Ok so I modified the the none bubble Mms.apk for froyo to allow 5mb and high quality (1920x2560) transfers. I'm able to send them fine and I know this cause my friend with an iphone can get them as I sent them.
however if she sends me a pic, my epic will download the high quality pic (700kb), but when I save it to the memory card its only (93kb) and 640x480...
Anyone know why this is?
Is it just a save issue or is the phone not really downloading the full 700kb it says it is?
Thanks...
EDIT:
never mind, I figured it out

It might be nice to say what you did in case someone else has this issue and comes upon your post in search.
Hey would you mind posting the working version.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Ok basically it was a settings issue within the app itself...
you need to go into the Mms settings and under "Custom User-Agent" select "Custom" then enter any name you want for the custom user agent... You might need to restart the messaging app, but I tested it and was able to save at full 2560x1920 ...
I'm going to post the modded Mms as an update.zip in case anyone wants to use it...
It's only been tested on froyo.
you might need to clear the messaging data...
settings>applications>manage applications>All>messaging>clear data
Would u be able to do something lik thi with the bubble version ms.apk of froyo?? If so would it be too much to trouble you for that?

I was having trouble finding decent (HD) or there abouts wallpapers for the d2. Im about to sbf and cant seem to locate my current wallpaper again on the web, when I got it, I just long touched on the screen and chose save as wallpaper. Trying to backup all my stuff and for the life of me I cant find this dang file on my phone/sd card. Anyone know where its located? Thanks.

I'm curious where/how the wallpapers are stored as well. Just for kicks, I went to Google Images, searched dragon, and pressed and held a file named red-dragon.jpg, then selected Set as Wallpaper. Using Root Explorer, I went through every folder on my phone, excluding the ~/sdcard, searching for "red-dragon," ".jpg," and "dragon.jpg." None of which gave me any results.
So, sorry to say, but I think the D2 really likes to hide your wallpaper. :/
Did you know that you can actually google how to boil water? In any case, google is your best friend. Rarely picky and almost never down...anyways, back to topic:
I recommend googling: current wallpaper location android. The first hit helped me a little bit into it. It seems there is this folder called data that you can only access once you rooted your device. Since Im in no need to do so and myself new to android I leave you to do whatever you want with this information.
Im also sure that you will need a root file explorer...only guesses though.

Maybe you were too busy being smug to read my post, so I'll just give you the tl:dr version.
I searched through the entire /data folder with Root Explorer for ".jpg" and found nothing when I was using a "red-dragon.jpg" as my background.
Thanks for your mastery of searching on Google though.
I am not rooted but whenever I save wallpapers from the internet on my phone they end up in a folder titled downloads..that shows up in my gallery and when I look at mt sd card..check to cee if you have a folder titled that as well

I think the system puts things like that in a database file. I have my walpaper of a picture I took but it is no where on the phone. It is defined in an xml file but where actually stored i think it is in a DB file. Sorry I can not make the "thumb keyboard" do commas.

I'm going to investigate this hunch further. I'll search the /system folder for all .xml files or database files. I can't say I'm an expert on the matter though, so... No promises on results.

I don't know if you are still looking for this, but if others stumble on this like I did, here's the answer. in the /data/data/com.android.settings/files/ folder there is a file called wallpaper (no extensions). it is actually a jpg file (if you copy it somewhere else and add a .jpg at the end you'll be able to see it)
@tsachi Here is my question: I would like all these lovely wallpapers I downloaded to show up in the dialog when I press Menu...wallpaper then hit the wallpaper button. The same default papers are always there and I would like to move my downloaded wallpapers to where ever that is.

Thanks tsachi. I was able to confirm this. I couldn't see the contents of /data with ES File Explorer, but I was able to do this through adb:
Code:
su
cd /data/data/com.android.settings/files/
cp wallpaper /mnt/sdcard/Pictures/wallpaper/wallpaper.jpg
exit
exit
Then I was able to look at it in any image viewer.
Not directly related, but I used adbWireless so that I wouldn't need to connect the usb cable and I'm using MultiPicture Live Wallpaper as my wallpaper switcher.

Hey there,
I wanted to set my Wallpaper manually to avoid cropping when choosing a file in the gallery.
On my Nexus 10 running Android 4.2.1 the wallpaper is found at:
"/data/system/users/0/wallpaper"
The file has no ending but is a jpg file (as sad by others).
If you want to exchange the file with yours remember to set the right permissions.
I dont know exactly how they have to be, but if you give all users at least read access it should work.
After a reboot the new Wallpaper should be set.
My wallpaper now has a resolution of 3966x2560 and there are no black bars anywhere. The system seem so crop it on the fly.
Confirmed on JB 4.2, the location is
/data/system/users/0/wallpaper
Copy wallaper to somewhere else and change its extension to wallpaper.jpg and you are done.

Are you referring to modifying your build.prop ?
I don't know of an app that does it.
No...it was an actual app that you could download from the market.
Magic something? I thought it was listed or mentioned in Dex's Mod thread...but it's so long that it takes time to read thru it all
Edit: i think it was Market Enabler...Thanks for jogging my mind.

