A few times now I have connected my Mogul (WM6) to my computer (Vista) only to receive the error, "USB Device Not Recognized," and my device will not sync. At first I would uninstall the HTC Home Plugin and it would fix the problem but it isn't working anymore. Is there another workaround or fix for this?
Have you tried using a different USB cable?

I have tried two and both work with different devices.
I fixed my problem. I installed the update to WMDC and now that I am using 6.1 I am (for now) problem free.
hey, i seem to be having some problems making the "usb connected" pop up on my phone when i try to mount it on my computer.
i constantly have to reboot just to mount it & its getting old. anyone have any ideas how to fix it?

Only time this happened to me was when I plugged the phone in and mounted the drive. Then I opened up disk management in windows and I would get what you do. So my suggestion check your USB drivers. Uninstall all and install HTC sync 205. Check services for disk management and you may want to stop it if on.

It seems to me its a problem with CM or the kernel, I just boot into my recovery and mount the usb from there...
i'm using wired tether a lot at the moment and i routinely need to reboot get my USB connection back.
I'm not just talking about mounting the SD though, all i need is a connection and the "USB Connected" notification. if i do adb devices it doesn't find my phone.
computer is running ubuntu so it's obviously not O/S related
simple work around is to reboot, but it's still irritating.
has anyone logged it on the CM bug tracker?
a fix for this is on the CM5.08-t1 changelog, so get flashing.

When I thought I was just up to date...
I am having this problem running Complete Eclair v2.2.1 by Cannon202. Otherwise a great rom.
-bb
i keep getting the Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (723). i flashed a stock t-mobile rom, i also installed a custom t-mobile rom with extended memory, i have done task29 before installing magldr. but i still keep getting the Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (723) error. im using windows xp to flash android. does anybody no a fix or a work around for this?
EDIT: credit goes out to guinhill he pointed me to the solution. first make sure your log in name in windows has administrator rights. then before you try to flash an android rom with magldr make sure that you disable all usb connections in active sync before you attempt to flash an android rom. i now have android running beautifully on my hd2.
unchcek the "allow usb connections" in ms-activesync
not work for me :/
I get this every time I flash a ROM (I've done 3 so far and had it every time).
All I do is wait a minute or so and then run DAF again, and it works.
It looks like the USB...USB message, which suggests the USB connection is active, is a little premature.
That's what I've found anyway, and it's fixed the problem for me every time.

First leave it checked till it says
usb.....usb (mind you that will say usb on your phone...)
Once that is done go to ActiveSync and uncheck usb connections, you should be good from there.
If I helped press the thanks button

Help
Please HELP!.
It's 4 a.m and I'm on the verge of giving up. I've tried everything, uncheck USB Connections, giving administrator rights to my account.....and standing on my head. Nothing seems to work for the "Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (723) error".
I've updated the radio and HSPL as suggested, running Windows 7.
Can somebody please help, I'm desperate!

Alright People, after 12 hours straight of doing everything except chucking the HD2 out the window, this is what worked for me.
Follow all instructions listed i.e, uncheck the 'allow USB connections' in activesync, AND START TASK MANAGER AND DISABLE 'iTunes HELPER'.
It worked like a charm !.
Lemme know if it worked for you guys.
hey guys, i have problem when i plug my magic into my laptop..
it always said "usb not recognized"
i use windows 7 32-bit
i have tried to install android-usb driver but windows system can't detect the driver (android_usb.inf, androidusb.sys, androidusb86.cat, WdfCoInstaller01005.dll)
i try to change the usb cable but still doesn't work
what should i do?
Tried installing HTC sync? That usually fixes the driver problems.
Either that, or try installing HTC Sync AND THEN the USB Driver cable. That worked for me, or try the newest HTC Sync available.
WHere can I install HTC Sync from? I'm having the same issue's, I never had this problem before..
so after installing HTC Sync I'm still havng the same issue, this is the message I'm getting..
"One of the USB Divices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it." any suggestions?

I have the same problem. Both my windows 7 pc and linux netbook both used to display the magic as a mass storage device (all I need), but now neither will do it. As both fail to detect the magic I've come to he conclusion there is something missing or corrupted on the magic - probably after me pulling the usb cable too soon!
I've reinstalled the rom, ticked usb debugging etc, yet still no joy. The pc initially gave an error code 43, but now it does nothing. could somebody help please.

I tried two htc syncs, neither worked. Thats why I think its an issue related to the phone rather than the pc. Is it related to unmounting the sd/not unmounting the sd at the appropriate/inappropriate time??
All I get is:
usb not recognised - One of the USB Divices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it..... then when i click on the attached usb info it states ' Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)'
i already haved this issue its hardware issue sendit to warranty
I want to connect or root my defy but when i connect to pc its says MTP USB DRIVERS installation failed...
I am using windows 7 64 bit.
So now what can i do???
plz tell me guyz...
thanx in advance...
