So I bought one of the cases recommended over in the accessories forum, which holds the tab propped up at an angle. It really helps with typing and all around use when you set the Tab on a desk or table. The way the case works, the camera is on the side closest to the user. Whenever I open any game (Angry Birds, Vendetta Online, etc) it flips the orientation so that the camera side is on top, instead of on the bottom. This has made it unusable! The case designer had the right idea, since putting the tab in the other way would expose the charging port (It's a folio style case). I've tried turning off the automatic screen orientation setting, but it didn't help. Any ideas?

I'm not sure I'm following your description of how the case functions. Something like this? Could you link the case model?
I've been wondering about this as well. I really don't think there's anything we can do about it..

Here is a link to the case I bought.
Pics here & here of how the case folds.
Regardless of all that, the real question is... How do I run games and such with the bottom of the screen being the camera side? I thought the whole point of doing away with all the physical buttons was so that it could be rotated any which way?!?

Total guess here, but maybe it has something to do with applications that need to track orientation (like Vendetta) and/or programming decisions by the developers (Angry Birds?).
If its a programming thing, maybe theres a way to send a bug report to the developers about the orientation issue and they could roll it into a future update.
Or ... just learn to play Vendetta with the thumb controls and Angry Birds must be a whole new experience upside down ;-)

So far, mostly a positive experience switching from my HTC Advantage. As expected, the capacitive thing will take a few days/weeks to adjust to, but I've found that a light touch does wonders.
Thanks to the xda-people & searching, I've found solutions to many problems I had (like tcpmp crashing till I got the correct cab). A do have a small list I'm looking for help on that I have not found a solution for.
(if I missed it in searching, sorry - please send me a link!)
- Automatic Phone profiles. I used to use SPB's Phone Suite, which isn't compatible with 6.5. I tried Phoneweaver last night and it worked very well - but is crashing all over the place today. Just sent them an email. Is anyone using an automatic volume adjuster with no problems?
- Speaking of crashing, getting the &*@%& battery lid off is a problem. Probably needs to work in a bit, but I can't do it without a mini-flat screwdrive, and I already put one scrach into the back of the case They just couldn't put it someone more accessible?
- Mentioned in another thread, but I can't seem to find any software that remaps any of the buttons (especially volume buttons). I've read that Voldpad & AEButtons work for other people, but nothing working here yet.
- My other big crashing problems seems centered around contacts. Adding them to my favorites is causing lock-ups about half the time, but when I reboot the changes took. Editing a contact (say adding a ring-tone) is also locking up the phone when I save/go back.
- Synching: probably related to contacts above. 1st synch works well. Afterwords, it is getting hung on contacts as well. If I delete the partnership is synch ok again the first time.
I think that's my big ones for now. I'm only 1 day in, and yesterday was pretty busy so I hope to have more time today to do some installs & play more.
Thanks for any help!!

PS - I didn't install any Freecell or Sudoku yet. I'm used to VGA. Anyone have a recommendation on ones that work very well with the HD2 (I didn't even google this yet, but thought I'd ask)

I hated the battery cover, until I found an easy way of lifting it up without tools.
use your right hand, and place your index finger to leverage the phone (face down) at the bottom of the phone near your buttons. (make sure you grip the back of the phone too just in case it tends to fly off)
use your left hand and have the thumb push up against the battery cover on the side with the indent in it. you should be able to lift your battery cover off without problems.
after 1-2 tries, it should be easier to lift off. I like the security knowing that it's not going to fall off, but it's really tight to get off at 1st.
Sounds similar to the video I saw on youtube. Time permitting, I plan on opening & closing the lid many times today (using screwdriver if needed) to loosen it up so I can take it off when needed.
----
In other news, I'm not using a screen-protector (yet) - need to read the thread on the protectors. I'm not too worried about scratches, but the fingerprint on the screen is worse then I thought it would be.
I'm carrying around a small microfiber now. Might have to find a small one in a sleeve or something to carry permanently. I have glasses, so I probably should have one handy anyway.

Next, a minor problem with Resco Pocket Player that I just read a solution to, but thought I'd post it for anyone else - you can't click on the screen to change settings in options. To get around it, bring up a keyboard with arrows & use those and enter keys instead.
--------
Finally - on the Sense Photo & Music tabs - is there an easy way I'm missing to specify and/or limit directories to look at? For now, I disabled both tabs in favor of Resco Photo Manager & Conduits Pocket Player. I did read about a hack to make Resco Photo work in sense, but haven't tried it yet.

