Quickoffice - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

Hey everyone, I seem to be missing something here with Quickoffice... Does it not allow us to creat documents? On my Samsung Infuse I can create documents, but I'm not seeing that as an option with my GT. Any help, insight? Thanks!

The peice of paper with the plus in the top right corner is to create a new document. Its inbetween the search tool and the cloud button.

[Q] No Free Office App?

Well, I'm a bit disappointed. I've searched the forums here and branched out to Google as well and I cannot find a free app for editing Office files. If I just haven't found it yet, please point me in the right direction.
Every WM phone I've owned came with Office preinstalled and every Blackberry has come with Docstogo, both of which had editing capabilities right on the phone.
I'm a new Aria owner now and I just can't believe there isn't a free Office app. Maybe I've missed something?
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Download Any Android Paid App For Free Using Applanet MOD EDIT AND YOU KNOW WHY
I'm not looking for anything illegal or stolen. I just can't believe there isn't a free app for the job or that AT&T couldn't spring $10 to load a version of an app capable of editing on such an expensive device.
Am I over looking something?
Thanks.

Thanks for the idea. I'd rather be able to edit files directly on my sd than to have to upload them, edit, then download again. I may have to resort to that if there simply isn't another way.
I still think it's utterly ridiculous to have to pay for the ability to edit or print for that matter (every winmo device I've had came with jetcet5), office documents on a freaking smart phone! What's so smart about it if basic office functions aren't available?
Thanks again.

Microsoft Office on Android? A cab file? Does this run in an emulation layer or are you just being sarcastic?
I don't remember the iphone having any free office editing software either. It makes sense for winmo and blackberry to have this functionality since winmo is a MS platform and blackberry is a business platform. You could try oliveoffice editor it is free and allows you to edit doc/docx files.

Thank you!!! Finally an Office Package, that's FREE, w/editing capabilities! This is obviously still W.I.P., but definitely usable for my needs.
Why doesn't this package get more press? Folks should be raving about it here on the forums. Thanks again.
One reason may be fue to the size of thr Aria. I know I dont do a lot of document editing on this phone due to that.

Did you test Notion Ink Apps?

Here you have a link if you want to test them -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928832
Thanks to gojimi!
I'm not sure if any of that is useful other than the OfficeApp, but I may play with the others. Thanks for the link.
EDIT: The keyboard is lame other than the arrow keys feature. A keyboard with arrow keys and a num-pad would be the way to go.

I love the keyboard, but loathe the skin it uses.
Having an onscreen directional control and an almost full size keyboard is terriffic.
Thanks for the heads up

I suspect they're thinking about the PixelQI screen in transreflective mode where the increased contrast of the keyboard will still make it very useable.
Sign apk? ahh, i'm a designer not a programmer, i merely opened up the apk, modified one of the skins (a png file) for a test.
so, all ive done is altered the filesize and date of one of the inner files.
How does one "sign" an apk?

Its not hard to sign a .apk. Good to learn if you like making skins.

Anyone got maild working on the Vega? I flashed via CW but couldnt locate it after reboot... doesnt seem to install anywhere
got mail'd working but can't get contacts to show up. i didn't flash it though. unzipped the file on the vega and installed the apk from the folder
I've tried some of the apps here, I'll leave my two cents.
mail app: Brilliant. I love the way it manages the accounts and the look & feel.
Sniffer App (file manager): Looks kind of cool, but doesn't recognize the USB drive.
Calendar: Looks nice but I don't use it ,so can't compare.
Browser: With the email, the best of the lot. Just one annoying thing. I have to reinstall it every time I reboot. Weird.

A question that needs answered.

I am having a slight problem with making my avatar show in the box right beside my name, when I post on here my view only shows a box with white in it lol so if anyone can point me to the right path on explaining to me how to solve this issue I would greatly appreciate it.

[Q] Controlling the phone through windows

When I was in Korea I remember Samsung was advertising being able to see, use and control the phone through the windows application, but it was a windows only application. I can't remember the name of it (it's not mirrorcast or sharecast). And was wondering if anyone know about it. A google search has come up with nothing.
Thannks
I use the app AirDroid sometimes: HERE. This one control ur smartphone via web :highfive:
Also there's Kies Air from here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.swift.app.kiesair

Thanks, I've used Airdroid before, but it's not quite what I was looking for. I had that app before and it was pretty seamless. Kies seems to be mostly just access to files and stuff.
do you mean this one perhaps?

Heh, it seems like you have to purchase the system.... and it says only works with Samsung PCs... seems a bit much will have to dig around to see.
Mobizen
Might want to try this, it's called Mobizen and works quite fantastically. Also it's free.

You mean like Snapchat? Text over a screenshot or drawing like in MS Paint? Just use a picture editor. Go to the Play Store and search for picture editor and find your favorite one. Dozens of options.

true ,but i was just thinking maybe there was one specifically for screenshots. (like the one in note and huawei mate phones)
but i think there is nothing like that for the nexus xD
i will stick to the editors like you suggested.
thanks for the feedback.

best choice trust me , owned galaxy's (s2/s5 note 4)
jumped to the nexus series in 2015 got nexus 6 loved it up until i noticed it had terrible banding, still used it for about 8 months , recently got the 6p (thankfully no banding) nothing beats stock android on nexus phones.

I use keep. I share the screenshot to keep, then write with the pen tool, and then share the note... which is shared as an image. Pretty effective way IMO if you don't want to have any extra apps lying around. You have to tap the share icon twice (one for the screenshot, another one after doodling) but you're gonna have to do that with pretty much every app.
