funny how they photoshopped "Samsung" onto the front of the tab on all of their videos.
The most interesting piece is something about support of multi kind of video format and user does not need to convert!!!
Is this because of touchwiz has better video player? probably ...

I saw a TV ad last week for the galaxy tab 10.1, and it also had the "Samsung" logo plastered on the front bezel. I think they want to remind viewers that they are not looking at an iPad/generic tablet commercial.
Could be just a simple Samsung sticker.
It looks like it doesn't suck. And those mini apps sound like a good idea.

In stock honeycomb you dont have a separate video player app.
Have heard that the tabs that now ships with touchwiz has a dedicated videplayer app like the SGT 7" have. And that the support for divx/xvid is better.
lets us hope that with touchwiz and Samsung we can get a btter video experience like we are used to with the 7" Tab that worked so good playing video.
Does some one know if the Galaxy 10.1 shiped with touchwiz is divx certified like the 7" Is?
Edit: when they shows the hdmi adapter it looks that they also have connected it to the charger, if you have to have it connected to a charger to make it work it will suck.

Btw its friggin 2011 when will these companies start hiring editors whose native language is english when producing videos and documentation in english. "indivisual"???

Any word on whether not these features can be turned on or off?
Worried it may make things sluggish.
Do like the app while still in app functionality.
Just a reminder of how every once in a blue these skins do provide functionalities that should be default in android.

Id be more interested in knowing whether or not portrait mode lag is addressed.

Everybody says that. Moboplayer plays just about everything with no conversion already. Playing everything back smoothly at 24-30 fps is a different story.
I believe when the Galaxy S came out it was one of the first phones to play DivX videos stock and it did a good job of it too... better than Mobo player does now I believe... and that was before anything else was around. Could be the case again?

This is true. The Touchwiz video player on my Epic (1ghz hummingbird) was much better than moboplayer. I'm really hoping Touchwiz makes the video playback at least equal to that - it was incredible.

I was browsing Youtube for Galaxy S video out demonstrations and came across this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epytWcOFpYo
As you all know, the Epic 4G doesn't have this feature. This really disappoints me. I was hoping to be able to play games and browse the web on my 42" tv, but now I won't be able to with the Epic. I don't know why Sprint and Samsung removed such an important feature of the Galaxy S line. We should write to Sprint and Samsung over the removal of this feature and ask them why? I hope it's just a software crippling rather than a hardware one, or Sprint has really let me down for the last time.

I'm pretty sure they'll have tv out for the epic by the end of the year
Have faith in the Devs my brother, for they shall deliver that which samsung&sprint will not.
This is purely speculation on my part.
I believe they will have TouchWiz 3.0 and TV out with the Froyo update later this year. As some of you might know, the current version of TouchWiz is more like 2.5 and is missing a few of the 3.0 features. I believe Sprint made this choice because of some of the issues the 3.0 version is having with lag and black screens.
Also I am hoping the USB to HDMI cable from Samsung will also come out this year and solve the issue.

This. Probably. I suspect the software on the Epic is limited due to stability and time constraints. I wonder how soon someone can port over these features from say the Vibrant or Captivate. Unfortunately Samsung isn't the best to rely on for timely updates... but one can hope. In the meantime... DLNA for those with compatible TVs or PS3s

This is true. Samsung needs to update touchwiz 3.0 to work in landscape. The epic has lost a lot of features the other sgs phones have due to this. We all now how well samsung does updating there phones\software so good luck on that. It will be hard to port sgs rom's due to the hardware changes. Im sure there will be a rom with touchwiz 3.0 sometime but front camera, keyboard & landsacape will not work until they get ported if they can get ported(samsung drivers are not fully released so who knows how that will work out). They may have changed the back camera do to space issues. There are reports that the epic camera and video recording are not as good as the other sgs phones. Nothing comfirmed yet on rear camera until we get a epic teardown.
What I'd like to know, if the Epic does get micro usb - hdmi, how would you charge it? All of the micro usb - hdmi cables I've seen weren't split for power.. so you're looking at a couple hours max viewing IF it works.

It does split. The charger goes in the HDMI end.
http://phandroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/microusbhdmi.JPG
That said, I'm going to make absolutely sure that the lack of TV-out via component and/or HDMI on the Epic is merely a software issue before buying it, and not due to a lack of the appropriate hardware.
I don't know what's the validity of the information on the page I'm going to link, but I clicked on a link comparing all the Galaxy S versions and I see that the Epic 4G's audio subsystem runs on a lower frequency than the others. It runs 44100hz instead of 48000hz, and seems to be the only one missing a controller named Wolfson WM8994E.
If this information turns out to be true, then the Epic 4G uses a different 3.5mm hardware piece, thus probably lacking the tv out feature from this port. I hope this is just misinformation. Here's the link comparing the phones : http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer&id=45&c=all_samsung_galaxy_s_variants

I thought more tv-out phone only showed vdo and pictures through the HDMI? I will never use a phones HDMI. Will there be any games on the phone that will be worth playing on the TV and how would you control the game with the HDMI wire hanging out the side of the phone? I also don't understand why you would want to go on the web with your phone through TV when you are at home. Isn't you home PC faster and has a better picture. I think the the TV-out would look bad on my 82" tv.
I will be truly bummed if Sammy ripped us on TV out hardware.

