I would like to switch from MAGDLR to CLK for the sole purpose of charging my phone when it is off. Since I read that CLK is able to do this.
I would like to know how I would go about this since I thought about going with HD2 Tookit to ease the process a bit for me.

1. task29 (if you want to start with complete clean nand...)
2. the partitions are created by flashing clK (you have to choose the clk nbh file with enough space for your rom (in your case 140/5mb or 150/5 ))
3. install cwm recovery for clk
4. flash your rom with cwm

I also read through the CLK release notes and it mentions that it does not support rmnet and MAGLDR does. What would that missing functionality affect exactly?
After reading through the above tutorial, I read I need a specific radio version. Where would I go to check the Radio Version? It's not like WM6.
Lastly, after reading the release notes, the developer of CLK has a bit of a negative tone towards CLK and mentions that it really isn't any better than MAGLDR. So given that would anyone advise against CLK? I really would like to charge my phone while it is off and MAGLDR currently does not support that and I'm not sure if it will ever.

Hi,
The main difference between magldr and clk is the charging whilst it's off.
There are some complaints of data loss with clk,but this can be overcome with various wrappers.
Clk is native Android and has the advantage of being able to use ROM Manager too.
I personally find magldr easier to use,and have no use for charging when it's off,cos I have 2 batteries.
Magldr also has Tetris.
And now of course there is THIS TOOL (Don't forget to thank him).
Read the thread and see the advantages/disadvantages.
mate, you are thinking about it too much. pick one and go. give it a few days. if something is not working out, switch it. and to put your fears at rest, cwm can be used on magldr and clk. you have nothing to lose.

This whole CLK memory loss thing concerns me so I might be sticking with MAGLDR, though I really wanted to charge my phone while it's off. Hopefully, someone will patch MAGLDR with that functionality. I'm not sure what the wrappers are but I suppose they are patches of sorts.
Also, would there be any way to preserve my memory of my phone like my contacts and stuff or do I have to erase them? I have most of my apps on my SD card so they should transfer over when I go to a cyanogenmod7 rom right?

when you start fresh, it starts fresh.
my contacts are synched via gmail; i suggest you do the same or some other 3rd party app.
apks are not preserved unless dl'd from a market. but if you dl Astro from market it can backup all of your installed apks (free app btw.) just reinstall from sdcard after starting fresh.
i do not know if a nand backup from magldr would work on clk. i wouldn't as issues may arise.
now just do it. install clk. it's okay. everything will be fine. backup before you do and if clk isn't for you, return to magldr and reinstall your nand backup and all be like it was a bad dream. go go go!
Ok, I gonna go ahead after just two more questions. I don't really use my data on my phone. I only really use it to send picture messaging. I run on AT&T so I can only get EDGE speeds but I do use wifi many times for a quick search on the internet. Now, if I flash CLK since it doesn't support RMNET would it somehow impact my usage?

Hi,
I can't comment on on the quality of data or wi-fi that you will get.That is something you will see when it's installed.
If you use the toolkit, you will be firstly installing cLK.Then you will need to install a system partition for the ROM you intend to use.You choose the size according to the information on the [OP] of the ROM you want.During this process the system partition is created and CWM is installed.
So are you saying that the lack of RMNET can affect the performance and/or usage of Wifi and EDGE?

I,in fact have magldr, and have no such problems.
That's fine I was just wondering. I have MADLDR right now as well and it does not have any problems but I just want to be fully educated on CLK before I take the plunge. Also, I had another question in my previous post that you might be able to answer. Does CLK already have CWM incorporated into it because the tutorials I read on installing CLK takes no mention on installing CWM but rather it just boots into its menu.

If you take the plunge and install cLK,follow the steps on the toolkit.
1.task 29
2.install cLK
3.System repartition according to the ROM you want to use.
This repartitioning installs CWM as well.
Well, I flashed my phone and everything works but I used a pdf tutorial from the rom's page and then just used the Toolkit to only install CLK and partition it. Anyways, now that everything is working how can I change the Phone's POST Screen. The very first one cause I have this stupid NRG screen when I used his roms and that one replaced my T-mobile one. I'd like to replace it regardless. How would I do this?

