I'm trying to get the tethering working but when connecting to my laptop it never recognizes it. Any ideas on how to resolve this? I have been able to set up a hotspot, but sometimes that connection goes out. weird. Wanted to see how tethering via usb works.
You need to install HTC sync.

I have a Sprint Vogue with a NFS rom (foget which one). Now I can tether on my desktop pc with WinXP. And my laptop also has WinXP and it also connects to the internet through usb tetheting. However, after a short while the computer will lock up the data transfer and nothing responds. Once I disconnect my phone, everything then responds.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
How do I delete the drivers for my phone so I can reinstall them?
I just bought my HTC desire HD. Its a AWESOME phone!
But i have a small issue with it.
i want to update the phone and it wont work.
i cant download it from the 3g network becourse it wont start somehow.
Also when i connect it via a usb cable to the computer, it wont start the internet.
i did set the settings to internet sharing and i dont have a firewall on my computer.
when i check the status of the connection on the phone it says it is initiating.
it stays in that mode.
can someone tell me what i am doing wrong?
One day I can use it with no problems, then another my laptop will not recognize the phone is connected via usb. I'm sure someone will ask why not just use the hotspot feature, but because of T-Mobile putting a cap on the data, using the tethering option when I need to use my laptop stops them from sending me the text saying I've been slowed down. I have HTC Sync installed, but when I go to open that to make sure the drivers are still ok, it just sits saying no device is connected. Maybe because I'm no longer on the stock rom? I don't know. Basically in order for me to get it working again I'd have to restore my laptop to a date when it was actually recognizing the phone via usb. With all that I've written here hopefully I can get a resolution.
T-mobile bases their data caps on your total data used. Whether your using it over USB or WiFi doesn't matter. If you regularly go over 5GB you're going to get throttled.
As for your tethering issue, I'm unsure. It sounds like there would be a driver problem if the computer can't recognize it, but if you're sure that you have the proper drivers then I'm not sure whatsup.
I installed drivers using the HTC sync before.. can something happen after that to where they would stop working?
Hello all,
I finally gave up on Fox-Fi finding a work around for the wi-fi on my droid Maxx/Ultra so I bought a Samsung S5 due to fox fi finally working with this phone.
My problem is now when I use the USB tether from my phone to my computer connecting through PDA Net I get the error right after my USB/PDA-Net connect saying "USB Connection Dropped error code=1".
I have already tried to uninstall and then re-install PDA Net onto my computer to get the right drivers.
Does anyone have any solutions to this problem? I would like to continue to use the usb tether because it is faster than wi-fi right now.
Thanks
Hello, I wonder if someone else have this issue :
When i use my phone as usb modem, windows takes ages to set the network up, I mean it's about minutes. Every thing works, it's just almost impossible to go in windows network configuration, it's laggy, it freezes until I disable the usb sharing.
Everything is fine when I use my phone as mass storage.
I tried to update drivers, remove then reinstall it, etc... but nothing dos the trick. It happens whatever usb port I use, and I have no issue with my galaxy s5 on cm12.
I'm running on cm13.
Does anyone else has issue like that ? And anyone has a clue to make this drivers working ?
My computer is on windows 10 64bit
