Suggestion to make life easier - XPERIA X8 General

I see that there are loads of threads with questions I ask myself
the thing is that I have to go through loads of pages till I solve my problem.
Therefore could thread creators from now onward always keep their findings updated in the first post so that people like me only need to read the first page to solve the problem/question?
Thanks

Not to happy....

So I tried to post in a ROM thread and get a message saying I'm not aloud cause I'm under 10 post and no expert but yet I was able to post there the other day twice which was no repost or a noob question. So now I can't post a question that still has not been posted by anyone else or has been posted anywhere. So guess I need to just make random post bout 7 more time so that can make me a expert at knowing what's going on just to post in certain threads ... Cool
What did you want to post? They had an announcement a few days ago about why new members (under ten posts) would no longer be able to post in the development section. Nothing to get upset over.

I have never heard of this happening but I guess if you say so.
I know you can't post links or files being a junior member but that's a new one on me.
Why not just post your question now?

Maybe this will shed some light on it.
Well like I said I was able to post twice just yesterday them now I can't and I brought it up to a buddy and he explained to me bout the new rule but kinda sux fir people like me I just sit back and wait cause most the time someone else always ends up asking questions that I have I mean I'm no expert but at the same time I know what I'm doing just by reading most of what's going on. But the question I had was I'd anyone knew of anything bout CM putting in more themes in the rom itself or there gonna be a new thread where we can dl them from? Also what if I had a problem to report bout a rom but couldn't post in the right thread am I to make a new one or sit back and wait to see if anyone ever post the same problem? Thanx for the help/advice

Generally the themes are in the "Themes and Apps" section. I think they figure that if you've gone through the process of rooting your phone, learning to use adb and flashing ROMs and kernels you've probably exceeded ten posts. They just want to keep the development sections clean so the developers stick around. I happen to think that's a great idea.

All you have to do is post ten times before you can post there, and if you are here enough contributing that shouldn't be so hard...?
It's a great idea. If you are going to root your phone and flash ROMs, hopefully you've taken the time to know everything involved in doing so.
Too many root their phones and have no idea what they are doing. It's not that hard to read and watch video to learn how things work.

Its kinda hard to contribute when u can't post in the rite thread. That's the whole point of this rant but also to just get me up to 10 post so when I do have a question or something that has not been brought to the table I can contribute!

Unfortunately, 90% of the posts by new users are in the wrong thread when they post to the development section. If you are in the 10% that do know what that section is for, then great, make your 10 posts and unlock the door. And thank you for contributing! Once you have been for awhile, you'll start to see for yourself why they made that change.
If it was a question then.. it shouldn't been in development
There's your problem from the start
Imo I think they should make the post count higher to post in development or even better they should hafta get a mod to approve if your allowed to

I'm down for a higher post count, 10 can be too simple, and people can just post a bunch of stupid ish in random forums to get to it. If you have a specific question about a rom, chances are you haven't read through the 30+ pages of that thread. So instead of posting about it again, search JUST the rom thread, not the android dev. forum, with 1-2 keywords of your problem, more likely than not, you will find a fix for your problem, or see that it is still unresolved.

I've been coming to XDA for about 6 months now, but I haven't been posting on the threads because I'm able to solve issues myself. It sucks that they just added this when there are plenty of people who are mature enough to search and solve their problems without complaining about not being able to find a fix. It seems like, once again, the ignorance of few have ruined it. I guess I'll just have to answer some questions until I get up to 10 posts so I can actually give input on bugs and other ROMs I test.

XDA answered your questions and provided ROMs to flash for your enjoyment for 6 months... I think 7 more informative/helpful posts is the least you can do to give back.
I'm also working my way up to 10 so that I can join in the CM7 discussion on this forum.
That is a ridiculous rule. It only does one thing it keeps some spamer or troll from sighing up and do his dirty deeds quick. Nothing else.
I have over hundred post and a title like "senior member", like that's supposed to be anything. I can tell you right now I don’t no my head from my ass. ~ & worse; I think I'm funny.
Vibrant Axura 2.2 Voodoo 5 JL5 via the XDA app
It has nothing whatsoever to do with spamming and trolling. If it was to control spam and trolls, don't you think they would have applied some kind of rule to ALL forums and not just the developer forums?
It's blatantly obvious that it's to keep people who don't know any better from posting off-topic non-development questions in the development forums. By the time somebody makes 10 posts, they've hopefully figured out where to post things.
I honestly can't believe this is even an issue... its 10 freaking posts. Get over it.

