[Q] E: Cant mount 32B - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I'm not exactl how i got to this point but i have
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B ENG S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.2010 (SAPP30000)
RADIO-3.22.20.17
in android os and in recover i cannot access the SD card but i can still use my gold card without a problem so i don't think the connector is busted
i think it has to do with the fact what i have 32a spl on my 42b mytouch but i am unable to change spl's in recovery without sd card being able to mount i've gotten this far without it but i cant flash anything from recovery with out a sdcard so i htink i am stuck unless someone can help me figure out how to re enable it

Ok... you have multiple problems... but all of them are fixable :0)
Problem 1) You have s-on.
You have eng spl, so you should have s-off.
Fix: Run this command in fastboot mode
Code:
fastboot oem eraseconfig
Restart into fastboot again and you will see that you have s-off. With that s-off you can now flash whatever you want :0)
Problem 2) You have wronge radio for you device.
Fix: You say you have 32B. Then you need this radio:
https://rapidshare.com/files/455782324/2.22.19.26I.img
You can download fastboot commander from my signature to help you flash the radio. Get the normal version and NOT magic version (Magic version is for the 32A devices.)
Problem 3) You cannot mount the sdcard
Fix: run this command from fastboot
Code:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
Problem 4) Lets now fix your recovery.
Fix: Get this image:
http://rapidshare.com/files/387932919/recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img
Use fastboot commander to flash that image on recovery partition.
Now you should have a s-off device with all the engineer power with working radio, sdcard and recovery - just flash any 32B rom and you should be good to go... good luck.

You also have a post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101761
Notice that you have been working the blind changing all kind of **** without knowing what it actually does.... BAD IDEA...
Notice how much help you could get by simply writing all fastboot info!
I hope that my instructions from above can get you back on the right track...
Just stop flashing and changing stuff without research :0)

Accidental Flash of 32A Radio to 32B

Hi, trawling though the forum in hope for getting a 2.1 Sense ROM working on my phone (which i have been attempting for the last 48hrs) i came across a post that has wrong information on it, which i didn't notice till it was too late.
the phone is now showing as a Sapphire PVT 32A ENG S-OFF H with radio 6.35.10.18
rest is same as before
before it was
Phone is 32B UK Vodafone
Sapphire PVT 32B ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.33.2010 (Sapphire)
CPLD-10
Radio-3.22.20.17
It will not load into recovery but does allow me to get to fastboot and HBoot, the problem is it will not extract Hboot files (saphh.nbg or what ever its called)
IMO all i need is a 32B Radio img to flash with Fastboot as i did before, any ideas???
Ash
So is this bricked now???
Do you have debug mode on your phone? if so you may be able to recover using android SDK.
I know of ppl and posts suggesting it is possible to put a 32A rom on a 32B with some performance losses.
take a look at here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547133
Some reason my Goldcard became normal and will no longer work when i Hex edit the card, its a Kingston 2Gb, any ideas??
when it was working i couldnt get it to flash anything, kept getting verification errors when i tried to flash anything to the phone.
so basically i think its completely dead,
am open to ideas how to brick the phone more so to make the ROM unreadable so i can get it replaced
if there arent any performance problems then dont worry, you can "push" or "fastboot" your radio, do a search for "radio installation" and u will find what u need

Not sure if this has been answered, but I thought I'd help. Put the 32B radio image in the "AndroidSDK" directory on your computer. Start phone is Fastboot, then connect via USB. In command prompt, confirm device is ready with "fastboot devices", if you see your device listed you are good to go. Then type "fastboot erase radio". Once completed, type "fastboot flash radio XXXXX.img" (Where XXXXX is the name of the radio image, for example: "radio.img") for the radio image, go to developer.htc.com/adp.html . Find the "Android 1.6" "Radio Image" "ota-radio-2_22_19_26I.zip", Extract the "radio.img" from that zip file. Let me know if that helps. I'll check up later if you need further instruction.

