My wifi Xoom has no problem connecting at home with decent performance. Last weekend my wife and I were at a hotel where her Ipad connected and ran fine; I connected to the same SSID but couldn't get any connectivity via the browser or other apps. I checked with Wifi analyzer and although the channel I was connected to (Channel 1) had the worst signal of all 14, it still should have been fine.
I tried reboooting, etc. with no success. Ultimately gave up and (luckily) was able to use my wife's Ipad (version 1). Back home now and performance is fine. Any thoughts why this would occur?
Thanks much.

After connecting to 3 different wireless connections and none of then working, I'm concluded that my wifi isn't working.
I go to settings and check wifi on, it finds the network, connects, but I lose my entire data connection for the duration wifi is turned on!
Is anyone else having this problem?
Sent from my Samsung Vibrant
I'm having the same issues with the wifi. I downloaded wifi analyzer to make sure I was on a good channel. Set it to the best channel and my signal strength is 100%. I will be able to connect for a little bit but for some reason it goes in and out, connection unsuccessful, yada yada yada. I messed with all the troubleshooting solutions for my router (dgl-4300) but nothing works. If anyone can reply with a fix or point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated.
Same Issues
Any help is greatly appreciated. Data working fine when on 3G but Wifi = no data. Connection is fine, IP is fine.
UPDATE: It's working again on my home WIFI. Will have to see if it's just an "at work" issue. Hopefully IT can assist.
Same problem with Verizon MiFi
I have had ZERO problems connecting to the Linksys access points we have setup at my home and my office, but recently my work provided me with a Verizon MiFi (as well as an iPad - don't hate ) and I've had MANY issues trying to get my Vibrant to consistently connect to the MiFi.
My iPad, Motorola Droid, and Laptop have no issues connecting to the MiFi.
On my Vibrant I'm running the 2.1 stock ROM with root & the latest ClockWork recovery.
It will "connect" to the MiFi (I use quotes because I can't really tell - it AT LEAST receives an IP). But I'm unable to send and receive data. I can't even browse to the MiFi's internal configuration page .
To FINALLY get it to connect consistently I have to do some kind of random combo toggling the wifi off and back on and then turning the MiFi off and back on and it will EVENTUALLY connect and stay connected with data flowing freely.
I've customized my configuration a little bit on the MiFi so I'm going to reset it back to factory and not change the config to see if it makes a difference - because at lunch I was able to connect to my boss' MiFi with no problem. I'm thinking it may either be the phone or the mifi...
I've connected to about 10 different wireless networks with NO issues, at all. The connectivity is actually much better than my G1/Nexus.
HOWEVER, last night at a bar I was connected to their wifi, strong signal, but I was not able to use Data. I was in a very poor reception area for T-Mobile... don't think that could be an issue, bit the other places I use wi-fi that is not the case.
I just chalked it up as a fluke and moved on. Not sure what was wrong.
I had this happen to me today. I just rebooted and it went away. Toggling wifi didn't help, but I only tried it once. The phone reboots so quick I figured I'd give it a try.
I have set the phone up manually with static ip. Seems like its a problem with the dhcp.

I'm gonna try this.

Just picked up my TF today, updated to 3.1
I have a main router at my house and two bridged repeaters (dd-wrt) sending the signal everywhere so I have coverage. Here is the strange issue:
I can connect via wifi just fine to my main router, but I can't to either repeater. The TF says I am connected, but the wifi symbols stays gray, and doesn't connect to the internet. Other devices connect fine to the routers, even my droid 2 global has no issues.
Anyone else experiencing anything like this? Strangest wifi bug I've ever experienced, i'm stumped.
I've tried the following:
Channel Changes
Open security
Router Reboots
Any advice would be appreciated!!!
just tried connecting to my dd-wrt for the first time reading your post, and it worked fine... I am running prime 1.4 if that happens to have anything to do with it.
Have you tried static IP on your TF?