Development stickies

Hello! Recently, as many of us have noticed, the moderator of the Vibrant forums here on XDA has decided to consolidate all of the sticky threads in to a single thread. I, and several other members of XDA, have some major concerns with this including:
Former stickies are mixed in with development threads
Stickies are more difficult to find
Stickies receive less attention, and therefore there is less incentive to update them
Since having easy to access information reduces the number of off-topic and question posts over in development I put forth a suggestion to our moderator, that the users of XDA decide if the stickies are returned or an alternative solution is devised! If there is a majority in favor of changing the presence of the stickies mmelo has stated that he will abide by the will of the users.
If anyone has any alternative solutions besides the ones I have posted in the poll please come forward with them!
Being someone who has two of these stickies, the ones geared for those who need the most help... And the amount of time I spent... And for all those who post questions in them that I answer...
I'm a little offended and upset. I mean first there were stickies that had absolutely no business being stickied and now lumping them all together (now I have no clue if someone posts a question).. Whatever, I've taken a break from it for a few days and it's been nice. Perhaps this is my sign to just quit trying to help so much.
Perhaps we just need a new bibrant moderator too though.
Edit: I guess my suggestion is:
How it was before (before meaning not including threads that should not be stickies)
a new mod, someone who has a pulse on the vibrant and speaks English (isn't that a guideline for being a mod)... I mean absolutely no disrespect, just being honest.
My suggestion was to remove threads like the Nero fixes and stuff and the Samsung numbers.
Not your threads but I guess he didn't exactly understand, but this being a mobile website and all the stickies were filling up most of the screen.
There's plenty positives about this and negatives, but the statement its harder to find is BS.
U guys tell newbies to search anyways and searching will only lead to the same thread.
Find a post where I said search, AND didn't provide an answer.
It is harder. If someone posts a question, I have no clue now unless my thread happens to be on page 1.
The only positive I see is that you don't have to scroll down as much...
You know if you guys don't like what he is doing to the vibrant forum you can always go above him and let the administrators know.
A mod is just an employee and they aren't perfect, some even abuse their powers at times.
Ultimately if the forum members aren't happy then let the people above the mods know.
I personally think there were too many stickies to begin with, but sticking them all in one, including the bible and noob guide was a bad idea. Just my opinion that is all.
As someone who searched first and asked later. I miss the previous setup.

Its all in 1 sticky.

S15,you want to answer questions on it thread? Bookmark your thread and check it once in a while. Your not going to get 500 questions at a time and lose answering questions.

Why are you saying search???
Its the first thing up there. WHY ARE YOU SEARCHING?
clicking 1thing to get info on 5 other threads isn't that hard.

The thing that bugs me the most!!!!

Okay this is my first post but yet it is a thing that bugs the hell out of me. I can appreciate the work that the devs do on these ROMS. But when the first 5 pages of a thread are hey thanks downloading now just pisses me off. How about we post with respect and say hey I downloaded this and it works great or these are the bugs I noticed. I shouldn't have to look at the forum on my phone or even the computer and have to look through 5+ pages of people just saying hey I am going to D/L when I get home or D/L now. Just my 2cents
Well it is a form of saying thanks. Saying in anticipation ill be downloading when I get home also says thanks can't wait to try it. It may be an annoyance to you but it is what it is. And its been like that since the beginning of time. As far as the HTC touch days that I know of.
Sent from my Gruesomes Rom using Tapatalk
hear ya, you left out the apart about when you ask a relevant question and people respond with "read the thread, dude". So then you have to read 70 pages of "downloading now" and "does this have 4G?"
I'm over it though, nature of the beast...
One suggestion would be for the dev to create a poll based on the following and to explain about how helpful it would be if people restrained themselves from posting irrelevant information:
I will download. [ ]
I downloaded and I like, keep up the good work. [ ]
I downloaded and I like, but I'll post some bugs I encountered. Keep up the good work. [ ]
Great job. Keep up the good work. [ ]
...the thing that does bother me more is when the very first post is, "Yes, I'm the first to post" because that serves no feedback for the developer. In conclusion, I understand where you're coming and I too want to read thoroughly prior to posting a question since I doubt I'll be the only person that ran into a specific issue, but it's a PITA going through numerous pages of off topic comments/flame wars etc. For the devs reading this...YOU'RE WORK IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!!! Hey I read this post now. didnt get much out of it. Will report back later. The one bug i did notice was that this was a waste of a post!
Had to do it! Sorry!
Awesome! Downloading now! Does this have 4G? Lol, had to. It is quite annoying. I can't stand when people get on there and have normal conversations about the weather or life. If you want to talk, pm the person or freakin text them! I'm here to read about this rom and potential bugs, not how your dog ate your last pair of clean socks! Another thing is guys that say bro, broseph, or any form there of. It just sounds ridiculous. You know what I'm sayin bro?

