Hi, yesterday o brought home my new blade and it has a yellow blur on the bottom of the screen, like some iPad. It isn't very noticiable, but i don't like it at all
Will it go away with the time or should i take it to the warranty?
Take it back under warranty.

Than I agree, you should take it back.

hello all.
just bought a new galaxy tab for the price of $750 here in Baghdad today. it was brought over from UAE and has full Arabic and the best android 2.2 system.
i am extremely happy to have it however the happiness stops to when the spec of dust appeared to my eyes. right under the sticker that comes on the screen appeared a white dot to the very right of the screen. however when i use the unit the although not apparent it looks like a dead pixel rather than a spec of dust because it looks to mix colors. (i would take a picture later and attach it to this post) -- the area i am talking about can be shown here. its on the very top right hand corner of the center image in step 18; http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-Teardown/4103/3
i am considering tearing the unit apart and blowing some air under the screen this is if the item is dust.. is it easy? i am looking over some videos to take it apart. -- according to the steps from the link above step 18 requires a heat gun and that i am not too good with.
OR
shall i just ignore it?
Any experiences with things like this?
thanks!
[wow a 104 views as of this edit and no replies? hmm]
there was an article that showed the teardown of a tab. They said it took an extream amount of heat to seperate the glass from the screen.
I would send it back to Samsung for replacement or try and ignor it.

+1 for sending it back to Samsung, a device this expensive shouldn't come with any dead pixels! If you open it to try and fix it yourself you'll invalidate your warranty and then will really be stuck with it!!

that option really isnt valid here where i am. i tried with the shop i bought it from but now i am deciding to just put up with it. oh well.
perhaps those dead / stuck pixel fixers or something...
Try this Pixel Fixer program. I had two stuck pixels on my DroidX when I got it. This fixed it.

Don't give up after one try. It took several attempts over a number of days using Pixel fixer to clear up my stuck pixels.
I recently started to have this problem this afternoon the screen flickers and banding is on the screen. Also the phone keeps shutting down, and the back of the phone smells like something melted... I think my phone is broken.. I have SRF 1.1.0 installed set cpu set at 200-1000. Think I should flash it back to stock and take it into sprint?

I Odin'ed back to stock and now the issue is gone.. but the phone still smells like it's burnt in the back.. what do you guys think I should do?
Since you've already odin'd back to stock, I'd take it to a Sprint store to have them check it out. The worst they can say if they won't replace it, or try to charge you. You can always tell them no and keep the phone. It smells like melted plastic for a reason, so if there isn't something wrong with it now there's no telling what could have been damaged to break at a later point.
Don't know much about the defaults on SRF but if it plays around with voltages it's possible something got cooked, or almost cooked. It may be fine or you may have significantly shortened the life of the phone. But if you show up at the Sprint store with a phone that works fine it's pretty unlikely that they will replace it, no matter what it smells like.
Thanks for the feedback.. I'll hold off for now since I'm working my ass off this week with over time and see if it comes back or not.
Could also open it up and look at things. If it smelled like burning there might be visible damage. Or compare to a photo of the innards, if such a thing is out there. It's not uncommon to see photos of devices' insides on review sites when they first come out. If there's tamper detection tape or something maybe you could ask the store's people to inspect those parts themselves.
Same banding/flickering is happening to me now. Using Andromeda Kernel 1.4.1 and never had setcpu using anything higher than the stock upper limit. Was your flickering/banding more noticeable at low brightnesses? When I have certain backgrounds up, it isn't visible at all, but when I go to menus etc it reappears.
Just flashed back to the DI18 that it came with but the problem continues.
So today I noticed my phone had a purple blotch on it and well I thought nothing of it until I saw more of it at the bottom and when I turn the brightness up it gets even worse all over the screen on my phone. I've found one other person with this issue and they hadn't received any help, so I'm coming to you guys to ask you as to whats going on with my screen. Some information as follows, I am using the RandomRom with gingerbread and the modem is EI22.
my phone is kinda doing the same thing..
but. I took my phone in because the screen wouldnt come on..
and when I got it back the screen colors was all messed up..
I asked them about it.. and they said thats how I Gave it to them..
which is a lie.. but I didnt want to give them my phone back for another 4 to 6 hours..
I plan on taking it back.. but right now I'm too lazy to unroot my phone and put it back to stock.. then give it to them for god knows how long..
people say my phone screen looks like a old school GameBoy Color screen..
right now I don't even notice it anymore.. I got use to it.
so when ever I do decide to get it fixed.. its gonna be like I got a brand new phone..
Right, so does anyone know why this happens?