Market Enabler fakes a cellular provider.
Guess that makes sense since from market on my pc A7 says T-mobile before it, if that was changed could it allow for more apps?
thatd be the build prop. maybe if either the model or key signature information matched the device the gapps came from that could allow for more apps availability in the market.
i noticed i could not see skyfire or another app that slips my mind. i just downloaded them on my xperia phone, copied them from my /data/app folder to my sdcard using explorer and put them on a usb thumb drive to install on the tablet using the preladed oi filemanager. i do have a bandaid solution until the correct build prop settings are found. i'll post another thread for that later.

do note without,
- compass
- multitouch
will also mean that you loose even mroe apps on market with enabler.
you need a patched Market app (check xda for it) to enable all the apps, its widely used on old androids with single touch.
Go here and follow all instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1107499. This will make the option to install non-market apps straight on your device (HTC Aria) appear!!! Enjoy!
Known issues:
- Unable to send/receive mms (since settings are erased - maybe re-inputting them will enable it again?...)
- HTC Wallpaper list disappears (These wallpapers can still be accessed in their root folder - system/customize/resource)

I tried this on two Arias running 2.2 and it worked, but it disabled the HTC Wallpaper section options (the select screen comes up but there are no wsllpapers shown) and the MMS send/receive also doesn't work. As hard reset fixed these issues but also removed the "unknown sources" option.
I can load wsllpapers via the live wallpapers and gallery options, but I can't fix the MMS issue.

it did work for me to unable 3rd party apps installation although it did reset the wallpaper and made the wallpapers disappear from the list but who cares.. I dont use MMS feature, so cant comment on that..
worked for me also but now can not recieve mms
Has anyone tried manually restoring MMS settings?

I'm glad I waited for more replies.
as long as I can download the .apk, its really not that big of a deal to me anyway. Just have to connect phone to pc, find the file, drag it to my computer and then install it with android injector. This works for amazon apps and any app I have download from here.
If u rooted ur phone you would not need this and rooted phones have been able to do this for quit sometime now. Duh!

What .apk are you talking about? There is no .apk you download to unlock this option. You have to clear the data of two specific system apps to do this.

I THINK that he's talking about root not being that big of a deal as long as he can sideload...I'm pretty sure. Over a long time of being on forums, I have learned to read and understand the most incomprehensible of verbiage.
sorry, i was generalizing. basically if you can download the app, even if you cant install it from your phone, there is a simple method to get it installed when you get to your computer.
edit: yes, I was talking about how easy it is to sideload. just my opinion. easier to do than possibly lose mms options with this method to get the unknown sources checkbox.
just going to wait for the actual update. which better come soon. as it was supposed to be out before this thread even started.

The update was out before this thread started but only some (very few) people got it. So if someone can't wait for it, since it seems like no one else is going to get it, and they can afford to lose the mms setting (which could be reset manually), then they can do this method.
We all know that HTC launched the Dot View Case along with the HTC One M8 which impressed a quiet a lot of us. But one of the drawbacks it had was the lack of support for apps other than the system apps.
Also recently Shen posted a tweet showing some progress in the right direction which definitely brought light to our hopes.
So I came across this idea which will help speed this up and could be ready in a few weeks.
My idea is to make use of an app called Dynamic Notifications which is available in the Play Store. For those who don't know, it like the Active Notification found on the Moto X.
So what we can do is replace the icons in the app with the ones similar to the Dot View icons. I have already ripped apart the Dot View App to get my hands on the font used which I have attached below. So using this font we can simple create icons like the one I have attached.
I know it would be inappropriate to modify someone else's work but we could take the permission of the developer and if possible the developer of the app could himself take this project up.
I already tried this but I am kind of novice in app modding and keep getting installation errors.
The icon which I make has white font with transparent background so you might not see the thumbnail but click on it to view it.

did you sign the app? that could explain the installation errors
Hi, Of interest if you install NOLed notifications app from market - which should show flashing squares on screen in stead of LED - designed for phones with no LED, but cool with this case as you should see different colours for each app - only odd side effect - it flashes time and weather when you have notifications - not its own squares - would be good if someone could code something without this side affect.

Hey,
I've been trying to do the same thing. I also got stuck at resigning the app.
I'm trying to replace HTC voice assist with Google now.
The logcats implied that I needes to be signed with HTCs certificates. Does that make sense?
Any suggestions?
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Tapatalk
Finally I was able to over come the signing problem and could get the app to install. The default size of the images used in the app was 216 X 216 which according to me was very small and the icon displayed is as shown in attachment 1.
After which i increased the size to 400 X 400 but sadly the image is now being chopped off from the sides.
This according to me is because of the image size set in the app which I don't know how to edit.
If it would be very kind if someone could help / guide me with this one.
I have also attached the .apk file if anyone is interested in looking into it

Yes, its the same app.
Initially I thought the process will be as easy as replacing the images but now when I see, I need to edit the code to resize the images for which I will have to use the traditional methods like APK Manager.
But editing the code is beyond the scope of my knowledge and so will be looking forward to others.
I'm comfortable editing the code, I'm just lost as to how I repackage and replace the old apk.
Maybe if you find anything on that you can post it here and we can get to work on it together...
Thx