I have done this and I get Failed (remote: signaure verify fail) when applying the radio.img.
I have downloaded it from HTC image like 10 times and each time i get the same thing. Thoguths?
Hi, finally back to trying to get the phone working again, have bene using an old phone and some reason my emails from this site was being blocked and didn't get anything saying i had new posts (be it from some time ago)
I have tried everything,
i am getting the same responce from fastboot
C:\android\tools>fastboot flash radio radio.img
sending 'radio' (21504 KB)... OKAY
writing 'radio'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
i have also tried many different micro SD cards and cant get any of them to work as gold cards, they just ask to be formatted all the time by the computer
so any ideas?
i have managed to create a working goldcard (after purchasing my 5th sdcard) but i get "Main Version is older" when i try and flash any ROM onto it.
still looking for a fix any ideas?
i have just noticed the phone is now showing

have now spent about the last 2 weeks trying to sort this, googled everything i can think to / find on the forum and still no avail
1.Turn your phone off. Turn it on by holding Back and Power, or Vol. down and Power. Either way, boot into the bootloader.
You should see the three Androids on skateboards, and the menu title should say "Fastboot".
2.Connect your device to the computer. The display on your phone should now say "Fastboot USB".
3.Open up the shell/terminal on your computer, and type
fastboot devices [enter]Your device should be listed with it's serial number, and should say "fastboot".
4.Change directory to where you have saved your recovery image. I.e. type "cd /path/to/recovery.img in windows prompt, press enter.
5.You may issue a "dir" command (Windows) or "ls" (Unix/Linux) to make sure you are at the right directory, or just skip this step.
6.Type
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Perhaps?
doesnt work just freezes on load and tried both H and G versions
Bump?...i'm stuck on the same problem :/

Confusion of 32A or 32B while rooting HTC Magic

Dear users,
I wanted to root HTC Magic with the following helpful tutorial.
http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/29/how-to-root-the-htc-magic-in-one-click/
However, I faced a problem about the motherboard version. When I check the motherboard version as tutorial suggested, I saw that it is 32B. However, Recovery Flasher app claims that it is EBI1/32A and it does not allow to flash the recovery image of 32B.
On the other hand, when I checked /proc/meminfo file, it says that
MemTotal: 99708 kB
MemFree: 12068 kB
which is 32B as suggested by Amon_Ra
So, I am confused. Could you please tell me which recovery image should I use? A small background information, I bricked the phone before with rooting procedure by the same reason and gave it back and got it refurbished. So, I am not sure but the motherboard information recorded somewhere else may mislead the Recovery Flasher application.
Thank you,
Omer
Which version of the recovery you should use is dictated by the version of your radio, not motherboard.
2.xx.xx.xx - G version
3.22.xx.xx - H version
hope it helps!
Thank you for the reply. I checked the radio version and it was 3.22.xx.xx. So, I tried the HTC version. However; The recovery manager didn't let me flash with this image. I think, I have the same situation as this post has
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=680793
But, I didn't yet root my device.
Thank you,
Omer
What exactly spl do you have?
Turn off, then turn on by pressing Back + Power, post first 5 strings.
If you have 1.33.2010 S-OFF you can revert back to radio 2.22.XX.XX
This is the 5 lines.

Thank you for your help.
Since you have s-off already, just download 1.33.2005 SPL and do
fastboot flash hboot 1.33.2005
and
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Wrong forum by the way dude
But before flashing SPL, shouldn't I flash radio? Sorry to ask newbie questions but I am really lost and I don't want to brick the device.
By the way, My device is HTC Sapphire aka HTC Magic. That's why; I wrote in here. Is it wrong?
Thanks.

