Does the Blackstone support imap idle or another kind of pushmail solution?
Yeah, there is support for Direct Push through an exchange server, or for Imap4/Idle through 3rd party solutions like Fleximail or this promising free one http://www.codeplex.com/ImapPusherService
While Imap has the advantage of WLAN compatiblity, I still have to check the effect on battery life
perfect! I'm thinking of changing my email-domain to Domainfactory, which offers free Push-mail http://www.df.eu/germany/produkte/mymail.htmla
I wanted to make sure that both (Domainfactory and Touch HD) will work together.
Would be nice to hear your report of battery life.
can you use push-mail with gmail like on the g1 ?
@bug-i
I am using the free http://live.mail2web.com/ Direct Push for years. Only disadvantage over Imap is that one cannot send email with your choosen email address, you have to use theirs. But lately I am using Imap only, because it works better with different mobile operating systems
@L0ser
Yes, with the free PocketOutlook plugin mentioned in my post.

Would really be interesting if there is a solution to use push-mail with gmail...
Well, you could forward your gmail to a free push provider, and sync gmail that way. But I think Imap is a easier solution, and not bound to Microsoft or RIM.
anyone got web2mail to push email to their HTC?
Hi chaps,
I wondered if any of you have got this to work? I've followed all the instructions setting up a free push email account with web2mail and setup activesync to receive messages as they arrive, but I still dont get the email until I manually sync.
The only thing I think maybe breaking it, is the fact that I have setup nodata on my htc as my carrier charges loads for using data (I have wifi switched on and connected instead)
Any ideas chaps?
Imap Idle with gmail support, scheduling, etc... Look for email scheduler, it is posted here at xda, and avail here. I am curious how it works on the Blackstone.
Does anyone know if this programs runs on htc touch hd?
http://www.codeplex.com/ImapPusherService
I will runs quite well. I have been using it for about 2 weeks now with my gmail account and only bug is that it gives an error message after soft reset, but nothing major. All in all i've been satisfied with the program.
Seven works very well also:
http://community.seven.com/choose.html
or alternatively you could just set the native email client to check for mail every minute if you have an unlimited web package (joke)
Edit: I can confirm that the program you linked to in the first post does indeed work on the Touch HD - just tried it successfully myself!
I just downloaded this, but before I install it, I was wondering: Can this be configured for multiple accounts?
Thanks!

Hmm. The most frequent option I'm given on my Touch Pro is every 5 minutes...
The programmer of the application you have referred has "disappeared" for quite some time. Webis do a full email client that supports IMAP Push without any other add-on, however it is not a solution if you want to use the inbuilt mail program.
An alternative that is I use now is Mail2web, which has a completely free option and is based on microsoft exchange, allowing you to use the "proper" email push service. Simply forward all your emails to that account.

Mail2web is only free for US, UK and Germany. Others countries now have to pay a monthly fee.

I assume this is going to have a rather negative effect on battery life?
Strange I never saw any link for a free service on the mail2web site. It seems they've discontinued it alltogether.
Try SEVEN, free too.

not that i'm aware of... but you can use the GMail ActiveSync option to push your email and sync your contacts and calendar with your phone (as long as you're not already using ActiveSync)...
Im using gmail activesync now and it worked great on my contacts and calander but the emails take almost 30 minutes to send and 30 minutes to receave. even if i manual hit send/receave. is there anything i can do?? i set up for direct push as email arives. is there anything else to speed this up so it works like my old blackberry?

