i wounder if any of you can help, my bluetooth doesn't seem to be working, have tried now from 3 phones to send things over to my M500 using bluetooth and it just gives a connection error message on the phone i try to send from? why is this? is getting v.annoying?
also why can't i send things from my phone using bluetooth like a picture for example? is this just me being stupid and missing the option somewhere?
thanks,
tom
turn on BT and make discoverable,
Turn on accept incoming beams
use beam to send stuff via BT. (Its not just for IR)
cheers for that - all is now working fine
Tom
no worries.
the beam thing got me at first too, ended up phoning orange about that....the resolution was the level three support guy told me that the m500 must not support file transfere over bluetooth!!!!
soon found out about the beam

Hi,
I've recently purchased an xda 2 from O2 it came with a free bluetooth headset, but I've a few problems and wondered if anybody could answer a couple of questions.
1. The little blue flashed LED, is it meant to flash all the time that bluetooth is being used? It seems to start flashing and then just stop.
2. When I go into my bluetooth settings and turn it back on when it's switched itself off I don't get the LED flashing then I go back into the settings again and it says that it's off. Is this what it's meant to do?
Any good guides/tools about using bluetooth with this device?
Beginning to pull my hair out and I've not much to spare!
Cheers
Marc
Free? from O2? how?
1stly howd u manage 2 get sumit out of O2 for free? i would be worried about that allready!!
what bt Headset did u get? with mine, i get a blue light flashing intermitently when the headset is turned on, and it doesnt change when im making a call.
which bt settings are you talking about? obviously you need to have bonded with the device, which the headsets instructions should cover.
to turn bt on the phone on you click on the bt icon at the botom of the active screen and select the On radio button.
if headset profile is enabled then there should B a small blue headset symbol next to the bt symbol, if its not set, or not turned on then it will be gray. if it is gray then click on it and hopefully it will turn blue to activate the headset profile.
there are sum interesting bt tools around, but the "recomended" setup is the Pocket Bluetooth Tools for the O2 XDA II and the MDA II which is available from here:
http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html
I hope that helps.

sounds like you are using bluetooth tools and have got the clock symbol live (not greyed out), it times out the internet connection but doesnt seem to tell o2's software that it turned it off so when you go in, it quite often seems to think its on when its actually off !!
Hi, I didn't have the bluetooth tools loaded, but I've downloaded them from the site you suggested and everything seems to work better.
The headset did indeed come free from O2 I was quite surprised too.
I've think I've attached an image of it, not sure what make it is does BlueTrek sound good?
Yeah that sounds about right, their website doesnt actually give any details, helpfull as allways!!
neway, have u got everything working properly now?
Smiley
Hmm...somebody had the same problem with his Bluetreks G2 and the XDA2.
He did a special pairing mode and it solved the problem.
I think its in the G2s instruction manual.
Had a look at the manual can't see anything special in the way that you pair the G2 to the XDA2.
Do you use this bluetooth toolkit?
It still seems flaky, I tried answering a couple of calls with the headset yesterday and nobody could here me at the other end of the phone. Sometimes I get it where the phone says that I have "no bluetooth available" I have to remove the battery and insert it again. Is this normal?
Regards
Marc
Marc,
I get the same symptoms you describe when I'm using ActiveSync with my XDA2 over bluetooth, but never with my HBH-65 BT headset. I'm not using any additional bluetooth tools or anything like that. Just the standard built-in bluetooth on my original (November 03) ROM.
Sometimes if my bluetooth ActiveSync connection is idle for a while the connection drops and the flashing blue light on the XDA2 goes out. However, if I tap the little blue BT icon at the bottom of the Today screen, the setting shows that BT is still turned on. I have to tap it on, then off then on again to cycle the status and convince the machine that bluetooth is really back on again. :? This sounds like the problem you describe.
However, no problems like this with my BT headset, which works perfectly.
This isn't any help, but at least you know you're not alone!
Does anybody know if a registry entry exists to turn the bt headset profile on and off?
I've got headset working now but it switches off frequently.
Cheers
Marc
I have a BlueTrek G2 for my Imate and it's working with no problems at all ... I tried BT tools but didn't find it useful as I thought it will give me a "Hands free" profile but it doesn't :x
mokl: maybe it's a ROM issue ... mine is 1.72 WWE, what's yours ?
The rom version is 1.60.00WWE
Just to let everybody know, I had some major problems with my bluetooth on my XDA 2. Tried everything, eventually got a replacement from 02 and the new one works fine now, so it must have been a hardware fault.
Hi all,
Not sure whether this has been asked before (I searched the forum for it, but couldn't find any directly related subjects):
Does anyone have problems with receiving files from other phones/MDAs using Bleutooth?
I am experiencing problems with this: I can send files to other devices using bluetooth, but somehow I can't receive any files (it fails every time I try).
I already tried with enabling/disabling the incoming port, choosing a serial profile, etc, but nothing worked.
Does anyone have a a solution?
BTW: my bluetooth connections to my headset and BT GPS mouse all work.
Thanks in advance!
Desmo.
for receiving files from a pc, you pretty much need to have BT turned on that the devices paired. For receiving files from other handsets etc, you need to ensure that your device is discoverable to other devices in the BT settings (start->settings-> connection-> BT make sure both boxed are checked)