Ah great! Thanks for the info, just a few minutes ago I flashed a different splash screen and its all good now! Yeah thankfully, I didn't really encounter any hiccups when I was installing all this stuff. Just had to edit a .bat file for my fastboot since the guy who made the premade package did not update it with the newest CWM but I got it and changed it so it flashes CWM 4 for me.
Also, even though CLK doesn't have RMNET, it isn't affecting my wifi usage so that's a plus and I really do like CM7 especially the sleep animation when you go into or out of sleep. Thanks again for all your help guys!

I came to this phone solely because there are so many roms to choose from and a lot of development. In the past I have worked flashed dif galaxy s phones, and mytouch 4g so I am not a complete noob.
When i power the phone on these are displayed:
R: 2.10.50 26
G: 15.39..50.07U
D: 2.13.90963 8G
In settings my flash size is 1024mb
I read the guide through and I just want to be 100 percent clear that my phone is capable of something before I flash it. So in short, do I just flash hardspl to phone, then magdlr, then the rom? I have a macbook pro and my windows desktop is old and sucks so I try to avoid using it whenever possible. Once i flash hardspl and magdlr can I use clockwork recovery to flash my rom? I am going for the cm7 nightlies. All help is greatly appreciated!
Yeah that's correct. I don't think there are any osx installers though, so you'd probably have to do all this through bootcamp. I don't have a mac so I don't know about the stability of bootcamp, but you really gotta make sure your computer doesn't crash during the flashing process, especially HSPL.
After having Magldr installed you can either use that to flash, or indeed use clockwork (which I recommend). MDJ's Gingerbread is a great CM7 nightly build.
Thanks for your quick reply! How long does it take to flash hardspl? And do I need to have that activesync thing going with windows mobile? This phone is 100% stock I dont want to back it up so can I just avoid windows mobile active sync and run that program in the noob tut
And one more thing, do I need to check to see if my stock spl is supported? What is everything I need to verify to ensure I will not brick the phone due to flashing the wrong thing? Thanks
Go to the guide, it tells you what you need in there. HSPL takes seconds to install. Once that is installed, it's pretty hard to brick your device. Just be wary when installing a stock rom. Best advice is to read lots.

I'm guessing you have a T-Mobile so watch out! Don't flash an EU-radio.
If you want android your radio is good. No need to change it.
Flashing a rom takes only 3-4 minutes, but it will stop at 96% or 99% for a few secs, so don't freak out
also be sure to flash the newest version of HSPL. and check the youtube vidz, there many around. you don't even have to read, just google youtube+HD2+hspl
The support for this phone is much better than other devices, quick responses thanks! Just to be safe I am trying to find the windows sync thing for the phone. When I am finished flashing hardspl and magdlr do I need to format my sd card to a special way or can I just delete all the stuff on it and put the rom?
I strongly recommend that you first install the official 3.14 firmware, It has the newest radio so you don't have to worry about bricking your phone. After that flash hdspl and you are safe and ready to install magldr and Android.
Depends on the rom, zip, app2sd+, cwm, anything which mentions ext2/3/4, data.img data on sd, all require certain partitions. I would recommend starting with projections rom. It's quick and easy to get started with, and is a good base to get some confidence.

I just installed the hspl and now i am going to do the magdlr. Really I only want cyanogen mod 7 nightlies on here. I am pretty confident its just whenever it is my first time with any phone I like to be 100% clear because they all vary. I didnt get to looking at the installation of cm7 yet but I am sure I will be going to ext4 with it too. What format do sd cards come stock? I just wiped everything on it but im guessing thats not enough lol.
Um confused... I just got around to flashing magldr 1.12 and it said on screen and in guide post it will take ten min, it took no more than 30 sec. It did boot me into the black magldr screen though so i guess its good. Now can flash cm7 or is there other stuff. I am sure I will find out with more reading which i am about to do but I would like to use cwm to do it.