Wait for the real thing and use Android itself, I am beta testing them and it
all work great with syncing up my mail, agenda and contacts. The only thing
were waiting on is to standby your screen, if that works then (for me) its
almost fully tradeable for Windows Mobile.
don't you know you can integrate gmail's email / contact / agenda into the Manila already?
just add an exchange source from m.google.com with your gmail account.
MOD EDIT
Moved to general discussion forum as not related to rom development
Has anyone managed to set up their N1 to work with a hosted exchange server? My corporate IT doesn't have a clue what I'm talking about unfortunately. We use USA.net to host, I have a proxy exchange server I have tried as well as the usa.net server that shows up in Outlook. I love this phone but if I can't get exchange working it has to go back. Any ideas or experience would be appreciated.
Should work fine. I use mail2web hosted exchange. You wont get your calendar but you'll get contacts and email. There are other options for getting the calendar working. Motocal.apk is one of them.
Should being the operative word here. Every configuration I have tried has been unsuccessful. I was hoping there was a super secret setting somewhere for hosts or proxies that I was missing.
I connect to exchange server 2003 with no issues. Make sure they have webmail enabled. Are exchange server is xxx-exc-01 and I use webmail.domainname.com to connect to the server via webmail.
I use touchdown from the market. The stock app doesn't support many of the security features corporations use in exchange. Touchdown is free and full featured for 5 days so you can see if it works for you. It does calendar and tasks too and works better than any of windows mobile phones.
If it works it costs $20 after the trial but it is worth it.
I use a hosted exchange also and have no problems. Are you sure you are putting the proper username in? For example mine is exchange/e123456789
Also, make sure you have their correct exchange server address. For example, 1and1's address is exchange.1and1.com
What is probably happening is that your Nexus One isn't an "accepted" handset... I work for a carrier, and they and they had to change the email security settings to include the Nexus One before it worked...
I used TouchDown during that period, and like it a lot! Very good app, can get it free if you take advantage of the repeat trial window issue. I am using the stock app instead of TouchDown, though, since I prefer it's simplicity.
Well, touchdown works with the same info that didn't connect on the default app. No push though, which is strange. Thanks for the heads up on this app, I'm not too fond of the interface but it is better than nothing.

You can get close to stock app interface by making a homescreen short cut straight to your email folder:
On deisred home screen... Menu:Add:Shortcut:Touchdown:Inbox(I think is what they called it, recently flashed a new rom and didn't re-install so can't say 100%).
It will be a homescreen short cut straight to the inbox like the stock app does.
Hi everyone..
The Q title says it all, are there any E-Mail apps for android out there that support multiple exchange activesync (EAS) accounts and can show HTML in its native form?
From my knowledge, the stock HTC mail app doesn't like EAS too much, Improved Email doesn't support HTML, K9-Mail doesn't support EAS, Nitrodesk Touchdown doesn't support multiple accounts!
Can anybody point me in the right direction?
Anyone??? Moxier and RoadSync also only support one exchange account at a time.. Maildroid doesn't work with Exchange. I used Seven a while ago but it had partial wake problems (killed battery), can't download from their server right now but not sure it supports HTML viewing.. running out of apps!
That's exactly what I want in an email client too.
I think some people get html with the stock froyo email client with Exchange 2007. I'm using the stock email on my DROID (2.2) for my Hotmail and my work email (Exchange 2003?) and I don't get html or images. Some messages look like garbage without html... too bad.
I used K-9 for a while, and despite some bugs, it is a great email client. I hope K-9 supports EAS someday.
So, just all I can say and what I use is the stock FroYo, that support multiple EAS, I do use 2 different (Work/Home) as fine as it can.
Only missing thing, no tasks..... Gingerbread ??

Does it also support HTML formatting and images for you?
I use Improved Email at the moment.. which is apparently a modded version of the stock client, it handles multiple accounts perfectly, is good to the battery, allows unlimited mail sync (not just upto 30days) etc but it doesn't display Hotmail via EAS in HTML.. that's the only extra functionality I need, tried the stock Froyo client before and it obviously doesn't support HTML, wish they would add this in!
Hi there, any update on this ?
I'm stuck too with plain html tags all over my synced mails with froyo stock client :'(
The stock email app on the Droid X does this i believe. i can add multiple exchange accounts (i only have one so i can't test it but it doesn't stop me from adding another) it also renders html...

Huh. My guess is that your Exchange servers are 2007 or 2010. I have stock froyo on my original Droid, and I get no HTML for my Hotmail (activesync) and my work email (Exchange 2003?).
Most of the time it doesn't matter, but some of the email I get looks awful without HTML and requires a lot of scrolling. On hotmail, sometimes the HTML tags even appear in the message.
