Yesterday I FINALLY received my new G2. Playing around with the device I was very excited at It's functionality and performance. I did get unlucky enough to receive one with loose hinges, but they didn't seem that big of a deal to me.
However, after owning the device for only 8 hours, I tried a little angry birds and setup Galactic Core live wallpaper. I flipped the keyboard open and noticed that the wallpaper disappeared to a black background. Hmmm, fairly odd. Closed the keyboard and still bring it back. Attempted to re-apply the wallpaper which didn't work either. I was getting ready to power cycle the phone when it turned itself off.
Tried pressing the power button and opening the keyboard. Nothing. Tried taking the battery out and then attempting to power the device on. Nothing. Tried plugging in the power cable to both the AC charger and a USB port on my PC. Nothing. Tried swapping the battery with the demo model at work. Nothing. I don't get any sound, vibration or even so much as a charging LED out of the device. I've pressed about every button and the device is non responsive.
So with all of the G2 bugs of this nature I am reading about (People with the same issue except theirs turns back on after a battery pull), is there a trick I'm unaware of or is this thing DOA?
DOA means dead on arrival, yours clearly wasn't dead when you received it , just call tmo and have them exchange you for another one.

Gee, thank you for the sarcastic response.
This is probably a dumb question, but does the battery have any charge left in it? You could try plugging into the charger, waiting a couple of minutes, then trying to turn it on. Past that, I think the only solution would be to have TMO send you a new one.
If you can't even get the charging LED to come up then I would gather you've got a dud phone (hey, it can happen). I assume you'd let it sit there in attempts to charge the phone?
Just for curiosity's sake, have you tried plugging it into a computer?
If all else fails, just go back to T-Mo and exchange it for another one.
Maybe try holding volume down and power for the recovery mode?

Just bought my 9 yr old the Iconia A500, after charging for the first time as suggested for 4 hours it will no longer take a charge, I touch any of the apps and it goes back to the home screen. I can't even register the thing because it would not stay on the registration screen. This problem I was told has to do with the screen/time/whatever but I can't reset the screen because it won't stay on that setting long enough to do so. Has anyone else had problems with keeping a charge or charging period? That is the problem Charging it won't go pass 12%. I finally just turned it off. Frustrated!

Return it while you still have time. Most places offer at least a 14 day return policy. No reason it should be doing that.
Mine is doing the same
I also bought this for my 9 year old. He has been using it less than a week and it was working great. Yesterday it did an update and now it is not working. It freezes at the lock screen and won't let you get past it. My battery is also stuck at 12% after being plugged in all night. I tried the reboot and get the android with the yellow triangle. I tried the reset and nothing. I tried the hard reset (volume+ and power and toggle the screen lock) it turns on to a screen that is black, has the home button on the bottom as usual but you can't do anything. Then if you turn it off and back on, it says shutting down. Been like that for the past 4 hours now without shutting down. I did contact Acer and they were no help after getting me to this point. Even though my son has only had this less than a week I actually bought it at the beginning of December so I'm passed the 15 day return policy. Any suggestions on how to fix this besides giving it to my 2 year old to use as a frisbie and going out to buy my son the iPad?
Contact acer again and get it repaired or replaced under warranty.

My original generation Tablet updated to ICS yesterday morning. The unit is 100% stock, no rooting, etc. ICS seemed to work well, and I used it a few times with no issue, but this morning I put it into sleep mode for about 2 hours and now it refuses to do anything but flash the ee Pad opening screen up over and over. I tried removing the microSD card, pushing the power button for >30 seconds, plugging it into the AC adapter, attaching it to the fully charged dock, plugging the dock into power - nothing works. The only problem I've ever had with the unit was the power button breaking at the start, which was repaired after being RMA'd to Asus. This may just be a coincidence but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen? Also, any ideas on what else I could possibly try before calling Asus and getting an RMA? This is getting to be a bit insane. I have multiple other gadgets including a NookColor, iPad, Acer W500, etc. and I have never had a piece of electrical equipment give me as much problem as this Asus. Hopefully this is just a lemon and not an indication of their general build quality!
I have the same problem. Stock version.
add me to the list!
completely stock. updated successfully to ICS yesterday.
it booted ok this morning but then i got a forced-reboot in opera -- while viewing this forum, ironically -- and since then no boot. it stays stuck on the EeePad splash loading screen.
i've tried docking it, charging it, booting while plugged-in etc. nothing works.
where to now? can i force a factory reset using some key combination?
EDIT: SUCCESS! phew! i finally got it to boot by holding the power button in for 10s on the stuck splash screen. the battery on the TF was very low (it seemed to discharge very fast last night on standby --wifi off -- that's another issue) so perhaps that was it (strange though as it's docked, and the dock is fully-charged). i'm going to do a factory reset today and re-install everything.
Same problem in my transformer

