Recently I discovered few of the new .mp3 that I put in my android devices gives some problem while playing from music player.
HTC music player error message "unable to play this type of file" though its a .mp3 file. I can play it directly from Astrofilemanager.
The same is happening while setting new ringtones. It defaults back to HTCs default one. There is some problem. As before it was working fine.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Did you try another player like Winamp or RockPlayer?
Is it really an MP3 or just a renamed file?

im not sure this is the correct thread but im running into an annoyance.
im using an HD2 with the Energy Android rom.
playing mp3s with the Android and HTC music players has 2 problems..
1. it plays every file on the phone, even ringtones.
2. it messes up the album artwork and every song gets the same art. even tho most of the songs i have on my phone have embedded artwork.
any ideas how to fix this?
i would love to be able to flip to the music player widget and play my mp3s.
im havn almost the same problem i just want to hear only my mp3's not all my audio files any hav any ideas the ones i found on google didnt help i also tried to search it and got nothing please help us figure out how to play only music with the htc music player and not all audio files
Try inserting an empty file with filename '.nomedia' in the folders where your ringtones (or any other audio you don't want) are, they should be excluded from the music player.
Dunno about the artwork though

How do I create a file with no name? .nomedia appears as just an extention to windows.
I use the cubed (3) music player as my default music file player. It works well although it is buggy in 1.5 on my Backflip.
This seems to be an issue of Sense music player period as you notice the Windows version does that too. I use Mixzing from the market that gives you the option of what folder to scan for music, as for the .nomedia file I would assume start with a blank text file and change the extension to .nomedia?
Use Gallery Enabler from Marketplace
In the Sense builds such as MattC's does anyone know how to replace or remove the HTC player with the Android one.
The Android one I used in Darkstone builds (I believe) supported landscape mode switching of albums with cover-art and also finger gestures to move tracks.... this was really useful in the car.
I second the Mixzing player, I'm using the free version and it works better than any winmo player I could find. All you problems go away.
Hi,
I put this rom on my HTC HD2
[16.MAR.11][ZIP] Ultimate Droid 3.1.1 v2 [Tytung r7]
And I dont know why I can Play music from SD card. And also when I want to set as a ring tone a mp3 it doesnt play it.
Anyone know what is going on??
Thx
I found that it play music but only in ogg format. It doesnt want to play mp3.
I got text that the player doesnt support the file type. I tryed standard player and winamp and there is all the same
Any sugestions?
As the name suggests, I'm having some issues with audio playback on my new Iconia. I transferred all my music from my HTC Evo, to my PC, then to the Iconia using Acer's downloadable drivers. If I open the folder via a market downloaded file explorer...I have no issues. It is when I try to play the files in absolutely anything else that I get errors. Just FYI, the files are a mix of .mp3 and .wma files. Any thoughts?

Edit: I'm using File Explorer HD, and only the .mp3 files are playing within the explorer...the .wma files prompt for an app and fail
you can use windows media player to sync music
As far as I know, the WMA format isn't supported in Honeycomb natively.
I had the same problem but its was with google music. I tried power amp from the market and all my music plays fine now. And all my files are wma.

i ended up doing something similar with MortPlayer--still wish it would've worked with Google Music...I was realling digging the UI of that one. Oh well, at least my music plays now. If anyone ends up with a thought or a workaround for the native Iconia app, keep us posted here. I'd love to see a device where all of the stock software worked as it was intended!

Has anyone tried to sync music to our Acer's using Windows Media Player? If that can be used to send all the music to the device AND be able to use the default app...I'd be in good shape.

Yes. I did mention WMP above.
But I only did sync MP3 files, not WMA files. So I don't know about WMA part. MP3 is recognized and played flawlessly using stock music player.
Another note, if your music info (ID3 Tags) is not in English, make sure you have proper character encoding before syncing. Otherwise, they will be displayed as garbage. I think all ID3 Tags should be converted to UTF8, not sure, just used Foobar2000 to fix all my Japanese-title music.
After exchanging my first Iconia to BB for some other issues, I did as you mentioned with using the tablet as an external mp3 player in WMP and everything worked flawlessly! Thanks I also found a great .apk to be able to mount my NTFS HDDs to the tab without issue. So I'm in great shape now!

I tried an experiment with the music -- after syncing the music to my tablet using WMP, I noticed that it placed all of the files into the music folder within the root sdcard (internal memory) and google music pp worked great. I moved all the files from that folder to a folder created on the external_SD, and the app fails like before. Apparently the Music app that comes with our Iconias cannot see anything outside of its native internal memory

Hi All,
Anyone else having issues with MP3 playback using the defaul music player (and also using the Cubed player? About half of my mp3's on the device stop playing after about 1/2 a second. I initally moved my music library via simply drag and drop into the device storage from my Win7 PC. I then deleted the entire library and tried syncing via WMP. Made no difference. Files play back fine using PowerAmp. I'm really digging the new android Music player though, and would love to get it working properly. Any ideas on what's causing this?
Thanks,
Tony
I recently noticed a weird playback problem with my fire. If I download mp3 files from the web and then put them in my music folder I cant play them from the stock music player it says "playback problem" however if I open the same mp3 file using a file explorer the kindle plays it with no problem - its not the end of the world but a bit inconvenient when trying to listen to multiple tracks
Is this just me or something that happens with all Kindles?
