so does this actually work? Cuz i've used Links2SD instead because i couldnt find Apps2sd for the flipside for a while

i'm confused about this. i've seen people recently saying that apps2sd is no longer needed, but lots of people still run it.
i currently run dwangs latest 1.6 rom, and its blazing fast... does this have apps2sd built in? if it doesnt, why do people say its no longer needed? i also run ra recovery console 1.2.2. if dwangs doesnt have it built in, all i need to do to move to it is click the link in my console right? (i already formatted fat32/ext2)
It's not needed for the Magic because it has enough internal memory for your apps. Many ROMs are developed primarily for the G1 which has less space and hence could do with apps being stored on the SD.
I recently removed all partitions from my SD so the apps are now on the phone and also there is no swap. With the latest Cyanogen ROMs I have found this to be a more stable setup, don't think I'll ever partition the SD again.
I've been searching around but haven't been to keen on finding any working rooted multi-touch roms out there.. Is there a way to just have an addin or edit to enable this?
I'm using Dream/G1 with a heavily mod'd (rooted) 1.6 firmware
Sorry if I missed this anywhere else on the forums, I tried doing a search but it wasn't confined to just Dream Forums but instead all of XDA.
Also, with having root, I installed a 1.6 rooted mod and made sure I partition'd with ext3 for apps.. is there anyway to test/know if my apps downloaded from the market are actually being put on the SD card and not on the system memory?
Thanks for any and all questions answered!
if you have lots of apps check the internal storage. I have like 275 out of 281 mb free of the mytouch 3g storage free so that is how i know apps2sd is working. BTW I got like 50+ apps and got ext 4 partition.
Cyanogen has multi-touch working in the browser and gallery.
And how to app2sd?
I don't any ROMs at all have been made for the Flipout, although I could be wrong. As for moving apps to the SD card, is there any particular reason you can't just open up the Market and download the free "App 2 SD (move apps to SD)" app?
"app2sd"apps?
I cannot find out..
app2sd is not available on flipout because flipout is currently running on andoid 2.1 and unfortunatelly there is no android 2.2 planned for it.
i'm using a tool called app2card, but your device needs to be rooted...
try to google it...
sadly motorola said that the flipout will remain on android 2.1
but to store your apps on sd card you can load app2card.
look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769803
before you can use app2card you need a rooted flipout.
just look for universalandroot.apk here in the forum! install it and root your mobile!
then you have to mod your sdcard! you can make this with app2card! you need a fat32 partition and a ext2 partition (ext2 max. 1,4GB)
if you have done that every new app will be stored on the sdcard...you can store your phone apps also on sd. there are lots of tuts here.
sometimes your phone gets slower. depends on the class of sdcard!
i prefer an app caled "app monster" it stores the *.apk files you loaded on sdcard. if you need it you can install it. so i can install or deinstall how i want.
try out
I've had my Evo 4G for almost a year now and I really havent felt the need to upgrade the ROM on it, which is surprising for me since I usually put a custom OS on my phones the day I buy them (coming from a windows mobile background) .
The only issue I have that I would like to rectify is app space. I keep getting the low disk space warning and telling me to remove apps.
I was wondering, if I root the device is there a way to push apps that do not have "move to SD" enabled over to the SD anyway? Facebook and Twitter for instance would be much better off on the SD since they build up huge data caches and need to be cleared all the time when on the phones memory.
Or, is there a way to re-size the phones memory allocations without doing a full re-flash if it's rooted?
Any thoughts/opinions are appreciated. Thanks!
You can do this stock as of froyo. You can do this through the applications setting menu or use an app that will help. I've used sdmove
If you root you could use a script created by darktremor. There's a thread on here if you search for darktremor a2sd. It frees up 3/4 of your internal memory, it works pretty well

I tried that app a while ago and it really wasn't that big of a help. Certain apps (like Facebook and twitter) still could not be moved.

Thanks! I will take a look at that. It may be just what I need.
If you root you can partition your sd card and use dta2sd and it will move all your apps to the extsd even ones with widgets it works great .
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Rooting your phone with a ROM that's at least 2.2 will allow for app2sd use, however, you do not have to ROOT to use app2sd. If you do not wish to ROOT your phone, You need to run at least stock version 2.2 to be able to use app2sd.
I had a HERO that ran 2.1 and app2sd did not work, then I got my EVO with 2.2 and app2sd worked fine. Neither the HERO or EVO were rooted at the time.
Also remember that some apps must stay resident to work and can not be moved to your sd. Many of the app2sd apps will show you what can and can't be moved.
Good Luck.....
I'm sitting here with 13mb free on my phone and 3gb free on my card... Tried to install a 400kb app and keep getting "not enough memory"... what gives?
I went in and uninstalled 2 apps from my SD card and now it lets me install that app.
Link2SD works wonders...

Will try it, I was talk to use App2SD and thats what I have now.
Im using Link2SD on my phone after update to 2.2 I seem to have less free internal memory on Froyo then I did on Eclair. Must be more ATT bloatware on the Froyo update then the phone had on it stock.

Any advice getting it set up? I am using Easeus and formatted the card (8gb) and put main partition to 7gb Fat32 and secondary to 1gb Fat32 (guide said Ext2 but when i opened phone it said to use Fat32) and when I open app I get "Mount scrip cannot be created. mount: Invalid argument"
I'm confused, and I haven't updated my flip side yet, but why would one use link2sd on Froyo? Isn't Froyo, suppose to allow us to install apps on the sd card?
My experience to why you want to use link2sd.
I successfully updated to the motorola froyo official release. Im loving how much faster everything runs. Able to root successfully with superoneclick and used titanium backup to remove att crapware. However here is my issue. I used link2sd previously on eclair. Had about 50+ apps on phone with about 40% give or take free. So I was so excited about the apps to sd in froyo. Well, I tried putting back all my apps, using an app I got from market for apps2sd and link2sd for those unable to move per the app. With link2sd, I lost no phone space but as the apps that could be moved got moved to the sd via the market app, my phone space went BYE BYE. Down to 0% free. WTH is going on? I just did a factory reset and am going to try just link2sd and see what happens. Anyone else running into this problem or am I alone in this?
I am linked with all my previous apps, plus have downloaded more. Still at 40% memory free. HTH