We are hosed. At this point I have to believe that it is the update, although I guess it is possible that it is an interaction between ICS and some app that the other posters and I have.. I don't have anything unusual on it though, just the Asus stuff, one note, netflix, pandora, that type of stuff. I called the wonderful Asus support number which basically had me do what I had done before, plus trying the reset (small pin hole next to the hdmi out) three times - no help again. I also tried to see if my laptop would see it - no go. Now it's RMA time once again. This probably isn't the time for it but if someone wants to buy a 32gb 40 series Transformer with dock and case nows the time to make me an offer. As soon as I get it back this puppy is going onto eBay. It may just be a lemon, bad luck etc. but having to RMA an item twice that barely gets any use has just turned me off Asus. By the way, the power was about 60% when it went into sleep mode and it just stayed on sleep for about 2-3 hours, so if the battery drain is that huge in sleep mode there's a massive problem.
Same problem here after a few hours of sleep. Asus logo flashing on and off. Power and vol down til reboot worked. Battery really took a hit.

That's not a reset switch... that hole is for the microphone.
That's hilarious! That's what the "service rep" told me it was and he had me push in there 3 times - even though I couldn't feel any "switch" in there! Now on top of a dead unit (after the power died it simply won't respond even though I recharged it in the hopes that it would start up again) the mike is probably busted. No big deal, the RMA is already set up, but this thing is spending more time at the Texas repair center than it is being used!
Before you RMA give this a try.
Go to the Asus download site ( http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pad_Transformer_TF101/#download ) and download the latest firmware (8.6.5.21) for your region(WW US TW ). If you dont see your country there it is probably WW.
Take this file and unzip it on your computer.
Copy the ASUS directory to a Microsd card
Take the file in the /asus/update folder and copy it to the root directory of your microsd
Rename the file(update launcher) in the root of your microsd to EP101_SDUPDATE
insert microsd to tab and reboot to recovery (power and volume down wait till you see words in the top left corner and press volume up)
Give this a try. maybe it will help get you back working ( athough it will be in honeycomb)
you can then try to update again( if you want)
Sorry if i double posted (browser is a little wierd still)
It's. The One Note app. MS is trying to sabotage. Hahaha
Updated yesterday, used it pretty much all day. Woke up this morning.. bricked. fml

Did you get it to boot? I'm in the same boat updated to ICS, all stock. Used it till drained and the screen hasn't woken up since. Recognized in both ADB and APX modes. It's been sitting pretty on the charger for more than 24hrs and tried all possible power button combinations..

nope I sent it in for repair.
Just a quick update. When I got my Transformer back from RMA they had wiped out everything, put in a "factory fresh" ICS and it appeared to be working - since I was at work I did nothing whatsoever with it except make sure it could connect to wifi, I did not enter my google account, install any apps, etc. - totally stock system. I noticed that the power level was at 75%. I turned it off totally (not sleep). When I got home four hours later I tried to turn it on - dead. Tried all the usual stuff, plugging it in to the AC adaptor, power for 10, power for 30, power and volume down - zilch. Called Asus rep. and RMA's it AGAIN. I carefully included a long letter explaining that if they simply wiped and replaced it again could they please turn the thing off, leave it for an hour and try to turn it back on. Apparently no one in Texas reads these things, since I got an email from an Asus rep. saying they had found nothing wrong with it. I told him what was going on and he said he would pass it on to the repair center. That was over a week ago and it is still "in repair" so who knows what's going on. I've purchased a Samsung Tab and don't really care what happens with the Transformer (no offense, I know that many of you have been lucky with yours but mine has been so unrealiable that I no longer trust it for anything besides games) but I am curious as to what's going on here. Most units seem to just have random reboots or other problems, but can always be rebooted. A few like the ones on these threads however, seem to totally die.
Been on ICS from day one with no real issues. Last night the tablet had been on battery for a couple of days it had about 75% left. I was checking it to my Galaxy 10.1 and trying to figure why once in a while they woke to the lock screen for no reason. I check the TF as my son said he was unable to view youtube videos and found it working fine then I a game he had loaded and I put it to sleep. I woke this morning and the TF was dead. I tried to reboot but no go. I plugged it in and after a couple of minute it I was able to turn it on. Once on I unplugged and saw the battery had completely drained and the TF immidiately turned off. So I plugged it in again and its presently charging. Any clues?
Thats just the normal RR/SOD, which often causes the TF to get stuck in a bootloop, draining the battery.
Welcome to ICS.

