Hey! just found the WIFI Xoom pre-order at Futureshop, supposed to be available on 8 Apr!!!
I just flipped my credit cards points to Futur Shop's cards.
Yay!
Just cancelled my B&H order and pre-ordered at FS! Thanks op!
Order Details:
Scheduled for Ground (Estimated arrival date(s) 03/24-04/01/2011)
Anybody else get the same thing??? It would be so sweet if we got it before the 8th!
I got that as well, i think it is the default shipping time (2-3 days) for the ground service, not accounting for that the device will not be available until the 8th....
But Please! i will be more than happy to be wrong ;-)

Yea you're probably right but I most definitely hope you're wrong!
For some odd reason, Best Buy Canada is selling it for $649.99 as opposed to Future Shop's $599.99. (even though they're essentially the same company)

They're owned by the same people but still do business independently, so it's quite common for one to have products or specials the other doesn't. Best Buy will probably bring their price down and if not you can always invoke their "Lowest Price Guarantee".

Why cancelling B&H for FS? For the Warranty?
pre-ordered from FS chances are 599$ is a mistake, since most Canadian prices are usually higher than US prices ... dunno why, our dollar is better now!
Question for you : Should I cancel my order from BH and make a new order with BB Canada or FS ??
If yes, why ? There are most accessory for now with BH..
Should I order one?
I'm desperate to ditch my iPad (I've got a 64 GB 3G model) and move into a more open application ecosystem (without having to jailbreak etc). So I've had a Xoom sitting in my FS cart all day and I've hesitated on pulling the trigger on the order.
But here's the thing. I use the 3G connection on my iPad all the time. Especially when I travel (I've got an AT&T SIM that I swap in when I travel to the states). I realise that I can easily tether the Xoom to my HTC Desire HD for net access when WiFi isn't available but, of course, then I have to worry about the battery life on two devices instead of just one.
So I'm torn between buying the WiFi Xoom now or waiting for the rumoured release of the 3G Xoom in Canada later in the year.
Any advice?

Future shop will hook you up with pretty good deals once you tell them you're interested in the extended warranty (which I think is worth it). Ill get a free SD card and get them to lower the price as well
It'll be much easier to process the warranty at your local FS than having to mail it to B&H.

Get an extra battery for your cell phone. I bought my extra battery on eBay...soooo cheap.
Hum.... On the FS website now : Pre-Orders: Estimated release date: 04/15/2011
Passed from 8 to 15....
I think I'll keep my order from BH.
Well that sucks...

I agree, but i still prefer to deal with a Canadian vendor to work with in case of warranty issues......

BB now has it on for $599 same release date as Future Shop...
but at lease the price of the accessories has dropped, the speaker doc was 199 at first but now is down to 129, same as in the US....

Same here. I decided to wait it out for warranty purposes too. Future Shop is pretty good with their warranties. And like I said before. You can usually get them to throw in a lot of stuff if you get an extended warranty...or even get them to lower the price of the warranty (via decreasing the price of the product).

I had to upgrade to my Evo before the April 1 deadline because of the Premier Program changes and I was able to jump in the best buy buyback program for free. And since I don't think I am the only one around here I was wondering.
When I look at what the retail price for phones on bb.com compared to sprint's retail prices, bestbuy is almost $100-200 more. (e.g. sprint Evo $450/ BB Evo $600) Has anyone tried to get them to pricematch sprint when buying a phone at retail price? If you go to bestbuy's pricematch policy the first FAQ is
"What is considered a local retail competitor? "
and the answer is ....
"A retail store located in the same market area as your local Best Buy store."
The reason I ask is this. On the same web page there is a link for a New York Price Match Class Action lawsuit about a similar situation where an individual bought a camera from Best Buy then found the same camera at a "local" camera retail shop for less, and BB wouldn't price match it. And this individual won. (Reference the Decision and Order Document. The conclusion is on the bottom of page 31)
Note : There is more to the story, but this is what started the wheel turning in the lawsuit. I recommend reading that specific document thoroughly so you can see how scandalous retail can be.
I can understand not matching contract prices, although in the past they have for me. But in this case we are talking "retail" price. I have up til August to get 50% for my Evo ($300) and I was thinking for future sake how i would attack the upgrade. I could either do an ETF (about $180) and lose my mobile #, but pay contract price ,or I could just cash in the Evo for the program and buy phone at retail.
Has anyone had any experience with this situation with BB?

I'm not sure why you'd want to sell your phone to best buy when you can get more for it on here, craigslist, or ebay. There is a reason they want to buy it back from you at that price.

