[Q] Noob Question.. Xrecovery between diff fones. - XPERIA X8 General

Hi guys...
quick noob question. I did a search and couldnt find anything similar so sorry if it's been asked before.
I have my X8 rooted with xrecovery installed.. Trouble is my fones touchscreen has stopped working at the bottom of screen. My carrier is giving me a new handset on Monday. Can I do an xrecovery backup on this handset then root the new fone, install xrecovery and do a restore of that backup onto the new handset.. Would there be any issues with the handsets having different IMEI's etc...? Or can I just restore the backup?
cheers
Ray

Nandorid backup - clean

Hi, as my very last attempt to fix this IDEOS X5 is to put clean NANDOROID back-up. But I don´t have one. Can anyone here post his clean back-up ? Thank very much in advance. Mike
Err what your asking is a bit Back-Asswards..
Not many ppl will give you a backup of thier own Installed ROM..Apps and google acount details etc etc..
So here is an idea for you to try..
Install the factory Rom for your device.
http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Huawei_Firmware_U8800
Then reinstall the Recovery mod for the U8800..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044585
then adb reboot recovery or shut down and power on holding the power and the volume up buttons
..then make your own Nand Backup. Restore as many times as you want to..
I appologise if I misunderstand your actual issue, but your not telling us much about your problem.
M..
He doesn't have a regular production model u8800 so it won't accept the official rom updates.
You can try using either votaloco's clean B158 rom or my B160 rom. If they won't work then restoring a nandroid backup won't work either (not without some changes anyway).
Thanks guys, but I have sent the devie to manufacturer to check it and change it for normal poroduction piece, so hopefully I will be ok then Thanks for interest and your time !

[Q] Kuyadroid freezed

Hi guys,
I have a Xperia X8 on which I installed kuyadroid v3.2.175.
All worked fine until I tried to reinstall busybox. I made a mistake and removed /system/bin/busybox, another busybox is installed under xbin.
when rebooted the phone freezed at the 'sony ericsson' logo.
It seems there's non way to access xrecovery.
There's any way to have my phone back?
Please help!!

use pc companion to repair your phone and then root again. there's loads of info on this site and some step by step guides too. search for the thread "How to rescue our bricked x8" for all info, hope you get it sorted.
Thank you so much!!
You saved me.
I'll check immediately the thread you said.

[Q] A500 backed up with sc2k's backup tool and needed to restore

Hi Forum,
as the title says, I backed up my stock A500 with the backup tool of sc2k. But now I wanted to restore the stock ROM, I found here.
How can I install the old files on my A500? Could you give me some advices how to? I don't know how I did it nearly 2 years before.
Edit: My CWM broke some day, can't remember when, so this can't help me atm.
Regards

Be careful to untick the EFS partition before restoring. Just in case make a backup of EFS on the new phone before.
After restoring you will have to change the Android ID on the new phone. Use Titanium Backup to do it. If you will flash another rom on the old phone then its Android ID will change and you may leave the new phone as is.
That is all.

ahh ok... learning something new... thank you
- EFS, will do as you suggested
- Android ID? i will have to read on this one, i do have paid titanium backup ver. The phone, i will handing in back to employer and will just flash latest stock firmware/rom on it.
I think incase of problems i will make a backup of the apps using titanium, if i have to start from scratch, at least i have my apps to restore.

Android ID is a key generated when you clean install a rom used by Google and some apps to identify a phone.
If you will flash stock on your old phone don´t worry about it.
Anyway if you open Titanium menu you will see Your Device -> Manage Android ID.
Have fun.

Please let us know if you succesfully restore the backup on the new phone. I believe it should be no problem but seriously I have no gut to do that

i am not sure if i will do this now as i am getting random shutdowns and reboots every day or so, i thought it was because the ultimate kernel was unstable and changed to Compulsion Kernel and still get these issues.
So i will have to build from scratch new phone! Would of loved to just backup and restore, really cant be bothered mirroring all settings and apps again!
