Hey everybody, I'm new here, Evo shift user just recently flashed to boost. I find this forum very useful but i have doubts...
I find 3G speeds are very slow
I tried messing around in the settings like changing http dp settings to 0, but havent found much improvement. I also found many settings mention sprintpcs. I know boost runs with sprint, but I was curious as if all settings should be linked to sprint after the boost flash...
So my real question is, Can anybody provide me with information and detail on settingd in their flashed-to-boost evo shift, or android?? excluding of course any compromising codes, but mostly the ## settings in general???
Any help will be much appreciated.

U might wanna ask someone on boost for their epst settings. Maybe find a thread of a phone only on boost mobile? I'm not really sure but that's all I got

try flashing the latest prl, I had to download CDMA workshop to do that, but it helped my 3g a little... us say flashing cm7 made my phone run 10x better, GPS was faster, 3g was way faster... epst settings type##data# go to edit, and the msl should be 000000 then you can edit .let me know if you need help

well the setting should be the same +/- but cant be 100% sure but tell me how you flashed it clean esn or a different way "not talked about here " and did you do it your self ??
as far as slow 3g speeds youll find its the sprint network as boost uses the same network and dont see a fix insight a lot of of people are having the same problems

Thx guys, I installed Cyanogenmod 7 speedy, only to find GPS not working at all... and cant seem to go in ## settings on this rom either.. Only if I do a recovery on my stock OS can I edit. And it was the 'forbidden way' I flashed it although IMO legit since the equipment used is all mine.
How would I go to updating PRL through CDMAW??? Also, anybody on the boost network can post their data settings here? Excluding of course the username and shared keys???

well yeah you cant get in to setting with cm kinda sucks but the rom makes up for it lol i just go to stock but i tell you what get cm7 nightly 94 i have it on my phone and everything works gps mms the only thing that dont work is 4g
i use qspt do change my prl make sure you have your phone link to computer took for forever trying to get code right ##3424#
Thx everybody for your help, eventually sold the phone and bought a galaxy prevail for boost. Works better. Doesnt matter cause in a few days I'll be getting a free Droid Charge with an employee discount plan since I work for Verizon! sweet! XD

i have my evo shift flashed to boost, everything work perfect, just the internet it's tooo slow, what you think i can do?
My 3g wit sprint sux lol maybe its just the reciever on the phone cus i cant even stream pandora or youtube low quality with 5 bars 3 g soo i dont know man lol i wanna flash it to boost cus im paying alot for something that is slow as f****

for those who may be interested...it is possible to have your hero flashed to work on the Cricket network. it may not be for everyone, but i couldn't resist the lure of $40/mo unlimited everything with no contract. (saves around $1,000+ over the life of the contract)
here's what i did:
-buy cdma hero on ebay
-go to a cricket store and ask them to activate the phone
-usually the rep will "know a guy" who can work with htc (try a few stores or call around)
-they may charge you $30 or so to flash it and its working
wireless data, visual voicemail, and mms dont' work...but they expect to get them working soon (phone is only a few weeks old at this point)... and where i'm at, i almost always have wifi and don't care about vm or mms.
Might see if any of these guys know about xda...perhaps they just need to be pointed here to share the wealth of what they're doing.

if you do transfer to cricket (or perhaps another cdma carrier), a good thing to know is:
##000000#
this will allow you to edit or view EPST (change/view your Mobile Directory Number MDN and MSID)
The MDN is your current phone number, your local cricket store can give you your MSID (which also depends on your phone number).

i think he means the regular flash as in flashing the prl not flashing a cricket rom... i cant wait for a rom that i can use on cricket... i have text n voice workin but net and mms is light years away since the phone just came out... cmon guys speed it up... ive been prayin to the cricket flashing gods to give us a saviour to answer our prayers...

The radio is separate from the OS and the traditional CDMA tools work on the Hero like any other phone. There are plenty of other forums talking about how to port CDMA phones to other providers; especially Indian forums because there are large CDMA networks there.
Edit: when he says "flash it," he probably just means to put a new PRL (preferred roaming list) and editing the details under ##DATA to match what another provider wants.