I had to purchase my Evo at full retail price and i looked into this too. I was inclined to purchase it at Best Buy because they actually had it in stock where as the sprint stores near me put me on a waiting list (this was during the 2 week wait list stuff)
I hoped to price match because i knew people there from working there 3 years beforehand
They wouldn't price match for me either
I ended up getting my Evo at Radioshack after walking in randomly to see if they had them in stock. It was like 25 bucks more, but after being on a wait list for over a month i decided 25 bucks more than Sprints retail price was worth it
A little off topic, but on the price match subject at Best Buy. I just bought a new high end refrigerator from best buy, and before she rang it up she went online and checked all the major appliance sellers for the product and Lowes had it for $159 cheaper so they matched that price with out even asking. Of course, I had already shopped around and new of the lower price and was planning on making them price match. I prefer shopping at best buy for big purchases to maximize my reward points.

$300 for an EVO which is nearly 2 generations old hardware is a VERY good amount to receive for it.
They only fetch $200-250 average on craigslist, and that's begging the buyer to pay more.
I have purchased a phone from best buy at retail price and they matched the price to sprint for me. I don't know why they would not. That seems kind of stupid.

A lot of times it depends on the sales person. Same thing when you walk into a Sprint store for an upgrade, exchanges, or just service.

Evo's go for about $200-$250 here in the Phoenix area, you will occasionally see the $300, but I doubt that is where the negotiating settles at.

Obviously you didn't read the Class Action I referenced. In the reading the customer was told he could not price match because the identical camera was sold at a local retailer that specifically sold photography equipment, not an electronics chain store like Ultimate Electronics or Circuit City for example. Also they were practicing within the Best Buy chain that they would not price match it it was not cost effective, like a percentage of profit over cost.
Now I know from being a part time manager in the past at an Autozone store that we were not allowed to price match oil/antifreeze products against Wal-Mart, Target, etc., specifically for the reason they were big box stores. But we "could" pricematch other auto part retailers (Checkers, Napa, etc.) This is why I asked the question, because I was wondering if Best Buy has ever said that when buying a phone retail. Because I could see something said along the lines of, "Well they have lower retail because they receive your monthly payment."
In a "for profit" business, I don't think it would be stupid on their end not to price match as they give back considerably higher buy back on phones over Sprint. Also Best Buy may not buy as many phones as Sprint so their bottom line could be slightly higher.
The best buy buy back program is a scam. I'm glad you got it for free; its like saying hey you pay me $250 upfront to purchase this $1000 laptop, and when you trade it back you only get 500. This is stupid and Best buy wins. I used to shop at best buy all the time until realizing that their markup on everything is like 30% higher than normal retail value. I purchased my heroc on launch day at best buy and paid 100 bucks for it with upgrade. I believe at the time sprint had it for 199 with upgrade. I think their full retail price is much higher on phones because they just cancel out the rebates. I purchased my evo at radio shack for 99.88 but their full retail price was also much higher than sprint's as well. Hmmm

Yeah, there is no way I would have purchased it.
However, the situation was at the time was that I had an upgrade that I was going to lose in April whether I used it or not. So now with the EVO3D and the Nexus S coming out, I would like to take advantage of it if necessary.
So, has anybody verified yet if the $539 wifi Xoom at Sam's Club rumor was valid? There's nothing yet on their Web site, and my closest Sam's club is 30 miles away...
My local Sam's Club did not have it at all. And as you said, its not on their site yet.
Yeah, I called around and it's looking like only some selected stores will be carrying the Xoom, maybe the sames ones that are carrying the iPad. None of those are close to me, so I'll be off to Costco today to get my wifi-only (and then return the 3G version once I see that the wifi-only version is decent).

Obviously, I hadn't seen it verified that the price at the setup store wouldn't make it into reality, and if that's been verified "100 times" since the wifi Xoom started selling this morning, I'd be amazed. Indeed, my question was about confirmation one way or another about whether or not that price would be the official price, which could only be settled today.
I also haven't seen the wifi Xoom at any Sam's Club stores, period, at any price. So, a good answer would have been, "It's available at some Sam's Clubs, but it's selling for $589." Incidentally, what stores have you seen it at? I called the three within an hour's drive of my house and they all said they won't be carrying it. Apparently, only certain stores might be carrying it (and they weren't sure), probably the limited number of stores that also carry the iPad.

It was covered on every major place that ran the $539 story that this was a mock store and a mockup potential price, and there was no real indication that any store would actually be selling this low or selling it at all with any widespread availability, especially considering Costco is only selling for $589.