A repeater? Or direct router?
I have tried static ip, no avail.
I also have an annoying wifi issue as well. When my transformer comes out of sleep it seems to be connected to the wifi but I can't surf the net. I need to turn-off wifi and turn it back on to make it properly work.
Using Prime ROM v1.4 and the wifi uses WPA.
I should have also mentioned, that despite being "connected" I still cannot visit the router gui via the TF's browser...

+1... I am annoyed with this as well...
mine is a bridge, with it's own ssid
still can't figure it out
I'm considering flashing to prime 1.4 to see if that will help. does anyone know if there are different wifi drivers on prime 1.4 vs stock 3.1?
thx
Have you tried flashing the latest firmware to you repeaters?

Same issue was happening to me on stock rom. I changed WiFi disconnect policy from "Never when plugged in" to "Never". The issue is now gone but battery goes a little quicker now...
Do you know if you have an access list setup on your router? Your access list maybe bllocking your tf from connecting
The first thing I would do in your case, OP, is to disable all security, mac filtering, passwords, etc and see if the Asus will connect or not.
I'm using Prime 1.4 and have no problems connecting to my wifi network using WPA2.
I have...
(1) - Verizon Fios - Main router - no wireless broadcast - DHCP on
(2) - Linksys E2000 - DD-WRT - wired ethernet to main router - broadcasting SSID - DHCP off
(3) - Linksys E2000 - DD-WRT - wired ethernet to main router - broadcasting SSID - DHCP off
Unfortunately, I'm not doing the wireless bridge repeater mode but I haven't noticed anything particularly different about the Asus's wifi.
My wifi is always on, I don't use any of the battery saving modes.
figured it out
After trying a bunch of various resets and google searches, it turns out that the only way for me to connect to a bridged router is by using static ip's and making sure the dns was set to find my main AP.
Its strange that i would have to go through so much manual setup, when all other devices work just fine.
Been using wifi at work, understand that recently they changed the config on the router to only broadcast N. Ever since my NC will scan, connect, then immediately disconnect. I am running CM7 on nightly #177. Been doing it with several previous nightlies. I have a Netgear WNR3500 at home that I have setup to broadcast both G and N, the NC always connects G at 54mbps. Is there some setting I can check or file I can modify that will let me modify wifi settings on the NC? Any help with the N connection would be great. Thanks.
Edit: Ok, I lowered my overclock from 1.1ghz to 800 and it connected without a problem. Seems the overclock is having issues. Have to play around with it a little and try and figure things out somemore. Please disregard.
I'm having the same problem. My school recently switched to an n network and now I can only get connected occasionally and the connection drops within a minute or two, even if I'm in the middle of uploading a file.
Long story short, I can only use the internet if I set my router to 802.11g only.
I have a new Nook Color that I couldn't get to register. I tried updating the firmware to 1.4.2, which didn't help. I ended up being able to register by setting my D-Link Dir-615 router to G-only. After registering, I installed [CM7.2-RC1] MiRaGe (04/16/2012), but still can only connect when the router is set to G-only. G&N and N-only won't work. I've tried everything I can think of, including resetting the router to factory defaults and turning off wifi security. I've never touched airplane mode nor the overclock settings on the NC. I've tried forgetting all wifi connections, turn off wifi, etc. many times. I have a media player (N) and laptop (G) that both work perfectly. Setting the router to G-only cripples the speed of file transfers to my media player, so I'd really like to find a better solution. If anyone has any ideas, I'd be very appreciative.
EDIT: To clarify, when the router is set to something other than G-only, the NC can still connect and gets full green bars, but no internet app will work. If I then set the router to G-only the wifi indicator on the NC will disappear for a second, then reappear and the internet works perfectly without me touching the NC. I don't have to turn off wifi or anything, just tap refresh on the browser.
check your router against a different device.