"Broadband Workaround Trick"
Hey guys!
I'm new to the Hero (CDMA Sprint flashed to Cricket) and Android. Totally new. I'm no stranger to Windows Mobile though, I've been a pretty intense user and contributor to development on the Axim x51v. Thought it was time to update though, and here I am.
Now, I've googled my butt off (which is going to make it tough to poop later, for sure), and I just can't find much detail or step by step info on how to get internet access working on this thing other than Wifi.
I have phone/text, and I also bought a Cricket Broadband plan to go along with it.
My phone is not rooted, not unlocked, unless this was part of what they did at the Cricket store to get my Hero flashed to Cricket.
I've read some mentions in google searches about a way to use my Broadband service through my phone... but I need some step by step info on how to do this. Can anyone help? What would be handy, as a somewhat savvy noob, would be prerequisites, instructions, and info I'll need to do this.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help, and I apologize in advance if I didn't google well enough before asking... although I definitely gave it a damn good shot before asking for help!
I've never tried it, so i don't know, but i have flashed a lot of WM phones to cricket with working mms and WAP. I would think you could get the internet to work by entering first changing your msl to 000000 and then just entering in all the correct settings in your EPST like you would a windows mobile phone?

the phone has built in proxy support so u can download anycut from the market and input "wap.mycricket.com" and "8080" in the proxy settings. however most of the internet apps dont work, but the browser does. i believe the broadband hack or possibly the html plan will help in getting the internet apps to work but havent tried yet
htc hero wap no working
.i have a sprint htc hero that had cellular south on it now its flashed to cricket.the only thing working is calling.can you walk me through getting internet.i belive my wap setting are set up,but when i try and connect to mobile network it says "standbye for connecting to mobile network then connecting and keeps repeating"i have read that iv got to root the phone.iv been trying to root with no success.and hepl please .ty

Has anyone else had there hero say invalid sim card when rebooting?
Mine goes away and then "sprint"replaces it.
Im curious because whenever i try and and do internet sharing i get Error Code 67 Registration failure pcs vision username and/or password may be incorrect.
I have no idea if these two problems are related very confusing...
I called sprint and got my MSL code and did a user name reset then profile and prl update.(not sure if its the same as MSL reset)
Also could it be my PRI?

i noticed this today for the first time.... my phone all of a sudden had a ton of force closes then rebooted and during the reboot process i saw the invalid sim card display... weird
and im on dc 2.0.7.2 with the treve jit mod
invalid sim is normal, internet sharing doesnt work on the 1.70 pri.

I use android eclair stock screen (thanks flips) it always says that for like 2 seconds then says.sprint. Everything works perfect for me.... I think its normal

Invalid SIM is normal on Fresh, I think it's because of his AutoPRI script on boot up, but I can't recall why specifically it does it.
If you are running Flipz_PRI then you really can't tell what you should be at.
If internet sharing doens't work for you, then you are likely on 1.70_003.
As far as I know there is no way of spoofing a PRI to get MNS to work. However you could call sprint and ask reallllly nicely to give you MNS, maybe the support rep will be in a good mood.

Im guessing this costs extra? if so ill stick with the wireless teatehr for root users unless someone can suggest a better solution
flashing an Eris ROM will break your pri. Fresh will automagically fix it again though.
edit: breaking your pri will enable wired tethering.

Easytether or PDANet in the market. I have used PDANet my self, but it honestly kind of sucks. Not the speeds or anything, but because you can't let a big download go for a while because it will randomly drop the connection. Which I think is just a design flaw, not necessarily a problem for general browsing.
I am not even sure if easy tether works on our phone.
There are a few apps in the market that want you to setup an OpenVPN connection on your laptop and use it to connect to the phone and use its data connection, but that seems overly cumbersome for what you are trying to accomplish.
i think this is an issue on most 2.1 roms. this is why we need the final released. doesn't hurt anything, it's more of an eye sore for a minute until the sprint text loads.
I was gunna say. I think its on most 2.1 roms. Maybe because we still have bits and pieces from the GSM hero like we did on 1.5. I would say its gunna be fixed in the official like fixxxer said.
ok good because i was considering flashing back to a 1.5 fw, reseting my MSL updating my profile and prl, then flashing back to a 2.1fw.
Sense this stuff is normal i'll quit complaining and wait for the official rom to be release and moded by this great fourm.

