I sbf'd my phone to the stock gb sbf because I kept having so many issues getting the ota to download but now when I power on, hold power and home, it goes to the recovery but the symbol goes from arrow and a box to the triangle and exclamation. Any idea what went wrong and what I can do to fix?

When that pops up just push the home button or the search button and that should go away

Thats what I thought but no go unless im supposed to wait a few minutes.

I just did it to get a positive answer and I had to push the volume up and down keys at the same time

I just did the same. I could have sworn it was the search button though.

The search button was for froyo recovery, since you flashed gb, you have to do vol up+vol down

Slightly old thread, but I'm a noob and I want to contribute...
Download problems with OTA were probably because you had root, and you didn't properly unroot (happened to me, z4root didn't delete superuser.apk)
GB seems (to me) to check for extra stuff in /system/, like superuser.apk
SBF back to stock froyo, which removes all traces of root, then get OTA.
the vol up + vol down fixed it for me to.
thanks
was trying search and power...

Hello,
Sorry to ask this question but I am desperate. I installed ryans oclf one click lag fix and everything was fine. accidentally I clicked the kernel portion which I shouldnt have. After I did that, phone wouldnt go pass the reboot section so I decided to do the unbrick instructions using odin.
Everything is fine and finishes the flash but when it reboots, the tombile sign shows up and galaxy s and after awhile the screen would just turn dark but the keys below lights up. I followed the instructions and I donf know why I cant go back to stock.
Please help. Learned my lesson big time.

Im going to help you out on this one, you need to flash this PDA file with odin EUGENE373_SamsungS_Froyo_PDA along with the PIT 512 you should still have from the unbrick instruction odin forum then after you flash those files you need to let it do its thing it will prob take you to recovery just long press the power button and when it turns off put the usb back in the phone to get it into Download mode(just get back into download mode any way you know how) and then follow those instructions you did earlier with the unbrick instructions using odin.
Ok...i will try that right now. I really hope this work.

It should work man, the buttons prob won't work in recovery after you do the first flash so thats why I said to just hold that power down it will power the phone down then plug the usb back in then while holdin the volume up and down then hit power this should get you into download mode then just flash the stock vibrant rom for odin or you could use mini kies and get the Ji6 stock update from samsung

Hi there, I got my Transformer about a week ago and the Powerbutton was somehow not ok, it took some power to lock/unlock screen etc yet i didnt really care. now it wont function at all (to turn it of i had to push it against a damn wall).
So i understand its a problem with the button and not the software and I want to go and replace it, problem is that two days ago i flashed modaco's rom. is there any way to return to STOCK WITH the broken powerbutton? how can i go to recovery in that case anyways?
also, maybe i can remap the button to "both volume buttons pressed" or something of the sort?
thanks in advance!
Connect to pc/mac with the android sdk install. Send these commands to it.
Adb reboot recovery
Or
Adb reboot.... It will reboot hold down volume button and it should go into recovery.

I see, now remains the problem of how to flash it to stock firmware.
I think you can put the stock update zip on the root of your sd card and flash it in recovery.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
But the problem is when choosing what to do in recovery mode. The choice is made by pressing the power button.
When you reboot into honeycomb with the update on the root of the card you should get a notification of a system update. Try that.

Are you sure it safe to just apply an update on a custom ROM? I don't wont it completely bricked.
Oh your rooted. Didn't know that. Kinda don't know now.

Flash the attachment, reboot your device. This will give you stock recovery
Next you need to download one of the FOTA update (any version will do) from ASUS's site and rename it EP101_SDUPDATE.zip and put it in the root of your MicroSD. Now you need to boot into recovery and press volume up within 5 seconds so it'll flash the recovery ROM.
So I ran soft .602 like I have a few time before already. This time I'm on the red Droid eye loop. I can't even access the phones recovery. Is the phone fully bricked?

Recovery is a tad different on the new kernel. You still use HOME & POWER until you get the ! triangle, but then press both volume Up & Down at the same time.
Once you get into recovery mode. Do a factory reset and you'll be set

Hey guys.
Sooooo sorry if i am missing something obvious.. Im trying to do a backup after a fresh rooted .605 from Tom Tools thread.
Rooted fine. (see superuser)
Downloaded Rom Manager
Clicked Flash Clockworkmod Recovery
Chose Droid X
Said it did
Reboot into recovery just boots back to the OS.
Is there something between here and there I need to do?
just downloaded bootstrapper for droidx....now it boots to a black screen.

You must use Droid 2 Bootatrapper instead of the Droid X version.

ok thanks. got that , got into recovery... now the camera button doesnt (or any other button) select an option. i can just toggle up and down using vol keys
looks like my camera button is broken and I just called to find out my warranty expires in 6 days! I'm not usually a lucky person so that is pretty lucky for me
Will revisit this with the new phone
ok so this might have to be a new thread but.
I unrooted since it will be going back on Monday.
I need to get rid of SU and from what i read i have to sbf or use maderstcok - OTA 2.3.340 update.zip
Both guides NEED the camera button......
Is there another way?

You shouldn't need the camera button to SBF.

If on Gingerbread, holding both volume keys and pressing the power button gets you into bootloader mode. I believe it's different if you're on Froyo.

that worked... sbf'ing as i type this.
Currently my phones volume rockers do not work. I've been running on an old ROM that seems to be slowing down, requiring me to reboot more frequently. I'd really like to update to a newer ROM, but I'm worried if I have any issues I can't force my phone into recovery with the power button + volume down combo.
I am very close to just doing an insurance claim on this though. I have a crack on the bottom right of my phone too. That way I can hop on the T-Mobile Jump program
Adb reboot recovery
will let you get into recovery without using the volume buttons.
There are also several apps that will let you reboot directly to the recovery if your already rooted
Such as quick boot (reboot)

I think I was more worried about if my ROM install didn't go well and it won't boot all together. Before I could still just go into recovery and re-install. If that happens now? adb recovery?
Hmm. Thinking more. As long as a rom boots you are ok. But if you got stuck at a boot loop before you can use adb, you are screwed

Unfortunately I do not believe there is a way to boot into recovery without the volume buttons unless you are booted into the system. Have you considered restoring to stock and trying for a warranty replacement?
Look above.