You have 2 methods to restore 32B radio and hboot and get ability to flash 32B-roms
Method 1.
As you wrote - you have S-OFF, so fastboot commands are allowed
You can simply run
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot flash hboot hboot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot reboot-bootloader
where:
radio.img - radio 2.22.19.26I
http://member.america.htc.com/download/RomCode/ADP/GIO/ota-radio-2_22_19_26I.zip?
Unpack it from archive
hboot.img - hboot 1.33.2005 eng s-off (Haykuro DangerSPL)
http://rapidshare.com/files/247838950/update.Engineering-SPL-HBOOT-1.33.2005-signed.zip
Unpack it from archive
recovery.img - Amon_RA Sapphire recovery 1.6.2 G version
Important: flash radio then hboot. Don't reboot after flashing only radio.
Method 2. You can use rom.nbh from official update for 32B Magics:
create goldcard
unpack rom.nbh and rename to sappimg.nbh, copy it to goldcard
flash in hboot-mode (VolumeDown + Power)
You will get 1.33.0007 perfected SPL, so you must root device next
But one thing... you have S-OFF - may be you have engineering device - so you can use fastboot commans always - it makes flash-process very easy)
5 thank you for the instructions. This is what i was looking for. If any other experienced user confirms it might work, i would like to take the risks and do the instructions then share the results.
Experienced users, what do you think?

Sent via the XDA Tapatalk App
Go for it.
I took the encouragement and gave the first command and unfortunately got this error. I guess, this is not engineering device :/

S-OFF - it is hboot without security. It means, that everyone can use fastboot commands without any warnings.
Magics have S-OFF, if it developer or engineering device OR if hboot patched by someone
There are some patched (engineering) hboots for Magics, but not for [MT3G 1.2]
In manual to root patched hboot is using, but if you stay with it - touchscreen does not work. Don't know why.
Thanks 5. I believe I'm good now, just have to be patient and await the arrival of new ROMS for my MT3G 1.2
Appreciate all your assistance in helping understand better about my phone.

[FIXED!] HTC Magic need help! phone bricked?

Hey guys
I'm so desperate and you are my last hope. I was looking for hours in several forums but didn't find any solution.
What I did:
I updated the phone to 6.35 Radio and 1.76.2007 SPL and installed a Eclair ROM. Everything went well until I installed ROM Manager app. Then I installed Cyanogen mod through ROM Manager and since then nothing works!
What's the problem:
When I switch phone on it sticks on the HTC boot screen and nothing happens.
I can go to fastboot mode but ADB doesn't recognize my phone.
I also can go to recovery mode and ADB sees the device but I cannot install any image and I cannot choose any item from the menu.
What I tried:
connect with fastboot usb: phone isn't recognized
flash via fastboot in recovery mode: <waiting for device> no response.
Install a sappimg.nbh from sdcard: Fail! main version is older.
My version:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G (why G??? isn't that the 32B version?)
HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPP10000)
RADIO-6.35.10.18
Thank you very much for your help!
LOL, I almost started cracking up. "Help me, you are my only hope" (Star Wars)
Anyhow.
Start over. Download the stock Rom, radio and spl for your MT3G. I ran into something similar with mine. I had to erase system from the CLI (command line) fastboot and wipe the phone. Then used the stock sappimg.img to get mine functioning again.
This will "Unroot" your phone
I had to plug the phone in via usb. Go to terminal or dos, and fastboot.
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot erase boot
fastboot flash boot boot.img
from there I turned the phone off, and then I copied sappimg.img to the memcard, and then booted using the vol down + power and let it install the factory rom, radio, spl and recovery.