Hello all! Its 'That Guy' Again
I recently bought a new HTC Vogue because my old one had *crud*crap*Stuff* on the screen. I called into Sprint customer service as always when swapping.
Everything seems to be fine. The phone is working. Texting is a-ok.. Data is a no-go.
This new Vogue ahs not been *modded*Tweaked*Flashed* (yet)
However when I launch an app to activate the provisioning feature, nothing happens. It dials the usual #777 and proceeds with the 'provisioning data services" msg. But after that it just disappears.
I dont not get a reply back or anything. If I try to refresh the browser to loop through it once more it just does the same thing over and over. Provisioning-----Then nothing
After 2 hours with customer service at Sprint we have gone through just about everything we could think of.. Still nothing.. The phone is practically brand new! Is there something im missing here? Maybe a bug in a certain version of the stock rom?
My old vogue provisioned fine previously and after I flashed to Froyo it was pure bliss.. However this phone will not take the data onnection O-o
If there is anything I can do/attempt to do id be forever greatful! And ill gladly donate my old Vogue to anyone who can use the parts.. It looks like super glue or something in a 3cm patch on the touch screen.. It still recognizes touch on ALL parts of the matrix, it just doesnt look pretty. The shell is kinda scuffed but over the phone works perfect =) This was one phone I didnt want to (ORD) to death.. Thanks in advance to anyone who gives insight on the issue!

I am not certain of what the Sprint rep asked you to do, but I have a feeling that your issue lies in the EPST programming. You are likely missing username and/or passwords under the Connections section in EPST. Give it a go and let me know what happens. If you need instructions, let me know as well...
I would be glad to take your old Vogue off your hands if you are serious about giving it away.
Sorry for the lateness! I did discover that she(the rep) had seriously messed up the epst settings in the phone, however after recovery still no data. Its almost as if the phone hates it lol. Eitherway in that case its not as useful as it could be. Ill really only bought the second one because it was new and i wanted the screen to be scratchless I dont mind sending you my old Vogue especially since youre already on the east coast lol ill log in again when i get back to the office and we can swap details.

There really are 3 or four things on EPST that you need to modify to get the device working properly (in most cases anyways): MIN, MDN, Username, Password, and maybe a couple of others to get better performance out of your connection (cycle, priority, etc). If you flash to stock, why don't you try to do *228 to do automatic provisioning?

Only thing that pops in to my mind is that maybe you bought the phone off of eBay? Was it a "Sprint" branded phone, or like an Alltel or something that you activated on Sprint? I would imagine flashing the Sprint ROM from the HTC website would handle everything, but just as a shot in the dark, you could try to install the Carrier CAB (http://winbreak.com/winmo/voguegoodies) for Sprint.

It is branded Sprint and they activated the phone just fine as far text and phone. They are saying the data is active however no matter what rom/radio i use it wont access the data network. With WinMo it always says provisioning data but it never happens.. the browser goes idle. if i try to access any data apps it tries to provision but never seems to finish the job.. Android rom same deal just no provision of course. And as you know the Stock Sprint rom has also been flashed with no success of accessing data. Everything else works fine and i have the same service with my current vogue which works perfectly everytime.
If the data issue cant be resolved it will always make an awesome test device.. However, while I cant dig up anyone else having the issue, someone is bound to..

Whatever is causing this, after reading your explanation, now I am positive is in the EPST programming parameters. Android builds here have APNs for Sprint in there out of the box (no provisioning required). But to connect, it looks at the PST programming (just like WM does). I would try to speak with someone else at Sprint and see if they tell you something else. There aren't too many things that should be modified in there for the internet to work...
so a friend of mine wants me to flash his continuum to cricket. can n e one tell me how to connect it to QPST??? thx. ive already used google, ppcgeeks, here of course, &hc.
You need to put the phone in modem mode.. It is in settings.
Tell him to sell it. Only talk and text work. Ppp configs revert back to verizon so three g won't work.
And it's not called modem mode. It's Dial up networking.

