[Q] [q] how to phone thru blutooth connection ? - Eee Pad Transformer General

hi
i would like to use my asus transformer as a hand free bluetooth handset
i paired my tablet with my phone, but it always said 'paired, but not connected'
i can use a app to do file transfer between my phone and the TR so i know that the two can work together
i just want to receive my phone call on my transformer..
someone can help me ?
thanks

this has been a common quesiton. from what we've seen, there is an app called syncsms to get your messages. As for taking calls, you probably would need to use google voice and forward your calls to the google voice number...

thanks....

Using an android device as a blutetooth "headset"

Hi!
I have a question regarding android devices in general. The main question is if this idea is possible with the right app or if you need special hardware?
I want to develop an app that let's you use any android device as a bluetooth headset connected to a cellphone. The setup is primarily for a car installation but other uses are also possible. This is how I want it to work:
I install an Android MID in my car and connect it to the stereo using a cable or bluetooth (depending on whats possible) to get the sound from the mid to the cars speakers. On this MID I'll have google maps and Spotify (or pandora) for navigation and music. So far this is nothing special, but I also want to be able to answer and make calls from a connected (bluetooth) phone (like on many dedicated gps).
By doing this I want the driver (any driver) to be able pair his/her phone with the MID. The calls to the connected phone will be displayed on the MID so their phones can stay in their pockets.
1. Is it possible to answer a telephone call to a cellphone by using an "answer" button on a bluetooth connected android device? Example "My Desire is connected by bluetooth to the android MID. When an external call is made to the Desire I can anser it from the MID".
2. If the answer to no 1 is Yes, is it at the same time possible to share internet via the same bluetooth connection?
Anyone have any idea if this is possible with the right app or if it need special hardware?
Sorry for bad english and long question..

With the right app, sure. Not sure if you can do it over bluetooth tho, maybe get a SIM for the MID and have your phone forward calls to it while your in the car. But i bet someone could figure out the bluetooth thing.
First of all, there is a problem connecting to the phone wifi due to it being an "ad -hoc" network. But the phone through the tablet is a great idea and some of us are working with such a prototype called "FLEX" it will be a small unlocked cell phone device that connects via BT to the tablet and handles the phone function for the tablet as you have described. Send me a pm if you would like more info.

I know he is talking about Bluetooth... but he also mentioned wanting to connect to 3g of the phone for data I believe.
I've actually had this idea as well! I don't know much about bluetooth programming, but there should be some way to spoof the phone bluetooth device ID or whatever to make the other device believe it's talking to a bt headset. I'm going to guess it might require root.
If you do decide to start coding something like this, let me know how i can help (ie, testing).
cheers,

Thanks for all the answers. I don't think I'm able to program this myself but was interested in if the concept was possible. If it is I sure hope someone creates it. I would pay good money for a solution like that and I think others would to.
If you come across more information regarding projects in this area please let me know.
Thanks again.

(Idea) @Home App for Android

I have this awesome idea for an Application.
When I come home at the end of the day, I tend to plug in my phone and get on my computer, or laptop. Who doesn't?
Now think, when you get a text, you have to pick your phone up and answer it with the touch screen, which can get real old when you've been doing that all day. Why not answer it on your computer screen just like an instant message?
This app does that - SMS2PC
This app works great and is definitely worth the money. It pulls up a notification saying I got a text, I can pull up the thread and respond from my pc screen. Start threads.. all that.
But this app does not allow me to answer calls, which would be even more awesome.
What I would like to see, if not already existent, is an Application for my phone as well as computer that is able to do both. Answer calls and sms, as well as send calls and sms.
It'd be so nice to sit my phone down, or on the charger, and just not worry about it. When I get a call, it pulls up on my computer just like SMS2PC but I can answer the call with my headset or webcam..
Does anyone know of an app like this?
Also if not, if any developers would be willing to do something like this, I would be more than willing to donate to the cause.
Thanks,
Asher
Bump, anyone have any ideas on this subject?
Not phones but DesktopSMS by the maker of Clockworkmod seems to work pretty well.

I know MyPhoneExplorer can answer calls, but I'm not sure about the webcam part...
I also don't know it the sound will pass through the PC or that you still have to use the phone, would be a great function though!
doesnt htc sync answer calls?
EDIT:if you have a htc that is...
and if you connect your phone to your pc via bluetooth im pretty sure you can answer calls too.

I have a HTC, HD2 to be precise.
My HD2 has WM stock, I flashed it to Android (CM7 rom).
I can't use HTC Sync, MyPhoneExplorer is quite the same, can connect via WiFi, USB or Bluetooth.
I'm not sure if HTC Sync can answer calls, never used it.

[Q] Is there a method to use my N7 as a phone handset via bluetooth?

Hello folks, first thank you for helping me with this one or if not, thanks for reading anyway.
I was wondering if there was a way to use my Nexus 7, in conjunction with my ancient sliderphones Bluetooth, to use the the tablet as a handset? I.E. keep my ancient obsolete sliderphone in my pants and dial and answer phonecalls on my tablet perhaps with an added bluetooth mic?
I tried searching to no avail but perhaps I wasn't using the correct search terms.
Thanks.
try tablet talk dunno if it will work with your old phone tho
Thank you for the reply. The feature notes states an Android phone which I do not have. Oh well, thanks though.
you can always try you have 15 minutes to get your money back after buying an app from the market place
Dont know but you can make phone calls for free on the Nexus 7 with talkatone