No problem with asking relevant questions but the problem is and it may not of been with you but people ask the same question over and over. A lot of times the answer is on the page prior or two pages prior. I know you may not of noticed it but as a person who has been going through threads for a while now I see it a lot and there comes a point where guys just get frustrated. It sucks but just like OP mentioned about the first few guys saying I am downloading its the nature of the beast

I have a "copy/paste" word document set-up for the "what's the best Rom". Complaining about moot points does belong in the general section, so no beef there
The thing that bugs me more is when people start trolling and insulting one another. Pages and pages of insults and fighting. I come here to learn, not sorting through pages and pages of insults. Have a nice day.
I am glade to see most people got my point. Good to see I'm not alone on the frustration.

I am pretty sure thats why they are using a thanks button, so you don't have to bulk down development threads with random posts. Which is why from now on I will always create a general thread and link to that thread in the OP for general discussion of the project...

Forum suggestion

So every day it seems we have new threads about rooting instructions or basic issues that seem to get fixed over and over. Would it be better to have a section called 'back to basics' or something to try and group those together and chuck the stickies in there. I know ultimately if everyone just used the search tool there would be no problem. But I just thought it might help to clean up the forums a bit as it feels this forum has doubled in size since the sgs2 was released.

As a matter of fact, read this too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=5278 (Specifically #1)
I'll be reporting this thread to be locked now. Good luck.
PS
I'm going to give you some advice. Do NOT root. You have NOTHING to gain from it (besides perhaps your volume mod.)
But your phone will run hot, slow and might even lock up. You might not even be able to restore it.
I will NOT help you any further because you fail to read.
Just leave it alone. It works and that's all you need. Don't even try to continue because you will mess something up sooner or later because you cannot find information for yourself. All it'll take is one member to give you wrong information or for you to miss a step or misread/misunderstand something and your phone is done. Garbage. You don't want that. So I say again, leave it alone. Please and thank you.

I am very relaxed. You did not make this for "noobs" because there are already threads and guides in place to help. I have never spoonfed another member with the same answers to the same questions more than you before. It's redundant and really not necessary to post your question more than once. Which you do. Then instead of reading the answers, you post a new thread with the same questions that I have already answered. You're simply wasting my time. Then you tell me to relax. What? I'm not giving you any kind of attitude, I'm giving you aggravation because you're constantly breaking forum rules, exhausting resources, taking the forum for granted, wasting the time of our members and then have the gulls to tell us to relax. However, if I did have any kind of attitude against you, I'm certain that anyone would blame me. I hope that I don't see another thread posting a question from you again unless it is something really original. Please search and read before posting from no one. Please and thank you.
Come on guys...
I am on PG1 and will be rooting again today. I will let you know how it is and also with Viper4Android installed.
I was on PD8 and he's right, it was overheating until I changed the CPU speeds and governor. My battery would drop so fast I could sit there and watch it go down. Lots of people are saying the new update gives them 9 hours screen time, so we'll see if its any better rooted.
The root method achieved so far is not good. It uses a ENG boot and causes way more issues for the phone than its worth. Unless you are a heavy modder and a experienced rooter its really not for the every day users. My advice is to NOT ROOT and wait for a better true root method to surface. You will just run into heat issues battery issues and a whole bunch of lost functionality.