My media player (802.11n) and my laptop (802.11g) both work no matter what mode the wireless is set to. My Nook Color would connect fine, full green bars on the display, but no internet. Setting the router to 802.11g-only mode would make the Nook Color work, but slow down my media player.
Solution: I put dd-wrt firmware on my router and the Nook Color works perfectly while the router is in G&N mode, and the file transfer speed to the media player is back up to where it was.
Afterthought: I really thought it was the Nook Color that had the issue. This problem (NC only working when the router is set to G-only) isn't uncommon on the Barnes & Noble support forum and the media player worked great at N speeds. I went through my router's settings multiple times, testing after each minor change. I don't know why the dd-wrt firmware made it work, I'm just glad it did.
The problem with 802.11n has been present from almost day 1. See
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959823&highlight=wifi
The sure fix as others have noted is to not use 802.11n. Good to know that dd-wrt fixes the problem - assuming you have a router that supports dd-wrt.
I have an AT&T galaxy s4 and I've been having trouble with the wireless. I can connect just fine to the netgear router at my apartment in Athens but at home I've been having trouble. At home we have AT&T uverse with an AT&T branded router. My phone will connect for a little while but eventually the small down arrow under the wireless symbol in the status bar starts blinking and the phone says it's connected but I don't have internet. Ive tried searching for a fix but it seems that the only routers people are having trouble with are dkink routers. The problem seems to trigger after I try to load a new site or refresh a page. Also, locking the phone triggers it as well. I've tried changing the security settings, forgetting the network and re-adding it, as well as turning the wireless network power saving option off but nothing works. I've rebooted the phone and the router but it still messes up. What's odd though is that my brothers galaxy s4 connects just fine (although I haven't been able to do extensive testing on his phone). Also, I was home last weekend and the weekend before and it worked just fine. I haven't rooted my phone or changed any settings that would have impacted the wifi since then. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm having very similar problems. When I connect to the wireless, the phone will work on it for about a minute and then stop getting to websites, etc. I have a Motorola SB 6121 cable modem with Vonage and a Dlink DIR-655 wireless modem. Inet provider is Comcast (only option here).
Anyone else having the same symptoms?
I've done the same troubleshooting steps: factory reset, power cycle, default settings, etc and the phone does the same thing.
EDIT: it's been working longer than usual now. I adjusted the Transmission Rate from the Wireless setup to 54 from Auto and the wireless has been stable much longer. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2253471 for people sharing the same pain we have
What are some particulars why my G3 is suddenly getting intermittent wifi at a certain range when it's been in the same room for years and never had an issue? It was working fine before and now it cannot sustain wifi connection despite "showing" an initial max/good signal, especially when it starts initiating such as loading a video on YouTube. However, it works fine when in close range to the router which makes it confusing if it's the WiFi antenna hardware already or some sort of new interference.
tl;dr
1. Works fine when near the router. No connection loses. WiFi signal in my room is good/excellent regardless.
2. WiFi SSIDs show up, then remains SAVED, the says no internet, then randomly connects and works.
3. Connection drops the moment I open a YouTube video, load an app, etc. basically when there is loading involved.
4. Phone has been in my room for years so the range is good and consistent.
5. Other devices can see the WiFi connection just fine, it is just this phone recently that showed a problem suddenly. WiFi signal at good/excellent for every other device.
6. There are other WiFi SSIDs of neighbors but only around 3 or so and they've existed for a while already. We are also in the appropriate channel away from theirs via WiFi Analyzer.
7. The router signal strength is able to reach even up to the house beside ours in the garden.
What I tried:
1. Reset network settings via Backup and Restore.
2. Changed ROM.
3. Removed Blokada / VPN. Private VPN is off.
4. Turned on Airplane mode, then turned on WiFi.
5. Channel WiFi channel, router Mhz, connected to 5 Ghz.
6. Removed Bluetooth devices in the area, Bluetooth toggle at off.
7. Went near the router to connect, it's sustained, then walked over to the room, connection drops. Other devices sustain it.
I understand the phone is showing its years but curious what could be possible reasons for this new issue to appear.