Or you also stated that you have yours rooted. You're going to have to download the original radio, and rename it to radio.img and then flash it over using fastboot. (fastboot flash radio radio.img). This would get you to the original radio. Then I would revert back to the original ROM w/root ROM.
This worked for me. Im hoping that someone else will chime in and say if this is the correct method to use. Im not an expert. I did this at my own risk.
Someone else want to chime in?
Thanks for your help!
I wasn't conscious that I cited a Star Wars quotation :-D
First I tried to follow your steps but without succes. When I run "fastboot erase system -w" it says: remote not allow. It seems my phone isn't rooted anymore.
Also the command "fastboot flash radio radio.img" doesn't work.
Where can I get the stock ROM? Is there a possibility to extract these files from the RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Europe_3.05.401.3_release_signed_NoDriver.exe tool?
Nevertheless I keep going on although I'm a little bit tired of this issue. However, it's my mistake.
The reason why I wanted to flash my device was because I was sick of this old, boring and lame Android 1.5. Why isn't HTC getting ahead and supplies us more up to date software? An ambitious single programmer is able to provide Android 2.1 but HTC with its high-paid engineer team isn't. That's weird!
It looks like you have to put on one of the engineering SPL's first in-order to wipe the device. By the way, mine is a 32A board, and has "G" also. Weird I know.
I believe the RUU ROMS are stock. So flashing these to the phone should unroot your phone. There is a list of all the RUU ROMS and guides here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=659403
or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682243
These are great sources of information. I'm not an absolute expert, more of a novice. I'm new to the AC but, reading guides and such, you should get your answer and you can try a few things (within reason).
BTW, when you said that fastboot flash radio radio.img doesn't work, have you downloaded the stock radio and spl and copied them to the AndroidSDK\Tools folder? That's probably the reason it isn't working. You have to have the SDK downloaded and installed. (Read The Guides provided to help you) "Use the Force!" HAHA!
So I tried many different ways to save my htc. But by now no success!
As I described I can go into fastboot but I cannot run any commands (remote not allow). I haven't root anymore!
When I go to recovery mode it sticks. I cannot choose any item from the menu.
The only way to get the phone working is via the sdcard. It's possible to install a sappimg.zip but it says: "Fail! Main version is older!" So i have no chance to downgrade. I need a sappimg that has a higher version than my current one.
Also rooting seems not to be possible due to I have to access recovery mode (which isn't working).
Finally, the only way I see at the moment is trying some stuff that works only via the sdcard.
Thank you guys
If you are getting that sort of error that indicates that you have not created a correct goldcard. You need to have that in order to flash these devices.
Go to theunlockr.com and read that tutorial about how to create one. Or click here:
http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/
Are you really sure that`s because of a wrong goldcard? I´ve tried 2 different sdcards several times but every time with the same error (Main version is odler).
No further ideas?
I can't do anything. recovery mode always crashes, no root access, goldcard doesn't work.
Finally I'm back on Android!
I could solve my problem. I found a sappimg.zip (http://rapidshare.com/files/266290371/sappimg.zip) that turned my phone to:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0009 (SAPP10000)
RADIO-6.35.10.18
After that, I was able to flash trough the _HTC Magic_RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Europe_2.20.401.2_HTC_CH_release_signed_NoDriver.exe.
Now I'm running on a stock ROM

