old S2? lol... To be honest I think that 3D is a fad and another way to make us part with our hard earned gadget money.
I admit I am curious to see one in real life but won't be giving up my S2 anytime soon.

I am getting a LG 3D but won't get rid of the GS2, to be fair I saw a video on youtube a chap had took that has one and the 1080p was as good as this but had faster auto focus, there was also a 3D 720p video but you obviously need the 3d stuff to see that properly.

I played with one of the 3D phones over the weekend and I started to get a headache when looking at the screen after a while. I'm going to give the 3d thing a miss.

No way....dont like 3D and i dont trust LG.

So yeah, going to skip 3D until they implement it properly.
Maybe after 3 years might get it.

Seriously, was at the us over the weekend and played the HTC EVO 3D for a while. I have to admit it was awesome, the quality of the 3d pics and video it took is really good. The 3D gaming is brilliant too.
Didn't see the LG one tho so can't say much but am totally dig the whole 3D thingy.

Love my samsung. Even if they do release a new samsung (which they wont) by the end of this year, the developers wont jump ship when they just purchased the SGS2. I go where developers go

A bunch of us came from the G2X/O2X. After six months, LG can't fix the firmware and/or release a 2.3.X update. Devs found interesting things in their code. Debugging was left enabled, there's comments relating to "demo code," drivers were poorly written and some incomplete. And the G2X/O2X really aren't that advanced hardware wise other than having a dual-core SoC and HDMI. If they can't get a somewhat basic phone correct, why would you have any faith in them developing a 3D phone? Check out the O2X, G2X, and Revolution forums. LG should stick to TVs and washers and dryers. After my G2X experience I would use two cans and a string before I'd ever own another LG phone.

I'm swinging towards getting a Nexus S too as soon as it drops... I can't stand some aspects of this epic
I know ALOT of people say the Nexus S is basically another Galaxy S phone, but most Nexus S owners say its a completly different phone. So I think I'm going to get the Nexus S and test it out and see how it performs against the Epic, and go from there.
I'll know in October 2012. I may not even want a smartphone at all.
Not a Samsung for sure. To be honest, I really thought that the Epic was the best of the Galaxy S phones. And with all the hype and advertising money behind it I thought for sure a ton of devs would get an Epic. Well that hasn't really happened.

Well the internals are the same.... but it's a whole different approach to the OS and hardware.
It doesn't have Gorilla Glass, doesn't have an SDcard slot, and it doesn't have some of the other tell-tale signs of SGS hardware.
It's actually most like our epic though than other US SGS phones. It at least has a flash and a FFC (If you use it.... I find it a useless feature on my epic, purely useless). It doesn't have the keyboard, which is actually 100% a benefit for me. I hate how my Epic feels and I know I'm not alone in saying that my epic has a loose screen because of the sliding mechanism.
Honestly the way I see it is that the Nexus S is a slightly different version of our phone, with a little bit more durability because of the lack of keyboard and a lot more longevity because it's a direct from Google supported phone. That's the real kicker for me... I've spent hours trying to make my phone less like an SGS and more like a normal Android phone. I'm running a rom without a trace of TouchWiz, I have had launcher pro installed since the very first day I got it. I have a Gingerbread theme to make it feel less Samsung based and more AOSP-ish.... I don't want a single thing that's related to Samsung that isn't direct AOSP. That's why I think the Nexus S will be perfect for me.
Oh and did I mention AOSP and no keyboard?
Whatever I buy it will have a PowerVRSGX54x graphics chip. Has anyone seen the benchmarks from the iPad2? Holy ****. Yea, I will be staying away from any Tegra 2 device, what a bust that was. I mean completely outclassed within 2 weeks of launching on a mass market tablet. Ridiculous.
Just for those wondering, our epic is basically an iPad. Almost identical hardware. So I will be looking for a phone with hardware similar to the iPad2, or the true sequal to our Epic4g.

I'm going to strongly recommend that you actually learn WHERE the difference [3D] is and the fact that you turn it off before you run your mouth.
It looks like this gpu is faster than the one used in Tegra 2 and TI's OMAP4 series (used in LG's 3D phone). It's good to see Qualcomm stepping up their game on the gpu front.

I'm getting it for the higher resolution screenand the better CPU/GPU, and the newer Sense UI. The 3D is just a bonus which we'll see how well it works and/or how much I use it. However, the 3D capabilities is not the reason I'm getting it. Plus, I get yearly upgrades, so why the hell not?

Review from engadget
http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/20/t-mobile-g2x-review/
While most of the hardware in the G2x hits the spot, we're a little underwhelmed with the display. The 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480) IPS panel looks good on paper but misses the mark when compared to the competition. Sure, the colors are rich and the viewing angles are wide, but the LCD washes out more than expected in direct sunlight and suffers from a significant amount of backlight leaking out from the edges of the screen, resulting in visible "stains" on solid, dark-colored content.

It's getting rave reviews, the only complaints I have read are the light leak and the Euro version comes with a hdmi cord and the us version doesn't. Other than those two complaints this phone seems to be a winner.
Oh damn, I'm still up in the air between this one and the SGSII. Looks like Sammy's gonna win in the display dept. This is pretty disappointing to see; especially since we know LG makes the screens for the iphones. SMH.
Don't see much of an upgrade from my vibrant. Now if it had a 4. 3" screen, I would run and get one today I hope we get phone with a screen that big soon.