Thats got to be one of the best typos' I've seen, I'd rather not shove my HD2 in someone though!
I'm currently reading on the Tmobile US forums about the problems with Messaging causing problems (although I've only seen it with Contacts so far). But I don't use email messaging much, just SMS (don't know if it's the same subsystem).
Anyway, going to try the suggestions of switching from HTC messaging to standing messaging (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556614) and see that is my contacts/synch problem. I wanted to post it in case any lurkers have a similar problem. Will try to post later if this helps.
yes sense messaging causes lots of freezes if you get lots of texts saved and having swype enabled agravates the problem.
ive had no issues anywhere else or with contacts

As for your last point: At least on the Photo tab, you can specify the Folder shown up: Open up HTC Album and go to the folder you want. Then hit Menu and select as Favorite. Then this folder will only be shown in Photo tab.
Just saw this: http://pocketnow.com/software-1/bug-hd2s-sense-may-freeze-with-contact-favorites
Sure enough, one of my favorites (ie, my wife) has a lot of notes & doesn't have the xml stuff. Will try the fix tomorrow.
auto speaker?
anyone else having their speaker turn on automatically during a phone call
That is one I'm not having, HectikDroid.
I did reply to another thread about calls that went straight to voice mail.
Still not connecting to weather serivce either (yet another thread with little replies).
Actually, most frustrating part is trying to find out if others are having similar problems or it's it me (either bad phone or accidental messed up setting or the like).
Glad to see pocketnow posting about the big contact problem I had.

I saw a youtube-clip where a guy demonstrated that u could use a pen (or other objects) to control the screen. Was going to try this in a meeting today, but the function seems to be deactivated. I have browsed through the settings and can't find the option to active this.
I have tried the setting enabling the use of phone with a glow, but it wont recognize any of my pens.

Any chance of a link of the YouTube clip to see? I'm pretty sure those pens would've been a capacitive type for it to work on the screen. There are even some that look like a ball point pen, but is actually capacitive.

Wow! I stand corrected and humbled! He definitely mentioned "conductive", but all the objects he used were everyday objects! I even tried with a pen and it worked! Didn't even have to enable the extra sensitive function. Gonna get a milk bottle next to try, haha!
Are you using any screen protectors (film or glass)?
I know on mine, it's a matte finish, but they say that gloves and capacitive pens would still work.
Hi all, I am a student at the Software Engineering Department.
I have to choose what will I build as a project. I came up with "VR Escape Quest".
Now I wonder if it is possible to make that kind of project using Unity and Google CardBoard
In this quest you will be in a room and you have to escape from it solving different kinds of puzzles.
The main way of interacting with the world is the trigger on the CardBoard. I imagine it will work like this. In the center of a screen there will be a point and when that point points to some object and the trigger is triggered (sorry for wired lang, I am Russian) it means that you perform an action with that object. (choose or open some kind of menu, etc.)
In the beginning of the game you will be standing really high above the room and the room will be divided into sections and when you point to one, it will be highlighted and when you trigger it you will be brought into that section of the room where you can interact with the smaller objects. Once you click on one of them a menu will pop up asking if you want to put it in a bag or something. If you long press the trigger that object will rotate.
SO, is it possible to make that dream happen?
Maybe you will suggest an easier way of interacting with the environment, I will be really glad for it. Thanks in advance!
If I stick to this theme, I will post my progress in this thread.
I don't know how it will be gameplay wise but my approach would be to get rid of physical interaction as much as possible I.e. Not using a controller.
I'd prefer to just stare at a door for 2 seconds and then it opens or state at an object for 2 seconds and a pop-up happens so that you can choose from there.
No idea if this makes sense in most situations
Is there any way to increase the screen sensitivity on the T280? I've only found one mention of the issue after thoroughly searching Google, with no suggested fix.
I'm comfortable with modifying system files such as build.prop and such, I just have no idea where to start!
The issue:
This screen is really slow to pick up touches, especially from a stylus.
When swiping (eg for pattern unlock) contact is often broken.
Even using my finger, when selecting text it's difficult to move just one letter at a time.
In handwriting/drawing apps, resulting text is extremely angular and jagged.
Here's what I've tried:
Changed "mouse sensitivity" in the settings (minor improvement)
Used 2 different screen calibration apps (minor improvement)
Installed debloated ROM (only one available; no improvement)
Removed some unnecessary system apps (will be removing more to free up space....)
Disabled settings that affect device speed such as animations
Several different stylus types (the most expensive work worst )
So, is anyone else finding this an issue? Is there a fix I don't know about? Is/are there a kernel tweak or something that will speed up screen response time?
I bought this tablet in part so I could use it for handwriting input using a stylus on a larger screen than my teeny S5. Unfortunately, the screen response is far too inconsistent and ...well, slow than I'd expected.

Unfortunately the drivers or the touchscreen hardware itself for the T280/T285 is not that good. I have a drawing app that I created myself and the touch event update rate is so slow it creates jagged lines. Best case is that it is a driver issue and we can fix it in the kernel, worst case the hardware just sucks and it is what it is. On my OMNIRom 6.0.1 SM-T285 device touch response is actually ok, it is the update rate and precision of the touch which is a problem.
Thank you so much for the quick reply, and for understanding what I mean.