Help: Flashed a bad radio and bricked my phone

SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32A SHIP S-ON G

I flashed the 2.22.23.02 through fastboot by mistake and now I can't get into recovery mode, or flash any other radios onto the phone. The fastboot menu is the only thing I can get to on the phone.
I tried reflashing the 2.22.23.02 again but it won't go through...
Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to unbrick it?
Edit: Tried sappimg.nbh via volume down and power button but i get a Model ID error. Now i can't fastboot anything over to my phone.
Edit: Flashed the sappimg.nbh, sappimg 2.16.707.3, sappimg 2.53.707.2, via gold card but I now get the error: Main Version is older!
I have answered similar questions before...
Use the search function.
But to get you started here is a quick solution.
1) flash eng spl that starts with 1.33.20XX where XX can be 05,09 or 10.
Restart into fastboot.
2) flash the right spl/radio/recovery combo.
This is confirmed to work....
Next time post ALL fastboot info... there are some info mission in your post!

I have just tried flashing hboot-1.33.2010 via fastboot.
However, I get the error message:
sending 'hboot' (512 KB)... FAILED (remote: not allow)
do this:
----- If you boot into fastboot and have issues with "fastboot:remote not allow", then your SPL won't work. Upgrade to Engineering SPL before continuing.
----- If you do not have an Engineering SPL, download 1.33.2010 and flash through recovery before starting this procedure. Flash the SPL update.zip like any other update.zip file.
in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=605239
Unfortunately... I can't boot into recovery either, nor can i push a recovery image to the phone. I get the same error: "fastboot:remote not allow".
ok... you are very limited...
Do this:
Find a suitable sappimg.nbh... Not sappimg.zip...
Use this which i just uploaded for you:
http://rapidshare.com/files/421772202/SAPPIMG.nbh
Using your goldcard flash the sappimg.nbh in fastboot.
The sappimg.nbh does not need any unzipping... it's a complete img of the nand and overwrites everything.
I can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere....
is there a way to create a goldcard at this point for me?
I can't get into debug mode on the phone (for obvious reasons) and therefore can't do adb....
Find ANY android device and make a goldcard...
Then use the goldcard on your device...
wouldn't suppose anyone have the goldcard.img from their email that they could send me...
1)Download the -G magic RA recovery
2) rename it to recoveryG.img
3) run 'fastboot boot recoveryG.img' (with the phone in fastboot mode)
4) allow recovery to boot then run the following adb commands
Code:
adb push recoveryG.img /tmp/recoveryG.img
adb flash_image recovery /tmp/recoveryG.img
5) Now power down the phone
6) boot into recovery by holding home+power
10) flash 1.33.2009 or 1.33.2010
Now you will have fastboot again
Most likely you will want to find and flash via fastboot radio 3.22.20.17 if you are not a Rogers/Fido customer or have signed the e911 wavier, otherwise you want 3.22.26.17..
After flashing the 3.x radio flash RA -h recovery via fastboot (and while in fastboot run 'fastboot erase system -w'); this will let you flash the ebi1 rom of choice
I just downloaded the recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img
renamed it so recoveryG.img.
When i try to run the command: fastboot boot recoveryG.img
I get the error message:
downloading 'boot.img'...FAILED (remote: not allow)
Then its best to just install the official e911 ruu from rogers and re-root
I have tried that, but it doesn't work...
What's your fastboot info?

Yes, I'm also not sure why people are ignoring that fact that you can't use fastboot either :-S
My bad, using my phone and completely missed the first page.
EDIT: I think mum was on the right track. Your going to need a goldcard. No one will be able to send you their .img because its SD card specific. You don't know anyone with a Android based phone?

Looks like i'm getting progress....?
I have a gold card now thanks to my friend, however...
when I try to flash the SAPPIMG.nbh I get a Main Version is older!
I also tried the 2.53.707.2 SAPPIMG.zip and I still get this error.
I also just tried 2.16.707.3 SAPPIMG.zip and I still get this error.
YOU ARE STILL MAKING THE GOLDCARD THE WRONG WAY...
You should not get that error msg...
Try to remake the goldcard.
Did it on two different SD cards, the same way I did it before to get my phone off perfected SPL... not sure what I could've done to do it wrong this time around.....
a mmc CID can't change right?
followed this guide:

Possibly bricked?

So, I've got a MT3G that is apparently bricked. My buddy tried flashing a CM6 ROM and didn't root it properly - I'm assuming anyway since it's still S-ON. It powers up, gets to the CM Andy on a skateboard and gets stuck in a loop there.
I can get into SPL but that's it. I've attempted to erase the recovery and flash a new one with no luck. I can get it recognized via ADB with [ fastboot devices ], but I'm not sure that helps me much.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I don't mind the work, just need to find a way to get it past this point. If I can somehow manage to get it rooted from here, then flash a recovery so I can a ROM, that'd be awesome. Here's everything from the SPL screen:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT 1.33.0006 (SAPP30000)
CPLD-10

Hi!
You're not recognized via ADB if you type [ fastboot devices ] and it gives you your phones S/N. You can be at FASTBOOT, HBOOT or RUU. To be recognized in ADB you have to boot in to RECOVERY or in to SYSTEM.
If you have working HBOOT (can boot to HBOOT with pressing VOLUME_DOWN+POWER), I suggest you to make a goldcard, download a stock rom for your MT3G (In FASTBOOT you can type [ fastboot getvar cid ], and the first 8 digits will tell you your phones CID number.). Extract the downloaded RUU and find the rom.zip (rom.nbh) file. Rename it to SAPPIMG.zip (SAPPIMG.nbh) and put it in the root of your goldcard.
Start up your phone with pressing VOLUME_DOWN+POWER.
If you get error about "Model ID" then your MicroSD is not a goldcard and you downloaded a "wrong" RUU ("Wrong" RUU (Phones CID not correct) can be good, if it is for MT3G like you have. Only you must create a working goldcard.).
If you get error "Main Version is older" then try to find newer RUU.
I hope, I helped you...
And then make the rooting with more care
