Following installation of CyanogenMod 7.1.0 RC1
Original vodafone rom of 1.6 allowed HTC Sync, removed HTC sync from device and its automatically reinstalled it when using the usb connection cable.
However i only get a usb storage mode, not a 'HTC Sync'
Any ideas probably something really stupid (had the phone for 24 hours so be gentle)
Will
HTC Sync is a HTC Program that will only work with the stock ROM, because once flashed, your device won't have any HTC software. It's like if you wanted to use HTC sync with a non-HTC android phone
If you want a good sync software then take a look at MyPhoneExplorer. I have used that over a year now
I'm having the same problem with Htc sync . I have called HTC about the problem we done everything we could do the error said could not find HTC Sync on computer , I'm running windows vista . Micorsoft sync can't find the phone at all . Any help !
HTC Sync
I gave the my phone explor thing a go that didn't find the phone . How ever the other problem is about the rom . This is something that could maybe the problem when the update or a update that came over the air in the passed month .
The other day , I was on the phone with , HTC for over 1 hour . The support staff couldn't even get there sync program to work and this is after a factory reset . And downloading other sync software and those failed .

Hi All,
failry new memeber when it comes to posting but have been using you guys as an essential source of bugfixing, problem solving and general HTC MDA advice since my TYTN.
I have spent sometime searching but not been able to find anyone with an issue similar to mine.
So heres the thing, recently exchanged my TYTN for a TouchHD and overall extremely impressed with both the handset and dev work done on here already.
I am running Dutty's 1.7 rom coupled with Radio ROM 1.09.25.35 all has been working and syncing wonderfully, however today when i try to sync up to my laptop to upgrade the radio to 1.10.25.25 i cannot get the darn thing to connect to activesync at all.
I am running XP SP3 and activesync 4.5 (again successfully until today)
I am using a non HTC USB lead which i know is generally a no no, however i sync'd up my kaiser with this lead for over a year and have been successfuly syncing my HD until today. I have tried an alterante USB lead just in case, again one with which i had no issue on the Kaiser.
I have tried to sync with the firewall on and off, also with my AntiVirus on and off
I have tried disabling Start_settings_USB-PC "enable faster data sync" to no avail.
I have tried the cusomary uninstall and reinstall of a fresh MS downloaded Activesync again no joy.
When I connect my HD to the pc and select connection type "Disk Drive" it recognises it instantly and allows me to browse the microSD card
When i connect with connection type "ActiveSync" it opens activesync, and displays connecting for smoe time and then decides it can't connect and offers me a diagnostic scan.
I have run the scan and saved the log file for information.
so basically the laptop can see my HD, activesync recognises a device has been connected via USB but refuses to finalise the connection. Oh obviously i have tried the "connect all using the connection" setting in activesyn on the HD as well. Figure the more i can tell you about what i have and havent done now the more time it saves you guys.
Its almost as if a process or service has been stopped or deleted on the device but i am buggered if i can figure if or what that maybe.
Any help appreciated guys. Obviosuly i will as a matter of course re-attempt all the above with the official HTC USB cable when i get home, but honestly dont see this being the issue considering the history of effectiveness of these cables.
I look forward to a flurry of interesting responses for me to try. Big thanks to all those who have made my WM PDA experience spot on to date.
Dboy
Update as promised.
Have got home and tried to connect using the HTC cable but still no joy.....
What could possible have gone wrong ?
No one any ideas ??
Hello,
I got a very similar issue, after some investigation I found out that it was my calendar causing this strange connection behavior.
Please do the following test,
1. delete your phone in active sync
2. reconnect your phone with the PC using the USB cable
3. When it asks for the synchronizing options (by default contacts, calendar,E-mail, favorites & M office one Note are ticked), REMOVE the tick of the calendar.
4. After finishing the setup wizard the synchronizing process will run as expected
So in my case I'm having trouble with the calendar, why ? I don't know but maybe someone else might have an explanation.
Good Luck
I encountered similar problems with ActiveSync previously but it was solved not via a soft/hard reset of my HD, but after I reboot my PC. Hope this can help you.
Note: I rarely shutdown or restart my laptop. I simply leave it to hibernate.
Reset HD Touch to get syn again.
One day could sync next day could not.
In the end did soft reset of phone all OK now.
Think the problem is I took a photo and it took ages to save it?
Thinking of put small hole in case so I can do a soft reset without the pain of unclipping cover. Any thoughts.
I like a few others were having an issue with htc sync, not syncing.
Well I found a work round without a lot of hassle.
Install latest htc sync version 204.
I unmounted my memory card. ( not sure you have to mind)
Pluged usb lead into phone and pc and run htc sync as Administrator by right clicking on the icon.
Htc still did not work. I then used the pull down menu on the hero from the top of the screen and there it says sync phone. I did just that and it worked and I was able to update my tmobile g2 to the latest firmware release.
Hope this helps you guys out.
My version of vista is ultimate 64bit.

So ... I'm SO happy that i've got Android to work on my phone. Everything is working very well, and I see that I'm having the same issues as others are having, i.e. battery life and choppy phone calls.
My problem though pertains to me not being able to sync to active sync on my computer. It says error when it goes to install the driver. I'm using windows 7 active sync.
Also, another problem i'm having is i can't open up astro anymore. After about 4 days installing Android, it says "error" and force closes the program.
Anyone can help me?
Thanks
ActiveSync is good only for WinMo phones.
Under Android sync is different. You can sync your phone online with a Google acc if you have.
+1: ActivSync = WM only
On my Sense version I use HTCSynch.
Works really fine on W7 x64 with Outlook 2010 x86.
For Astro, just try to uninstall/reinstall (if not in build)
HTC Sync not working on my builld. I have the darkstone HD2Froyo V3 (26-October-2010) version installed an everything works, including wifi and phone audio. But I have not been able to get HTC Sync to work. I also tried a program called Android Manager WIFI that does pretty much the same thing using WIFI instead of USB. Neither of the programs would allow me to connect the PC to HD2. The USB File transfer works fine. Any suggestions?
I've had my device since Tuesday and I'm loving the experience so far with the exception of this one problem - HTC Sync. I've searched this forum but couldn't find a solution. Basically I've installed the latest version of HTC Sync which installs fine on win7 64bit, however when I connect my phone to my PC, I need to manually run HTC sync and then it sits on the version screen saying that it's updating the HTC library. About 15mins later, I get the device screen were I can then select my device and what I want to sync. At the moment I just simply want to sync a few of my WM playlists (everything else syncs fine via google, FB etc). I managed to do this once and it took nearly an hour to sync 65 mp3.
It doesn't seem like anyone else is having this problem but it could be that I've got a setting on my phone that is incorrect. Thinking that it might be my 8gig storage card, I formatted it and started a fresh (all original content was backed up first). This had no effect. Surely it's not going to take hours to sync my phone every single time?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
Hey,
I'm trying to use ShiftRR to root my phone (in the development area).
I installed HTC Sync and successfully synced my phone. Once it's synced, I open ShiftRR and then I get a message telling me the sync isn't working anymore and that I need to disconnect and reconnect my phone after 10 seconds.
Anybody get this? How do I get around it?
Thanks.
EDIT: Managed to root while the phone was connecting to HTC Sync really quickly...
Lucky I guess.
you need to download htc sync then delete just htc sync the application..
i guess shiftrr needs some of the software but not htc sync, find out more at wowmobilestorm.com its this guy who took it off xda which might piss some ppl off