It's just a very wide margin to prevent people from flooding the forums if the flashing takes a little longer than expected, 30 seconds is normal.
Go to the clockwork thread and follow the 7 steps posted, you can then use CWM to flash CM7.
I have been trying to flash with usb flasher and I keep getting an error.
Error Description: USB init failed.
Can I flash cwm from magdlr? Every time I reboot it goes to that.
I see two possible problems here:
- In Magldr, have you picked menu item #4? (Something like USB Flasher). If you can still see all the options on the menu, you have not correctly selected it.
- Your USB drivers are not correctly installed. Reboot computer, power off and unplug phone, replug and restart Magldr. Wait for drivers to correctly install.
I just did what was suggested and same thing. Can I install it a different way? Option number 5 is usb flasher, 4 is mass storage.
My bad, I'm still using an older version of Magldr where it's #4.
What are you flashing by the way, CWM or CM7?
By the way, are you running the flasher as admin? Not sure which OS it is you're bootcamping, but right click on the installer and choose Install as administrator should be an option. Might be the problem!
I am on my desktop pc which is xp so I do not believe i need to run as admin. I was just checking out another post in this forum that has a fix for nand usb init failed, I am lost as to what daf.exe is. It sounds when I figure that out I should be good to go.
And I am trying to install cyanogen mod 7 mdj's version. If I can not get usb thing to work could I install clockwork mod without having to use computer and jsut put a .zip file on sd card?
I just hit run and typed DAF.exe and there isnt one. I am not completely lost lol
DAF.exe is the clockworkmod flasher.
I'm not sure what's going wrong, but just try everything again and make sure you follow the instructions very closely, you're probably just overlooking something somewhere.

I'm an Annoying Noob to you, as you probably already guessed. But I made this account, because I want to root my phone to Android gingerbread, with a -STABLE- sense (2.1+)3.0 UI.

BUT! I'm REALLY a noob at rooting. I've tried HaRET rooting, with a Nexus android Rrom, well... That didn't go too well, because via my SD things would become veeeery slow after a while. So I NAND rooted my phone to Android Gingerbread 2.3.3. I'm quiete happy with it, but it's not really the HTC feeling I get when I look at the UI.
So I saw sense 3.0 and fell in love.
Well enough about that. I have an HTC HD 2, it's NAND rooted and it's European... ALL I want is a STABLE sense 3.0 rom... That works for my phone.
Now I was wondering, if I would instal it... Would it work properly for me? None of us are sure. So that's why I want to back-up my ROM. With Clockwork rom recovery tool... you know, from the market. Well I get a very annoying error every time I try to back-up my data. I did flash the app to it's most current version, but when I want to make a back-up, my phone just reboots... and does... basically, nothing.
I don't want to mess up my phone entirely. So what should I do first, dear XDA'ers? Please, I just don't want my data to get lost. I tried multiple tutorials but none seem to have the answer to my problem!

rom manager dont work with magldr.
To make a backup boot into cwm manually:
hold power down while rebooting -> magldr screen should appear
Then navigate to ad recovery-> backup and restore..rest should be clear.

I just raped my phone I think. I had HSPL installed, and MAGLDR and I think some other stuff too, so I used the first rom the first poster linked, and I downloaden the two files it told me to download in the instructions... I installed the custom RUU from that first rom, and then my phone kinda died. It only said "HTC" in green, and it diidn't do anything. So I flashed it back to WinMob 6.5. Now I have WinMob 6.5 (rom 1.66 or something I think) and I'm not sure what to do next. I don't want to brick my phone and I don't want WinMob 6.5 either.
*Sigh* I wonder if I'll ever understand rooting.

if you have come until mgldr don't give up. download the nand tool kit i mentioned a few posts before.choose and download a simple rom for beginning (you may take tyweens typhoon) put it in your sd. after that you will take a few steps. don't be afraid,many people (including me) faced same problems.

Thing is, I don't want a simple rom... I'm stubborn like that, hehehe...
I want a sense 3.0 rom, but I'm not sure how to follow the instructions in the thread. It uses terms I've never heard from before...
Well, if there's a stable android 2.3.3/2.3.4 rom with sense 2.1, I'd consider that! Also, I hate the MAGLDR boot screen... you know, "Go go go!" I saw a rom with a very smooth and pretty boot screen... I'd try that too!
i just say if you can succeed to flash one, then you will learn the steps. after that you can try a different rom everyday,as i do

Yes, I have. I made a 2 gig EXT-4 partition. I just don't know what to do with it. I have Radio Leo installed, MAGLDR, HSPL... CWM and all that.
I tried flashing the two roms you suggested in your first post but they are stuck on the boot screen. I don't know what I'm doing wrong...
have you made necessary cwm partitions using usb flasher and nand toolkit?

