Alright guys after having a problem with my first Atrix, it was unfixable, but it was okay because I got myself a replacement.
So I got home and plugged it into the Wall Charger for an hour and it charged to 100%.
After that I plugged it into my computer, I was surprised that the phone just shut itself straight off. I ignored it and turned it back on. I then noticed that the phone could not sync to my computer no matter what I did. It doesn't even charge, like my first one. It does however show a solid green led. My first Motorola synced right away when I plugged it into my computer.
Are these phones really this defective? I'm probably going for another phone if I can't fix this one. Any help guys? Nothing was installed on the phone except my blur account. I have Moto Media Link and Helper installed on my Windows.
Do you have the latest and greatest USB drivers installed for the Atrix?
I believe this may be your problem!
I got them here.
http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-...tware_and_Drivers/USB-and-PC-Charging-Drivers
I did not download the PC Charging Drivers though.
Edit: How is it possible that I get two defectives in a row?
I always talk **** about my iPhone and now I take it all back. Haha. Seems like whenever something goes wrong with my iPhone I can always just hard reset it or restore it and it's good as new. This phone seems unfixable even after factory resets and battery removal trick.
The phone is now showing the same symptoms as my old phone and it's just an matter of time before the battery runs out and the phone is left nonchargeable. The battery is stuck at 90% for some reason and won't go down.

I hate that AT&T doesn't carry any better phones than the Atrix at Bestbuy.
Update 2: Got a second replacement in the same day. Working as intended. For now.

It wouldn't turn on or anything, when i plug the usb in, window gives me an error as it cannot connect to the phone. I try the charger and it wouldn't charge(the charging light on the phone wouldn't turn on). I just got my phone replace last week due to theft. So is my phone bricked? I've flashed my phone alot and each time i wipe everything, could that be the problem? if i take it back to sprint store you think they would send me a new one? thanks.
Take it in and find out...
Just curious... what rom were you running when that happened?

Pull out the battery, remove charger.
Put the battery back in and dont press anything. Plug it into the wall and see after ~60 seconds you get a charge light.
I just got my phone replaced with the exact problem. Took it to sprint and they ordered me a new one under the HTC warranty, no problem. I didnt say anything about flashing just that it stopped charging and would not turn on anymore.

Just remember that if they get the phone to boot after you turn it in and they find out its rooted/ROM'd that they can fine you the entire price of the phone. Not trying to scare you but it has happened to people. However, it does seem there have been quite a few complaints about USB "issues".

I too have had the usb charging issue. Try moving the usb cable around in the phone and see if it contacts. Mine does by lifting up on it. I called Sprint to see what they can do and they said that it is caused by the user. I laughed at them and said some not so nice words then hung up on them. Then took it to a Sprint store and they ordered a new one for me without any questions.
as a side note I am glad they are replaceing it cause now the speaker is blown and the paint is peeling from the power button.
Also, FYI, my kid's hero's charger died on him (the one out of the box). We thought his phone was broken because it would not charge or be recognized by the USB. Then we tried out my charger and, boom, all good.
Worth a shot....
alright guys, thx everyone for the reply, status update: I try everything that was mention here, pull bat and putting it back(several times), moving charging cables, letting the charger sit 60sec, none of it work. I know my phone wasn't out of batteries cuz when i went to sleep it was about 86% left, so i thought my bat blew out on me after a week of usage. so i just left my phone in my pocket and after a while it started getting hot, i was like wtf, and took out the bat immediately. i leave the bat out for about 30min, put that sucker in again, and voila, it power up, everything was back to normal...anyone know wth's going on? of course i'm very happy my phone is working again
I had a fully rooted evo, themed, etc. So I am a noob to the Epic but not android or working with app's etc. I did a search of the forum and I did not see anything that related to the exact issue I am having.
All of a sudden, about an hour ago, my phone just started telling me my battery is at 0%, I did a battery pull and it put me at like 80% (which makes sense, I charged it all night). I have it plugged into my work computer at the moment to give it some "juice" but even that is not allowing my phone to turn on for more than the boot screen loading up to homescreen, then immediately powering off.
I have not downloaded anything new on my phone, I have not attempted to root this phone, nothing special at all.
A couple of times when it HAS come to the homescreen those few seconds, there is a strange dark grey rectangle on my screen and it says "relaunch me" with an emoticon above it (in the box but above the words).
I think that may be a widget alert for my digital time widget but I can't say for sure.
So out of this long-winded explanation I'm basically trying to figure out wth made my battery just give out? And even charging it is not helping.
No I have not dropped it nor dropped anything on it either.
I would try another battery. Maybe it's a bad battery. Go to sprint and ask them to try another battery. I don't know why your battery would do that. Good luck
I had this issue!

