I was wondering if anyone with a paid version of QMAT (PSAS, RevSkills, etc..) could help me make a goldcard.img file since i can't afford to buy the full version yet.

I just signed up today. I have searched the forums but either I have not found the right information or I may not understand the information I have found.
The Situation
I have acquired a T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition
The Model is PW10B1
Rom Version 3.14.40 ENG
Rom Date 11/26/02
Radio version 6.18
Protocol Version: 324e4
I would like to unlock the phone and use it with Cingular service I already have.
The phone currently has a sim card in it that is active. The person who gave me the phone left it in and has not yet deactivated the service.
How can I unlock the phone using the programs on the site.
I have read several posts but I know little to nothing about Pocket PC or PDA's and I have about the same knowledge regarding GMS technology.
I know people get mad or annoyed when questions are asked that have been answered before on the forums. However, I have searched and found nothing that can help me or that I can understand. I am a quick learner. LOL
Any help would be appreciated.
Edit. I do also have the cradle

Looking at the three options you gave me, i decided to try the Wizard again.
I did not use the 2nd Link in your reply. Partially because I dont have a card reader. The device does have a 128mb card in it.
I did not use the 3rd link in your reply because It seems a bit over my head.
Following the Wizard this is where I get stuck.
(Unlock Wiz/Wallaby/SER/go)
1. Back up your data in such a way that you can restore it to a new ROM version. This probably means you want to synchronize contacts and calendar with Outlook on your desktop, and create copies of the files you need.
1. I i dont have any data on the pocket pc at the moment.
2. Download and install the SpecialEditionROM. It will unlock your phone as a part of the cold-boot procedure.
2. How do i Install this? Do I install it to my pc? Do I install it to the Wallaby? if so how do i install it to the wallaby. Will it matter that I dont have any user profiles created? will it matter that there is a sim chip in the device? What is the "Cold-boot procedure"
3. Synchronize using ActiveSync to get your contacts and calender data back, and copy back the files.
3. Does this step matter for me since I have not information I want to put back on the Device?
Edit. Is this the correct download: XDA-developers-SER-v12.exe
Edit 2. I got it to install the special edition rom, now it asked if I want to unlock the phone now. I said "yes" but I do not know which option to choose.
As I said in my first post I am in the US and will be using my cingular wireless account and sim card. I do not see an option for this.
I am king of all that is old t-mobile pocket pc phones. LOL
I got it to work , thanks for the help. I may start a pay pal account just to donate. This is a great site. now for the acceroies and to figure out how to use the new programs that the rom put in
Hello all,
Yes I’m sure your sick of hearing this: I'm new to all this. I picked up a T-Mobile PW10B1. It has Wallaby bootloader V.15
Rom V3.14.40
Radio V 6.18
Not sure what other info would be of help.
I have downloaded a lot of the tools,(maybe to much). Cant seem to make it all work. When i try to use the XDA2 after following the
instrucks i cant get XPiss to see the USB device. Don’t know if I’m even in the right place. Any advise would be appreciated.

error.

HTC G1 asking for google account
hi mate
i have 2 HTC G1 account asking for google account.i have unlock it but stilln asking for google account please help on how to remove it.over 2 month am having it.
REGARDS
It will always ask for google account! Thats how you open it. As for downgrading to goldcard i think you need some program that is able to create the goldcard to the sd card, iirc i had to use my laptop with an built in sdcard reader to create the goldcard on the sd card. Also notice that the goldcard is not going to be shown on the filesystem!! But if you did it correctly it should work!
EDIT: I was dead wrong!! I had to use an old touch phone with Windows mobile 6 on! Since i didnt want to pay for the program to do it on the sd card!
The program i used was called Qmat, and i used the mobile syncing function to connect to the wm device.
after reading this post, i tried downgrading my rc9 back to rc7....it doesnt have the error message that u wrote........
but this error message appears when i tried to downgrade from rc9 to rc29 (us ver).........
currently im downgrading from rc9 to rc7....hope it works.....
successfully downgrade from rc9 to rc7
u ought to try this rc7 recovery
http://koushikdutta.blurryfox.com/G1/DREAMIMG-RC7.zip
i think u know what to do, right?
if not, ask me if u dunno
I had the same problem… my solution was:
Get the CID
Reverse the String
Do NOT add the zeros at the beginning
Just take the reversed string and go to the website to create goldcard
That's it
what does reverse the string means? where do i do it?
what website?
i reversed the string and created a goldcard, what now?

