Hi everyone!
I'm having a problem with my phone, which is my third one by the way.
The first one just died on me while I was charging and the second one got a Fail PU.
While those two were really big issues, I think this one I need help right now is minor.
I have Faux's AOSP ROM and I use Go SMS for messaging. Since the phone is new, I just realized recently that my LED is not working. When its charging, there is light, but I don't get notifications. Is there some way I can do to turn it on so I'd know when I get messages and/or missed calls?

you have to turn it on under settings... not currently running an ASOP ROM, but I know with Sense It is under Display in the settings menu
I checked everything on settings but its not there before I posted this. I even changed messaging from Go to Handcent to Chomp

I've got an erratic problem with new SMS alert sounds not always playing when a new SMS is received.
I've currently got my phone setup to flash the led, vibrate and play a alert sound (glass) when a new SMS is received.
This seems to work just fine 60-70% of the time when the phone is in standby, but the rest of the time just the led flashes when a new message is received and the sound/vibrate won't happen until the phone comes out of standby. Now as the led can be hard to notice, i've missed the arrival of many text messages until the next time that I use my phone.
As this is an intermittent problem, I would imagine that it may be something that is hard to get to the bottom of, but so far it is a problem that I have encountered on the following roms;
Stock WWE rom for UK users from HTC website
Dutty 3.0
Dutty 3.4
Dutty 3.7 (manilla 2.1 edition)
As such, can anyone recommed a rom to me that doesn't have this issue, as my wife and friends think that I am ignoring them sometimes!

It happens to me as well, with several cooked ROMS!
I think it's a very important bug, you know, a phone not receving sms...
but most of people are too busy changing icons, colors or wallpapers...
so nobody cares about it !

This isn't just a cooked rom issue though, as the latest HTC rom does it too. On mine the LED will always flash when a SMS is received, but whether or not the alert sound plays is a bit hit amd miss.
Hopefully someone can figure it out

There are many threads about this problem here and i think on diamond or touch pro too. Unfortunatly without any solution. I used 1.14 and now using 1.56 stock rom so i assume this has nothing to do about cooked roms. It's incredible but true: we have a nice expensive phone that can't always alert you for an incoming sms .....
Well known problem. Seems to be related to Radio and we don't have custom radios like custom ROM's. Unless HTC decides to fix this in a new radio (Like they finally released a hotfix for "audio stutter bug" a few days back) we are in a fix and out of options here
Ive found that since upgrading to the official 1.56 ROM its been absolutely fine ..
spud_work, I've flashed all of the roms you listed and am currently using 3.3. I'm not sure what causes the problem, but I do know that if I send an SMS from Manilla and just turn the screen off while still in sms, I don't get notified of a new/response message. If I exit sms back to home and turn the screen off, I get notified 100% of the time. You might give it a shot. I experimented with this theory while texting my wife back and forth. While in sms, 0% notified. Out of sms, 100% notified.
My evo was vibrating with sms and calls and now since it won't vibrate when receiving a message. The settings are on but it still won't work. I've tried numerous sms apps and they don't vibrate ethier. Is there anyway to fix this. Is anyone else having this probkem. Thanks for ur help in advance

try wiping your data and reflashing, maybe that will fix it
Instead of starting from scratch, go to the market and download an app called sound manager. Once you're in it hit menu>vibrate settings then chose the setting you want. I have mine set to "vibrate only when silent." works for me
same problem here, I really don't wanna wipe but I'm afraid that is the only fix. My friend has an Incredible that had the same prob and VZW wiped it for her and it worked again....I would rather figure out why it has happened to prevent it from happening again.
The sound manager program worked thanks for everything I chose vibrate whenever possible and it worked. Gotta love the internet and the people in it.I'm knew to android os is there Any recommended apps or games I should get

Oh wow, I had the exact same problem. This problem was obvious to me as soon as I upgraded to OTA 1.47.(insert rest of numbers here) last week. Plus it broke my Microsoft Exchange syncing. That was the day I decided to root my phone as soon as possible since I don't think I can rely on Sprint/HTC to push out a fix or upgrade without breaking something.
Now I'm happily running a rooted EVO with Damage Control 3.2.3.
Was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. It happens on all calls, have tried rebooting.
Currently running mixdroid miui.us. any suggestions or tips are greatly appreciated. Dislike having coworkers hearing my convos, almost got in trouble for this at work haha

Me too. It is annoying to say the least. My phone has been like this now for 5 days.
This always happens when I have used the navigation application and it goes away at some point although I don't know how. After looking for solutions I have found the following possible causes:
Navigation application used, phone thinks it is docked(?)
Lint, dirt in the USB port
3rd party charger causing it (USB port issue)
Possible solutions (none of which works for me and I am not going to flash it because of this)
Clean the USB port
Use HTC original phone charger
In Settings: Turn of docking mode
In Settings: Disable speaker activation when flipping/turning phone
Remove battery and SIM-card & memory card
Flash the phone
I had this problem.
It went away, and I dont know why.
Maybe if you go setting>sound> unchecked quiet ring on pickup, pocket mode and flip for speaker.

I've got the same issue with MIUI. sometimes it'll happen 5 times in a row, then it'll go several days without happening at all. I can't find any common theme as to why it's happening/not happening
Over the last few weeks my phone will randomly lose its notification sounds and vibration and stay silent when i recieve a text message, line message, or email. I thought maybe it was a ROM or kernel issue so i switched from paranoidandroid paired with franco kernel to rasbeanjelly paird with trinity kernel and the problem persists until reboot. I havent installed any new apps since it first began so at this point i have absolutely no idea wth is going on and its very frustrating to get to my messages late due to not getting a notification sound. Anyone else experience this?
I've had this with my messaging notifications, I went into settings and saw that my message notification was set to a random number, I just re chose my sound then it was okay

Right there with ya. Been since Saturday. I will have no indication of messages and open up messaging and see several Texts from earlier.
I don't understand how this problem just appears out of nowhere and exists after a full wipe followed by rom and kernel change.

I Just bought G2 2 days back and every thing seems to be working perfectly except for notification. I cant figure this out, when ever my screen is off I wont get notifications from email and Facebook. My email is set to push. I have checked the settings, made sure wifi is enable even during sleep. If the screen is on or im using the phone ill get the notification instantly but when turned off I wont. Reboot solves this but on for one time, after that no more email notification. I keep getting important email but am late to reply cause of this. I looked for similar thread didn't find one. Anyone got a solution