You have to be careful when flashing the radio on a tmous model. This is where you can brick your phone. Do not use the radio that is used in the guide. I think it is not compatible Ruth the tmous hd2. Read here about it when you do not know what your doing. You should not start flashing before you understood everything what you do.

alright...calm down. Before you want to embark on any customization, ensure you have the correct HSPL and a radio on your phone. First enter the bootloader. Check your current SPL version. It should read HSPL2.08 if you have flashed HSPL correctly. If its correct, download and flash Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14** (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787). If you want to flash any another radio, ensure it is a .50 version(x.xx.50.xx**) After flashing the radio, enter the bootloader and check if the HSPL and radio is correct before you move on. If you want to flash a custom WM rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=534), please do. Ensure that the ROM is compatible with the TMOUS HD2 (compatibility will normally be stated in the first post). I understand that you want CM7 on your phone. To play safe, i recommend that you stick with windows mobile and tinker with a SD Android build before you to venture into dual booting WP7 and android.
Download an Android SD build (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=735). I am using AmeriCan Android (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957652). After extracting,copy the Android Folder into the root of your sd card. Boot into WM, navigate to the Android folder using the file explorer and tap 'clrcad' followed by 'haret'. Android will now boot(first boot will take some time).
Hope this helps and like what rauschkugl said, kindly do some research and reading first. Try the tutorials out and after you are comfortable with flashing, you can move on to WP7, NAND android and dual booting between Wp7 and SD Android: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17282874&postcount=3 (ignore step 1).

If you want to flash a custom WM rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=534), please do. Ensure that the ROM is compatible with the TMOUS HD2 (compatibility will normally be stated in the first post). A complete and detailed guide on all of the above can be found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614).
I understand that you want CM7 on your phone. To play safe, i recommend that you stick with windows mobile and tinker with a SD Android build before you to venture into dual booting WP7 and android.
Download an Android SD build (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=735). I am using AmeriCan Android (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957652). After extracting,copy the Android Folder into the root of your sd card. Boot into WM, navigate to the Android folder using the file explorer and tap 'clrcad' followed by 'haret'. Android will now boot(first boot will take some time).
Hope this helps and like what rauschkugl said, kindly do some research and reading first. Try the tutorials out and after you are comfortable with flashing, you can move on to WP7, NAND android and dual booting between Wp7 and SD Android: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17282874&postcount=3 (ignore step 1).

bro thanks alot for your help i have a few questions and conerns since i have read most of the guides and im nothing but confused cause im just looking to do a nandroid install on my htc through magldr.
i have installed hspl and the radio.
question#1) radio .50 and above that you install what differences are there and how can you tell ?
question#2 i am using hd2 android nand toolkit cause i used to have SGS vibrant and i used a similar tool kit which makes your life so so so so so easy cant thank god enough for that. so can i just use that and keep running and gunning my htc hd2 down with it.?
question #3 how do i know which rom is compatible etc etc the page of the original rom is soo detailed its like im lost to find the download file but i figured it out that i am looking to get magldr file but still the compatibility with north american htc hd2 and etc etc.

UPDATES# i have used tool kit and successfuly installed my first magldr 1.13 now i need to know how to flash the rom so if i could get some help that would be great and any recommendations for the top notch roms around here would be soo soo soo appreciated. thanks in advance.

update i have installed my first nand cm7 rom feels awesome thanks alot everybody.
any good roms or suggestions for ones with good gps and battery life ?
did you install clockworkmod. if not you should do it because all new roms need it to be installed. i'm running ndt miui right now and for the last 5 month or something like that. tried a lot of roms but battery life on miui in comparison to cm7 was a lot better for me. it also has some nice features that cm doesn't have. but you should try it on your own.
i really can recommend the ndt roms from langthan. he gives great support in his threads and the roms are fast and stable.