Hooray for drivers being a possibility! There's something can be done about that!!
Do you find that the lines aren't quite as jagged running OMNIRom as with stock?
How would someone find out whether it's the hardware or the drivers?
Are the differences between 280/85 so extreme that I can't try anything on my own?
Is there anywhere I can "sign up" for testing any new tweaks or ROMs or kernels?
(Update on the issue: I ran the "screen calibration" test again and it says it's taken another 10ms off the response time. Not sure if I'm imagining it but it feels as if it's actually faster...)
I was also thinking, would the DPI have anything to do with the jagged appearance? Between this tablet and the 2 others I was looking at (both Galaxy - previous 7-inch and 9-inch) those had much better DPI ...or am I thinking of resolution? Those aren't the same thing, are they? In any case, it's worth checking into whether fiddling with the DPI might do any damage.

We will need someone to tinker with the kernel sources to found out. For the SM-T280 someone is working on making the kernel sources work. Unfortunately, though annoying it isn't really on the top of my list right now.

Based on the software codepath, DPI shouldn't really affect touch performance.
I wound up returning it and picking up the 7" Galaxy Tab E Lite (SM-113), which seems to suit my needs much better. While it's much more limited in some ways - no custom ROMs, limited to KK4.4.4, same small internal storage issue - the screen response is WAY better and I can get around the annoyances (largely - no, SOLELY - due to all the things this forum has taught me over the years. :highfive:

Similar issue
Hi,
Was wondering if anyone with these issues also experienced this: While the tablet is on, when watching something for instance, if the touch screen isn't used for a bit (say over 30 seconds) when I first press it it doesn't respond at all, to get it to wake up I have to press quite firmly, usually several times, before it starts working. Once it does respond I can use a much lighter touch so it doesn't seem like a screen protector or overall sensitivity problem, it's as if the screen goes into some kind of sleep mode becoming much less sensitive.
Anyone know about this/how to fix it?
Much love,
Tom
I am on XDA, so obviously into tech. However, I have never wanted a smart watch because my watches have always worked just fine and I didn't want to complicate my life with another device. Now, I am considering a smart watch, but only because I want features of certain faces from watches I can't afford. So I am looking at some websites like facer and facerepo, and I see these faces, but I get the feeling the faces don't really do what I want. Jumping right to it, here are a few faces I'm talking about. I want to know if any of these actually have a fully functional rotating bezel slide rule, because they don't really say on most of them.
https://www.facer.io/watchface/UJHabwygLz
https://facerepo.com/app/faces/details/citizen-promaster-eco-drive-15be46ec61a
https://facerepo.com/app/faces/details/navitimer-world-164d340d79f
Point is, if I could have any watch, I would want a Breitling Navitimer, but I can't spend $5k on a watch. I want a chrono with 3 subdials for seconds, 30-60 minutes, and 12-24 hours, along with a slide rule bezel. I assume most of these faces don't have a functional bezel ring. Some of them that I have found specifically say that the bezel ring is for something like battery charge or simply not functional.
But then there are some like these...
https://facerepo.com/app/faces/details/titan-gmt-diver-15412757952 (It says functional diver's bezel ring, and "just start tapping")
And most particularly interesting to me is this one:
https://www.watchfaces.be/roger-dubuis-diver/
It specifically says tap 12 o'clock to access the dive bezel and tap center to zoom. So this tells me that I am able to make a face with a rotating bezel function, but I can't test it out since I don't have a watch, so I don't really understand how it works.
So my questions are basically, is it practical to make a rotating bezel function like a slide rule? And secondly, what exactly does the "zoom" look like? Because small numbers on a watch face are difficult to read. Can I make a face with slide rule bezel that works and be able to zoom into a portion that I am trying to dial in and then zoom to another part of the ring to read the numbers? If so, a smart watch is in my future.
Finally, I see some of the watches like the Samsung Galaxy or the Fossil Sport that have physical pushers on the face. Can I program those to work like chrono buttons? Or do they only function for OS navigation? I would like to be able to make a watch that functions like an analog watch and uses the pushers like a regular watch if possible. I don't even really care that much about the smart functions right now. Any advice is appreciated.
You can use facer and watchmaker without watch. It is an Android app working on phone. So you can load the faces into the app and see how they works. I think that Watchmaker was better (and easy) than Facer. For bezel rotate or anything else you can do what you want yourself with Watchmaker(facer) so no limit

If those features are available to make into a face, I guess it might be worth it to try it out. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into the watches more and will try a face on the phone before I buy anything, to make sure I like the functions.
