It looks like Acer has updated their downloads page:
http://www.acer.com.au/ac/en/AU/content/drivers
They've added the A100, A101 and A501, but it looks like there are duplicates in there... PLUS there's a new version of Acer sync!

Dam right I am Had it for three years and it's never let me down but it's never impressed me either lol! However it does the trick but what I really want to do is stick my Iconia into a monitor via HDMI and use mouse and keyboard. Hopefully 3.1 makes it smooth enough
is the acer usb driver meant to be downloaded and installed onto a PC or directly onto the Acer A500?

I was able to get some information from Viewsonic via a direct message on twitter. Please understand, that if you ask Viewsonic about this publicly, they will more than likely deny it:

Cool.... I'll start on the ubuntu ROM....
Um why not just make it public? Things like this make me wonder...
Really hope this is legit! Then the fun can really get started!
what does this mean? does it mean the kernel will be unlocked and we can overclock? or use the 2nd core?

It means that they are going to release the Kernel Source and we can compile our own kernels.

TnT and VEGAn are both using the 2nd core as far as the devs know.

Does this mean we could finally get a "stock" Android build, with Market and everything integrated?

Market is typically disabled on all non-phone or non-3G devices by Google. That's why we have to hack a fix to make it work. Google has stated many times that they do not want marketplace on any non-phone or non-3G capable device. That might change with Android 3.0, but for now, we're stuck hacking the fix.
Ooh please let this be true. Kernel source + Froyo AOSP would make me a VERY happy camper. For that matter kernel source + TnT Lite or VEGAn would make me just as happy!

Well, that remains true as of right now.
However, barnes and noble are supposedly releasing a 2.2 + market update to their nook color in january. and for $250. that is a hell of a good deal.
I have also seen people saying they have the market and then come to find out. they didnt have it legally. but i dont thing a big wig like barnes and noble would do that.
it would seem that google is easing up on its market access. realizing that we have tablets now. and we want to fully utilize them now. not whenever 3.0 comes out.
AC had an article that the Nook won't be getting market after all, but will get 2.2.
Anyway this is great news!

The Nook will be getting a "market" but it will not be the Google Market. It will be like what Viewsonic provided for the G-Tab.

Would it be better to get the ipad if I have a macbook?
I don't see any relationship dependency between those two devices. You can get an ipad if you have a windows pc since itunes works in windows. Since you can't run ios apps on mac os, there is no reason to factor in which os your pc is running in your buying decision.

No. They don't have any special relationship, so don't use that to decide.
just watched them announce 3.1 is coming out TODAY!
NEW stretchable widgets!
USB can NOW ACT AS A HOST! = Can import photos directly to tablet
OS now supports usb keyboards/mice/game controllers/more!
**showed using a wired XBOX360 controller**
No mention of SD card support or bluetooth mouse support

Can we have an I/O thread to talk about all the particular things being announced? A major thing the emulator folks will love is the usb host capabilities with the Xbox360 controller.

There's a guide written by me here that teaches you how to transcode movies and videos with Handbrake to suitable format, or you can install MX Player or Diceplayer.

A501 is the same as A500 except that it has 3G which the A500 doesn't have.
first thenk you for the answer..

Kal-El isn't released yet but maybe it good to wait for him that i ask..
about the movies..if i can just install app to see them it's great!just to look the movies from the camera
also the a500 and 501 ..if i can connect via the usb stick it doesn't meater for me

Which you can't with the serials b70 and after due to no nvflash.
that is correct you need sbk1(B70 or lower) to install emmc ubuntu although if you want you can always run it in a virtual machine using terminal and a vnc viewer

Is there a way of running a virtual machine on my transformer? I think I've seen something like this done with Backtrack 5 on a Xoom, but I wasn't aware of any virtualization software available for Android..
So you bought an Android tablet to run Ubuntu...
Why didn't you buy a PC?

Because of the many advantages of ARM chipsets? More efficient power consumption, less heat dissipation, etc.
You could get a net book with a decent battery, an extra gig of ram and whack ubuntu on that.
The more recent atom chips or even amd's are great for that sort of thing.
Could always put a small ssd in it too.
What sort of battery life do you expect from a TF101 with ubuntu?
Asus has promised to release a tool to unlock the Transformer bootloader (at the price of voiding your warranty). When (if?) they release it, you should be able to install Ubuntu on the newer Transformers.

Yes, you will get the OTA update (whichi will remove root, if you just apply it)
BTW, I could imagine creating CWM image for ARM Ubuntu, but as far as I know, nobody did that yet, so it would be a DIY job

Some b70's can some b70's can't so it is generally said that b70's are incompatible just so that people with b70 sbk2's dont complain about things saying that something is compatable with b70 and lower
makes things easier on the devs

That makes more sense. Your OP made it sound like you specifically bought it just to run Ubuntu and didn't care about Android.

after installing in dualboot, you can switch from android to ubuntu and back as you wish...
