[INFO] Bluetooth Proximity App - Android Software Development

Hey guys,
I seen an article about an app for OS X that lets you run scripts based on bluetooth devices near by. I was wanting to do the same thing but for the android device. Maybe your phone is almost dead, and when you get to your computer, it was detect that device and remind you to plug your phone in, or maybe you want to sync, it will remind you when in range of registered bluetooth devices. How hard would this be? Also, I am a big fan of Titanium SDK, would it be possible to use that to make this app?
Thanks for your time and input!

Bump? 10 char

I think this can be done with Tasker.

Regarding power option

Hi Guys,
i have been thinking galaxy tab as car pc as it has everything i need but only one thing is stopping me .
Is there a way we can turn on and off it from remote
like when it start getting current from adopter it start and when it stop getting electricity from adopter then shutdown . this one of my crazy idea
or something like that .
if any one share some knowledge would be great .
thank you,
MasterSquall
Not sure, but the turning pff part should be doable with Tasker (on the market, not free) while the turning on might be more difficult.

Remote Control

Hi,
Firstly I'd like to say hello to all as I am a new to the Motorola Xoom.
My question is that I have a htc desire mobile and wish to control my Xoom device with it while the xoom is connected to the tv.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
Your help would be much appreciated.

I have not come across anything to do this yet but I was considering writing something based on the Bluetooth chat code in the API to do this. Its not a priority at the moment because I have several other projects on the go :S
I may look deeper into it once my xoom arrives, I think it will be useful. Need to see if I can hook some global media controls somehow.

There is a VNC server in the market place for Android, but it currently does not work on the Xoom. I am waiting for an update to it for the same reason.
Thanks for the info, hopefully something gets released soon as im sure linking the android mobile device to android tablets would be used widely.

[HOWTO] Use your Epic as Mouse/Keyboard for other Android devices

So, as far as I know, this should be able to control PC's too, and maybe PS3's. But, I've only tried this on other Android devices. Should control anything on CM7.X, or anything on any form of Android 3.0, 4.0, and 4.1.
Prerequisites(Epic 4G specific):
Has to be on an AOSP based ROM(CM, AOKP, Paranoid, etc)
Step 1.) Enable Bluetooth on your Epic 4G and other Android device.
Step 2.) Pair the devices together
Step 3.) Now, install "BluePutDroid" on your Epic from the Play Store.
Step 4.) Open BluePutDroid, hit the Start key on the top left
Step 5.) Swipe up the "Log" bar to make sure there were no errors. If there were, try step 4 again.
Step 6.) Tap the device you want to connect to(your other Android device)
Step 7.) When it finishes loading, the screen should be green. Swipe on this to move the mouse on the other android device. Tap once to click on the other device, and hold down till the screen turns red to do things like scrolling, drag and drop, etc.
If the S/W keyboard shows up, hit menu "Toggle Soft Keyboard" to hide it. If it keeps enabling itself, install "Null Keyboard" from the Play Store and set that as your input method while using BluePutDroid. Also, the H/W keyboard works great. So you can use that to type, or navigate with the Dpad
This app works on other devices as well, but I can't go into great detail on ROM compatibility and such.
If your device has CM7/9/10 or any AOSP based ROM, this will work.
This will work on the (rooted) stock ROM of some devices, such as Nexus S(all forms), Galaxy Nexus(all forms), and Galaxy S3 (all forms)
On other's it will not work on the stock ROM, regardless of root, such as Galaxy S(entire first series), and many older HTC devices(not sure of newer ones).
According to the app developer, this is kernel related and nothing he can do; if it works, it works. if it doesn't, get.cm
Thanks! I'll look into this.

I can confirm that this works with windows and linux - I've been using this app for nearly a year, and it works well
But I didn't know it worked with other CM devices - that's an awesome find

Would this work if the other device doesn't have bluetooth?
Amazing stuff though, I wish my netbook had bluetooth that would have made it even more amazing lol.

It connects through bluetooth and sends commands through bluetooth... so sure, why not?

Lol. There is an app called WiFi Keyboard that'll let you type using your Epic, but its not near as awesome as this. And all text gets sent through in Caps lock

There's apps for PCs similar to this. Like RemoteDroid and gPad. I'd prefer gPad because it has many other uses, like controlling windows media player, microsoft powerpoint, and using it as a mouse/keyboard obviously. But again, it's over WiFi. Bluetooth is beta AFAIK.

This app has been around for at least a year - the benefit of bluetooth is faster response times than over wifi. I think that's partly the result of the direct connection, and partly because the wifi methods involve a computer-side server (often using vnc, which uses some processing time to send a live stream of the screen, even if the connected client app doesn't need it, such as with a remote kb/mouse app)

I can also vouch for this on the ps3. Donate, help him out and no ads.
My wife was giving me **** "you are so techy, why can't you ruin the ps3 with your phone". So i googled and XDAed until i found this app.

I love to log on while the wife is using the computer. Move the mouse as shes trying. Priceless. I use advance touchpad. Its via wifi but very responsive, and it gives me all the keys. I have to be able to windows key + p to switch to my TV.

After they shut down the servers for setting them up, I quit using it. If you use cm 10. 2 with amp support and cheap cast its almost like it still works, but i haven't taken the time to put it on yet. There are guides. Don't trash it though. There are still people that will have uses for them as a desktop computer.
I haven't used mine in 6 months either but I am gonna dust it off and try to load 10.2 on it next week now that the hdmi and spidf are working. Does anyone know what keyboard and mouse combos work? I thought it was a Microsoft wireless 800 combo that I was using last time with wireless adb since there's only one USB.

I just installed cm 10.1 using the method posted by user ianandamy. Works great and my input methods are a Microsoft wireless mouse with with an OTG cable connected to the Q, and I have a wireless Bluetooth keyboard. The only things I would like to see fixed are the primal LED lighting function, and a way of powering off the Q other than unplugging it.

Does it allow it to run like a chromecast and stream media from the phone ? I miss my original q

Actually found mine in the cupboard the other week, got it working thanks to a few forum posts here, running CM on it, using it as a quick XBMC streamer + android games console with a Moga BT joystick... works a treat.

If you install CM on it and then install cheapcast, you can cast to it as if it was a chromecast.
since putting CM11 on this device it feels and works amazing!!
-full screen immersive mode
-transparency
-snappy
-play store works perfectly
If anyone is in the UK and willing to part with their Q, I'd love to make you an offer!

[Q] Broken screen, how can I make a backup?

I dropped my G2 and unfortunately, the screen broke. The touchscreen only works in certain areas, so even when I can get into TWRP, I can't use it to make a backup. Here's the thing; I want to back up everything. Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can do this?
Can't you reboot it into TWRP and then use adb to pull the data partition from your phone?

Just tried that. For some reason, adb isn't working on this PC quite right. This problem with my phone is one of many I've been having with all my computers as of late. I'm getting kind of sick of it
When I broke my screen I used USB OTG with a keyboard/mouse. My newest Logitech with a Unifying receiver didn't work but an older one did just fine.
Perhaps there's an app I can use? I really don't want to go out and buy something I'll only use once; I just want a simple straightforward solution.

LG PC software has an option called on-screen phone. I used it once with my optimus G with similar issues. It takes control of you phone through wifi.