Hmm How Sprint and Samusung can consider that a multimedia phone is beyond me

Many like myself use their phone for Pictures and Video recording.TV out feature allows us to view such material using AV composite TV cables.

Such cables provide good video quality and sound which is great for home use , any TV anywhere
All other S galaxy phones have it so should Epic , If Epic fails to provide feature its a major downer I will more then likely go back to EVO

YouTube HQ is available on the phone (just press "Menu" & "Watch in high quality"). Sprint TV must be used over your phone connection, because it needs to authorize that you are a Sprint user. TV Out is in the hardware... it will probably make it back into the software next month (or so) when Android 2.2 Froyo rolls out.
This phone is a premium media phone. Can playback 1080p, 720p, 480p video perfectly. Plays games at 60 fps. 5.1 Surround sound. Super AMOLED screen that makes LCD look dull and grey.

I hope you're right about the hardware supporting tv out from the 3.5mm jack to rca and micro usb to hdmi, and Sprint and Samsung enabling them when Froyo hits. I think I'm holding out for the phone until I see confirmation that the hardware supports it. If not there's always the other Galaxy S phones on other carriers. I didn't know that. Thanks (no sarcasm intended).
this video pretty much convinced me to get this over xoom !!
some of the features that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has over the Motorola Xoom are :-
dual surround speakers
native divx play
Slimmer and lighter than the Xoom
8mp cam
FULL 1080P video recording
bigger battery
can anyone prove other wise? and what's about the screen - what screen does the xoom have?
I already own a Galaxy Tab original - thinking of getting this when out !
So are there a lot of good games for the Tab or is it just angry birds and dungeon defenders?
ofcuz there are thousands of great games! u can go youtube n search for "motorola xoom games"... there is a review of games in honeycom
fyi, there is no usb, microsd, or hdmi port in the galaxy tab 10.1
All I can say is "I'm hooked, I'm hooked, I'm hooked!" That is just what every tablet manufacturer needs to get their tablet out. It's better than a commercial and helps answer a lot of my questions. From here on, it can only get better.

I think that if we see a kal-el in the shops before x-mass we are lucky!
Unless all those tabs show at MWC/CITA advertised and promised...well it sill be like back in 2010. Some of them will show up (in small numbers) some of them will not.
We will have few of them in with kal -el... come December/Jan and we will see Ipad3.

So after clicking one of the links on the page it brings you to a hybrid 10.1 / 7 page. Looks like a work in progress. I'd take the page with a grain of salt and just keep an eye on it. I have a Samsung epic and the same type of pages popped up on the net using both new and information from older products prior to releases going live too.

Yeah, i just removed the link. Like i said earlier, samsung seems to take old pages and use them as templates when creating new ones and puts them on the live site prematurely. They did the same thing with the Epic, its confusing so best to just wait for now.

you need to look at the codec for the audio stream if you are not getting any sound.. for example, AC3 is not supported by hardware encode.
I'd go for something else. I've had the TF for aweek and it's nothing but a headache. The browser is unreliable. It'll open new tabs when you click a link, when you wanted it in the same tab. It crashes if you try to o anything quickly, like open a tab you just closed. Tex t input (like this comment) is painfully laggy with the dock. Don't get me started on the dock. the functionkeys are silly (3 keys for screen brightness? caps lock? ) and sometimes stop working for no reason. It's a pain to get it all the way in, to the point where I thought mine was broken because I hadnt pressed it down all the way.

1. I travel a lot - The TF is quite slim and lightweight, good battery life too, ideal.
2. Tinkering/development - I'd say it's the ideal tablet on that front too, a well supported dev section.
3. Watching movies - As good as any other Android tablet by the looks of it.
4. Surfing the web - Yep, it'll do that, with flash too.
It's a well priced tablet in comparison, has some QC issues but for the price ...

Battery life is king for travelers!
From what you describe I would have thought that the extra battery life granted by the dock is a major selling point for you. I particularly like the intelligent battery handling between the dock and tablet.
Hardware performance wise I don't think you'll find a huge range of difference between the honeycomb tablets - unless 3G is important to you.
I found the easiest way to choose was to head down to the local store and try them all out. Personally I find the TF really comfortable to handle - but that comes down to personal preference.

The remote desktop software is just bad.

Never has one of these problems.
Transformer seems to be the best option all around for honeycomb. Hardware wise they are all the same

Other than the laggy and pathetic stock browser, I have no complaints with this device. Like it
So which browser is the best one to DL?
And for some reason the dock doesn't sound too appealing to me....maybe once I have it I will change my mind. Is there any other tablets with memory card slot?

I personally use Dolphin Browser. But I also love the stock browser included, very well sync'd with Google Chrome.