my friend if i have installed a rom already do i need to repeat the procedure again to reinstall new roms or what is it only necessary that i need to do please explain to me or forward me to a sticky so i can learn and understand i would greatly appreciate it thank you very much

to make a clean install you can begin from start (task 29, flash radio etc.)
but to be more practical, if you flash with the same nand partition size you can wipe data factory reset from ad recovery and you can flash new rom.
if they have different nand sizes then you just wipe data factory reset from recovery then apply new cwm partition using usb flasher, then flash new rom.
but all rom cookers recommend clean installation (including reformatting and repartitioning sd)

clockworkmod is for installing roms without the need of a pc. you can also backup your whole rom and restore it. so it is very usefull.
you would have to got to magldr to install it. then you can start cwm by selecting ad recovery in magldr. then cwm will start. if you want to install a rom now all you have to do is put the zip file of the rom to the root of your sd card and select install zip from sd in cwm menu. then chose your rom zip and your done. all new roms use cwm installable zips. so this is the only way to get able to use new roms.
after tonnes and days of reading and digging out infos from this forum, i tried as much as i could to follow instructions here:

but then, something went wrong and now my HD2 is not booting up. it is now stucked at the HTC splash screen. i can reboot to get the MAGLDR however.
what i did was, i flashed MAGLDR, as in the first step in the link above.
then i flashed this android ROM:

when you flashed CWM you chose a partition size based on the stated size for the rom you want to flash. it will be in the first post of that roms thread. Use teh nand toolkit, is teh easy way.
EDIT - oh wait, forget that, that rom provides its own cwm, , you have a 265meg system partition, so probably not that, (unless you missed out steps
Download archive with the MAGLDR loader and Recovery from here than unpack its content.

If you flashed magldr then it's all already gone.
I'd try a different rom. Maybe its simply that that rom doesn't like your phone for whatever reason.
Pick a rom
Enter magldr - USB flasher
Flash required partition size using the nand toolkit
Enter magldr option 8 ad recivery
Choose flash zip from SD - choose zip
Probably a stupid suggestion - but have you checked the battery pins? Make sure they're not bent in anyway and that the'yre making contact with the battery.

So I managed to get the stock froyo desire ROM installed. All of a sudden my phone wont get data, I did the apn fix I found, my phone also wont load any of my tmobile information and the charger keeps charging and then stops charging and the phone feels real choppy. I'm new to this phone, and use to others where you simply root, install recovery, rom and be done. I'm reverting back to stock win 6.5, which method would be the most popular and stable for installing android?

Why would you possibly use the stock Desire ROM? It's so outdated, it was really just a proof of concept. It isn't even rooted. Find a ROM you like, then flash CWM (with the correct partition size as per the ROM you chose) and then the ROM with any addons you choose. There are tonnes of detailed guides, use search .
this is the thing that confuses me, I actually downloaded the NexusHD2 Rom, but I couldn't figure out how to install it, I don't think I had a recovery unless the magdlr is the recover(?) Also I was under the impression from what I read that when you download a rom on the computer it comes with an installer built in .DAF or something like that? It was just your average .zip rom, which I got from the NAND development section. I'm so confused with this phone lol. I'm so use to the basic android root and rom and all that. Is magldr the way to go? I want a way thats got a lot of development and stable roms.

This phone isn't complicated, you're just not reading properly In terms of ROMs, once again the Stock Desire ROM is the only exception to the trend, but all other ROMs are flashed via CWM. Read the guide in my sig and it should be fairly clear, if it isn't then you probably shouldn't be flashing anything at all. The outline is:
1. HSPL
2. Radio version 2.08.50 or above (I think. Best solution if you aren't sure is to flash 2.15.50.14).
3. MAGLDR 1.13
4. (step you seem to be confused about) CWM with correct partition size for the ROM
5. (optional) Repartition for A2SD
6. ROM (as a .zip, like any other Android phone)
7. Any extras you may want to flash e.g. Kernels, tweaks, GApps etc.

Not to sound rude, but I'm not stupid, I've rooted over 50 of my personal android phone since the Eris was brand new, I'm not a newb, but this hd2 thing use to be much different back in 09 when it came out.
I did skip the recovery step and the partition. I'm installing nexushd2 2.7 now. I saw the 4.1.1 version was just released, I'll have to check that out now.

Oh sorry, I didn't mean that. I just meant that a little in depth reading goes a long way. I'm sure you're perfectly capable of flashing things and yes the HD2 is different but it's genuinely just as easy if not easier than flashing other phones. Having said that, the only other phone I've flashed is my Dad's SGS3 which was pretty much as easy as the HD2. The reason I think the HD2 is better/easier is that there's pretty much no common way that I know of of bricking an EU HD2. Obviously sometimes people just get bad flashes or through years of flashing get bad blocks, but normally people are fine no matter what they do (within reason of course).
