how can i turn on the usb sync if i clicked on the 'home' icon?
i plug in the usb, kies is running, but if you click 'home' icon, usb connection with PC is turned off...so i just have to keep replugging the usb in.
is there an easier way?
Uncheck usb debugging and you should be fine
You can do it by going into settings > applications > development
This worked for me
yea but once it works and i hit the home button...it goes back to normal mode..but how can i get it back without having to unplug and replug the usb a bunch of times?

Do you have the drivers installed?
Are you plugging your phone in through a USB hub or is it directly plugged in?
Do you have the usb icon in the notification bar at the top of your screen? If so just drag the bar down and click on it. It will ask you if you want to mount the sd card.

What ROM are you running?
I have the same issue. It seems these phones are EXTREMELY picky about what USB cables that you use. I don't have the stock one anymore (damn cat), I have a few LG's and two from a Droid 1. All of them I have to 'wiggle' a little bit to get my computer to see the phone. Please remember not to push or force the cord, otherwise you will snap the charge port.
- Also, yes I get the USB icon
- Yes it is charging
- Yes I have the right drivers installed
Also sometimes I get "this device can preform faster", it just seems to me that the opening for the cable is a odd size and the other non OEM cables do not fit so well.
I realise that when I use my USB port to charge my phone, when it reaches 100% charge, somehow my MTP device in Device Manager disconnects. I have to either re-plug in my USB cable, or switch to camera mode and then back to MTP on my phone in order for my device to appear once again.
Is this normal behaviour? Anyone getting this too?
My mistake, it doesn't disconnect on 100% charge. But sometimes after a while my GS4 just disappears...
When I plug my phone into my car for android auto I have to go to USB options and change it from charging to MTP every time. I've gone into developer options and tried changing the default USB action but it never sticks. Does anyone have any ideas?
I noticed that too. I think we are stuck with this behavior.
It's a pain. I just want to plug in and go
Hello to all.
I am seeking critique and suggestions for my troubleshoot -
Samsung Fascinate rooted running Cyanogenmod 10.1, Developer Options enabled and visible, toggled ON
notification never appears when I plug in USB - phone will charge - that's all.
I suspect the problem is the charging port itself (the physical hardware micro USB) because testing the very same cable with a different device works.
I don't have the menu switch to revoke permissions under developer options, so I deleted
/data/misc/adb/adb_keys
It didn't help. Can anyone think of any other software glitch I might test before jumping off to replacing the charge port?
It just acts like it doesn't know a data cable is present. Thanks!
Everytime I plug a usb stick with all my music in it it starts checking for errors and takes up to 5 minutes. I discovered that if I immediately unplug and de plug the usb stick, 2 or 3 times, it detects it normally and doesn’t scan it.
Is there any way to completely disable the check up for errors everytime I plug the usb stick?