Yes, go back to Honeycomb
just got the email that theyre fedexing it back to me.. hopefully it wont brick again. i wish theyd include what the hell happened..
Wish you the best. After I told them what happened they've been "repairing" the unit for about 2 weeks - whereas the last time they had it in "repair" for a day before they sent it back. I think that a quick "repair" means that they reflash the unit, which in my case promptly rebricked the first time it was shut down. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
I switched to Android 4.4 and completely wiped my phone and switched to KitKat past Thursday evening (11/14), and it automatically downloaded my previous apps.
Problem is that my Nexus 4 is overheating to up to 139F after I switched to ART and letting it idle for a few ... up to 10 minutes. It did get really hot when doing the optimization when initially switching to ART, but eventually it cooled down. While setting up my e-mail, facebook, and other accounts it was running at about 110-120F, and I didn't think much of it, I was doing a lot of multitasking and setting up a lot of stuff. After letting it sit for a few minutes and coming back to it, it was searing hot at 135F+ (Measured using Battery Widget Reborn) and just idling with all apps closed.
Now, the problem is that whenever I try to do something the phone just turns off. Even charging it while off doesn't seem to reduce temperature. And it turns off (possible due to heat?) after turning on in a few minutes. I knew this isn't due to low battery since I have 30%+ battery.
Finally, after an hour of leaving the N4 turned off and charging, I turned it on only to get no response at all. Reconnecting to my AC Adapter on yielded a solid red LED. I have tried to hold the power button >60 secs. I tried holding vol up and power button for 60 secs. I tried all three buttons for >60secs. I pretty much tried every steps I could find on XDA/Google. So, I called Google and they were ready to RMA the device.
Afterwards, I stumbled on this thread that advised to open it up and apply voltage/current to the battery itself; however, when opening it up and disconnecting the battery I managed to somehow rip the connector off the battery... I'm stupid, I know. Now, I have a pending RMA request with Google and they have sent me an e-mail to confirm I want a replacement, but I can't send mine back with a messed up battery.
Also, at the time of failure I had LTE Hybrid Radio, unlocked bootloader, and Root/SuperSU installed. And now the battery connecter is ripped off.
I am thinking I will buy a $30 battery from Amazon and send it back like that for the RMA. Can I please get some advice on this?
Will Google refuse me a RMA based on the Hybrid Radio/Root? I can't undo any of those since my device won't power on.
I appreciate any help. Thanks guys.
if they see that u unlocked bootloader = NO RMA.
Is that really the case? I've heard multiple reports of people successfully getting RMAs for unlocked bootloader phones?
EDIT: It can't even be powered on at this point, though.
Hi guys,
Had the nexus 6p for 14 month just 2 month after the warranty expires.
I tried press power botton for 30sec no work.
power+vol down no work.
plug into my computer still no work.
I called huawei and they simply telling me they can't fix this problem and they will not fix anything that is out of warranty. This is strange and funny..
I have my credit card as my extended warranty but they need prove that either an estimate of the repair cost or a statement saying the phone can't be fixed.
I am going crazy right now since my local shops would do me a favor getting me any statement. Huawei on the other hand won't even sent me an email...
any suggestions?
thanks
Try pressing the power button for 2-3 minutes.
You can also connect the phone to a wall outlet with the cord that came with the phone overnight. That and holding down the power button for an extended period of time seems to revive some 6Ps that appear to be dead. Huawei won't help you because these phones are dying like flies shortly after they are a year old, but the problem is usually a permanent boot loop that comes out of nowhere rather than the phone not powering on.

Let me try plug in for 12 hours
tried 12 hours and still can't turn on.
Any more suggestions? One shop quoted me $345 for replacing the motherboard.

I bought a used 32GB for $160.00 when mine went into bootloop of death. Don't get it repaired. Go buy another used one for cheaper price. When I get my Nexus 6P replacement ship back to me fromHuawei , you can buy it if you want as I don't need two phones.
In the past this issue was solved for many users when they press the power button continously for 4-5 mins.Maybe a problem with power button.