Thnx for the reply, but I already tried that. I put Bluetooth in several modes, on and discoverable. In both modes I could only send data, but couldn't receive data from other sources like another MDA or phone.
I also tried changin the inbound and outbound COM options, didn't work either.....
Can anyone help pls pls?
I have the same problem on my o2 xda exec.
I switch on bluetooth, & make it discoverable by other devices.
I can send files no problem but when i try to receive files from another phone, the other phone says "sending failed" all the time.
Ive tried with an established partnership and without, make my device discoverable, messed with the incoming/outgoing com port settings etc etc
pretty much everything i can think of but to no avail.
Anyone else had this problem and managed to over come it?
Ahah
Sorted it.
If you upgraded to the lastes o2 rom 1.13.188 the accept incoming beams is turned off by default.
Just enable start>settings>connections>beam "enable all incoming beams"
enable bluetooth, make your device discoverable.
Now you can receive files over bluetooth.
No need to mess with com incoming/outgoing ports.
Thnx Sirius-C! That should work indeed.
BTW: 10 types of people in this world. LOL!
i have a mda vario and i want to beam files to another phone thru bluetooth but there is no outgoing port. when i go to bluetooth settings and to com ports, only new incoming port is shown. i cant add a new outgoing port. please someone help me on this.

Hi,
You'll probably need to start bluetooth via the comm manager.
It will find other hardware with open bluetooth ports.
- Go to the file you wish to beam to someone else.
- Tap the file (keep the stylus on it untill you get the menu)
- Choose " send file" (this might be called differently, my version is dutch)
- Select bluetooth.
Good luck!
Greetz,

it doesnt seem to work
when I beam a file, it never detects a bluetooth. all it shows is the Infared and searching... it searches for a long time but never detects a bluetooth. any other suggestions?

Hi,
The procedure I gave seems to work properly with my MDA.
You could check if the person you're beaming to has bluetooth (turned on) but I guess you've checked that already.
Otherwise try to minimize the distance between the two pieces of hardware.
If that doesn't solve your problem, I can't help you any further, maybe bring it by the shop where you bought it to have it checked?
Good luck & greetz,
Flar
yeah same here never managed to get bluetooth to work
i found that i needed to enable beam recieve in order to recieve on bluetooth, the incoming and outgoing port stuff i left alone.
so i can now receive files but haven't got a clue how to send them, i make a bluetooth partnership ok (my mate can then send me a file) but i can not find the option to send one back. the file explorer menu doesn't have bluetooth listed on it?

I am having this same issue. Anyone know the solution? All I want to do is send some files to my wife's v3 but I cant setup a new outgoing port. I am running the latest official rom from cingular.
You need to ensure you already have bluetooth turned on before starting this procedure (many miss this simple point, as they assume it will automatically turned on)
Tap and hold on the file you want to send, and select "Beam"
Wait a few seconds for it to scan for devices.
All IRDA recipients (If any) will be listed, and below them, all available Bluetooth recipients will be shown.
Hope this helps you m8
I'm using TMobile MDA, newest ROM, and having the same problem, I'm able to recieve bluetooth but there is no option for beaming a file via bluetooth, only IR... and yes, bluetooth is enabled properly and I am properly partnered with a V3...

Make sure both phones are enabled to be "seen" . My friend and I were trying to figure this out the other day, and she has her device set to something like 'make this device invisible' so even though our phones were next to each other, her device wasn't showing up. Once we changed this, both devices were visible.
***However, neither phone was allowing the sending of files to each other thru the bluetooth, and I'm wondering if this has something to do with her having a Sprint Treo 650 w/ Palm OS, and I have Cingular 8125 w/ WM5.... anyone have any answers for this one??***
Thanks in advance.
Hi all!,
I own a qtek s100, and I can perfectly send files to other devices,
but I can't receive anything from the others. If someone tries to send
me something via BT they'll always get an error connection.
Do I have to make any special configuration?.
Thanks for your help
PAU
You should swith on "Recive all incoming beams" in Setting/Connections/Beam
I tried it but It didn't work anyway,
any ideas??
Sorry,
do you mean the infrared incoming option?.
Do you have to activate it even if you want to receive sth via BT ?
I'll try it later on,
regards,
Eduardo
Yes this option swith on|off beams over IR and BT
You should activate your BT, and make sure that it's ticked in the "Make this device discoverable to other devices", then go to Devices menu and search for new devices.
IR and BT has got nothing to do with eachother
IR is light, and the devices have to "see" eachother ( IR-eye to IR-eye), BT is radio-waves, and devices don't have to "see" eachother, the range is app 8 meters...
.
U should try one of the bluetooth drivers you can find on this forum. I had the same problems with some samsung phones. I installed one of the bluetooth drivers and i had no more problems with sending and receiving files.
for example this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=36395
Hi, I have a problem with BT. When i try to send any file to anoyone, it's ok. However when someone tries to send me a file, it will write that Connection Failed. Please, if you know how to repair it, write me pls Thanks
is it set to auto recieve beams in network settings?
Oh, I didn't have set it... but now I set it, however I don't have another MT with BT, so i can try it today in the evening, but Thank you very much for the advice
I have been having the same problem here.
So Bluetooth and Beam have to be enabled to receive via bluetooth?
Tested this with a friend this evening, and I can now receive files via BT, I had just assumed that "Beam" meant IR connections.
Thanks Rudgar, looks like you have helped me out again.
Before it really meant only IR, but M$ decided to continue with it's a bit skewed (fuzzy?) logic...
Won't that drain the battery faster?
In case of BA yes, it should, because it will also activate IR receiver. In case of devices without IR (more more now) it should have no visible inluence, if BT is already active.