What happens with radio files etc? I'm inept if you didn't notice!
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
could you please post the files on other file host
if I went through this method would I also have root afterwards? or is that a separate process to be done first?
Nice one. Thank you 42turkeys. Worked like a charm on my Three UK Hero (other than the 170 and 171 error- but I did manage to sort it out...)
All perfect.

This is if you want to stay not rooted
If you do want to root then follow the link in my sig and you will have a 2.1 rom at the end of it.
Thanks 42turkeys. Am assuming then that it doesnt depend on build number.

Problem with this on Orange
Help! I tried this on an unrooted and unmolested Orange Hero, and when the SIM is in it now goes to a "SIM Network unlock PIN" screen.
If I remove the SIM, 2.1 seems to work fine (but just not as a phone!)

many many thanks, been trying for over an hour with file factory, think its blocked through our work firewall for larger files - you've saved me a very stressful evening
Love this forum, saves me on a regular basis

Work firewalls are a pain
I had to fight a battle just to get eurodroid.com recategorized from 'Pornography' to 'Technology'!
Is this method likely to work on my T-Mob G2?
I wonder if anyone here has tried it.
Friend at work tried it on his Orange Hero and had the same problem as Possum.
Also, it looks increasingly likely that I'll have to send my phone off to T-Mobile for a repair - do you reckon they'd make a song and dance about the fact I had 2.1 installed?

1. Could your friend give me the baseband version?
2. It will work on your G2, it did for me
3. Just run a T-Mob RUU and send it off.

Hi,
I just tried to generate a goldcard for my DHD, but adb shell cant read mmc1, so I cant get the CID mmc0 and 2 are working, which of the 2 should I choose?
iI used this guide:
ty in advance
edit: ITS MMC2
hi,
also wanted to debrand my DHD, but i always get error 170 usb not connected ...
i have o2 DHD and wanted to flash the standard 1.32 RUU
may an idea what problem there is ?
tested with or without HTC sync installed
thanks ahead
You need to use MMC2 while creating the goldcard as that is the ext SD card.
All you have to do is get the signed RUU zip file and rename it to PD98IMG.zip and put that on the goldcard SD card and boot to hboot.
hboot should check the the file and ask to flash it :-D
Im writing a guide for this now sould be up after iv confirmed it working
isn't USB error to do with drivers? install the latest htc sync that came with the phones memory card and then run the RUU
Vote 4 guide xD ill give it a try tomorrow, got usb problems as well
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
i got it working yesterday then after using a different pc as raZr confirmed working.
and yes, worked then here too.
no idea why it doesnt work on my main pc, all i can imagine is may collides due
too many drivers ... desire, iphone, desireHD, ...
is there any real reason to create goldcard of any major use i.e. will this help me to gain information i can pass on to help with perma root on vision. i have looked into goldcard creation a lot since receiving my DHD but cannot see what i can do with the goldcard. Confused if this helps toward root.
am a knoob
Won't help the people who are working on rooting the DHD, but it lets you debrand your phone if you have a carrier specific branded version by flashing a signed unbranded ROM.
In the future it might be necessary to root your phone, but not yet... crossing fingers here.
Does anyone know what is done by Viper to actually create the GoldCard image?
I've been looking at the GoldCard method this week, threw together a nice AJAX CID reverser which flips the digits and replaces the first two with 00, but would like to know about the image side now.
Hi there guys I don't own the Desire HD yet, but am very interested in it.
I'm an Android newb. I'm likely going to purchase a UK Vodafone branded Desire HD but would like to immediately debrand it to essentially make it a stock HTC version.
Is this possible?
If so, is the method you've described in the previous posts, the way to do it? i.e. create a Goldcard in the way described on the Modaco website (these instructions appear to be for the Desire, not the Desire HD - does this matter?)
I have had a Voda branded Nokia N95 8GB for 3 years but changed the product code and installed a standard Nokia firmware - I'd like to do the same with my Desire HD (when I get it).
Hopefully that all made sense,
Any help appreciated.
Cheers,
Grim.
now that i have a gold card??