Had mine serviced last week. Its the ribbon for the screen. Covered under TEP if ya got it. At least this what the issue sound like. If you guys are anything like me, its probably from over clocking and such.

Well I didn't overclock my phone, unless the ROM I installed did that itself.
So is this covered by Sprint for free? I can't exactly afford another replacement.
It's entirely pink now and the bottom itself is progressing to a darkish blue blotch and slowly replacing the pink.

As long as you have the insurance, yes, its free.

Well I think we have insurance on the phone, but I'm going to run it into the store sometime this week. I'm gonna keep checking this thread though for any updated information. But on a short note... when I got this phone replaced, the left side of the screen could be pushed up more than the other side. In my experience of having this phone a few times it has never done that so I assume it's on the department stores part. But do you think it has anything to do with my issue of this funky screen?

Okay so here's an update I haven't had it replaced yet but the screen is now tinted blue with black coming from the bottom. I managed to bring my phone back to Stock EC05 after bricking it apparently. So the download mode triangle is stuck on the uh overlay of blue and the entire bottom is basically black.
Are the rma units brand new? A rep told me that they are brand new. My brand new nexus 4 has a small white pixel & it stays the same on every app that i go into except when there a dark background. But its hard to find. But it annoys me now that i know where it is. Will google charge 300 dollars if they don't see the white stuck pixel?
Yes they are brand new. I just submitted RMA on 3/22 and got the new designed 302k device.

What was wrong with your nexus ? My has a really small stuck pixel I hope they notice.
When I press on the right side of the back of my phone about 3/4 of the way down, the glass depresses/deforms a bit and makes a pop/click sound.
Considering RMA, don't want it to fall apart due to ****ty build issues.

My device had a weird white line in the upper right corner of the display. It almost looked like a crack, but underneath the screen. Only noticed it when I had the device in landscape otherwise it was almost hidden by the status bar.
Just to make sure they found it, I attached a sticky note pointing at the defect before I shipped it back.
New device is much better then the device I thought I was happy with. Much better battery life and stays much cooler.
Google rma are brand new sealed box yes.

Nexus devices are made to be rooted. I've never ran the stock software on either device. Opened box, unlocked boot loader rooted and back on AOKP goodness.

Im going to attempt to root it : I rooted all my phones in the past just to get the stock android feeling.
Sorry to hijack. I got mine from a Wind shop in Greece since here is no G Store.
Would you think this is a cause for RMA.
The right one is mine.
You see the diff in screen temp and it also has black regions under the screen that are noticeable in white backgrounds.
Thanks

When I got my rma nexus 4 yesterday. I had the same problem with white color but after a while the screen went back to normal. Just wait a while for the screen to settle.
Ok. I will. Thank you. Although it seems so different.
Another reason i don't want to rma is caise i think i got a great device.
It does not get hot, or buzzing noise or creaking sounds and i got the "fast" cpu.

Hello!
I have a Nexus 4 and I saw now that I can see squares in the screen of the Nexus when it turned off.
I can really see them clearly.
What is that? Is my Nexus 4 is defective?

its not defective unless your touchscreen is not working..
those lines that look like circuits are the touch sensor or something like that..... you can only see then with the screen off and in the right angle...

Is there a Nexus 4 phone that the pattren is less visible?
I compared with a friends phone and his does not have this pattren so clearly.
Btw,
If I change the phone's gamma with a kernel and then I back to stock, the colors goes back to the original?
And if I undervolt the phone and then I go back to stock, the settings of volt goes back to the original?
Is changing the colors can damage the screen in the long term?
We just got a new nexus 4 in the family today, rev11, and it also has this chequered pattern visible with the screen off. We have 2 original rev10's that don't have this.
Guess it's supposed to be like that.

Boot to the boot loader.. From power powered off state, press volume down button, then press it again with the power button and hold them both down until the boot loader screen comes up. There you can see what revision your phone is.
