is it possible to change the sound of the keyboard?
If possible. Is there a way to pull the sound from words with friends?
If not. Is there a way to pull it anyway. And use it for a ringtone?
Thanks

First you would have to find the default keyboard sound. If I am right, I think you might have to modify the system files to default to new sound rather than the original one. I dont believe you can simply swap the sounds. Second, you would have to know what the specific words with friends sound file name is to locate it and copy it.
I am not saying what your asking to do is impossible, but probably too invloved.
Under the the android forums, apps and development section, someone posted an app that they made that can change the system sounds. I haven't tried it out, but pretty sure you could do the keyboard with that app.

Doesn't work!
people tried doing something like this with the htc aria, but there is a problem with using this, the android_id in the db is what bases your market downloads etc. There are alot more settings in this db than just the non market apps.
O really? It worked for me a second ago i think!
Wait, nevermind. Sorry guys!

This is a bad idea. First of all, this will change all of your phone settings to whatever is in that file. It won't just change the non-marketplace apps setting. Second, like shad0wf0x said, this could cause strange problems in the future because you'll be using someone else's unique android id.
alrite, thank you for the info.. someone in the other thread said someone should pull the settings.db file and post it... and thats what i did

That should be a little larger as well as in the beginning of the post.
Also you should remove the attachment
Is there any way to create custom SMS notification sounds or length?
This was my number one complaint with the iPhone and looks like to be the same way on the Atrix.
There are any number of ringtone making apps in the market, just search for Ringtone Maker.
If you mean be more selective and pick ringtones for each user and the like, there is an app called Ringo Pro or the like that lets you set custom ringtones, notification noises and even LED colors for different people.
Thank you!
I use ring extended to be able to select any audio file on the sd card and ringdroid to edit length or use only certain parts of those audio files, ex.. the course of the song.

Or just drop any mp3 you want to use as a notification sound (SMS) into sdcard/media/audio/notifications
They'll show up in the list and work perfectly.
LightFlow - LED Control
works well and very customizable
Is there a way to change the ringtone for the received sms but only from one specific contact?
You can in Handcent SMS. Click on a message thread and in the top right corner you can edit that contact's settings.

Thank you...was trying to figure it out!

Yea.... that's my favorite thing about the Atrix, or Android for that matter, among MANY favorites about the Atrix/Android. You don't need to be running a version of iOS that's currently jailbreakable.... use iPhone Explorer or a similar program to hunt around the core system files of the phone to figure out exactly what M4A file is the sound you're looking to replace.... then find the sound you want to replace that one, and make sure it's in M4A format and trimmed down enough that the iPhone will recognize it for some stupid freakin reason, just to get it to work. And then if you update iOS again... you gotta do the whole thing all over. And then Apple pulls a **** move and releases SMS tones that go on FOREVER! WTF Apple.... make up your mind!
But yea.... SOOOOO glad i got away from that boat.
first, i noticed something that was really important to me and that was that you cant copy past a part of an sms like you could with the gs3.
it sucks because it was something i always bragged about to iphone users who had to copy the entire sms. if you guys have any ideas on how to be able to just copy a part of the texts like a home address and stuff.
second, all share control isnt working anymore which i understand considering theyre pushing watchon, however watch on doesnt have a track pad feature that can control the mouse on the samsung tv that you need when browsing the web.
is there any other app that has that feature or an add-on for watch on that would add that feature?
thanks for the help
no one know?
does no one know of any substitutes for these features?
I use goSMS and you can only copy entire message too. Know it doesn't help but might save you from trying it.

you can use an ugly hack to copy parts of messages - tap and hold the message, pick "forward", then use the normal selection controls to select and copy the parts of text you want.

i have been using the translate feature to do it but i was hoping to find a way not to have to do those kind of detours
You also can't swipe the contact right to call or left to text I miss that feature

I think he means so he can change the dialer tone. In which it's probably inside the phone.apk

Maybe check in system/media/ui?
Edit:
Nevermind its not there. Im curious to where it is stored as well now. Ive gone as far as decompiling the Phone.apk and Contact.apk, and looking through all the folders.
I didnt find any ogg files. I also spent about 20 minutes going smali files which i thought would contain some answers, but still i couldnt find any references to audio files.
Is it possible that the audio is generated purely through code?
That would be surprising because every phone hasn't the same dialer key sound, right?

Maybe try checking the aosp or cm github. You might find something in the "raw" folder within the repos of the phone or contacts app.
Just giving suggestions...the folder might not even exist
First, thanks for answering
In fact I don't want to 'get' those files, I want to know it's location in the system in order to change it

I know. Im saying that you might have to go as far as downloading the source code for the phone app, looking for the file, replacing the file, and recompiling.
OK I'll give a try

Ive seen so many posts that are old enough to be dropped but i would still love the keyboard sounds from the iphone for my phone, would anyone be able to get ahold of some or have any? i found one but the sounds were from an ipad and did not work correctly
try these
im guessing these are sound files in text format?, and thankyou! ill give them a shot
Yes, rename them as ogg, xda won't let me upload ogg format.
I'm sorry to sound like a n00b but how would I go about changing the keyboard clicking sound??
Which directory do I put the sounds in?
TIA
Edit: I found the directory and there is various sound for keyboard clicking.
Which one do I change?

You can rename it "KeypressStandard.ogg" and put it "/system/media/audio/ui/", remember to fix the permission to rw-r-r.