People should really wait this out. The Vibrant is more than good enough for now, why rush and get the newest flawed product.
I've had 3 phones in the past 2 months, lost a mt4g over the weekend, got a gs4g on Sat, returned it today got the g2x and other than missing the optical mouse on the mt4g, for what's out there currently this phone is by far my favorite....but really how come phones are now lacking camera hw buttons and notification LEDs, that has been irking me all week, and I would take a vibrant over a gs4g because of the internal storage
im trying to wait for the galaxy 2 but i doubt i will be able to wait and find my self getting the g2x
Played around with it today at the downtown Seattle TMO store, and the screen was a major letdown for me. I went wanting to upgrade. The kicker was when I asked if I got the upgrade they said I had 3 months before my 1 year for discount to upgrade. Grrr. Wonder if the HTC Sensation will be out by then, bigger screen, faster processor, etc.

Indeed. At times it seems some people buy phones here just for the sake of having a "new" one. Why change when you've a device that works just like you want to? Better specs aint everything, looks can be deceiving.

You're right but everytime I compare this with my Olde Cliq, I piss off .Except for the not too good speed, everything works nicely and its GPS just simply blow Vibrant one out of the water (locks within 5 seconds no matter what roms I put on it Eclair, Froyo or Gingerbread)
So the LG G2X runs the Tegra Duel Core, the HTC Sensation will be running their Scorpion duel core chip, and the Galaxy S2 will be running what processor?
I remember seeing something about the HTC duel core not being as good as the Tegra 2's? how about the Galaxy S2 duel core?
I know its a lot to ask, just wondering if anyone remembers seeing that HTC chip was not as good as the Tegra or what the Samsung will have.
I think it will be good to compare this as it seems like these are the 3 phones many of us are trying to decide on/wait for

Worst. Excuse. Ever.
I'm going EVO 3D. I like my Specs but I prefer HTC software, I like our EVO 4G devs who plan on getting the 3D & hell I can't b*tch about a gimmick I haven't tried & a feature I can turn off if I don't like it. Oh & Sense 3.0 smells like WIN.
The Epic had a better benchmark than the EVO 4G too & but I don't regret not getting it.
Its really the XDA devs' fault that I stick with HTC, not so much the brand loyalty. :/
Galaxy S2 for me...though I'm jumping ship to TMO as soon as I can get kicked off of Sprint.
Purchased my EVO on launch day and major quality control (light leakage & b-spot) which Sprint or HTC wouldn't man up and fix it without any downtime on my side (at least loan me a damn phone while it's in repair for a few weeks); did not return/exchange it within 30-day limit due to stock shortage. First HTC device and my last.
PS. Wimax is pathetic in my area unless I'm standing underneath the sun.
Evo
Personally I don't trust Samsung, they may have brought us the Super Amoled screen but they haven't made any serious software leaps in ages. HTC sense steps up its game with just about every new version of Android. HTC definitely has improvements to make but I'll patiently wait it out with them.
On that note I vote EVO 3D(even though all I really want is the upgraded processor)
Can we toss the nexus s 4g in the mix???

Tmobile galaxy s 2 test results for real!

okay, i just got my tmo samsung galaxy s 2 as early relase and ran few tests.
i did regular quadrant, smartbench 2011, cf bench.
tested couple times for each.
here are the results.
ps. i forgot to post it, but i also did speed test, and i've been getting 10+ Mbps download speeds and about 3~5 upload. I live in Philadelphia
i also did vallemo, the score ranged from late 800s to mid 900s.
worth buying it or not?

actually, it was really good.
i tried tango with my friends, had no problem at all.
i'm lovin this phone!!
my friends have both att and sprint version of SGSII, but i don't think tmo's isn't that bad compared to them
Can you play MKV's in the stock video player?
The lack of good out-of-the-box video support is what's holding me back from getting a non-exynos version of the sgs2.
This phone is a beast exynos or no exynos processor. if it cant play MKV format movies out of the box there's an app for that. i would really like to see a web browsing experience with the Hercules.

web browsing experience is amazing.
everything loads up almost instantly
faster then other SGSIIs by att or sprint IMO
and smooth as well(or hell).
Have you tested the gps?

Meh. Show me it competes with the upcomming Prime or that it has a backlit illuminated camera. Otherwise it's old news.

i don't know what you really mean by testing the gps, but i tried to locate myself on the app called "TeleNav GPS Navigator." it seems it's doing what it's supposed to do.
only couple meters off i think.

It's just nicer having hardware acceleration for video decoding. Less glitchiness. Smoother overall. That's why I like the Hummingbird in the Vibrant.

It should be able to as Samsung has a whole bunch of codecs which wouldn't be hard to implement into qualcomm s3 processor. The sound should be better as well compared to the original Samsung galaxy 2. Looks like Samsung can use qualcomm processor to its full potential unlike htc. I will be picking mines up at the store on release date. Now all we need is a forum.

Out of curiosity... Why?
The SGS Vibrant and the SGSII both have gorilla glass. http://gizmodo.com/5726124/what-is-gorilla-glass
I was reading some of the reviews and it mentioned that the phone didn't have wificalling? Is this true?

Have you tried it to see if it works? That was one of the selling points to me. Then I heard it wouldn't work and then I heard an update would activate it. Don't know what to believe.