The only thing that differs from say, flashing it to a droid 2 global, is getting the phone connected to qpst initially..

I've looked for guides and so far have not found any for the continuum flashed to cricket on 2.1 update 1. I know how to use qpst and I've programed it onto my NV items and it states 7 written but isn't it suppose to say 12? But otherwise I have talk and text but haven't figured out internet or mms. So if someone can point me where I have to go and I will be glad to do it. Thank-you. Z
That's because there are none xP as I was saying, you can use pretty much any of the guides for any android phone...
And I am not sure, but doesn't the internet settings hide under the m.ip tab in qpst? I don't know...
I remember though, there is a file you are supposed to set up so that it automatically sets up a proxy out something xP
What you need is to talk to someone who got it to work xP but I highly doubt you'll find that person xP

so, i was with cricket using an evo 4g.
I flashed the phone, (also 3 droids x2, and a thunderbolt for different people, btw friends and family).
Right now Im working on a area where cricket hardly covers.
I found out on ebay about the verizon prepaid unlimited... saw the videos... I thought i could do it, but my months with cricket was up and couldnt bear it anymore.
I contacted a local guy and .. i had to pay for the verizon flash. Being out of time and working long hours didnt give a chance to find out by myself.
(actually somehow i messed with the phone and i ended up roaming all the time, and when i asked that guy for the prl (wich i found out to be straightalk) he female doged me a lot, after several messages of being nice to him and convincing him that i simply needed a few kb file, he sent it, and I got it back to regular speed)
(he also didnt set me up with mms, i came here until i finally got it)
Anyways I'm really happy with verizon , it's really fast , 20mb in less than 2 minutes!!!, wow!!,,, BUT the evo its pretty messed up, and I got in my hands an S2 from sprint.
Now I simply want to take the info off the evo and put it into the galaxy s2,
But the only problem that i see ,is that the EVO does not have a DMU key file!!!
I checked in dfs and qpst
And i always check, double check, google and hours and days go by until i ask for help.So i honestly dont wan to pay him again, to connect a phone and copy paste the settings, and as i mentioned before hes not that savy, he couldnt enter diag mode in my evo, because i had go dial, and he freaked and installed another rom, see what i mean???? he couldnt get into diag mode!
So I doubt this guy has everything organized and pretty to have files and info for the phone he does, but even if he is, i dont even want to see him.
So another question is, how is the evo working in vz without a dmu key file?

i saw on the myverizon webpage an option to change device, it simply asks you for a new meid, i simply get a new meid and flash it.to a 3g verizon, right?
Fashed galaxy s 2 without DMU key!!
So , I ordered a cheap 3g vz phone. It's gonna take some time to arrive, so I decided to pre-flash the s2.
I started with DFS doing the meid, data and user profiles.
I found out I had voice n text .
then tried messing with the setting on the phone tru data menu , no go, tried apnbackup , it was not possible either.
looking at my evo settings in DFs, reading and re-reading the guide, I noticed in DFS where you put the AAA and HA passwords below there are two DMU value boxes, and the evo pictures had some numbers on it.
so i re-reflashed the phone doing the nv items file, couple of OTA programming and setting the profiles in qpst again until i got 1x data speed,
so i re-did everything over and over and this last time I click in DFS , THE WRITE CURRENT PROFILE SETTINGS button, in the two profiles and entered the DMu values over and over.
And it worked, but before that i was on rooted xx13 rom and then upgraded ota, but it messed up the flash, so before flashing for the last time, i simply wiped everything and installed latest rom rooted.
I got decent speeds and mms is solved by using go sms, (theres 2 places where you put the vzw address) and trying to go into the data menu on the phone didnt work. And for you tube I did the 0.0.0.0 trick, but it doesnt show the zeroes, only the sprint proxies. but youtube works regardless.