Hence my freaking question... You know, to verify or debunk the rumor.
Damn, these forums are frustrating sometimes.
I went to my Sam's Club (Naperville, IL) and they don't even have a date for them to arrive in inventory. The local Costco however, had the big display with cardboard XOOMs with gel case for $589.

Exactly what I was saying... No one has been able to confirm the price or availability. Not sure what else you want people to tell you. I was simply informing you that the first poster isn't incorrect, it really has been said a million times that this is a mockup price.
I don't think that meeting informative answers with snarkiness is getting you anywhere. If you've read up on any of the articles that this was reported in when it first came out (been a while now) you'll see that there really isn't any information on the Sam's Club price or release. The only response you're gonna get is this unless you contact a store and get a concrete answer.
I was waiting on Sam's myself but with Amazon being tax free and free shipping, it works out to almost the same as Sam's price+tax.
The Sam's Club in Kenosha WI did not have it either, nor could he tell me if and when to expect it. I wound up buying one at the BB up there since they offer 18 months same as cash, and sales tax is half of Illinois.
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/06/1...on-sale-at-costco-for-499-plus-free-gel-case/
Is this deal online? Its coming up to 589 when I add to cart
I just returned my WiFi Xoom at Costco 3 days ago. When I returned, the lady working the counter said "oh it looks like there's a $100 price drop coming, I think they're just trying to get rid of these things".
When I went over to the displays for the Xoom, I saw nothing advertising $500, they were all still the same displays advertising $589.
Should also be noted that the Costco Xooms already came with a free gel case, its in the bottom of every box.
So anyone who bought a WiFi Xoom at costco on release still has like 8 more days to return and re-buy at $500, or get them to reimburse the difference, before the 90 day return policy comes to an end.
They might be confusing the Acer Iconia and the Xoom.
The Costco here that I got my Xoom at a little over a month ago, stopped carrying the Xooms.
Now they have a big display of 32gb Acer Iconia's plus case for $479
I guess my question is, if needed, how would I return my Xoom and get a replacement if my store doesn't carry them anymore?

I don't think they've confused them. There's just a legitimate price drop for whatever reason.
You can get the price assurance refund of the difference at any store that acknowledges the price drop I'd assume.
Most costcos have run out of them. I'm sure they are just lowering the price to push the few they have left out. Just go up and say hey i bought this a month ago and you now have it lower. They will call a manager and he will give you the difference. If he says sorry nothing i can do, say ok then i'm returning it. He will give you the difference.
i tried getting one today but they were out of stock and the price is $500. i am going to another one that has them in stock. i also tried to get walmart to price match but one store said they dont with membership clubs and the other store it was too confusing for the manager... blah
I called the three closest stores near me and none had them in stock. The lady on the phone at one store said some in the Phoenix area had them in stock but were showing a price of $569.99.
Hi forum. I'm earning some rewards gift cards through my employers health insurance monitoring program. I have another month and a half to go, and will end up with around $300. (it HAS to be used for a store like BBuy/amazon/target/etc. Can't get plain Visa gift card)
Anyway, I was thinking of saving it for Black friday at best buy, hoping they will carry the TF300. (don't want T700 due to wanting to run emulators + cost of higher res screen and materials) However, i'm hearing that stores are not supplying or stopping their supply of TF300 to replace with the 700. I figure the price won't drop anytime soon either.
Does anyone think stores will do doorbusters for TF300's for black friday, or will they be old inventory and pushed out by the next few months? (which obviously would mean they wouldn't carry them nationwide for doorbusters if the stock is non-existent) I would love to save money and find this for similar price to the $250 transformer on 2011 BFriday, but can't expect it 100% to happen again.
Thanks for any suggestions!
I guess I should specify that i'm looking for opinions to either wait till black friday, or buy sooner before inventory of the T300 disappears. (doubtful that there will be any big retail chain price drops before BFriday)

Anything could happen but I don't think the TF300 that would have a huge price drop. Its still one of the higher end tablets and retailers don't have any margins on them. You're probably looking at older models if any that will be discounted. I do think the tf300 price will drop pretty soon but probably not close to your $300 gift card.

That's what I thought also. I wasn't inferring that the price would get to $300 or less, I just mentioned that amount as my motivator to pick up one of these.
The wife wants and ipad, I want something android that is root/hack friendly, and is fast and has a great fan/development support. Plus the keyboard dock is tempting, i'm just not sure I can justify the extra cost just to end up using it for keyboard intensive DOS games like Tie Fighter. LOL