I had this same problem, I went to sprint and they swapped out battery, charger, and cable and all is well now! been working fine ever since....
I believe I caused the issue through odining a bunch of times and unplugging and replugging! but my phone would give me a yellow exclamation mark! and say something like can't charge battery!
Looks like I'm going to have to take it to the Sprint store. I just tried another Samsung cable for my sisters epic 4g to make sure and it's doing same thing. Thank you for the responses.
*fingers crossed*
If you are still by your sister, try her battery. That will eliminate another possible item (you might also try your battery in her Epic)

I had similar issues and had to get a replacement (under warranty). I think it was one of the copper battery connectors coming lose (on the phone side) it was sticking out noticeably compared to the other one. It eventually wouldn't turn on at all, plugged in or not. I'd back up what you can and go visit Mr. Sprint.
My Epic has the same problem... it would just turn off. Now the screen won't turn back on after timing out while charging, i have to unplug it then hit the power button multiple times.
Hello. I created this account so I can finally ask some of my questions regarding this phone. I've had it since the January 6th shipping, and it's really been fine for the most part. I've the 8 gig version.
Anyway - within the last few weeks my phone has been refusing to charge on random occasions (it's really very random as to when it will charge and when it won't) - both plugged into the wall outlet via the USB power converter that came with my phone and plugged into my computer.
It's been pretty annoying, but nothing I couldn't work around. It would charge eventually.
However, last night I plugged it in to the outlet and it made the noise confirming it was plugged and started charging. This morning, I unplug it and it's non-responsive. It doesn't respond to anything. I have tried:
-turning it on with the power button; holding it down for an extended period and releasing
-taking out the battery
-plugging it in to my computer (which didn't recognize anything being plugged in)
-plugging it in to a different outlet with a different cable (phone came with two)
I've let it sit plugged in for three hours now and retried all of these things and still nothing... it's dead!
I'm not sure where to go from here? I guess I should have my husband call Dell.
Has anyone had any trouble with the sporadic charging?
Are there any solutions I've missed to get my phone to turn on?
You say you've let it sit for a while, was that plugged into a power source? Try that, it sounds like your battery has gone completely flat and probably needs to sit on a power source. Failing that definitely call Dell and get a replacement battery and charger and see if that fixes it, sounds like one of those items is your problem.

Yes, it has been (and still is) plugged in that whole time. I edited my post
Yeah, something is wonky, I just cannot pinpoint it. My husband's will sometimes not charge, too. But, much less often than mine does.
charging issues
In the last 2 days my VP freezes while charging overnight. Restarts when I take out and replace battery. It will also freeze when I try to use any app while charging. I tried to use Dell chat to resolve issue but got bounced around. I even had an agent tell me my service tag wasnt valid. I'll try to call 800# when I have a free hour or so (I'm sure the call will take that long). The first two levels of support at Dell seem to have no clue regarding the VP it's very frustrating. P.S. what happens with all the apps I've purchased if they need to replace my phone?

Have you swapped batteries with your other DVP? Maybe replacement is the only option, hit up @dellcares on twitter, they have helped me in the past and bypass the whole waiting on hold nonsense with dell mobility.
@tbvnz: all your purchased appls will be reinstalled automatically if you installed them via the Zune software on your pc. The ones installed via the phone can be reinstalled from the MP on the phone, just hit the Buy button again and it will tell you its already been purchased and allow you to download it again.
Update:
I snagged my husband's battery and put it in my phone. My phone immediately came on and is now functioning. My computer recognizes it as being plugged in and it's charging.
And, my battery in my husband's phone works fine. It is fully charged and his phone is having no issues.
Certainly this is annoying (and did in fact happen to my husband a few weeks ago where his phone wouldn't respond until MY battery was put in his phone, but we chocked that up to the battery being dead {which it was}.) but at least my husband and I both have DVPs and can interchange batteries... I wonder what someone who didn't have that option would do.
Certainly confusing that removing and replacing my existing battery wouldn't turn the phone on, but my husband's would - even though both batteries are at full charge.
Thanks for the help! I'm not sure if I should contact Dell about it or not. Clearly it's subpar performance, but I've not been completely impressed by this phone in the nearly two months that we've had them, anyway.
Good to hear you are up and running. You could keep an eye on the situation and contact Dell for a replacement battery if it occurs again.
Thanks. Yep, I'll contact them the next time it happens. Anyone else had this problem??

My brother and I have experienced the same behavior on both of our phones. Most recent was his this past week, exactly as you described. It would not turn on via the power button, so I swapped his battery with mine and his booted right up. When I tried his battery in my phone it showed a full charge. That has happened to me one or two times, randomly.

