or something in your area that is only malfunctioning on the GSM bands the HD2 uses. I find it hard to believe you were unlucky enough to get two HD2s that had the same issue causing static. Not saying it could not happened but the chances astronomical.
Have you tried different radios? It has been busy for my this week and I forget if you have.

I really need to update my radio ROM. But based on my current stock ROM of 3.14, I’m limited to only 2 specific radio ROMS. I’m using one of them and obviously, I’m still getting distortion on calls. As a result, I want to install a custom ROM to install a lower version radio ROM that’ll hopefully remove distortion from calls. As I said before, I’ve never modded an htc phone before.
Since I got a TMOUS phone, you said not to install the following cuz I may brick it:
Leo_RADIO_15.36.50.07U_2.09.51.03 **(from HTC **1.72)
Leo_RADIO_15.31.50.07U_2.07.51.05 **(from HTC **???? )
Leo_RADIO_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07 **(from HTCWT 1.61)
Leo_RADIO_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2 (from HTC ** 1.48)
Leo_RADIO_15.26.50.07U_2.04.50_22_2(from HTC ** 1.43)
Anyway, what custom ROM do you suggest I install for my TMOUS so that i can install the right radio ROM on it? I want one that looks exactly like WM 6.5. also, can you provide the steps needed to install a custom ROM on my SD card.. thank you.

Yes do not flash any of those radios to your HD2 as they will brick your HD2, no might to it, they will brick it. look at the numbers I have highlighted and this is what you look for in radios that will brick a TMOUS HD2, any 2.05.50.xx radio will brick it too.
Ok the one ROM that comes to my mind when you say you want a ROM that is close to stock id the Energy ROMs as the ROM chef NRGZ28 has multiple ROM versions in that thread, all of wich IO highly recomend you just have to pick your flavor. Here is a link to the Energy ROM thread if you want to look at screen shots of all the ROMs as you might find one you like more than the ones he has that are close to stock. Here is a link directly to the post #3 which has the close to stock ROMs in it, you will probably want to go with the Eergy version are the Reference version from this post. to download click on the American flag and then select the most current version of the ROM you want.
Here is something you need to know it will help you know wich download to click on when you go to hotfix from clicking on the flag. This comes straight from post #1 of the Energy ROM thread, I added the red and blue writing to help you understand.
Looking at the download folder you will find two core versions of my ROM.
* The 21916 Build which is the most reliable and bug free release. It has the Start menu button at the top left corner! I recommend you start with this first!
This is the number for the closest to stock ROMs when you go to the download link.
* The 29017 Build that's the latest in the 6.5.X series with the Start menu button at the bottom left corner and big softkeys. These builds are not as stable or perfect, but they reflect the latest cutting edge technology from Microsoft. These are also much more finger friendly throughout.
This is number for the ROMs that are a little more modified but still close to stock if you use the ROMs I suggested.

Click on my guide in my signature to learn how to flash HSPL to your HD2 as you will have to have it to flash a custom ROM. It has a link to where you download HSPL and complete instructions on how to flash it.
Almost forgot go to here to learn how to flash via SD card.

hi, T-Macgnolia. thanks for the info. i got a question. i like the 'Reference 21916 build' ROM. but, i dont like the big soft keys (action and menu) at the bottom. i like the way the soft keys look on the stock wm 6.5. can i customize it to make the bottom look exactly like the bottom of the stock wm?
do you know if this ROM is the latest version?
also, hows the battery life on this ROM? i need to make sure that this ROM doesnt drain the battery... this is very important for me.

WM6.5 Stock uses an older Windows Mobile Build.. Build 6.5.3 I believe was the when it started to be more finger friendly and in turn has the larger buttons.. So if you like how the older build looks then look for roms that have that version of WM6.5
Look in the WM6.5 Themes you might find something you like
As for Battery Life.. It all depends many factors... Some say the latest Radio has a higher battery usage while others say the complete opposite.. You must check which combination of Radio/ROM fits your location the best and if the battery is decent enough to stick with.. That why most people start out thinking they wont flash roms, but once they start having problems or want better performace they change their mind

21916 will give you start menu in the top left corner without the big ugly softkeys... thats the other build number.
It only shows that in the pic as it seems to be the most popular version.
Battery life with energy roms tends be less than some other roms as they are optimised for speed. Battery life is by no means bad though. You should still be able to make it through a full day without worrying about running out of juice. That said, there are other roms which will give you better battery life if this is a huge issue for you.
Also, not sure if this has been mentioned yet but when trying out different radios its apparently a good idea to test it out for at least 48hrs before you decide if its making a difference or not.....
Yes koolxx as canantroutman posted the 21916 ROM will give you the same soft keys at the bottom and the same start key at the top like the stock ROMs do.The ROM you like the Reference ROM is based of the latest stock ROM so yes it is the latest ROM. So far as battery life goes I can not give any first hand feed back on this as AI have not used that ROM. What I can do though is refer you to member facdemol's "Various ROMs power consumption" thread, link is below. If you go and read his first post you can see from his test resoults that all ROMs use just about the same power as far as power consumption goes, but he does say that all around the Energy ROM does best on power consumption. Go check the thread out it is a very informative thread and project he is working on.