I've seen that behavior in my DVP (picked it up two weekends ago) and I can tell you how to work around it.
What seems to be happening is some kind of bug when you have it connected and charging and try to turn on/off the phone. If you notice, when it seems unresponsive, the hardware keyboard will probably still light up. This is because it's actually on but the screen just doesn't get any output/input.
What I did was this:
1. Disconnect your phone from the charger.
2. Slide the hardware keyboard down so you can see whether it is lit up (on) or not.
3. Hold down the power button until the exact moment you see the keyboard go dark (off). You have to be quick because it will try to turn right back on a few milliseconds later if you still have the power button depressed, leaving it still non-responsive.
4. Wait a few seconds, and press the power button as normal to turn it on. This time you should see the Dell logo, etc. and everything will be fine.
I've gotten into the habit of either leaving it on or turning it off before I connect it to my charger (it's my alarm clock so it's on almost all the time).
Hope that helps.
my DVP won't turn on either...
Hi - i'm glad i found this post because i've had my DVP for 3 days now and its frozen about 5 times and this morning wouldn't turn on or seem to take a charge. it was fully charged when i put it down last night and this morning there was nothing.
i've stuck it into a wall outlet for now and i guess i'll just wait for it. don't know what else to do. don't know anyone else around with the same phone, so that battery swap isn't an option. pretty funny that you realized to do that and that it worked.
anyway, i feel better now that i've complained about it. thanks.
Did you try pulling the battery and then booting it up? If that doesn't work, after a pull just leave the battery in the phone and let it charge. After 20 minutes you should see it power on.
So it's continued to happen with my phone whenever I have it plugged in to the wall with the brick that came with the phone. Annoying! Basically I cannot have it plugged in next to my bed; it can only charge on my computer. So much for using it as an alarm!
I will try the power down and reboot with the keyboard out. I know what you speak of with the flashing keyboard. I hadn't tried to see if mine is flashing while the phone is 'dead'.
So Im a proud owner and enthusiast for the Atrix 4G (original only I cant stand any of the others released they did it best first time around). Ive had this phone with some minor problems for over a year. For a while the phone would randomly reboot in my pocket so long as it wasnt doing anything. If I were playing music on the device it wouldnt reboot but the second I stopped the music, put it in my pocket, and pulled it out it would be powered off. I reset the phone to factory (I had a flashed rooted rom on the device) and the problem stopped.
Now about 3-4 months later I made a phone call put the phone in my pocket to pull it out with a black screen. Now I thought the phone just died was all so I went in and plugged it in to the factory wall charger and to my surprise the LED came on and the phone chirped that it was charging. So it was actually still powered on. I tried looking at the screen from all angles and shined a light on it but there is no picture to be found anywhere. Otherwise the rest of the device (to the best of my knowledge) is still working properly. I could confirm this by my alarm going off in the morning and my in-ability to turn the alarm off due to a black screen.
Also ive pulled the battery, allowed the device to die, and have tried several chargers and other batteries I have so its not a battery or power issue. The screen also remains black on boot, you know the device is powered on once it boots into the OS and chirps that it has service.
Ive dis-assembled the phone to check all the cables in hopes that it would be a simple fix such as a loose cable however everything was double and triple confirmed to be plugged in and locked in place.
I had allowed the phone to die and waited a day or so with the battery pulled out once it had died and then plugged it in and allowed it to charge before powering it on for 30 minutes still to no avail. Ive even tried hard-naving to factory reset and still have had no luck.
I would like to purchase your dead phone for parts.

So yesterday my phone worked great. I work outside for the most part. It rained its ass off. Phone did not get wet that im aware of. no water drops or anything on it. Had it inside my waterproof jacket. This was early morning..10am or so. I get home from work around 7pm. Phone still works. battery is getting very low though. At 8pm phone reboots..which it randomly does sometimes. I set it down, come back to it awhile later and realize it never came back on. Figured the battery was completely drained past 5%. plugged it into stock charger (not stock cable though but a highend cable still). Phone wouldnt boot up or power on or even show any signs of life. Tried other cables, charges, USB ports on computer, even car charger. Nothing. Set it on charge over night. Still not even a LED blink. Set it on car charger all day while at work. Not even a blink. I took it apart (taken many phones apart in my time haha) disconnected battery and plugged it in...nothing. tried power/volume down, power/volume up, all 3 buttons. held all button combos for over a minute. Still nothing at all. I have a new battery on order that I can slap in there and see if the battery is just completely shot but does anyone else have any ideas on what i can do to get it up and running again? Already had to buy a new phone G3! because i HAVe to have one for work. So i want to get this one working again so i have a backup in case this ever happens again.
Thanks for any and all help

tried to enter download mode, recovery mode, every mode i know of. with no luck.
and forgot to mention. when plugged into computer the computer does not notice anything has been plugged in at all. no sound at all. nothing under device manager
well i got the new battery in. didnt work. still no power at all. anyone else know of something i can try? i know the screen isnt dead because it would still give out sound when turned on or vibrate. but that doesnt happen either. is there some other thing i could test? how would i test the motherboard? power button?
This sounds like exactly what happened to my phone about two weeks ago. Phone was randomly rebooting one morning in strange intervals. Once or twice an hour at first, then more often as the day progressed. By the end of the day the phone wouldn't even turn on anymore. I had thought it was the battery as well but after bringing in to an electronics repair shop, it was diagnosed as a bad motherboard and the guy quoted me $130 to replace it. Considering you can buy the D800 off contract brand new for about $220 off the internet, I declined. I'm still really upset about it. I had already had it replaced by AT&T while it was under warranty. However, now my warranty has expired. I really liked the phone overall but now I'm not so sure I trust LG's hardware.
I'm using my brother's old iphone 4 now and it drives me flippin' crazy. I want to get a new phone as soon as possible but I don't know what to get. I'm so torn on the whole issue. Was thinking about the S6 but I've had bad luck with samsung in the past as well. I'd get a newer iphone but ios is so lame compared to Android. I hope you find a better solution than I did. :crying:
